Ben Howard // Anchorage, Alaska
Alright, so let me sum this up: We're all separated, Skylar got her finger literally ripped off of her hand, Ez and Simon could have lost their heads for all I know or fending off some Yeti or something, I used pyrokinesis and am currently sweating bullets in fourteen degree weather, the adrenaline is wearing off, and I'm feeling extremely jet lagged from cross country teleportation via a magic coin given to me by a centaur, and to top it all off - we're less than five minutes into the quest. Ben exhaled deeply before getting up, and helping Skylar to her feet. "Let's go find Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum." He said, brushing the snow off of his pants and walking off.
After about ten minutes of walking through the streets of the most populated city in all of Alaska, Ben noticed something rather peculiar. "Anchorage is a heavily populated city home to roughly 300,000 people... and we haven't come across a single one... weapons out, move quickly and quietly, follow my lead - no questions." He ordered, pulling the knob on his plastic, tricolor watch. Seconds later the watch morphed into two roman styled short swords. He wasn't sure as to what was going on, but he didn't want to stick around and find out. It took them a while but Ben finally found a car and looked around just to make sure, before breaking the window with the hilt of his short sword. "I promise I'm not a bad guy." He said, justifying his actions to the girls behind him. "Just sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do." He said, wiping the glass off the seat of the gray Honda Civic, and ripping out the knee bolster underneath the steering wheel. "If you guys are interested in learning how to do this, I can teach you once we get back to camp. There's an old SUV that we experiment on in the forge." He said, making idle conversation as he ripped out wires and hot wired the car. After about forty-five seconds, the Civic roared to life and the demigod hopped in the drivers seat. "Shotgun gets to DJ."
It took about an hour, and a whole lot of luck, but near the outskirts of town Ben noticed two people, one in a short sleeve shirt, walking near the side of the road. "Yep, that's gotta be them. Thank the gods they didn't teleport further away. That could have been tragic." Ben sped up and pulled up beside the two teens, both of which looked to be intact, another good sign. "Y'all lookin' for a ride?" He said mocking a deep southern accent.
[Y'all ready for our first encounter with the enemy?]

Simons face scrunched up a little in displeasure when he saw the other held onto his own arms in an attempts to keep warm. The son of Aphrodite must have decided to go on this last minute and hadn't thought about the possibility of them going somewhere cold. Which meant the guy was probably going to have some kind of frostbite by the end of their trek to the city.
He let out a loud groan at the explanation, surprised that Ezrael had that much information on him, impressed but not willing to actually admit it. "Well, then, just... just call me Simon then. Not Edgy McGee. Thats a lame nickname anyways," Simon scoffed as he led them along, sighing when he saw that the cold had made it to the other teens voice. Alright, this was just pathetic, and it was tugging at Simons more empathetic side. He unzipped the snow jacket he'd brought for himself, pulling it off, ignoring the sharp cold that was attacking his skin.
"Here. Just, we'll take turns, for now. Until you get one yourself." He mumbled, cheeks pink from both the cold and embarrassment at him showing a caring side, eyes lowered because he had a feeling this son of Aphrodite was going to make a big deal out of this. He just didn't like seeing the guy so shivering and cold, plus it was going to take them longer if he was freezing to death, they'd just have to take turns with the jacket. He lifted his hands, breathing into them, already feeling the colds affects through his thin Camp Half Blood shirt.
He frowned a little when he realized he wasn't getting that much of a response from Ezrael at his question. When the other looked over he realized that the teens mind had wandered up and he leaned over to poke the teens side to grasp his attention once more. He repeated the question once he knew he had the demigods attention and his frown only deepened at the response. "Well, what about the rule of three? There's a chance that people aren't going to be coming back. A really, really big chance," In fact, Simon could feel it in his bones, that people were going to die. It had always been like a second sense to him, but it was vague unlike his sibling Quinn, so he knew that at least one person was going to die and die soon but he never knew how many or who it was. During his last quest he'd gotten that sense and wouldn't let Ben out of his sight. it ended up being an elderly man getting hit by a public bus that last day but he hadn't known that. So the fact he was getting that feeling and that it was growing the longer they walked... that wasn't sitting right with him at all.
Simon paused when a car drove up to them. fingers tightening around his sword, ready for it to be some monster before relaxing when he heard Bens familiar voice. A small smile twisted onto his features. "Well 'bout time you showed up. We were gonna freeze to death out here," He responded, going to the car and piling it. It was one of the few moments Simon had actually cracked a joke, something he actually did do with Ben, even if it sounded more like a grumble. For people who knew Simon it was pretty much a joke.

Ben Howard // Anchorage, Alaska
The son of Hephaestus chuckled at Simon's response. "Alright you goobers, get in the car." He said, his voice normal again. It was nice to see Ben crack jokes again, even he thought so. He was so strung up from the whole having four other peoples lives in his hands thing, that he forgot to just be himself. "It's an hour long drive to Whittier, says Google Maps, I don't know that personally. Oh and Ez, I grabbed you some heavy clothes from the mall, I went to the most expensive places, I thought you'd appreciate it. There's a backpack for you there too." He said, pointing to the bags of Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, and Versace on the floor of the backseat.
For the better part of an hour the five demigods looked, and acted, like normal teenagers would, including but not limited to: poorly timed jokes, peer pressure, and overall gossip. That's when they got to Whittier. "What the hell?" There was a large blocked off tunnel, just a mile and a half outside of their goal. After a quick Google search, just to make sure this was a human event and not an immortal one, Ben confirmed that this was in fact normal. "Okay, so the tunnel closes everyday at night... but that means someone had to close it... so that means people are alive right?" He asked hopefully, more thinking out loud than anything. "We'll continue on foot, jogging, stay frosty everyone. When the town comes in sight... just follow my lead.
For five demigods a mile and a half jog was nothing, they were there in about ten minutes when they went into stealth mode, per Ben's orders of course. Empty. The entire town was empty... and that's saying a lot for a city that is supposed to be home to over two hundred of the most powerful and promising demigods in recent memory. "Follow my lead... stay low, stick to the buildings, and remember... curiosity killed the cat. Stick close." He added, his eyes momentarily lingering on Ezreal. The son of Aphrodite might be his best friend, but that didn't change the fact that Ez, from time to time, could be a wild card.
Ben slowly made his way closer and closer to the town, moving silently and efficiently. It was honestly impressive how fleet footed he was in the snow, especially from a kid born and raised in Florida for most of his life. That's when he noticed him, well rather it. Someone was standing in the center of the town square, staring at a fountain with his back turned towards them. The son of Hephaestus turned to look at his party, all of which were looking eagerly at him from behind the safety of a brick building.
The demigod let out a soft whistle, in hopes to get the persons attention. No luck. He tried again, this time louder. No luck. Again, louder. No luck. "Most gifted demigods of the century my butt, I'm gonna go see what's up... stay here. Don't do anything I wouldn't do..." Ben muttered, taking a step out from the safety and cover of the small building. "Better yet, don't do anything Chiron wouldn't do." He added, turning around and giving the other demigods a thumbs up. "Psst, hey." Ben called to the figure standing in front of the fountain, his eyes darting everywhere as he inched closer. "Hey, what's going on." He said, placing his hand on the shoulder of the man in front of him.
That's when Ben heard the most painful, loud, ear shattering noise he had ever heard in his life. The person... no... the creature in front of him screeched so loudly it ruptured Ben's left eardrum, causing blood to pour from the demigods ear. The creature turned around, it was... a skeleton. What was a skeleton doing here? Confused, but with no time to ask questions, Ben turned the dial on his watch and it transformed into his watch. He jabbed at the skeletons stomach, well, ribs. Nothing happened, except that the skeleton reached into it's jacket and pulled out a knife, stabbing at Ben who quickly dodged. He continued to fight with the skeleton, making no ground with the Stygian Iron tipped spear. Running out of ideas, the demigod formed the weapon back into a watch, then reforming it into a different weapon - a Celestial Bronze bladed, short sword.
That's when it really hit the fan. Dozens of skeletons poured out from the buildings all around him. "Retreat!" He yelled, swiping at the skeleton in front of him who urgently dodged it. Bingo. Celestial Bronze is his weakness. It was a monumental victory for him at this point, one he'd gladly take, and he turned to retreat, but the skeleton was having none of it. "Who is this guy... he's got excellent..." That's when it hit him. The green hoodie with the Camp Half Blood logo on it... this was one of the Demigods chosen to guard the Scythe... but why was he a skeleton? More importantly, how did he retain his battle prowess he had when he was human? There was too many questions and not enough time to get them answered. Ben turned around where he saw the others engaged in combat with several other skilled skeletons.

From the second they'd entered Whittier, Skylar's weapons had been activated, with shields covering her forearms. The silver gleamed in the light, only not showing as much reflective light in the celestial bronze designs. She didn't trust the town, why should she? They'd received a letter about needing reinforcements, and it was clear there was no battle being waged. That meant it was over. And if the demigods had been the victors, they should have been waiting to greet the reinforcements they asked for. The emptiness meant they'd probably lost, and who knew what had happened to them. There was no guarantee there were even survivors. She didn't like this at all. In fact, she wanted to go home.
Her fears were all but confirmed when they found a single figure standing alone in the middle of an empty area. It was like a horror movie, which she'd reluctantly seen several of them. When Ben tried to get its attention, she shrank into the shadows to try and be invisible. She didn't want to get caught. Then Ben started to move away from them. She immediately moved forwards, shaking her head frantically. "No!" she whispered to him. That was the worst idea possible. She was only proved correct when the figure let out an inhuman screeching sound, and she clutched at her ears. That was it. Every bad thing in the city, which was probably anything and everything, now knew they were here.
She was in full panic mode now, and it didn't help when more figures streamed out of the buildings with weapons drawn. She got a look at one, and her eyes widened in fear. They were skeletons, dead demigods, and they were charging them. They were outnumbered, and now surrounded by a town of enemies. There wasn't going to be an escape from this. She figured this out when she turned to run the way they'd came only to be stopped by a pair of skeletons. The one on the left was wielding a spear, and the other had a shield and sword. It was impossible to tell what gender they had been previously, or what they had even looked like.
She raised her shields as they struck at her, blocking the blows. She pushed the sword wielder away with as much force as she could muster, before spinning her left shield around the spear to grab it. While she had her right arm free, she slammed the edge of the shield into the shaft of the spear, splintering it. She then flicked her forearms down to bring the blades out. She was in fight or flight mode, and since she couldn't fly, she was going to fight. She dashed forwards, cutting the legs out from under the spear wielder with her right blade, then using the left blade to behead it as it fell. She faced the sword wielding skeleton then as it recovered from the shove and moved at her, shield up to lead the charge. This skeleton knew how to fight, that was clear, but Skylar's weapons meant that her style was a bit different and harder to follow. She brought her right shield up to match his, and was pushed back. When he moved to swing his sword at her, she blocked with her other shield. She then pushed with her right, but not forwards. Instead she moved the blade to cut off the skeleton's hand at the wrist. She then used the momentum to spin around the shield and behead the skeleton with her left blade.
She was already panting heavily, from the panic and the need to move so quickly to outsmart the once living demigods. At least she was free to run away from all this now. Though the second she tried to move away from the battle, three more skeletons moved to meet her. There was no running. They would have to destroy all these skeletons, which wouldn't happen. Undead didn't get tired. Skylar whimpered as she took a defensive stance. It was all she could do against three enemies.

(It's meh but I got it up?)
Surprisingly, Carly was beginning to enjoy the car ride. Yeah, it was a bit cramped, but she knew the passenger seat had slightly more room than the three shoved in the back. Plus, now that they found Simon and Ezreal, Carly felt a lot better. They were more than five minutes into the quest and all they'd lost so far was one finger. That was a good sign, wasn't it? She'd heard of quests going terribly and horribly wrong before the questers made it more than a few hours into the quest. Here hey were, almost to Whittier, and nobody had died yet.
When they had to continue on foot, Carly was slightly less enthusiastic. Yes, the run was easy for five well trained and conditioned demigods, but that didn't mean she enjoyed it. She sometimes enjoyed running, in the right conditions, and running through Alaska towards what could vey possibly be their death was definitely not at the top of Carly's list of runs that she'd enjoy. In fact, it probably wasn't on the list at all. She kept one hand down on her belt buckle, ready to pull it out if necessary. Before they even made it to Whittier, Carly decided that something wasn't right.
Yes, it took her super sensitive godly blood that long to realize that something was off about Whittier... Well, more off than that strange letter had lead them to believe.
When she saw how empty the town was, she carefully and slowly unbuckled her belt. She was sure she'd get some odd looks from her fellow demigods, but she didn't care. She held the belt in one hand, keeping it in that form for the moment. First of all, she didn't know what form she wanted it in, so she's just keep it like this until she was actually in a battle. Second, if there were any bad guys hanging around, she didn't want to antagonize them. Well, her presence (along with Skylar and Simon - and Ben And Ezreal to a lesser extent) would probably do that anyway. Demigods weren't exactly appreciated by the big bad monsters of Greek mythology.
She eventually caught sight of the lone figure and felt almost sick as Ben wandered off on his own to approach the figure. Splitting up normally didn't bother her, but she was on edge since reaching the abandoned town of Whittier and she didn't think this lone figure was up to anything good. If he was, why would he be standing alone in an abandoned town after something had either killed or chased off some of the most powerful demigods. "Be careful," she called out to Ben, her voice soft in an attempt to not draw any attention to their little group. She wanted to wish him luck as he went off on his own. Losing the one that was supposed to be protecting them was not good. Sure, the children of the big three could stand up for themselves, but how would they explain it to Chiron if they came home without their protector?
The loud screech caused Carly to drop her belt as she covered her ears, wincing in pain. That's when everything started to go downhill. She grabbed her belt from where it had fallen onto the snowy ground and looked over at Ben to check that he was holding up alright since he was alone. That's when she noticed all of the other skeleton creatures joining their buddy. While Screech occupied Ben, Carly turned to the others. She reached for Simon, but one of the creatures grabbed her arm first. Carly turned and sent a strong kick at the skeleton's chest, causing it to back off for a moment. When she did that, she swung her belt through the air and watched as it changed into its whip form. She swung it at the Grabber as he approached her again. As the celestial bronze tip made contact with his body, or bones, she knew she'd scored a hit. But then she realized a whip wasn't the best weapon at the moment. She quickly turned it back into a belt and then into its spear form, kicking skeletons back as she transformed her weapon into what she needed.
The spear proved the be much more useful, even at close range, as she took on her own two or three skeletons. They all seemed to retain the skills they'd learned while alive, which definitely sucked for the questers. She shoved one skeleton into another and yelled out for her teammates. "Come here! We can't let them split us up. Group up and fight as one!" She didn't know if the others heard her or if they'd be willing to listen, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to throw the idea out. They'd all need to work together if they wanted to survive this.

(There's really not much more for me to say about this issue until I actually get to work and see what happens there but I'll definitely let you know how stuff goes tonight. I've only got two classes today though so if you're up for chatting or anything that'd be cool. But if you're too busy don't worry about it. I'm playing some overwatch before class anyway)
