praying, Trey
honestly i'm getting so sick of culture secularizing Catholic religious feast days so they have an excuse to get drunk. it's a religious celebration. there's no way to get around that. stop turning feast days that have a lot of importance to Catholics into burnout drunk fratboy parties. it's massively disrespectful.

it just drives me up the hall it's so hypocritical because sjws will go on about cultural appropriation, but then religious appropriation happens and they're silent. or usually active participators. like, religion is the most important thing in my life (and many others). and it feels like every time i turn around secular culture has turned it into something it's not so they have an excuse to celebrate.
it's the same thing with st. valentine's day
and idk, it just makes me really bitter. we can't have anything anymore. nothing is sacred to the secular world.

Jess, you are freaking beautiful and I'm jealous
My parents anniversary is today! I don't know exactly how long they've been married, but over 30 years at least. I want to buy them a present they can use together, but I have no idea what ^^; they are really... an interesting couple lol I'm honestly surprised my mom didn't divorce him by now, he does stupid stuff all the freaking time, and she's really short tempered and came close to strangling him multiple times. But she tells me she still loves him, even if he does anger her like nobody else lol
Also, on the night before their wedding, my dad went out drinking. My mom got a phone call from him at like midnight, drunk as anything, saying "Hey honey, it's our wedding day!" So that was a thing lol

so i took this philosophy class this semester and i'm pretty sure the author of the book we have to read for it has it out for religion big time like. no matter what he's talking about he finds a way to insert his disapproval even when it's not even slightly relevant like who hurt you. he brings up Jesus cursing the fig tree in a chapter about free will and says this immediately after quoting it: "Let us ignore the disturbing social, economic, and ecological problems with this story, and concentrate on the apparent injustice to the fig tree." so. if we're ignoring all that then...why did you mention it at all. how was it relevant in the slightest to say any of that. if you're gonna say something so charged in that way, you can't just dismiss it? i feel like there's a word/phrase for what he did but i can't think of it right now...but like this is just a single instance of what he does every other page. this guy's got a big ego and every time he brings it up he displays either a deep fundamental misunderstanding of Christianity (and clearly of that story) or an intentional twisting of its message and stories in order to argue his otherwise weak secular and deterministic worldview. making me extremely dislike philosophy over here when i thought i'd really enjoy it -_- and jeesh, i haven't even reached the chapter titled "God" yet. can't wait to see what gems i find in that one. ah feels good to get that lil rant out. in other news i'm working 40 hour weeks lately while also being a full time college student bc of the store closing so yay for my bank account but omg my brain and feet. also in deep mourning stage every time i go to work and see the liquidation signs everywhere ;~; BUT i just finished reading a really good book called Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi and i definitely recommend it. it's about a very devout Muslim, Nabeel, from a very devout family who becomes best friends with a Christian who challenges his beliefs at every turn and eventually succeeds in what is an extremely difficult task of converting Nabeel. it gives a LOT of great insights into Muslim culture in a very respectful way and is full of interesting theological arguments. it does include some supernatural experiences (a vision and some dreams) that may make some skeptical but whether genuine or just the result of some psychology thing, they aren't the basis of Nabeel's conversion, rather just a tool that pushes him to become more intimate with scripture in trying to make sense of Christianity. very interesting book. ^That's why I think that some philosophy is nonsense. I had a similar class before, and it was awful. That must be so insane, working and going to school full time. : o If I did that, then I would be so exhausted all the time. Sorry that the store's closing. (but good for your bank account for getting more cash there) : ( And that sounds like an amazing book!
