It was their third day on The Isle, which meant it was her third day attending the Witch School.
Now, a lesser woman might have shied away from the challenge but Marlie was no lesser woman. The daughter of Moana and Maui was fierce, a fighter, a freaking fourth of a demi-god for crying out loud! She found that faking confidence was the first step in gaining it, and so she'd spent the last three days walking around as if she knew exactly what she was doing here. And well, she did. This wasn't some meet-and-greet with the underprivileged - it was a f*ucking rescue mission, and Marlie didn't plan on going home empty handed.
"Hey, guys. Have any of you seen Koa?" Asked the wavy-haired brunette as she poked her head into the 'common area' of the little shack that she and all of the other transfers shared. The answer was a unanimous no, which had the girl a little worried. Her brother was...well, he was the most delicate of the three siblings. It surprised Marlie that he'd been brave enough to venture away from home in the first place, especially when one considered how attached he was to everything there. Part of her had wanted to suggest he stay behind, but a larger part of her was silently rooting for her brother and she thought that this semester 'abroad' might be good for him. Maybe it would toughen him up a little.
She ventured down the hallway and rapped lightly three times on his bedroom door before pushing it open, her head poking around the corner first. Seeing Koa laying in a heap on his bed, her heart sank. No matter how old they got, he would always be her baby brother - and her heart would always ache for him whenever he was struggling. Marlie eased the door open the rest of the way and walked fully into the room that he shared with several of the other Auradonian transfers. She sat down gently on the edge of her brother's bed, giving him a worried once-over. "Hey...how you holding up, Koko?" She reached out and gently smoothed back his dark hair with her fingertips. "Been a crazy few days, huh?"

Krunk Delakronk Son of Yzma and Kronk
Krunk rolled his eyes at his little sister. She sure did like to cause trouble. He then returned his focus on his boyfriend, who was honestly much cuter. “I'm sorry she’s so mean to you.” He gently touched Arlo’s cheek then reached down and grasped his hand.
“Come on. Let’s eat this before it gets cold and she comes back because it’s about to rain outside and she did not take an umbrella.”
He grinned a little, kinda loving the fact he didn’t warn his sister about the rain, so she’d get drenched, which was exactly what she deserved after being so mean to his boyfriend. Pulling the boy up playfully he lead him to the dining room and took the food out of the bags. There were eggs cooked three ways, plus an omelette, sausage, bacon, ham, toast, and hashbrowns.
“I didn’t know what to pick so I like ordered it all. Besides the pancakes. They were wheat.” He scrunched up his nose at the memory of talking to the lady he’d ordered from. Let’s just say Krunk did not like wheat anything.
Krunk got forks from the kitchen and water, since they didn’t have anything else to drink. He sat down at the table and smiled at his boyfriend, holding his hand as he ate a piece of sausage. “Eat anything you like, just save me a bite of that omelette. It looks really good.” He winked at his cute dog boyfriend, while grazing his thumb over the top of the other’s hand.
Arlo never had to worry about Krunk leaving him. Krunk was in love with the boy. Nothing would ever change that and no one could ever tear him away.

Tara Jinni Croc Daughter of Tick Tock Croc & Joanna
Tara glanced over at Earl as he spoke up, slowing beginning to carry the leopon back towards Earl’s small room. ”Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle,” she reassured him and looked back down to the boy being carried off. So apparently he had been hurt yesterday too...wait, was this the coconut kid? At this realization, a soft chuckle escaped the green haired girl. ”You had to pick this one, aye? You’re gonna be keeping an eye on him all the time at this rate. How often does he get hurt?” She asked, amusement fluttering in her eyes as she looked back to Earl.
Then when questioned on whether Basu would die or not, Tara scoffed. ”No he won’t die, Earl. He’d have to be worse off than this to die, I know that. Just make sure he doesn’t pass out again, or throw up, make sure he’s not too dizzy and can walk and stuff. I don’t know, I’m not a doctor.” Not a doctor, but had to pick up on a few things considering when she was younger Tara might have been just a little accident prone herself. There had been many visits to Yzma and Dr. Facilier in her youth. Her father wanted to take care of her and would make sure to bring her in whenever needed. It had left the crocodile girl with at least some semblance of knowledge regarding things like this.
By now they were approaching Earl’s room again, which would mean that soon enough, he could be dropped off and Tara could be on her way. Maybe a little while later, she’d have to come back and check on them both. Meet Basu when he was actually awake. She didn’t know what he was like, however Tara had already decided that he was probably a hoot to be around. Besides, if Earl liked him, he was part of the crew now and it only seemed to welcome him to the crew when he was a little more conscious.
Once she had entered Earl’s room, Tara began to place the unconscious leopon boy down on Earl’s bed, making sure not to hurt him more than he already was in the process, then when Basu was lying on the makeshift bed, and Tara’s services were no longer needed, she began to make her way for the exit. ”Alright, Earl, I’m gonna go, I have plans to go wrestle some sharks and with any luck maybe today I’ll snag a tooth, wouldn’t that be cool, aye?” She questioned rhetorically, looking back to the hyena for a moment. ”Good luck with your boyfriend, find someone if he doesn’t wake up soon.” With that last bit of advice, Tara walked out, leaving Earl alone with the leopon. Her work here was done, and now she could go back to her original plan. To wrestle a shark and steal one of it’s teeth. Once she had the tooth, maybe she could make some sort of necklace out of it. Now that would be cool.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
Even though Earl trusted Tara and knew she would do exactly as she said, he was still worried that she would be too rough with Basu. What if she held on to him a bit too tightly or made a bruise on him worse? Pirates weren’t exactly gentle with cargo unless it was precious, and while Basu was precious cargo to Earl, that didn’t make him special to Tara.
The canine shook his head, clearing away the thoughts that had clouded his mind. Basu was in good hands with both him and Tara. The crocodile girl would be gentle with him if only because Earl had told her to do as much. Tara wasn’t a bad person. She wouldn’t want to hurt a friend of Earl’s.
”Basu is cute, ha, he also knows about stars. There’s this really bright one he told me about, and one where dogs live! I’ll make sure to keep all my eyes on him. The coconuts don’t really like him so he has to stay away from them, then he won’t get hurt anymore unless he runs away. He does that sometimes, but I always follow after him,” Earl explained. He had to make sure that Tara knew that Basu was safe under his watch and that nothing would happen, or nothing worse than a mild concussion would happen.
Relief showed over the hyena-jackal’s face when he was told that Basu wouldn’t die. For him to die he would need to be way worse, and that made the son of Ed and Kijana feel more relief than he had probably ever felt in his life. Basu was going to be okay. Even if Tara wasn’t a doctor he trusted her judgement fully. Now he was determined to make sure the leopon boy didn’t get any worse or have another head injury. That should be easy. Should be.
Now in his room, Earl helped Tara with gently placing Basu down on the bed. Once he was sure Basu was secure, he leaned down and piddled around for a moment, covering the leopon up with the torn clothes and part of the tattered blanket as best he could. He had to make sure his new boyfriend was safe and warm.
With the transfer now wrapped up and on the bed, Earl turned to look at Tara, a wide smile on his face. ”Thanks for helping, Tara. Basu won’t die now that you helped, ahaha. Maybe we can wrestle sharks with you after Basu gets better, okay? I think he’d like a shark tooth, a real big one. Maybe you can get a big one, too!” Once Tara had left Earl decided to curl down beside Basu, snuggling up against the leopon boy. ”I’m watching you, okay, Basu. Nothing’s gonna get you here. No coconuts, no walls.” As far as Earl was concerned, nothing was going to harm Basu here. They were both completely safe.

Kaikoa Keoni Tala’tui Son of Moana & Maui
It would pass. It always passed. All he had to do was breathe and wait. Sometimes these things passed by quickly, coming and going within a few sparse minutes. Other times...well other times it took a little longer. However Koa kept reassuring himself that it would pass soon this time. Even still, the thought was only marginally comforting to the boy and he ended up pushing himself back even further until his back was pressed up against the wall. Koa kept his head down, forehead on his knees, which were tucked closely to his chest. In a way he was trying to make himself as small as he possibly could.
His heart beat fast in his chest, stomach lurching as if it was on a roller coaster despite sitting still. Koa was used to these feelings be now. The lurching and the beating. However usually there was reason behind them. Usually his thoughts were what triggered the physical reactions. However that wasn’t always the case, and it was times like this - where his body reacted like this at random - that were the worst.
Maybe he was supposed to be on high alert. Maybe this was a sign that something was going to happen and he had to be prepared. Maybe his body was forewarning him of a possible threat lurking just around the corner, one he hadn’t anticipated yet and might not until it was too late. Koa gulped, slinking further into his bed. That wasn’t good, he could do nothing against anything that might happen. He was helpless.
The thought caused his stomach to do another flip. Koa shook his head, tightening his grip on his legs as they were pulled closer still. By now the tips of his fingers were white from the tightened grip. ”Come on Koa, it’ll pass...it always passes...” He reassured himself, exhaling sharply. ”But what if it doesn’t this time? What if this is just a warning leading up to something worse to come? What if we all die?”
Just as his thoughts began to get the best of him, the door to his shared room was opened and Marlie walked inside. Koa hesitantly looked up, still shivering in his spot. Had she knocked? If she had, Koa certainly hadn’t heard it.
Letting out a shaky breath, Koa offered his older sister a halfhearted smile. ”H-hey Marlie,” he greeted her, willing himself to get up from his spot and move closer to his sister but his body refused to move. ”I’m...I’m doing okay, j-just need a minute,” Koa explained weakly, eyes trailing along the edge of his bed, refusing to meet the eyes of his sister.
Koa fell silent after that for a minute or so, focusing on calming himself down. Which was already easier to accomplish with Marlie there with him. It was still a process, but having Marlie helped. It always did. ”Yeah...it’s, it’s been crazy, huh?” Koa asked, attempting to involve himself in the conversation. Anything to distract himself from the stomach flips. ”School’s kinda nice though...I think I made a friend a few days ago,” Koa admitted, relaxing his shoulders as they fell from their tense position before. He was still clutching his legs close to his chest, and hadn’t moved yet, but this was an improvement. No matter how small.

Genevieve Ratcliffe Daughter of Drizella and Governor Ratcliffe
Genevieve pulled her chocolate hair up into a messy bun on the top of her head. She twisted it a little and sighed when finally satisfied with its location on her head. The cracked mirror always made it hard to get ready, but she managed. She always managed. If there was anything she had to prove was that she deserved to be a princess, which is exactly what she would show these Auradon transfers. She was meant to be a princess. She could charm any prince, her grandmother and mother always told her so.
Fixing her green dress, tugging it down, she tried to make it look as nice as possible, which was hard on the Isle. Since their arrival she wore nothing but nice dresses and of course she hadn't seen a single one. Genevieve slipped the homemade tiara into her hair and pulled on the other homemade jewelry, earrings, bracelets, and necklace.
Sighing she brushed an eye lash off her cheek before giving in and putting on her heels. She could hear her mother's voice in her head. Tall, proud, beautiful. You are the best. You will be a princess. You will. She could not disappoint her, or her grandmother. It just wasn't fair. She deserved a castle, not a shack. Walking from her room she held her head high and went onto the street.
Genevieve could walk these streets and try and catch one of those prince's attention. Hopefully. She wanted off this hunk of rock. Walking by the slim farm she paused and looked at the horses, smiling softly. They were beautiful beasts. One of them approached her and she stroked it's velvet nose. "Handsome boy." She'd always wanted a horse, but her mother called them smelly beasts. So she could never have one, but when she got to Auradon she would have as many of them as possible, with a huge stable. "Good boy." She told him and turned away, about to walk away when she was suddenly soaked. She shrieked and looked back, the horse had kicked the post and knocked a bucket of water over, drenching her. "What the hell!?" She turned and her eyes landed on the oldest Slim. "Are you an idiot? Putting a bucket of water on the fence." Of course she didn't blame the beautiful black stallion for drenching her, she blamed the boy.

Katherine Ashley Slim Jr. Son of Katherine Barlow and Alameda Slim
"Pardon me, ma'am?" Junior had just been caring for the horses - it was his turn today, a chance he always jumped at - when some girl had started screaming at him. Now it was his fault because Jethro had decided to show out and kick a bucket at her?
The eldest Slim boy took a moment to gauge what was going on, doing a slow once-over of Genevieve with his eyes. He knew who she was: Genevieve Ratcliffe. They'd gone to school together, but never really interacted much. Or at all really. Now she was gonna march her fancy-dressed tail to his farm and yell at him for horses doing horse stuff? She was even wearing a tiara, like some kind of princess. Which was darn stupid. They didn't have any princes or princess on the Isle. The closest thing they had to royalty still weren't referred to as royalty. Unless you counted King Scar, but Junior sure didn't. But a tiara.
Exactly what in tarnation did he get himself into?
"I'd say Jethro ought to apologize, but I know he ain't. You'll be fine, though. It's just water."

The girl scoffed and wiped the water from her face and then put her hands on her hips. Her eyes narrowed in as she took in the scruffy boy, surely no one important dressed like that. He must be a farmhand or something.
" I will never blame the horse. I believe its very much you at fault here. If you hadn't put the bucket on the fence Jethro never would have kicked it then."
She huffed, not even recognizing the Slim boy, well man. She had always assumed Katherine Ashley Slim Junior was a girl. She knew the Slims had a few girls, but she assumed Jo was the boy, not Junior standing right in front of her.
"Aren't you at least going to get me a towel? God can't find any good help around here."
She said with a matter of fact and tried to wring out her dress a bit more, as if it even made a difference now. There was no drying her outfit or her hair, she would have to go home and change and redo her hair.

"I ain't apologizing for a horse actin' like a horse. Jethro woulda kicked that there bucket if it was on the fence or on the ground." Junior crossed his arms, frowning a little as he chewed on the toothpick that he generally kept in his mouth. "He's real funny like that." A look was given to his sister's horse, full of reproach, before he heard her next statement and had to stare at her in disbelief.
"I ain't the help, miss. We ain't got no help, and if we did, it definitely ain't me." Did she not remember him? They were literally in the same grade at school. Then again, she wore a tiara and missed a bucket of water on the fence. He wasn't sure how observant she really was. "I'm Junior Slim, which means the farm is partly mine, and I definitely ain't a hired hand."
The cowboy tried to be a gentleman, though, and removes his bandana from around his neck. "Try this, though." It wouldn't fix things entirely, but it might sop up the worst of the mess.

Genevieve Ratcliffe Daughter of Drizella and Governor Ratcliffe
The girl who fancied herself a princess narrowed her eyes at the boy as if really taking him in. She aged him down a bit and realized she did in fact recognize him. She just hadn't put two and two together. Junior Slim. Her eyes flickered around the pasture for a moment before looking at him once more. This was his family farm. Well this is awkward. She couldn't go weak now though. Oh no. That just wouldn't be like her.
In fact she opened her mouth to make a comment before he handed her his bandanna from his neck and she paused, her mouth closing as she took a step forward and took it, wiping her face dry then her arms. She let out another huff and wiped off her neck and chest. "Thank you." She murmured and kept the bandanna in her hand as she tried to dry her dress just a little.
Taking a deep breath she pushed her hair off of her forehead and pulled the hair tie out, letting her chocolate locks fall down in waves around her shoulder to her mid back, leaving the homemade tiara in her hair. "I'm sorry I called you the help." She held her head up and tried to ruffle out her hair, salvage something, but it was hard when it was soaked in some places and dry in others. She blotted her dress again. It was pointless, his bandanna was soaked.
She looked at it then at him. "Would you like this back Slim?" Genevieve asked, reaching her hand through the fence to him, offering the bandanna back to him.

Elfred Elmore Einstein Grimhilde Son of the Evil Queen & Buster
Elfie grabbed his toast, taking a bite out of the crunchy, slightly burnt bread. Might not be the best toast out there, but it wasn’t bad. Certainly not by Isle standards. He continued to take a bite out of the toast as both of his siblings went on to explain what plans they had for the day. Something about Eli and some big leader meeting or whatever, and something else about not actually having any real plans. Yeah, yeah, pretty normal stuff. Whatever. Elfie finished off his toast, swallowing as he got ready to explain his own amazing plans for the day...whatever they were, he didn’t actually know. He’d probably head over to the bakery with Chef Louis and Chef Skinner at some point, cook with them for awhile and then call it good.
He actually worked there alongside with them, usually in the kitchen as to not be seen by anyone he might know. It paid well and he got to make a lot of the food. Which had become a favorite hobby of Elfie’s, even if he didn’t share this with others. If everyone else knew that he could cook, they’d make him do it all the time and that would be work and Elfie just wasn’t about that. Nosiree, which made it even worse when Emrys brought up the very thing he was trying so hard to avoid.
Instantly Elfie shot his younger brother a glare fueled by death and rage itself, hoping his steely look would be enough to make Emrys back down.
Lucky for him, it was then that a crashing sound came from the stairs, which would hopefully be enough for everyone to forget about Elfie in the kitchen. Quickly, Elfie got up to his feet to go investigate the noise, stopping once he saw Morrigan in a pile of bear-gorilla girl on the floor of the stairs. Elfie tilted his head, amused by the sight. Well, well, well, what did they have here? The Witch School’s very own doctor, here, at their house, so early in the morning? Well, Elfie couldn’t help but wonder exactly why she was here this early at all, and by the looks of it, trying to sneak out.
With a chuckle, Elfie walked over to stand in front of Morrigan, a smirk tugged at the corners of Elfie’s mouth as he stared down at the pile of girl at the bottom of the stairs, hands on his hips and head cocked to the side. The boy let out a soft, bemused chuckle as he smirked down at the girl. ”Leaving so soon, Morrigan? But we didn’t even know you were here!” Elfie told her, placing a hand on his chest in mock surprise. Then it was very quickly replaced by another smirk, this one much more sly than the other. “Unless, that was the point...” he suggested, grinning. It was of course, only second nature for Elfie to suggest something scandalous going down in this household. Didn’t matter who with or why, Elfie would suggest it, and this was no different.
After all, he was the one that had started rumors of his eldest brother: Elijah, getting down with Tex and Celeste. Was it really all that surprising that Elfie would come to some sort of vaguely similar conclusion here? However, he pushed that aside for now and struck a hand out to the girl to help her up to her feet. ”Well, you’re already here, want any breakfast? It’s really good, I promise.” Plus he wasn’t kidding about feeding the rest to Princess if the rest of his siblings didn’t topple on down soon.

Arlo Ansel Muntz Son of Alpha & Appoline
Arlo gave Krunk another smile, placing his hand over his. ”Don’t worry Cupcake, I can handle your sister.” Zizi was nothing more than a pet that occasionally got to him. Arlo could handle her just fine. He knew how to deal with the obnoxious daughter of Yzma. Still though, it was cute to see Krunk concerned over him, even if he really didn’t have to be.
As Arlo was pulled up, he took the chance to trip and fall a little, landing on Krunk, where he stayed perhaps just a few moments longer than he needed to, what could he say? He’d take any opportunity he had to get close to Krunk. Sure he probably didn’t need an excuse now that they were actually dating and all, but even still, a small part of him felt as if he couldn’t just ask for affection and it was better to sneak any affection that he could get. Maybe it was ridiculous, but that part of him still stood by it’s way of thinking.
Following Krunk to the table, Arlo sat down and looked over all of the food Krunk had bought, blinking in surprise. ”...Wow, this is a lot of food, isn’t it?” He said, looking back to Krunk for a moment, gaze soft. ”Well, it all looks great,” he told his boyfriend, giving his hand a light squeeze as he began to get a plate of food, picking a few of the eggs, some of the bacon, and the hash browns and as soon as he had what he deemed enough, Arlo started to eat, making sure to leave the omelet for Krunk.
The breakfast really was good, much better than most of the food Arlo got on the Isle and definitely better than anything at his own house...which he would have to return to at some point today. He hadn’t actually told anyone that he wouldn’t be there last night and there was bound to be repercussions for that. However, at least for now, Arlo was content to stay with Krunk and enjoy any time he had with him.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
You’ve been out for awhile Basu, it’s time to wake up.
Basu blinked open his eyes, not yet moving from his spot. His head hurt. Perhaps not as bad as it did the day before, but there was still a dull aching, throbbing just underneath the skull. What had happened? Where was he? The leopon began to slowly sit up to get a better look. Earl’s room. Why was he in Earl’s room? The panther-lion turned his chocolate gaze down to see some torn up clothes draped across him.
Confusion flickered across his face as he reached a hand down to grab one of the cloths. Was this a shirt? A scarf?...A hat? Well, whatever it was it was torn up now and useless as clothes. Idly he dropped that to the side and focused on everything else, finally spotting a vaguely familiar blanket across him.
No. Was that... Was that Earl’s disgusting, grimy blanket that he had hoped to always stay a good ten feet away from, now resting comfortably across his lap?
Basu reached his hand back out to the blanket, picking it up and holding it in his hand. ”No...” he muttered weakly. Though it was safe to say that internally, once you got past the growing confusion, grogginess, and general dull aching, Basu was screaming in horror.
However despite the internal screaming, Basu’s reaction on the outside was surprisingly tame. In fact it seemed subdued. All of him did. Still coming out of it, Basu hadn’t fully registered everything yet, the confusion fuzzing up his mind just enough for him to sit there, subdued and quiet for a few moments.
That’s when he finally seemed to realize the boy next to him. ”Earl,” he started, pausing for a brief moment as he looked the hyena-jackal boy over. ”Earl, what...what happened? Why am I here?” He asked, gesturing his arms out to the room walls surrounding them.
Ugh okay Basu, it’s okay. Just...what was the last thing you remember? Basu leaned back, careful with his head as he thought about the question. Well he remembered leaving Earl’s room after making a fool of himself, and he could remember suggesting to himself that he should just transfer again to avoid any more embarrassing encounters. However beyond that everything began to get a little fuzzy.
...Earl was there. He could remember that much. Earl was there and they were talking...however that was really all that Basu could remember, no matter how hard he racked his brain in an attempt to discover more, to figure out why he was here or what happened after that.
Then another thought occurred to him.
”Earl, how long have I been here?” He questioned, patting the makeshift bed. Clearly he had fainted again. Basu could piece that together, but that didn’t explain much. ”How long was I out?” he clarified, feeling the need to further explain his question.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
After so long of just waiting for Basu to wake up, Earl himself had fallen asleep. He hadn’t meant to, but he had just been so comfortable curled up right next to the leopon and his bed was just so comfortable. It hadn’t taken much for him to slip into slumber right there beside the Auradon transfer. He was just so soft and warm and cozy. Earl loved it. He loved being snuggled right up against him. Basu even smelled good; he smelled like the chocolate he sometimes gave the hyena-jackal. How could he have stayed awake with something so comforting?
Had Basu not called out his name Earl would have more than likely slept for even longer. There was no reason for him to not sleep longer until the leopon started calling out his name.
After a few moments Earl opened his eyes. There was a split second of confusion that darted across his features, but only a second. The confusion was replaced with happiness and soon Earl had wrapped his arms around Basu as best as he could manage. He nuzzled up against the other boy. ”You’re alive! Basu, you’re, ahaha, alive! You ran away and the wall hit you! But you’re awake and alive now. Tara helped me bring you here. She said you wouldn’t die, and I trust her.” An odd little huff came from the canine boy, a sound of soft happiness. ”I took care of you, didn’t I?” Minus taking the nap of course, but that didn’t have to be mentioned. ”You weren’t out for long, ha!” Or at least it didn’t feel like it had been a long time, then again, Earl had no idea how long he himself had been out taking a nap. For all he knew it was now nighttime. If that were the case then it would be safer for Basu to just stay on the ship rather than head back to the transfers’ shack. Isle life was dangerous enough as it was, but at nighttime? That was a totally different story, and Earl wouldn’t want Basu out there alone. If Basu wanted to leave then Earl was going to go with him, no questions asked.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
Earl’s cuddling was nice and comfortable, and helped stop Basu’s growing panic stemmed from confusion. Basu still didn’t exactly know what was going on, or who Tara was, or how late it might be, and all of that unknowing caused panic to bloom inside him, however having Earl there did help. For a few moments, all Basu did was sit there, content to let Earl nuzzle against him until everything finally came back to him, or at least until some of the confusion died down.
Continuing to sit there, confused, Basu looked around the room again. Everything slowly but surely coming back to him. Bolting out of Earl’s room earlier after the embarrassment he has caused himself, running blindly around the ship without knowing where to go, Earl catching up to him, the boyfriend talk....
As that conversation came back to the leopon boy, a small, barely audible screech left him. Slowly he sunk down in the makeshift bed, hiding his face with his hands. Maybe he had knocked himself out on purpose, it could’ve been the only way to stop him. Maybe he had been doing himself a favor before, by crashing into a wall. Not that it helped now, as now he just had to live with this embarrassment for the rest of his life, and Earl had been there to witness all of it.
Basu timidly peaked through his fingers, watching the hyena-jackal boy for a few moments. He didn’t seem bothered by Basu’s embarrassing antics, in fact he still seemed like normal, happy, friendly Earl. Basu expected some sort of teasing or perhaps a few judging looks. Something other than just normal, cuddly Earl. Not that he was complaining of course, Earl was great.
”Earl...before I hit the wall, what...what were we discussing?” He questioned tentatively, still sinking as far down as he could go, but at least his hands weren’t covering his face anymore. Maybe it had been some weird dream he had made up, and in reality they had been talking about...bones. Yeah, bones. Basu vaguely remembered Earl mentioning bones while Basu was running around the ship, desperate for an exit. At least Basu could certainly hope that’s what they had actually been talking about.
The other option was much more....More. If that made any sense. That version lead to the whole awkward situation with Basu’s pitiful “okay” to becoming boyfriends with his friend. Who did that? Why would he do any of what had possibly happened then? It had to be some messed up dream. Had to. There was no other option.
Still though, what if it wasn’t? Would that be so bad? Earl seemed normal, or at least, normal for Earl. If Earl thought any less of Basu, he certainly wasn’t showing it, and if that conversation had actually happened, they would have to discuss it all a little more, but would it be so bad to have Earl as his boyfriend?
Basu thought long and hard on this question, looking down towards the blanket again. He liked Earl, that much was obvious. Earl might even like him back...Earl had never seemed to mind Basu’s less typically friendly nature and had often sought him out as well. Earl was everything Basu had rambled about earlier and more. If this amazing, slightly odd man liked him and wanted to be his boyfriend as well, would it really be that bad at all?
No, Basu decided. Having Earl as a boyfriend wouldn’t be that bad. In fact if wouldn’t be bad at all. It would actually be...nice. The thought warmed Basu, and he soon found himself smiling down at the blanket, face warm at the thought. It was an odd thought, but Basu had decided that he really wouldn’t mind if that conversation had happened, sure it had been embarrassing on so many levels, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t have lead up to something nice.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
Words couldn’t begin to describe how Earl felt now that Basu was awake once more. The hyena had been so scared that the leopon would never wake up. Tara had said to go find somebody if he didn’t wake up. That was solid advice. Earl would have probably gone to get somebody if Bagheera and Vitani’s son had continued to sleep even after the hyena had woken up. More than likely he would have searched for Tara. She seemed to know what she was doing when she had helped Earl out earlier. He would have been reluctant to leave Basu’s side, but he was reassured by the fact that his bones would have kept the other boy safe. His bones were nice to those Earl liked.
The hyena-jackal boy sat up somewhat, still hugging Basu when his sensitive ears caught the sound of the barely audible screech the leopon gave. Yellow eyes looked down in concern. ”Are you okay? Do I need to get Tara? She could help you, Basu, ha. We should let Tara know that you lived,” he pointed out with a firm nod. He was sure Tara would want to know if the transfer student had survived his second head injury or not. Maybe she’d be proud of him. Of course, she would be proud of him. Surviving on the Isle was hard, especially with head injuries, and Basu had lived through not only one, but two all within the same twenty-four hour period. Now that was impressive. If he could get through that then he was full on Isle material. Earl was proud of the guy. Proud of his boyfriend. His boyfriend.
A smile tugged at Earl’s lips. He had never been able to call somebody his boyfriend before. He had never been able to call somebody his girlfriend, either. The thought alone caused warmth to flood through the canine. Earl snuggled even closer to Basu but made sure to stay aware of the feline’s bruises and injuries from yesterday and now from today. He was sure Basu felt the same way about this. They were boyfriends now. True, official boyfriends. That felt nice to think about.
With Basu’s question, Earl turned to look at him again. The smile was still on his face and he sat back down, pressing up against his new boyfriend. ”We were talking about my bones. You can have one, okay? I think I know a good one for you to have, ha!” Oh yeah, he knew the perfect bone for Basu. It would make a great bone companion for him. ”We also talked about boyfriends, and we’re boyfriends now, Basu! Now we can do so much more together! Are you gonna tell your Auradon friends? What about Bala, she should know, right? Or I can meet her and tell her, yeah!” He squirmed around underneath the grimy blanket and old clothes, excitement bubbling through him. ”I like being your boyfriend, it’s fun. I’ve never had one before, so you’re gonna have to teach me how to be the best boyfriend I can be.” This was a big thing for Earl. Never once had he dated somebody or been somebody’s significant other. This was something new for the hyena-jackal, a learning process for not only him but for Basu as well. They could learn all of the boyfriend things together.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
Basu still didn’t know who this Tara was. A friend of some sort. Maybe Basu would get the chance to meet her personally some day. However he would be fine with that day not being today. Right now Basu didn’t even feel like getting up, and that was saying something considering he wasn’t exactly fond of the “bed” he was currently sitting on. ”I’m fine, Earl, really. My head just hurts a little,” he reassured the hyena-jackal softly with a small wave of his hand.
He stayed quiet as Earl went on to explain the conversation they had been having prior to this. At the mention of bones, Basu both felt relief and an odd sense of regret. So that was it then. The whole boyfriend topic had been some sort of weird dream meant to torture him. Good to know. Basu looked down, idly playing with the blanket’s corner. ”Right...bones,” he said, a small sigh of disappointment escaping him. This was good. Yeah. This was what he had wanted. This saved him from at least a little bit of embarrassment. This was a good thing.
Then why did it feel so disappointing?
Basu didn’t have much time to wallow over this for longer, as Earl continued on and his ears quickly perked up. Basu turned to look back at the hyena-jackal, perhaps just a little too quickly as his head began to hurt, but at the moment he didn’t seem to care. He blinked in surprise when it came into light that yes, the boyfriend conversation had happened and ended in success. ”Boyfriends. We’re boyfriends,” he repeated, looking the other boy over for a few moments.
He had a boyfriend now. Earl was officially his boyfriend. At first Basu didn’t know how to react. He had never had a significant other before. Crushes, yes. But actual relationships? No. It was hard to believe it, but here he was. It didn’t take him long to decide on how to feel now. Happy. That’s what he was. Sure this meant that all of that embarrassing stuff had actually happened, but it had lead to this, and that made it all worth it.
Basu’s dark chocolate eyes watched over Earl for a moment, really taking the time to appreciate him. His dark, dusky skin, his stunning yellow eyes, his short and curly dark hair, the bit of pudge that he had to him, even his round, larger than normal ears. Maybe he wasn’t conventionally handsome, but Basu thought he looked good. Maybe it was from the hit to his head, or maybe it was just because, with everything that had happened, Basu wanted to be closer to him, but in that moment, he didn’t seem to care and acting on impulse the leopon boy leaned against Earl, rubbing against him like a large, needy cat as he snuggled in closer, a soft, quiet purr emitting from him. Basu didn’t purr very often, but this seemed to be an occasion worth purring for.
The son of Bagheera and Vitani cuddled up close to Earl, not minding the slight dull aching that came from his bruises. He nuzzled his boyfriend, purr not stopping. ”I like being your boyfriend too,” he decided, and he really did. Even if he had only just discovered that he had a boyfriend.
This was a happy moment, one meant for cuddling and purrs. Nothing could ruin it. Not even the worries that were already attempting to eat away at him. Such as how his family would react, especially the ones that had come with him. All within three days of being on the Isle, Basu had a boyfriend...one neither sister nor cousin had actually met yet. That wouldn’t be a fun conversation, especially not with Bala. It was also occurring to the leopon that he hadn’t yet met Earl’s own family. That would also not be fun. He had hardly met the crew.
There would be a lot to explain to others, and Basu still didn’t actually know what he was supposed to do now, but those were concerns for another time. They weren’t what mattered right now. What did matter was Earl and that they were now boyfriends and that was still a lot to take in.
”I haven’t ever had one before either,” Basu reminded Earl, nuzzling up to him about as close as he could go for now. ”We’ll have to figure this out together.” It would be an adventure. One Basu was ready for.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
All that mattered right now was that Basu was awake. He was alive and well, and that’s what mattered. Had he not woken up the hyena-jackal would have surely experienced a type of concern he had never felt before. He would have hated himself for a long while had Basu not come out of this okay. Though maybe Yzma could have proven to be useful yet again, or maybe he would have tracked down Tara, follow her scent, and have her do something to the leopon. He trusted the crocodile girl, looked up to her even. If he couldn’t find somebody like Sanura or Zane - looking for Hal by this point was useless - then Tara would be his next option. Or perhaps Batini and Shomari. Going to them would be beneficial as well. Thinking about it, Earl had a lot of people he could go to for help. The thought calmed him down. Being part of a pirate crew was helpful, especially when everybody had the others’ backs. And now Basu had the crew to help him. That made Earl happy. As long as he could help it and as long as Basu was part of the crew, the leopon boy had a wide arrange of people there to help him out when it was needed.
The canine boy nuzzled up even closer against Basu. The transfer was warm and just overall soft. He was a lot more comfortable than the floor they were laying on, and that was saying something. Earl had always found his floor to be quite comfortable. ”If you need anything I can get it for you. Hugs are the best way to help, though. Hugs and water and warm blankets,” he mused softly, nuzzling his head against the crook of Basu’s neck and shoulder. Pressed up against Basu, Earl easily heard the soft purr that was coming from the leopon. A wide grin came across the boy’s face. ”You should purr more often, it’s nice.” Now this was what Earl considered perfect, spending time cuddling his best friend - his boyfriend - and listening to him purr. As a member of Serpent Prep he heard purrs all the time; he had always wanted to learn how to purr, yet as a hyena and jackal hybrid that never happened. He was still optimistic about it, though. As long as he tried hard enough then one day it would all work out and he’d be able to purr. So as a practice round he started rolling his tongue at the back of his throat, creating an odd whining noise that vibrated against the roof of his mouth. It tickled, which in response caused him to laugh. ”That feels funny, keke. Does it feel funny when you, aha, purr?” Asked the son of Ed. This was an important question that needed an answer. He had asked Nanji and Sanura and many of the other cats before, yet they had given him unsatisfactory answers. They had all told him that purring did not feel funny when Earl was sure that purring felt funny in somebody’s throat. There was no way it didn’t feel funny. Earl had strong opinions about that.
Something he also had many opinions on was his boyfriend status with Basu. To him it was the best thing to have ever happened. It was even better than the chocolate he had been given. Having a boyfriend was amazing, it was like having a best friend, but there was more to it. A realization then hit Earl right in the face. He paused, yellow eyes glinting with something like concern. He had never had a boyfriend before so he had no idea how a lot of things worked, but he knew a few things about how boyfriends worked. ”Basu..?” He started tentatively. ”Are we gonna have to kiss? I’ve seen boyfriends do that before, but I don’t know if I want to do that… I could lick you, though! Licking is fun, haha, I like licking things!” Because licking was so much better than kissing, obviously. Good going, Earl. You sure do know how to get come up with an alternative plan for kissing.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
Basu loved cuddling. He didn’t get to do it very often, especially considering he didn’t exactly have anyone to cuddle in the first place, but that didn’t stop him from loving every second of it. Earl especially was nice to cuddle. He was warm and undeniably comfortable, there was something almost soft and plushy about him that made him the perfect candidate for cuddling. In Basu’s mind there was nothing as comforting, safe, and relaxing as cuddling, which meant that this was perfect. The leopon boy would have liked to stay there forever, comfortably pressed against Earl as they snuggled with each other, an uncontrollable, soft purr escaping him.
Speaking of purrs, it didn’t seem to take long for his to be mentioned. Earl thought he should purr more. Basu hadn’t ever thought much about his purring. For him it was mostly an involuntary thing that only happened in moments of peace and relaxation, times he was both very happy and entirely relaxed. Which wasn’t often. It wasn’t easy for the son of Bagheera and Vitani to relax. Still though, at Earl’s request, Basu let out a louder, more defining purr in response, this one filling the space in the room like a motor going off. ”Like that?” he questioned playfully, slowing the purr down until it had gone back to the soft rumble it had been before. ”Maybe I’ll have to purr more often,” he decided in agreement to Earl, wrapping an arm around him to pull his boyfriend a little closer.
As Earl attempted his own purr, Basu let out a small laugh, shaking his head slightly. It was a nice try. ”Well, it doesn’t exactly feel weird,” he started to answer his question. ”It’s a calming feeling. Soothing,” Basu explained. ”See, purring comes from the laryngeal muscles, the-“ The transfer student paused. How could he properly explain purring to Earl in a way that he would understand? The whole point was to explain purring to his new boyfriend, and if he wanted to do that, he needed to change tactics.
”Okay, so do you know where our vocal cords are?” Basu questioned, shifting a little to show Earl what he meant, still pressed against the boy, but now in a better position, sitting upright, with his hands out in front of him. ”Well, there’s this space in between our vocal cords, it’s called the glottis, and the laryngeal muscles are responsible for opening and closing those spaces in our vocal cords, and when a cat purrs, it comes from a signal from our neural oscillators to the laryngeal muscles, that will then open the glottis just right for the purr to come out,” he explained, gesturing with his hands as if to try and show what he meant.
Of course. That wasn’t as simple a description as Basu had originally been going for. ”Basically we have these muscles that push and pull these gaps in our vocal cords, and we can send them a message so they can purr for us, does that make sense?” He asked, glancing over at Earl. Watching him for a second, Basu smirked as a thought came to him, one he knew the hyena-jackal boy would appreciate.
”You know, Earl, cats aren’t the only creatures that can purr. Some animals like squirrels, rabbits, raccoons...even hyenas, can purr,” he explained lightly. Granted, this purring was limited strictly to spotted hyenas, and even then it didn’t sound quite as natural as a cat purr, but it was still considered purring. Wouldn’t it be funny if Earl could purr all along and just didn’t know this? The thought earned a light chuckle from Basu. Maybe he could teach him how to purr. Of course, he had no idea what kind of hyena Earl was, or if that jackal he smelled from him would interfere with that, but still, there was a chance that Earl could learn to purr.
However all thoughts on purring were quickly replaced when Earl brought up kissing. In the long run, he figured that kissing would have to come up, he just also hadn’t quite expected it to come up like this. Moving so that he was looking at Earl, Basu offered him a small smile. ”Earl, I don’t really care about kissing. The thought doesn’t gross me out or anything, but I see no need for it.” If Basu was going to kiss someone, it would be for his significant other’s benefit, not his, and if his boyfriend didn’t want to kiss, that was fine with him. ”I only want to do what you are comfortable with, okay? I don’t want you to do anything you don’t want to do in this relationship. If we’re going to be together, I want to make sure we’re both comfortable with it. If there’s anything that you don’t want to do, or wouldn’t feel comfortable with, let me know and we won’t do it,” Basu told him reassuringly.
”Maybe we should go over our limits now?” Basu suggested, scooted a little further away from Earl, no longer cuddling, just in case that was also a little too much for the hyena-jackal. ”I don’t really care what we do or don’t do. Cuddling is nice, and I like holding your hand and hugging you, but if any of that isn’t something you want to do either, we don’t have to. It’s whatever you want to do, alright?” Basu asked, looking Earl over for a moment or so.

Vale Raptor-Rex son of pellucidar velociraptor and tyrannosaurus rex
Relief flooded the velociraptor-T. Rex hybrid when his wife agreed to his suggestion without a flash of teeth or a warning growl from deep within her throat. Vale would be lying if he said he didn’t have a small part of him that was afraid of Vera. One wrong move and she could very easily kill him. As the alpha she was faster, stronger, more capable than he was. And if he had to be honest if she tried to do anything to him he wouldn’t be able to defend himself. He would accept his punishment, his fate. If he done something to elicit a full blown attack from his wife then he very well deserved it. He also wouldn’t have his death any other way. Being felled by his wife would be the way to go because at least it would guarantee that she’d be the last thing he would ever see.
He tilted his head into her touch when he felt a claw caress his cheek and jaw. A single relaxed chirrr came from the male raptor-rex. ”Sounds good,” he murmured in response, a soft smile dancing across his face. He knew their little girls could be quite a handful, and he definitely had more scars from their biting than he could count, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. He loved his family no matter what.
It didn’t take him long to get cleaned up. All he really needed to do was get a change of clothes on. One of the pheasants had proved to be a bit more difficult to kill, struggling more and flapping its wings like wild. The bird had even gotten in a few harsh pecks that had drew a good amount of blood before Vale had finally be able to take the creature and snap its neck.
Coming back to the kitchen, he noticed that his wife had already halfway finished up the first bird. She was always quick when it came to such things.
He watched as his wife and youngest went on upstairs to get some more rest. Holding up his part of the deal he went to get the three eldest girls, tapping on their door before heading in. As he walked in he noticed both Velvet and Valley atop the triplets’ bed, the five of them snapping playfully at one another, actually relatively quiet due to the triplets still groggy from sleep. ”Get on up now,” he called to them, motioning with his head for them to listen. ”You can’t eat if you’re asleep or in bed.” This seemed to grab their attention. This got them into gear, the five running along to get themselves ready for the day. With the kids now up and at it Vale went back to the kitchen, finishing up with the birds and beginning to cook them. As the birds cooked he went ahead and got out a few eggs, some that he had found a few days back from another pheasant pair. He would much rather have these eggs - the ones they got from Auradon never were the freshest.
Eventually Vale had breakfast finished. Before doing anything else he put some meat and eggs on five plates, taking them over to the little table for the triplets and twins. ”Come eat,” he called over to the five before heading back to take another plate and pile it up with meat and eggs. With Vera’s plate in hand he made his way upstairs to their room, making sure to be quiet enough to not wake Vivian but obvious enough that Vera knew he was present.

Blossom Negasi daughter of bellwether and doug
What Zane said was something she knew. Deep down she knew it to be true, and she didn’t see this place as a prison. She didn’t quite see it as home yet, either, but she for sure didn’t see this as a jail cell. Back with her parents had been more of a prison than this place. Back there almost all of her actions had been monitored, her parents practically breathing down her neck, urging her to do better, to be better. They had tried so many times to use her to get them their Night Howler business back and of course she had failed over and over again. They had never been happy about that, not at all. Blossom had to endure so much from the two sheep, her mother ruthless and cruel, her father practically doing whatever Bellwether told him to. She was glad that her little half-sister and half-brother, Lavender and Leon, didn’t live there. If they had to go through what Blossom had to...well, she would probably actually ask her new husband to do something about that. And by something that meant letting Zane make a meal out of two abusive sheep parents.
She nuzzled into him once more, sighing softly. He was already just so considerate towards her. He made her feel like she actually mattered for once. ”I know,” she breathed softly, words gentle as she pulled away to look at him once more. Before she could stop herself she reached out and placed a hand softly on his cheek. A ghost of a smile pulled at her lips. Yeah, she could easily see herself falling in love with the lion.
Even as the topic changed to going into mafia territory, Blossom stayed against Zane, finding comfort in being so close to him. ”I’d like that. I mean, I want to let at least somebody know…” Somebody she trusted, somebody who deserved to know, somebody who she didn’t want to make think that she had just got up and left one day. Two people came to mind right then. ”I want to let Lavender and Leon know, my little sister and brother. That’s all I want.” Surely Zane would understand. They were Isle kids, sure, the offspring of what Auradon deemed as villains, but almost every kid on this hellish island would do anything and everything for their siblings, and Blossom was sure Zane would understand that.
What had she done to deserve such an understanding guy? She was so lucky that he hadn’t already been married off or something else. What if she had been paired up with somebody else that wasn’t as understanding and kind toward her? ”Thank you.” She just felt like she needed to say that, like she needed to thank him for being so considerate. Thank him for being so accommodating for her and what she wanted to do.

Sanura Negasi daughter of scar
Susan. She hated that name, but she supposed it was only fair for her to be called such a thing. She had messed up Claude’s name wayback when so being called Susan was practically the least worst thing any de Vil could do to her. Even though she deserved worse, way worse. She had made Collie uncomfortable by falling for her. She had practically torn out Claude’s heart and then eaten it right in front of her when she had killed him. The twins had killed Sammy, sure, but that was a minor scratch compared to the deeply bedded wounds she had given both Collie and Claude. The boy’s death had broken Sanura in its own way, but she had done more damage to herself than anything. To this day her right hand still ached and acted up from where she had punched her wall hard enough to shatter the bones in her hand. Of course it hadn't healed correctly and it still gave her fits of pain, especially when it was going to rain.
Right now there was no pain in her hand. Right now there was no pain in her shoulder or eye. Right now all the pain was in her chest, threatening to strangle her. There was no way she could be angry right now, not when her heart felt like it was ripping out of her rib cage. Last night she had been angry with Claude in some weird way. Last night she had charged at the de Vil to get her to leave, but right now she didn't have it in her to charge or even raise her voice. Despite everything all she had in her was the need to be close to somebody. Snuggling up against Addie had worked wonders for the lioness, but there was something that being close to an old love could only do. Right now it felt like only Claude could temporarily patch up the wound in her heart. Only Claude could heal her even if the healing wouldn't last.
As her predatory gaze stared Claude down she felt her heart splinter and mend itself both. It was a breathtaking feeling, something that had no words to describe it. It was like finding fresh water after days without it only for that water to be ridden with parasites. No, it was worse than that. Some things just couldn't be described in words but the emotions were there without a doubt.
It was at the moment she started stumbling toward Claude that one thought as clear as day came into her mind. She reached up with her hand and tore away the gauze that was covering her right eye. Sanura wanted to see the de Vil with both of her eyes, though in her current state she hadn't quite registered that she no longer could see in that eye. What she didn't realize was that she would never have sight in that eye ever again. Gaston’s blade had taken that away from her.
The wound stung as it was exposed to the air, but she accepted the pain. In fact she craved it. The pain felt absolutely thrilling as she fell into Claude’s grasp.
It had been too long since she had last felt those lips against her very own. Too much time had passed between this kiss and the last. Sanura was sure this would end before she wanted it to. Claude would disappear like she always did. She would fade into the shadows, but right now that didn’t matter. Right now Sanura just wanted to be close to her, wanted to feel her touch once more. It had been so long...so long…
What she wanted the most was to stay like that forever, wrapped in Claude’s embrace. That didn’t happen. She vaguely recalled hearing the de Vil girl saying something about taking her home. The kiss must have taken a lot out of the lioness as she was now practically limp as the Dragon Hall female took her back to the docks. The only thing that told Sanura that they were entering into the heart of her territory was the cry of gulls and the sharp scent of salt water in the air. The lioness barely moved on her own or said a word until she was settled into a chair and surrounded by the familiarity of the captain’s quarters. Claude was still here. Claude was still with her. She had yet to fade away like she so often did.
”Claude,” she breathed as a hand come up to cover her injured eye. Blood was oozing from the wound now that it was uncovered and the gauze had been ripped from it. ”Claude…” She breathed again, struggling to form full sentences now. ”Night Howler…”

Jenny Wilde daughter of nick and judy
If it didn’t happen in the room she was in then Jenny didn’t eavesdrop on any conversations - or she at least tried to. With her mother being a rabbit and her father being a fox her hearing was uncanny. She could hear things that not many other people could. Because of this she had caught a few instances of conversation between the Singh twins, Basu and Bala. The inflection of their voices told her that they were arguing over something, or, well, not really arguing, but close enough. It was a tone of voice that was somewhat hard to put into terms, but with how many siblings Jenny herself had she knew that tone all too well.
Her attention wasn’t fully piqued until the door to her room opened up. She turned her green gaze to spot Bala coming in, a wide smile crossing her face which made her buck teeth all the more prominent. ”Morning, Bala!” She chirped. While she was already a very happy and cheerful girl she always felt that much more cheery when her leopon roommate was around. Everything about being on the Isle would be perfect if their other roommate back on Auradon had been able to join them - Honoka Hamada. It was still a little odd to not have her around, Jenny sometimes catching herself turning around about to say something to Honoka before remembering that she wasn’t here with them. It was always a bit saddening, but Jenny always picked herself up after reminding herself that her friend was enjoying herself back home on Auradon.
All these thoughts were thrown away the moment Bala mentioned a pirate.
Hal.
The fox-rabbit shot up to her feet, all four feet and nine inches of her straightening up as tall as she could go. It took all of her willpower to not rush out of the room and head for Hal. If he was here then he needed help. When she had last spoken to him he seemed reluctant to continue anything, but here he was, volunteering to come see her.
She shook her head in Bala’s direction when she remembered that the leopon had asked a question. ”No, no, don’t tell him to leave. Tell him I’ll be right there!” Before she got an answer from her roommate she hopped over to her bed, pulling out the journal she had been working on a few minutes ago. ”Bring him on in here if you don’t mind, I need to get a few things set up.” She had her journal, but was there anything else she needed? Hal would need a place to sit and feel comfortable. Would her bed be an okay place for him? She sure hoped so. The bed was about the only place where somebody could sit unless they wanted to sit on the floor of the room. Jenny was fine with that, Hal could sit where ever he felt the most comfortable, but she wanted to offer something better than the floor for him at first.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
Just like Basu the jackyena adored cuddles. They were something he loved, and he never got as many as he wanted. He, of course, would get cuddles here and there from friends and various other crew members - some cuddles forced after Earl bugged somebody for so long - but he never had a session of cuddling quite like this one he was having right now. There was something about Basu that was just so soft and warm. He was like a big, comfortable pillow that one would imagine everybody in Auradon having access to. It was something Earl loved, and what he loved about Basu. The son of Ed felt a warm and tingly sensation in the pit of his stomach. It felt weird, made him squirm, but he liked it. He liked it as much as he liked Basu.
Something else he really liked about Basu was the purring. It made him even cuter than he already was, and Earl already found Basu to be extremely cute. The hyena-jackal also liked how the purrs vibrated against him. With how close they were right now the purrs could be smaller than what they were and Earl would still be able to feel them. ”You should always purr,” the somewhat pudgy boy replied. The leopon really did need to purr more often, it was amazing. He loved the sound and feel of it. If only he could purr. He made so many other odd noises that surely purring would be something he could do. Maybe he could he just hadn’t figured it out yet. That’s why Basu was going to explain it all to him so that he could figure out how to purr himself. But as soon as the leopon started to get into the technical terms with the anatomy, Earl was lost.
The hyena-jackal cocked his head to the side, eyes alight with confusion. He had never heard of such words before. They sounded downright funny, made up even, but Basu would never ever make up a word, Earl knew that. What this ‘laryngeal’ muscle was and ‘glottis’ was, it was real. Earl trusted Basu no matter what, even if he was speaking something that sounded more like Goblin gibberish than actual English. The jackyena found himself huffing with laughter, an odd rumbling moo noise coming from him. ”I know where the vocal cords are, yeah, yeah.” He nodded. The son of Ed brought a hand up to his throat and pointed. ”There they are, ha!” When it came to anatomy Earl only knew so much. He had never been taught anything beyond the basics. He knew his legs, his arms, stomach, and so on. He obviously knew about his vocal cords, but anything beyond the basics and he was clueless. It wasn’t surprising that he was so uneducated on such things considering this was the same guy that was illiterate and couldn’t even write his own name. Somehow the basics had gone right over his head when he had been a child; maybe one day he would learn how to do things such as write and read, but for now that wasn’t important to the boy.
Even if a lot of what Basu was saying didn’t make much sense to Earl, he listened and nodded along, trying to absorb all he could. ”That makes sense, Basu! I’ll have to try out my own larygel muscles,” he chimed, butchering the word, but at least it was obvious enough what word he was actually trying to say.
Then Basu said something that could very well change Earl’s very life as he knew it.
The hyena boy froze. He knew deep down that he could purr, but he had never been told that, yes, hyenas could indeed purr. He knew cats could, had always known that. Even the lions purred despite being big cats, and big cats actually couldn’t purr. But this was the Isle and the Isle said ‘screw you’ to basic biology. If basic biology was used here then a hyena and jackal couldn’t have bred to create Earl or anything else like that.
After the initial information was thrown at him and had time to register in the boy’s mind, Earl perked up. He took his arms from around Basu and wrapped them around his neck, pulling the leopon even closer somehow. ”I can purr, Basu! I can purr! I always knew I could, ahahahaaha!” Laughter reverberated in his chest and was loud enough to echo. The happy laughter didn’t die down until about a minute later. The excitement was still there, though. ”I’ll be able to purr just like you. We can purr together and show everybody on the Isle that I can purr, isn’t that great? Aha,” he snort-laughed, an excited deep sounding whoop escaping him.
It wasn’t long for the topic of purring to be replaced with yet another topic - the one of kissing.
Kissing wasn’t something Earl had ever worried about before. Then again, he had never had a significant other. If there was one thing he knew about dating somebody is that kissing happened. He had seen it a lot, but to him it just wasn’t appealing. It was something he just never had the urge to do. He felt some nervous butterflies flutter inside his stomach. What if Basu really enjoyed kissing? What would happen if the leopon wanted to kiss on a regular basis and knowing that Earl wasn’t a fan of that made him second guess their status as boyfriends? The butterflies turned into worry, a feeling of dread washing over him. He really liked Basu and wanted to be his boyfriend. They had only just started being boyfriends, he didn’t want to end it now. Didn’t want to end it ever, really. So when Basu spoke up and mentioned how he didn’t mind it either way, Earl instantly sagged with relief. He hadn’t even realized just how tense he had gotten in a span of only a few seconds.
A smile lifted his lips upward. ”Oh, Basu, thank you, thank you! I was so scared!” As soon as Basu scooted away he leaned over and wrapped around the leopon once more. Now cuddling was something he could do all day. ”I like cuddles and holding your hand and hugs! You’re really soft and warm, so that makes it much better. I don’t really wanna kiss, though. That seems weird. Bati and Nanji do that sometimes, and I’ve seen Chase and Njeri do it, too. They like it, but I don’t.” He shook his head, tongue sticking out and nose wrinkled in disgust. ”That’s why they have babies,” he huffed adamantly. ”Kissing makes babies, but babies are cute. I’d kiss you if you wanted a baby, Basu.” With innocent eyes he looked at his boyfriend. Other than having a possible family with the leopon one day, Earl was fine without kissing. He would leave that for other couples while he and Basu could cuddle for as long as they wanted. Cuddling was nice. Kissing, not so much.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
Well at least Earl knew where all the basics were. Basu hadn’t been sure how much Earl would know, it wasn’t as if the Isle, especially Serpent Prep had a stellar school program, and even if they did, no one would attend anyways. Basu didn’t blame Earl for not knowing other things though. It wasn’t his fault that he wasn’t properly educated. Maybe slowly, Basu could help with that. After all, he’d always be happy to help his boyfriend out.
At Earl’s excitement over the purring news, Basu smiled as he was pulled even closer to the hyena-jackal. By now it would be quite the feat if they could somehow end up cuddling closer still. A part of Basu almost wanted to test just how much closer they could somehow end up in this cuddling session. However he didn’t move any closer, instead he just let out a light, small laugh in response to Earl’s own laughter. ”Maybe I can teach you how to purr sometime, I think you’ll be able to do it, you just have to learn how, unlock your purr...sort of,” Basu explained, gesturing his hand out lightly in front of him.
However that seemed to be it for the purring conversation right now as that’s when kissing had come into the conversation, and instead of trying to move closer to Earl like he had originally planned, instead he had scooted away. He had doubted that Earl actually did mind the cuddling, considering he more often than not initiated it, however Basu couldn’t be sure until Earl confirmed it for himself. Yes to cuddling, hugging, and hand holding, no to kissing. Basu was more than alright with those terms. As someone who had never really cared either way, he had no preference with kissing or other such activities. Never saw what the big deal was, never had the urge for anything, never felt the desire to kiss someone, crush or otherwise. He just hadn’t ever deemed it necessary. That wasn’t to say that he was against any of it, just indifferent.
What he did like though, was cuddling. This sort of close, comfortable, wholesome touch, he craved it. He liked being able to wrap his arms around someone and pull them close, nuzzling them. He liked the idea of snuggling under a blanket on a cold night or a rainy day. Basu liked the very concept of cuddling, and if Earl wasn’t ready to call it quits today, then neither was he. So when Earl wasted no time to wrap his arms around the leopon boy once again, Basu could only return the favor and nuzzled back up against his boyfriend without so much of a second thought.
”You don’t have to thank me, Earl. We’re equal parts in this relationship. Partners. You should never have to do anything you don’t want to do, and I’ve never cared for it anyways,” Basu told him, nuzzling up into the crook of the his neck. ”Besides, that’s not what makes a relationship,” continued the son of Bagheera and Vitani. Kissing was far from the reason he wanted to be Earl’s boyfriend and certainly didn’t have to be part of their relationship. Not if Earl didn’t want it do be.
Though Basu paused for a second once Earl brought up babies, a sort of chocked out lion chuff coming from him. ”Woah, I think it’s a little soon for that talk,” Basu started, pulling away from the embrace to look back at Earl. ”Let’s not worry about that for a while.” A long while if Basu had anything to say about it. Not only was it impossible for them to just kiss and poof a baby into existence, but they were also both male, so even if they did want to create a baby, that was already out of the question. It seemed that that was another topic that his all too innocent boyfriend knew nothing about and Basu wasn’t about to clue him in anytime soon. Basu was more than happy without a child for another many good years. Luckily for him, that goal of his should be very easily attainable, considering he and Earl couldn’t have a child together no matter what, there would be no accidental baby in his future, and just knowing that brought a wave of relief to the leopon boy. However, he still didn’t want to linger any further on this topic.
Instead, he changed the subject. ”Earl, uhm...” Basu started as he tried to think of something to change the topic to, clearing his throat. Then suddenly it came to him, a reminder in the back of his head and in that moment it was as if a lightbulb had gone off directly above him. One of those “aha” moments to distract from their previous conversation - which Basu had no desire to continue - so with a smile, he continued. ”Would you like to learn how to purr? I’m sure I could teach you, if you’re interested,” he suggested, pulling back a little more so he could focus on teaching Earl how to purr. A much better topic of discussion than kissing babies into existence, if you were to ask him.
Sitting back with his hands in his lap, he looked across at Earl, already diving into it without waiting for a response. ”See, purring, it’s easy,” he started, smiling over at Earl. ”It’s a feeling, it sort of just comes to you, usually at your happiest. Purring is a way to express joy, contentment, and relaxation. It’s not so much something you think about, and more of something you just do,” he paused for a moment, getting situated. ”like this...” With that the son of Bagheera and Vitani let out a low purr, it vibrating from him like a tired house cat. His brown eyes watched Earl as he did this, grabbing the hyena’s hand to bring up to his throat, where the purr originated from. ”Feel that?” He questioned, letting out another loud purr. ”You try,” Basu encouraged, letting go of Earl’s hand. ”Remember, it’s more of a feeling than a thought. Like how you feel happiness, or you feel contentment. You should feel your purr too.”
As Basu went on further to explain purring to the boy before him, another thought occurred to him. Earl hadn’t grown up having the ability to purr. Well, he did, but it wasn’t the same as Basu, who had instinctively known how to do it from a young age. Earl however, hadn’t. It might take more than just telling him to feel the purr, and more of helping him with that very process. What would make Earl feel relaxed, or joyful? He already seemed to be a pretty happy guy. Basu wasn’t sure what could amplify that. ”Earl, what are some things that make you content? When do you feel your happiest?” He asked, cocking his head to the side. Maybe that would be a good place to start.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
If they could get any closer Earl would for sure do it. He wanted to be as close as possible to Basu in the current moment. The hyena-jackal boy was happy enough to cuddle against his boyfriend and listen to him purr. The purring was soothing and caused a smile to come across Earl’s features. He could lay here all day and listen to the leopon purr. Scratch that, he could lay here forever and listen to the purrs. ”I can get my purr to work because you’ll be helping me. Then we can purr together all day! That’ll be fun, aha, a lot of fun!” It was exciting to think about, being able to purr with Basu. Maybe if they purred together they would purr really loudly. That would be fun, and Earl wanted to try it out once he learned how to make his own purr.
The thought of purring was pushed to the side for now. Purring was one thing, but kissing was another. Purring made him happy while kissing left a sour taste in the back of his throat. It left him nervous. Kissing just wasn’t something he had ever had the inclination to do. If Basu wanted to do that, then he could do it, but luckily for him Basu didn’t mind either way. Earl had found the perfect boyfriend, somebody who would much rather cuddle than anything else. Now that was what the son of Ed enjoyed. Being close to the person he loved, having that physical connection with them, that’s what he wanted. That was how he showed his affection, not by kissing or anything else, but by offering himself for cuddles and hugs, for nuzzles and purrs. It was connections with those he cared about that made Earl happy. Physical contact was nice, but only in certain forms. And he was so, so glad that Basu felt the same.
Warmth flooded over him as Basu reassured him that they would never have to do something they weren’t comfortable with. They were partners in this relationship, equals in all sense of the word. He liked that. He liked being on the same level as Basu. That was a first for the hyena-jackal, being put on the same level as somebody else. It was a nice feeling that mingled with all the other nice emotions he was having right now.
Now came the topic of kids. Earl liked them, and he would like to have his own kids one day, especially if he would get to have kids with Basu. They would make great parents, and Earl had so many ideas for what he could do with kids; they could go looking for bones, or they could look for those stars that Basu had talked about the other day. He would make sure any kid of his had fun and loved their life. He was old enough to be a dad by now so it wouldn’t be weird for him to have a kid, especially now that he had a boyfriend. Usually when somebody got into a relationship the next step was marriage and then a kid, or a kid and then marriage. Even if Basu was saying it was too soon for that talk, Earl couldn’t help but give a comment about it before changing the subject. ”I’d like to have a kid with you one day, heh. We’d have a fun family.” The thought was endearing, something that Earl would enjoy thinking about whenever he had the time to daydream.
Oh right, purring. Yeah, that was important.
Earl’s body moved in an excited wiggle. He nodded vigorously. ”Yeah, yeah! Ahahaha, I wanna know how to purr!” The canine nuzzled into Basu, huffing happily. He glanced up at the leopon as he pulled back somewhat, Earl’s pale yellow eyes meeting Basu’s chocolate brown ones. He believed him no matter what, if he said purring was easy then purring was easy. All Earl had to do was listen to Basu and soon he’d be able to purr as well. It couldn’t be that hard, now could it?
The son of Ed and Kijana soaked in all the information he was getting as the leopon went on to discuss how to purr. He nodded in understanding, placing all of this into his memory and hoping it would stick. Purring was important to him so remembering it shouldn’t be that hard. ”I feel happy a lot, so I can do this,” he chirped, a deep rumble coming from him at the same time. Now that he knew purring happened when somebody felt happy he was sure he could do it, he just needed to remember to try it out when he was happy. Luckily that happened a lot for him. He listened intently to Basu as his boyfriend went on to purr once more, the sound soothing to the hyena-jackal. He could listen to the son of Bagheera and Vitani purr all day if he could.
What made him extremely excited was when Basu took his hand and placed it on his throat. Earl’s eyes widened when he felt the soft vibrations of the purrs as they rippled along. ”I feel it, yeah! Are you sure it doesn’t tickle?” He questioned with a tilt of his head, hand falling down as Basu let go of it.
What were some things that made him feel content - he assumed that word meant something like happy - or what made him feel at his happiest? It took him a moment, but he soon perked up when thoughts came into mind. ”When I find a bone! Or when I get to play with Nandra, yeah! Holding your hand and cuddling with you makes me very happy, too,” he chuffed, once again nuzzling against the feline. Basu made him extremely happy. ”If I think about you can I purr?” He asked, eyes wide and hopeful. The leopon made him considerably happy, so surely by thinking of him he could purr without a problem. He would be making cat noises by the end of the day if Basu’s idea worked, and Earl had the utmost confidence that the feline knew what he was doing when it came to teaching another person how to purr.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
Basu’s cheeks flushed with warmth when Earl got in his last comment about kids. Earl already seemed set on their future together, which would apparently include children at some point. Basu didn’t know how things worked on the Isle, but at least on Auradon, you didn’t talk about having kids the first day you got together with someone, especially not if you were only sixteen. What, did Earl also already assume that they’d get married one day too? Basu wasn’t saying any of this was impossible, it just seemed a little too soon to be talking about their future like that. They had only just started dating after all.
Which was why he was more than happy to let the conversation drop there. Purring was a much better topic in his opinion. This was a lesson of sorts, and as Basu had a few good years of tutoring under his belt, he already felt more at home in this sort of setting than talking about his future with his new boyfriend. Granted this was a bit more personal and close than any of his tutoring had ever been, but it was nice.
Earl was a rather happy guy, Basu could easily gather that from him, it should be easy for him to purr. Perhaps the only reason he hadn’t been able to do so before was because he wasn’t aware that he had this ability in the first place. There was also a chance that hyena purring was very different than cat purring, which if that was the case, and they weren’t triggered by the same things, it might be harder for him to help Earl purr. Basu hadn’t looked into the mechanics of purring with other animals all that much. Perhaps he’d have to look into that sometime.
Of course it wasn’t as if he had as many resources here as he would have had back on Auradon to learn more about the subject, but he would do what he could. Even if that meant taking a different route to teaching Earl how to purr, Basu would make sure he helped the hyena-jackal, no matter what.
Turning his attention back to Earl as his boyfriend began to list off things that made him happy, Basu nodded along to each thing he said. Bones, playing with Nandra, him...wait. Basu blinked in surprise, eyes wide as he looked at Earl. A comfortable heat once again rose to his cheeks as Basu took in what he had said, looking down slightly in an attempt to stop the blushing that had started. ”I uh...I suppose if you think it would help, you could think of...me,” he confirmed softly, clearing his throat. They had just started dating and already Earl was all too capable of causing Basu to blush.
The leopon shifted slightly, risking a glance back at Earl, face still warm from his last few comments. He sat there for a few moments, hesitated, and then moved closer to him, nuzzling against the other boy as he let out another purr. ”Don’t think about it...well, you should think, but not about purring, let that happen on its own, just think about what makes you happy,” he ordered, purr rumbling in his chest. ”Think of the happiest picture you can imagine. The best scenario you can think of.” Basu still had no idea if this would work, or how to even teach someone to purr, as he had never had to do that before. Everyone that he knew that purred, had already known how. Basu was guessing entirely on what to do here and what might work. There was a good chance he was wrong.
Which, now that he thought about it, he should tell Earl. Basu didn’t want him expecting this to work when there was a good chance that it wouldn’t. ”...I should warn you, Earl, that this might not work. I’ve never actually taught someone how to purr, and I don’t know if it’s different for hyenas. But if this doesn’t work, we’ll find something else that does, I promise,” he told his boyfriend, not wanting to discourage Earl from the possibility of him being able to purr. Earl deserved the chance to purr and Basu was going to make sure he got it, even if it took some time.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
Was that a blush on Basu’s face? With the question in mind Earl managed to scoot ever closer to the leopon, eyes wide as he looked Basu over. Upon further inspection the hyena was able to confirm that his boyfriend was indeed blushing, and this made him laugh, a whooping noise that echoed through the room. The son of Ed wasn’t the smartest person out there, but he knew what a blush meant. It was a sign that somebody liked somebody else, he knew that much. So that meant Basu liked him - of course Basu liked him since they were boyfriends now, but the blush made the hyena-jackal quite happy. On impulse he reached out and poked the other boy’s cheek, still unable to keep back his laughter. ”Basu, you’re blushing! Ahahaha, you’re blushing! You’re cute,” he chuffed, leaning forward and nuzzling his head against Basu like a very friendly cat would.
It wasn’t long for the feline to blush once more. It was cute when he blushed, and it made Earl feel a sense of warmth rush over him. It was a nice feeling, something he enjoyed. Being happy, of course, was a lot better than the feeling of being worried over Basu because he had gained yet another concussion. Like earlier a bout of laughter came from the canine hybrid, yet they were softer and shorter in bursts, more airy than robust. ”You’re blushing again, Basu. Cute, cute, blushy Basu,” he mused, making a little tune out of it. This lead to him discovering another thought that made him happy - his boyfriend blushing. It was honestly adorable. Earl was beyond happy to have the Auradonian boy as not only his friend, but his boyfriend. Who knew somebody from the other side of the ocean would make an odd hyena boy so happy.
These feelings lead up to one thought. With a question on his tongue and curiosity in his eyes, Earl asked, ”Do I make you happy, Basu? Do you purr when you think of me?” He was eager to know the answer, yet a part of him could wait for the response. What if it was a negative answer? What would happen if Basu ended up admitting that he didn’t actually like the hyena boy? No, that wouldn’t happen. Earl was able to quickly pick himself up; there was no way his boyfriend wouldn’t like him. He wouldn’t be purring, either, if he had second thoughts about Earl.
A happy huff escaped the pirate when Basu nuzzled against him, purring once more. He couldn’t wait until he could purr. It would be all he would do. He’d show it off to everybody else, Batini, Shomari, Sanura, all of them. Then he’d teach them all the purr as well. Well, the lions of the pirate crew would be able to purr already so he wouldn’t have to show them how to purr.
Okay, happy thoughts. He had a lot of those. Think about what made him happy and not think about purring. That sounded a lot easier said than done, but Earl trusted Basu with all his heart; the leopon would never lead the jackyena astray. Just think of happy thoughts...happy thoughts… There was the time when he found his first bone as a little kid exploring the shore, stumbling upon what he had thought to be pale driftwood at first. There was the time when he had found an entire box of food from Auradon, there being enough to share with his hyena family. Then there was a few days ago when he met Basu at school, and of course, right now. The thought of being able to call Basu his boyfriend. The idea of being able to purr. They were all happy thoughts, made Earl feel calm and just joyful overall.
As he had these thoughts his eyes had closed. When he heard Basu speak up an eye peered open, glancing over at the leopon. ”It’ll work, don’t worry, aha! I’ll learn how to purr because you’re the best.” There was no way that he wouldn’t learn how to purr. It might take him a few hours or a couple of days, but he’d figure it out, and when he did it was going to be all because of Basu, there was no doubt about that in Earl’s mind.

Basu Matil Singh Son of Bagheera & Vitani
It was one thing to start blushing at one or two simple comments from his new boyfriend, but to be called out on the blushing by the hyena-jackal was another. Naturally, at Earl’s commentary on his blushing, Basu couldn’t help but blush even more than before. Quickly the heat rushed to his face once again, with him helpless to stop it despite his best efforts. ”I-I’m not blushing, it’s...it’s hot in here,” he stated stubbornly, looking away from Earl as he tried to stop the warming of his cheeks before it got any more out of control. Oh this was embarrassing, wasn’t it? He hadn’t thought that Earl might actually catch on to the blushing, and the fact that he had made Basu feel all the more embarrassed.
This hadn’t happened before either, the times he had blushed a little around his other crushes, he was either able to hide it better or the other person was too polite to say anything - probably well aware of the embarrassment it would bring to the son of Bagheera and Vitani - either way, this was the first time he had been called out for blushing and he wasn’t entirely sure how to take it. On one hand, it was Earl, so it wasn’t like Basu could be too prickly about it, however that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to prickle up just a little. Which did work to his advantage with ridding himself of that blush from before.
Huffing and chuffing the leopon boy leaned back, once again breaking apart from the cuddling, arms folded. ”Besides even if I was blushing - though I was most certainly not, it-that, it’s not like I was blushing because of anything you said, I was just...it was just....it’s hot in here, that’s it. I’m probably running a fever or something.” Because clearly running a fever was better than blushing.
The prickly cat boy sat there for a few more moments with his arms folded and a small scowl on his face, however it didn’t seem to last long, especially not after Earl’s next comment. One that truly made him pause and look back to his boyfriend. Of course Earl made him happy, and he’d already purred a few times thanks to the canine hybrid, but to be questioned on that was something he hadn’t expected. Earl really was full of surprises, and surprising questions. Ones Basu had no idea how to answer. No matter what though, it seemed as if Earl was full of unique things to say and questions to ask, ones Basu wouldn’t expect anyone else to bring up. Basu certainly wouldn’t have. Yet here he was, facing these comments and questions from Earl, who clearly expected an answer.
Letting his guard down from before, Basu put the prickles away, arms lowering down to his sides, chocolate brown eyes trailing across the ground. ”Of...of course you make me happy, Earl.” Embarrassed, flustered, and sometimes stressed out as well, but definitely happy. ”I wouldn’t be dating you if you didn’t make me happy, obviously,” he continued, cursing silently as he felt he cheeks once again grow warm. Four times in five minutes, good job Basu.
Glancing unsurely back over to Earl, Basu tilted his head to the side. ”Do...well I mean...do I make you happy too?” He asked, stuttering slightly. It only seemed fair to shoot the question back at Earl after he had to answer it, however that didn’t make this any easier. Honestly, after today it was safe to say that Basu had had an emotional workout, and a headache. He also had a headache. However he was willing to ignore that for now.
Slowly moving back to Earl now that the topic was back to purring, Basu looked over at him, smiling at the confidence Earl already had in him. Not even Basu was that sure of himself, it was hard not to feel warmth spread through him at Earl’s confidence in Basu. ”It might not happen today, or tomorrow. I doubt I can really take the credit for when you do purr, you’ll end up figuring it out by yourself at some point and you’ll be set,” Basu told him, smiling warmly down at the hyena-jackal.

Earl Fisi son of ed and kijana
Was it hot in here? Earl didn't think it was hot in here. Maybe a bit stuffy considering the door was usually closed, but other than that everything seemed relatively normal.
It wasn't long until the creeping claw of worry grabbed Earl. His eyes went wide and he started looking Basu over as if the leopon had just told him his skin was flaking off. What if he was hot because of his injuries? Was that bad? Did he need to get Tara? Maybe she was still around the ship. She had said something about wrestling sharks earlier, right? Earl was pretty sure she had said something along those lines. If it came down to it he would leave Basu for a few minutes to get the crocodile girl. He didn't want to leave Basu, but if he had to then he would have to.
Now he was really worried. Not only had Basu pulled away from the cuddles, he also admitted to possibly having a fever. Fever were bad. They were not good at all. A soft whine slipped from the hyena-jackal, concern written over his face. He had to get Tara now.
"I gotta get Tara!" Earl exclaimed, voicing his worried thoughts as he pulled himself up to his feet, stumbling a moment before gaining his balance. It was hard for him at times to pull himself up but he could do it. "Fevers aren't good, Basu. Aha," he chuffed nervously, eyes round, "did the fever make you blush?" Blushing was usually a good thing as far as the hyena knew. Could having a fever make somebody blush? The way Basu was talking made it seem like it very well could. What if blushing when having a fever meant something terrible? People could survive fevers, but what about a blushing fever? This was concerning, very concerning.
Earl was glad to know that he also made Basu happy, but right now that wasn't important. With his one track mind Earl was more concerned about his boyfriend's health rather than the purring and making one another happy. "You make me very happy, yeah, yeah," he replied absentmindedly. "But you make me happy when you're okay. I can't purr if you have a fever because that makes me sad," the canine hybrid whined, worry for the leopon coming through in his voice. "We need to get you to Tara or Yzma. They'll fix you, okay? Ahaha, we'll get somebody to fix you." So there Earl stood, not wanting to leave the son of Bagheera and Vitani, but also wanting to desperately make sure his boyfriend was okay and would survive. He had been through so much as of late and if something happened while Basu was with Earl the hyena wouldn't know how to handle it.
