It hadn’t taken Lucas very long to decide that he would take his chances with getting through the city before the sun rose. He saw that option as the one that would provide him a little more security, especially because it meant he wouldn’t be stuck in one place for the entire day. He tugged down on his shirt sleeves as he walked down the city streets, glancing up at the horizon every once in a while. The decision was risky – he surely knew that – but he also figured the sun wouldn’t burn him too badly in the morning hours. He remembered spending time outside during his childhood, but he also remembered his parents stressing the importance of protecting his skin from the sun. He stopped walking for a moment as he remembered the last time he had seen them, but he quickly shook his head. No, he couldn’t feel bad because they had decided to split up (for the most part) because it was less risky for them all. Well, it seemed less risky until he saw someone else on the street.
As much as Cassie wanted to break protocol – oh, she really wanted to – she didn’t want to get in over her head without any sort of backup. While she had been doing this for a while, she was still well aware that any vampire she faced would have every sort of physical advantage. The female let out a sigh before pulling out her hair tie and redoing her ponytail so that she wouldn’t have strands of hair falling in her face.
(Bleh, I hate my post for Cass.)

(Ah i think my hw is all done ;-; )
The pale woman picked a spot on the dusty floor of the building and sat down quietly. She tried to plan for the next evening... She'd go out as soon as the sun was too low to shine amongst the tall shadows of the buildings, and she'd find someone on their way home, get something to drink, and be on her way once the sun was completely gone. She considered trying to sleep to pass the time, but she wasn't sure she wanted to risk it. Perhaps if she grew too tired, she could go up to another floor and sleep so she wasn't just laying around for anyone to find. She'd hear them coming and have some time to wake up. Good... It wasn't much but it was a small comfort to have a plan.
--
Five more minutes... no... three. He'd wait three more minutes. Blair looked back at his phone briefly, only growing more worried that the others hadn't messaged him back yet. Should he message them again? In another minute. He'd wait out the last two minutes after, and go looking for them. He repeatedly switched from watching the streets around him to checking the time on his phone. Finally, the minute changed and he sent out another message.
Where are you?
The sound of feet on the sidewalk made him lift his head quickly. He looked in the direction he'd heard the sound, but he couldn't actually catch a figure against the shadows. Maybe he was too worried to focus?

Just keep calm, Lucas told himself as his vision focused on the person standing on the street. Act like you’re not wanted dead because of what you are. He pushed a hand through his hair before tugging on his sleeves nervously, hoping that the action would calm him. He glanced down the street at the figure before looking up at the horizon again. I’ll be fine, he reassured himself despite not having anything he could use to defend himself. He still knew how to defend himself, though he wasn’t proud to admit how he had learned to do so. His hand went to his side pocket as if he had something in it, but he soon remembered that he didn’t. He had managed to spend the last bit of cash he had on a new pair of shoes without causing any trouble, though it probably helped that he had been in a small down where people didn’t always want to follow the rules.
I don’t even know what to do with Cass anymore RIP

(If you want, she can come across the remains of Blair's team ;p I've got my pale girl at a standstill for a bit too )
Blair finally was able to make out the figure on the street ahead and his posture changed very quickly. The stranger didn't look like any of his team, and the fact that he was out so late while they were missing made him immediately suspicious. "Who's there?" He demanded. His hand hovered near his weapon, ready to draw if the stranger started to approach.

(Maybe. Right now, I’m lacking motivation to do a reply for her. Maybe I’ll get one up for her later tonight, but I’ll have to see how I’m feeling.)
Lucas stopped as Blair spoke, not expecting the question to be so harsh. A question like that usually wasn’t a good sign and it usually meant trouble would follow, but he wasn’t going to let his facial expression betray that. “Huh,” he said, playing off the idea that he hadn’t heard Blair that well. It sometimes worked, and he was hoping that this would be one of those times. He glanced down at Blair’s hand, taking note that his hand was hovering above something.

"I said, 'who's there'." Blair repeated a little louder, watching the stranger closely. He couldn't afford to gamble whether they were human or not. If he was wrong, he'd offer an apology and to walk them home, then go looking for his group. If not... he might have found what happened to the others. He remained very still, rooted in place and ready to fight.

Hearing the question repeated wasn't a reassuring thing for Lucas to hear, but his facial expression didn't give that away. What worried him more, however, was how he was going to respond to the question without sounding suspicious. "Well, you can see that I'm here," he said slowly. It wasn't the best answer to give, but he didn't have a better one to give. "Look, I have to get home. I have work in a few hours, and I'd like to get home and try get a few hours of sleep before I need to be in there." Hopefully the addition to the answer convinced Blair that Lucas wasn't a threat.

"That doesn't answer the question." Blair stated, narrowing his eyes a bit. "People are missing tonight, and I need answers. Name and address." He demanded. His foot shifted slightly, less of a defensive pose and more of an offensive one.

People were missing? Oh s---, that wasn't good for him. It was no wonder Blair had asked the question he had. If Lucas hesitated or his lie wasn't solid, well, he didn't want to see what Blair would do to him. "Daniel Grey. I live a couple streets over, or, at least I think I do. This damn city keeps turning me around." He hadn't passed any residential areas yet, so he had no idea about what he could use as an address. What he had said probably wouldn't satisfy Blair, but it couldn't hurt to try - right?

"A couple streets over doesn't give me an address." Blair replied, already checking his information on his phone. There were two Daniel Grey's in the city, though they were spelled differently. He could cross reference the address with either name and he'd have his answer. "Address."

Lucas had been about to give Blair an address that he hoped worked, but he shut his mouth as soon as he saw the other male pull out his phone. That couldn't be good news for Lucas. "And you're not getting one," he finally said. Without hesitating, he took off running, though it wasn't quite at full speed because his right knee was still healing from a previous injury, hoping to much as much distance between him and Blair as he could.

Blair stayed in place, putting what he could into a description of the vampire before he put out a mass text to every hunter in his contacts, with the added information that his team wasn't responding. He wouldn't be quick enough to get a photo, but he was pretty good at working with what he had. He needed to go look for his team now. The rest of the hunters in the city would be on watch for anyone who resembled the vampire's description. He began walking quickly in the direction his team should be arriving from. If they were still moving, he'd find them faster this way. He could only hope something had their attention and that was why they weren't answering him.

After a few minutes of running, Lucas stopped and reached to grab his knee. It was beginning to throb after the short run, and he didn't want to risk further injuring it. He rested a hand against a wall and let out a few breaths before looking up at the horizon. It would be dawn soon, and he was in the middle of the city and likely wanted by the vampire hunter he had just spoken to.

The sound of heavy footfalls outside drew her focus again, and the pale woman opened her eyes. She hadn't fallen asleep, but she'd become very absorbed in planning various ways of leaving the city. Someone was fleeing, though the footfalls stopped near the building. Well, a human meant an early snack and a vampire meant an extra set of hands in a fight. Swiftly, she stood and moved to the window boards she'd forced loose earlier. She pushed lightly with her hand to keep the movement from being noticeable and she peered out. The sun would be up in a matter of minutes. And sure as rain, she could smell the scent of another vampire. "In here." She said softly.

(Agh, sorry this has taken me so long.)
Lucas slowly stood straight as he heard the female voice. His first response was to panic and run, but he quickly realized that the woman was a vampire. He let out a quiet sigh of relief as his eyes darted around to find a way in to the abandoned building. He spotted the window boards she had loosened and climbed in, momentarily forgetting about his knee because he was more focused on his safety. Once safely inside, he sat against the wall, returned his attention to his knee, and said, “Thanks.”
Cassie swore under her breath as she felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket. She hated being interrupted while on patrol, but she had to check her phone just in case the message had any relation to her job. Sure enough, the text she had received was related to it. She gently bit her lip as she read over it, and she became somewhat upset once she finished. She had been out for the majority of the night and she hadn’t seen a vampire that matched the description. Surely his only reason for being out was to cause trouble, and she wanted to stop him before he hurt a human.

(It's fine. My finals will last the next three months so time might be tight for me.)
Once the stranger was sat down and settled, the pale woman looked over him a moment longer before speaking. "You were running from a human?" She asked. More that she checked it. Even with the humans out for their heads, some vampires still competed amongst themselves for safe places to hide, hunting grounds, and even turned over their own kind as a bribe for their own safety. Another vampire on his trail would defiantly detect them hiding here, and they wouldn't stay secret for long. Hopefully a human pursuer would run by.
Since the message would lead other hunters to actively search for the vampire, Blair focused all his attention on following his team's path and locating them. He spent several minutes walking until he found something troubling. A cellphone, cracked from a fall. It still held battery, and when he turned it on, he found his messages popping up as alerts on the screen. He didn't see any sign of them in the surrounding area. He hesitated, unsure if he wanted to pursue. But there was still a chance of survival? If he was quick, he might be able to find them and keep them alive until help arrived. He couldn't turn away. He picked his own phone out of his pocket and called the other phone directly, hoping his other teammate still had their phone on them.

(That’s fine ^^)
Lucas nodded once as he stretched out his right leg while sitting before pulling down on his shirt sleeves. “He had to have been a hunter or something. He was asking too many questions, and he wanted the answers to be exact. I couldn’t lie well enough to save my [butt].” That was all he was willing to say to her for now. He didn’t know who this woman was, and he was generally suspicious of other vampires because he didn’t know what their motives were. The only exception to that might be his family, but he hadn’t seen them since the law was passed, so he wasn’t even sure they’d be the same as they were a year ago.
Cassie slid her phone back into her pocket as she looked up at the horizon. It was nearly dawn, so it was unlikely she would find the vampire in question outside now. Still, it was unlikely he had left the city if his last known location was accurate. He wouldn’t be able to make it across the city before dawn even if he was running at top speed.

The woman considered his words. She listened a few minutes before shaking her head. "I don't hear anyone following you. You should be safe to stay here until nightfall." She said simply. She sat down quietly for a moment before her eyes went to the stranger. "So what's your name?" She asked. She almost referred to him as kid, but she caught herself before she said it. She wasn't sure of his true age since most forms of vampirism prevented aging.
(X3 We know what Blair's up to. I'll pick up with him later.)

After taking a moment to determine if she was telling the truth about not being followed, he nodded once. He let out a sigh of relief as she concluded that he would be safe until nightfall before pulling his legs close to his chest. “Lucas,” he answered, figuring it would be better to give her a name that was different from the one he had given Blair. “And yours is …?” He asked, not really caring if she lied to him. He just wanted to have a name for the vampire who had helped him.
(And I don’t think I’m gonna do anything with Cass until there’s an opportunity for her to interact with someone ^^)

"Valk, usually." The woman replied. She tended to rotate through a list of aliases, though Valk was the name she gave to most vampires. It looked like they might be here for a while together, so might as well not make enemies with him too early. "So what brings you to the big city?" She asked, unable to hide the obvious sarcasm in her voice. Her guess was he was passing through too, though there still might be other reasons.

Lucas almost questioned her use of the word usually, but he bit his tongue so he wouldn't say something to anger her. The last thing he wanted to do was make enemies with a vampire who had offered him a place to stay during the day. At the question, he shrugged, figuring she knew that the answer was obvious - that he was just passing through and had gotten stuck in the city. "Because my luck sucks," he finally said as he pushed a hand through his hair.

(Sorry, I've just not been feeling well. Do you want to cut to nightfall?)
Valk remained relaxed with her back against the crumbling wall. She looked back at it briefly, brushing a few bits of debris out of her hair before crossing her arms. She didn't seem to care much for digging deeper on who he'd been running from or who he was. Instead, she chose to keep her ears pricked for the sound of anyone approaching. So far it all seemed good. People passing by, no one really stopping by their building. Well, at least they had a while to rest.
