[ hey sorry, I was busy ] [UPDATE] Kiyoshi watched the guards, a frown on his face. He'd miscalculated, and now the entire mission could be in peril. He glanced at his comrades, watching their expressions. He looked at Ezio and mouthed, 'Sorry.' He narrowed his eyes, looking for a way around this situation. However, at the appearance of Donovan's Mistress, the pillar's eyes widened. This wasn't a miscalculation, the woman had to know something. Kiyoshi glanced over at where Silas and Artemesia were, clenching his jaw. He had an idea, but he doubted the rest of the team would be okay with it. He sighed.

When Artemesia appeared beside him, Silas flinched. He had instinctively reached for his sword, but tensed, realizing in the next moment that it was only her, just coming to the meeting spot as they'd all been told to do. She just happened to teleport here. Sure, Silas had seen her use her ability plenty of times before, but it never ceased to startle him. There was just something about someone appearing next to him that bothered the man, and he didn't think he'd ever get used to it. Still, despite the fact that she had nearly given him a heart attack, he was glad she was alright. Her curse suggested, though, that something had gone enough wrong that they needed to get out of there, and fast. Of course, that was nothing he hadn't already been thinking, but it was confirmation, at the very least.
"What's happened?" he asked, dropping his hand from the hilt of the blade and forcing himself to breathe. He knew that Artemesia wouldn't have cursed like that if something hadn't gone very suddenly south. He was waiting, now, expecting that in any moment the alarm would be raised and they would have to get out of there.
He didn't like that the guards had been expecting them. How had they known? Something had to have been leaked, maybe someone had given them up? Surely not anyone within the group, but they were the only ones who knew of the plan. It couldn't have been one of them, but it had to be. It was the logical explanation, though Silas didn't want to believe that.

At any other time, Silas's instinctive reaction may have given Artemesia reason to smile - she rather liked always having the element of surprise, and it wasn't the first time (and nor would it be the last) that she unintentionally startled her friends. "She knew we were coming - she must have," she replied, voice barely above a soft murmur. She paused for a moment, holding her breath as she tried to take in the sounds of the manor - or more precisely, any sounds that might indicate the trouble that could be coming their way. "And I think I messed up." Artemesia didn't elaborate, nor apologise; the regret and irritation were quite clear in her tone. "We won't have much time, maybe none at all." Was it better to try and get to Donovan, in the very least, or did they back out now, before it could be too late? She quirked an eyebrow towards the others, her dark eyes holding the silent question of what they should do next. This couldn't be a coincidence. It wasn't that something had gone wrong, but someone.

Kiyoshi glanced over at Silas and Artemesia, "I can cause a distraction if need be." He said, "I may be able to lead the guards on a chase away from the Lady." He looked at each of them, waiting for a response.

"Damn." That was all Silas said for a moment; he didn't ask what she'd done because it didn't matter. She would have said what had happened if it had mattered; all they needed to know was that something had gone wrong enough for it all to crumble. He stared off down the hall, not looking at them, brown eyes squinting in the dark. He sighed quietly. He wanted to speak, fill the silence, but there was little he could say that would help their situation; he was not here for his cunning or sharp wit. He was not the planner here. The man held up his hands innocently, looking between the others, unable to help a small scowl. "You'd both be better at planning that than I would."
A pause from him as he considered. They would have to make snap second decisions. "I doubt we'll be able to pull off anything we had wanted to." He stared helplessly down the hall. He didn't like feeling helpless, but he didn't think there was a man in the world who did. "That being said, I would suggest we make a graceful exit and come back at a later date; as late as we dare. They knew we were coming, somehow, so we cannot be predictable." Another pause. "I know that gives them time to prepare, but if we do the opposite of what they expect, we can regain our element of surprise." Silas shrugged, because he didn't know how to explain what he meant.

вlue вlood ℜust ℜed ℜose Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow, surprised by Silas' comment. The man usually wanted to attack, and it was shocking that he was taking a careful approach to this situation. Kiy rubbed his temple, "Even if we draw back, how can we get out of here without being noticed? The guards are probably spread out through the entire manor, on red alert." The young man closed his eyes, and took a deep breath to help him think. "The boss can use an illusion to get himself out if here, and Artemesia, you can just teleport. That leaves Silas and I." He glanced around, "If I were to use my energy to distract the guards, would you be able to help the real me out of here?" He turned his attention to Silas, raising an eyebrow.

Silas knew his suggestion was not his normal approach, but his normal approach was too risky for a mission like this. Sword skill and strength only got a man so far when fighting so many; he would tire out, they wouldn't complete the purpose of the mission. On top of it all, he was still mortal; sometimes it felt as if the others had forgotten.
At least Kiy's suggestion was not for him to sneak out; it was hard enough without the guards on alert, it would be harder now. Had they given the alarm yet? Wouldn't they hear it? "Of course," he said. "You know me."
The large man paced, itching to get moving. It wasn't all about fighting, just staying moving. He couldn't stand waiting around for something to happen; he wanted to be what was happening. "But perhaps it would be better for them to not have the confirmation that we were here?" He was perfectly ready to fight if the situation demanded, but often times it wasn't needed.

Indeed, even Silas could not fight his way out of here, especially with the unusually heavy guarding for the time of day. Yes, he was good - far better than just good, actually - but at the end of the day, their missions were set up and organised to give them their best chances. Artemesia herself would be of little use if it came down to a simple fight. Her methods were not exactly honourable, but they got the job done. She won by never giving her opponent the chance to fight back, so handing her a sword and putting her in outright combat would not go well. A silent kill with a knife at a throat, or from a distance with a bow or throwing knives was more her style.
"If the Callahans aren't where we expect to be, I'll bet the guards aren't either," Artemesia pointed out. "If they even suspect danger, any of the obvious exits will be covered. The important thing might just be to get out safely, even if not secretly. I think I'm with Kiy - we should take control of the situation. I can stay hidden on the roofs, or hidden outside, and if anything goes really wrong, I'm only a blink away. I know I'm not much use if it really comes down to fighting our way out, but... well, the more on our side the better."

Kiyoshi nodded in agreement. "Alright, Artemesia, get out of the manor, but try and stay within earshot. Silas, as soon as I start the distraction, you need to get us both out of here." He took a deep breath, "Ready?"

He sighed quietly, but nodded to the others. They had their arguments; good ones at that. That was what Silas got when he tried any of the planning business. It wasn't that he was stupid (although sometimes he would joke that was part of it). No, he just didn't really think ahead, and when he did, he tended to only consider one or two options when there were plenty of possibilities. He shifted on his feet, nodding along with Artemesia, knowing she'd already won. He wasn't here to debate strategy, he was here to be the tough guy, or the wrecking ball.
"Always ready," he said, gesturing for the other man to go. "Do your thing." And by thing, he meant... well, whatever is was. It certainly was a good distraction, but Silas didn't have a word for what to call it. He wasn't quite sure of how the next minute or two would play out; all he knew was to cover Kiy's back if they were noticed, and follow him out.

Kiyoshi took a deep breath, and closed his eyes. He pictured an area in the center of the manor, and soon his body fell limp. Meanwhile, Kiy's "image" appeared in the center of the manor, "Hey, over here! Come on!!" He yelled, and soon guards swarmed to him.

It never ceased to bug Silas, the way Kiy did his... thing like that. He dropped limp, as if he'd been struck dead by an unseen blow to the head. It wasn't normal, and truthfully their gifts all irked him slightly, but he would say nothing of it. No need for dramatics.
The man could only imagine what the image was doing farther in the manor, but it did't matter. All he knew is that it would not hold their attention long, once they realized it was meant to be a diversion, or that they could not harm him in the same way. Nodding farewell to Artemesia, Silas bent down and scooped up the unmoving Kiy. He carried him over his right shoulder and drew his sword with his left. Sure, to hold him like that was a tad undignified, but it worked, and it would leave his hand free to use his sword. Hopefully, though, Silas would not have to carry him long.
He set off to find the nearest balcony. If his memory served, there was one a little ways down the long, dark hall; it wouldn't be too difficult to climb down, and Silas was content to break a window if it meant a quicker escape. Sure, the noise might attract attention, but by the time it was noticed, they'd be gone. Hopefully, that was how the plan was meant to go, anyway.

With a sort of mock salute to the others, Artemesia disappeared as suddenly as she had appeared. A heartbeat later, she was crouched on the rooftops, enough used to danger that to peer over the edge to check when Silas and Kiyoshi would hopefully emerge, from wherever necessary, to the outside of the manor. If they encountered any major trouble along the way, the guards would make enough noisy chaos that she would still be able to hear from up here. If she was - as she hoped - not needed, she was only a second away from being able to teleport to the ground again to regroup.

Kiyoshi ducked under a sword that was slashed at him, "Missed me!" He laughed. The young man continued to dodge and mock the guards. However, as time went on he slowed down and collapsed. Meanwhile, real Kiyoshi's eyes snapped open and he groaned, "Silas, where are we? Are we almost out? I couldn't hold on that long, I haven't used my power in a while."

Silas reached the balcony and stopped before the window, considering his options quickly. He thought he could heard the sounds of the guards far below, and he would have to hurry. There was a curse from a guard, it sounded like, when he missed. Silas was about to break the glass when he noticed the latch, his reflection on the glass looking back at him sheepishly. At least nobody could judge him for nearly missing the easy way out.
The man opened the window (no breaking the glass and risking cuts necessary) and stepped out onto the tiny balcony (if it could even be called that.) He sheathed his sword, trying to think about how he was going to get him over the fence.
He was saved that difficulty, though, when Kiyoshi spoke to him, and Silas set him back down, assuming that he could walk. He could hear the sound of the guards now; there were two pairs of footsteps on the stairs this way. "It was better than nothing," he muttered, turning towards the open window, his back to the other man. The guards would only be a moment. "I'm hoping you can climb down on your own?"

Silas only grunted in response, sliding the long sword at his side out of its sheath. It glittered in the half light, just polished to its usual sheen. The man shifted his feet, one slightly before the other, to avoid getting knocked over (not that anyone could really knock him over if they wanted to). He was uncertain about how safe the ground was, but he would be with Kiy in just a few moments.
The guards reached them then, swords of their own drawn. The first tried to slice upward across his chest, but Silas caught his wrist, bent it back far enough that he dropped the sword, and kicked it to the side. He had kneed the first guard in the chest, knocking him back into the second before the other man could have come to his friend's rescue. They both stumbled, and Silas, for all his hate of hesitation, struck the sword straight through the both of them, right in the chest. They fell over, the hilt of sword sticking up. Silas put his foot beside the sword, resting it on the man's chest to pull the rapier out.
He left the guards on the floor of the balcony with their wide eyes and red stained tunics, one still with sword in hand and the other with his broken wrist. Silas turned back to the railing, not having even broken a sweat. Such was his skill.

As soon as Kiyoshi hit the ground however, he was surrounded by guards. He had no chance to fight or yell for help, the guards shoved him to the ground and tied his wrists. They started dragging him off. Kiyoshi squirmed and struggled, but he wasn't anything like Silas, and his attempts to fight failed miserably.
