Kali watched the assumed Mermaid king from under her lean-to, having woken up just before dawn and watched everyone start to bustle around. When he demanded to know where Thessa was she glanced towards the shore that the mermaid had gone into the night before after their argument. It seemed she had been the last to see her. With a sigh she stood up and leaned against a tree with her arms crossed. "She's not here," Kali called matter-o-factly. "She left last night and went into the sea." Her gaze was dull and expressionless as she looked at the king, unimpressed.

Henry had just awoken from a rather pleasant night’s sleep and was helping to sort through supplies when he heard a strange voice, turning to see two mermaids coming out of the water. One looked about his own age and the other was demanding to know where Thessa was, and he carried himself regally.
“Oh, for God’s sake,” he muttered to himself under his breath “What fresh Hell is this?”
24 hours. That was all he asked. Just a day without incident. The crew were on a beach on a sunny island and yet they still couldn’t relax for even a day. He was surprised they’d even gotten this far.
As the crew trained weapons on the two, Henry placed his hand on the hilt of his sword. He wanted to be ready just in case anything did happen and he needed to get involved or something like that.
He listened as Kali explained the situation, and Henry nodded.
“Yeah, not that the threats don’t endear you to us but she’s right, she’s gone.” Hal replied

(I swear these two XD So done with everyone's shiz)
The king turned his gaze towards the pirates that had spoken. He narrowed his eyes and turned to look at the rest of them. Frowning, he turned on his heel and started back towards the sea. The young boy that had come with them looked between his king and the crew of the Tempest a confused look on his face. "But, what about Thessa...? She made us promise to help them," he asked weakly taking a step in the direction of the ocean. "I made no such promise to them," the King said darkly. The sea parted in a large arch as he stepped towards it. "She is not here, then we will not be either. Come," he ordered never turning his head. Fletcher stepped up and glared at the King. "We were promised healers," he projected his voice dripping with anger. He didn't want to suffer from a blind eye for the rest of his life, he didn't want any more crew members to be lost, and he definitely didn't want Santiago to suffer anymore. They were stranded. They needed the help at the moment. "I did not permit you to speak!" The merking roared spinning around to glare at the human. The ocean exploded upward, the water towering over them as the king stood his ground furious that someone dared speak out of turn. The water continued to tower upward, never losing its shape. Faintly, some more people could be seen hiding below the water. All dressed in armor and with spears in their hands. It was an army. "Triton that's enough!" Thessa came from the jungle, her hair pulled back in a thick braid. She looked just as furious as the king did. Her hands were balled into fists as she passed the armed crew, the Commodore who stared at her in bewilderment, and even the boy who smiled brightly at her but knew to back away and bow his head. She stormed right up to the king and glared up at him. "You gave your word and I am here," she growled as she grabbed his trident and wrenched it away from him. Once it was in her hand and out of his, the mermaid stood taller and looked at the king expectantly. With a sigh, Triton let the water crash down to its rightful place before continuing its easy push and pull rhythm. "Thank you. Now hold true to your promise," she commanded before turning and waking away from him, the trident still in her hand. Triton did as he was told, and soon enough more peaceful looking people poked their heads up from the water.

Kali smirked when she watched Thessa basically rip the king a new one. As she walked away the pirate spoke up. "Who taught you how to make a dramatic entrance?" She mused, not knowing the mermaid had that kind of willpower to just take a trident from her king and give him commands. "Didn't know you had it in you your Highness." She pushed herself off from the tree and turned to go and find something to eat, having no interest in the merpeople coming to heal the others.

Santiago had fallen asleep rather quickly that night, perhaps because he was beyond exhausted from exerting himself that day prior and reopened his wounds, or perhaps it was because he had a good excuse to snuggle up to Fletcher all night long. As much as he hated to admit it, he slept much better with a certain someone at his side, and even though most nights he could manage an hour or two of sleep those couple of hours felt so much more restful when he was with the Commodore. Sometimes he was able to sleep longer than that, too, like right now.
Santiago had only woken up once or twice during the night, on from a night terror and the other because a leaf had fallen on his face and he'd nearly jumped out of his skin, and barely stirred when Fletcher had gotten up to start tending to things. Usually he would have been up and about by now, but right now the Egyptian fell back asleep, still just a little bit pale as he shifted every now and then.
He only rose when he heard a thunderous voice demanding someone... was it Thessa? He opened his eyes slowly, wincing at the headache that greeted him, hand falling onto the scabbing and swollen wound on his side as he hissed in pain. He looked around, eyes landing on the King, frowning immediately because this wasn't someone he actually recognized. He stayed still, though, content with Kali and Henry dealing with him.
That is, until the Commodore decided to smart off to a king. Without thinking he puled himself up, looking up at the waves with a wide eyed fear, because this was the exact reason why he didn't like dealing with merpeople, or any magical creature to begin with. He couldn't move for a few moments, before Thessa made an entrance and snatched the mans trident. The moment that Santiago knew it was safe he walked froward, practically leaping, grasping Fletcher by the arm and tugging him back. "What is wrong with you?" He murmured, voice shaky, staring at the merpeople with apprehensions as he leaned heavily against his man. He pushed Fletchers back in hopes he'd incline his back, not wanting to anger the stranger with the trident anymore.

"Queen?" Kali echoed curiously. "I thought you were a princess? Are you married to that... Triton? Or are you speaking of your future?" Her English wasn't perfect so she wasn't sure if she was mishearing or misunderstanding something. But she didn't want to seem weak or stupid because of it. "I still don't understand you or you motives. I thought you wanted to stop us and kill us? But you are making your people help us? What are you playing?" She wasn't accusatory or anything, just curious.

(Yaaaay and also Fletcher OMG. )
Santiago was completely shocked that Fletcher had actually talked back, that he was glaring back at a King who could very well kill them with a snap of his finger, which was a reason why he'd dragged the other away. "It doesn't matter if he went back on his word, he's a merperson... some kind of king by the looks of it. Do you really want someone who has control over the sea angry at us? " He retorted, face contorting just a little in annoyance and pain, now leaning fully on Fletcher now. He knew that the man wanted to have his voice heard, that it bothered him that this man went back on his word, and his features softened a little at that. He was about to say something, too, before stopping when the boy came up to them. Without thinking he shuffled a little, placing himself behind Fletcher, even though he was trying to make it look like he'd only turned to look at the boy. "Who are you, if I may ask?" He asked, frowning for a moment, before his attention ws placed on the little blue creature on his shoulder. "What is the creature called, as well?" He asked, voice brightening becuase Mr. Santiago would never squeal at something cute, despite his overall discomfort at being around so many creatures who held magical powers at once.

"Married? Oh no, I'd rather marry seaweed. It's probably smarter anyway," she said making a disgusted face. "He's my... cousin? That's the word you humans use right? Triton is my Uncle's son. We simply rule together as King and Queen. Have for many many years now. He controls the sea while I control the air," she explained looking over her shoulder at the angry merking. She chuckled at the sight of him unsure what to do without his weapon as he faced down humans. "As for my motives, I intend only to help and advice. While I'd rather this journey not be made, I will do nothing to harm you. As I said before, you are under my protection," she said with a sweet smile.
(Fletcher doesn't care. He'll go down fighting for his dude) The boy looked down sheepishly. "Right. I'm not used to doing this yet," he muttered to himself before giving them a big grin. "I am Thessa's brother, Prince Chantara Andromeda," he introduced himself. his words were uneasy and unsure. Like he still wasn't used to introducing himself as a prince. Petting the blue creature on his shoulder he looked a little more comfortable. "This little guy is Noctifer," he introduced his pet before grabbing him and holding the creature out to the Egyptian in the palm of his hands. It looked up at the two men with the biggest gold eyes. Strangely enough, Noctifer looked very much like a tiny sea dragon.
(I should mention that Thessa is black, Chantara is Asian, and Triton is white)

(Yessss! That might be fun. After all Henry has been being awfully nice lately it might be nice to show off his pirate side. Tbh I say they’re rivals for the baby position but Chi and Hal will probably end up being like best friends or something
Will do! I’ll rack my brains and let you know if I think of anything)

The next few moments were a bit of a whirlwind as Commodore Fletcher stand up to Triton and he seemed to be about to attack the group of pirates until Thessa stepped in and sorted out the situation. Hal had to say that he had really thought that was going okay until Fletcher stepped in, though he did think it was brave of him to stand up to the merman.
But with all the chaos over the boy returned to sorting through supplies until he saw the boy from before talking with Santiago, with the Commodore there as well. Well, if they had a new member of the team it made sense for Hal to go and introduce himself. Besides, it would be nice for Henry to be able to talk to someone his own age. Well, someone who at least looked like he was his age.
So he approached the group a moment later and as he approached Santiago was asking him what his name was. Henry listened to him introduce himself and his pet before offering a smile.
“Nice to meet you,” the young man said “I’m Henry Reynolds.”
Since this Chantara had given his full name, Henry thought he might as well do the same. He generally only ever introduced himself as Henry, not caring for formalities. Well, there were other reasons he didn’t want people knowing his first name as well, but at this point they didn’t matter anymore.

Santiago nodded a little at the introduction, wondering why the boy wasn't used to introducing himself, prince or not. He said nothing of it, instead he took a tiny breath, introducing himself as well. "It is... nice to meet you. My name is Jordie Santiago," He responded, his usual smirk and attitude gone, clearly trying his best to behave because honestly he didn't want to have to deal with a bunch of angry merpeople along with heading to their already probable deaths. He clutched onto Fletchers arm just a little harder when the tiny creature was lifted to them, leaning forward despite the radiating pain from his side, ignoring the sweat that had broken out already as he study the tiny sea-dragon. "He's adorable. Is he friendly, or wary of strangers?" He asked, moving to lift his hand, but pausing because as much as he wanted to pat Noctifer on the head he didn't want to be bitten by the little thing. His eyes slid over to Henry, arching a brow, before his attention went back to the little one infront of him.

"A lot of kingdoms around here make you marry for the thrown." She frowned, when she had been interrogating Thessa the mermaid had seemed to wish nothing but violence and harm upon the ship and its crew. She shook her head. "I don't get you." She glanced at the mermaid. "Men are easy to understand. Usually they want one of 3 things. But you..... What do you get out of helping us? You want some of the gold? Power? Love? That's what they all want." She indicated the crew behind them still dealing with Triton.

Chantara turned to look at Henry and smiled. He bowed his head as he greeted him. "Nice to meet you," he smiled then turned to Santiago as the sea-dragon jumped from his hands to jump into Santiago's. Noctifer stared up at them with wide eyes. "Noctifer is very friendly. He's only a baby so he doesn't know to be aggressive yet," he explained watching his pet get comfortable with Santiago. Fletcher looked between the dragon, the merprince, and the pirates. He didn't know what to think of this situation yet. It was clear that Santiago was nervous around these people and acted better than he did with him. It was curious. "Jackson Fletcher," he introduced himself to the prince. He stared at the baby creature as it climbed into his lover's hand.
Thessa just laughed. "I have no need for gold nor do my people. I don't need any more power than I already have, I hardly want the position of Queen anyway. And love?" She thought about it, her smile faltering. "While it is appreciated I don't see it happening towards me. I'm happy for them though," she said with a shrug. Thessa smiled as they looked over the crew. "No, I just want the wars to stop. Perhaps if I can help you humans come to an agreement then there will be peace in our waters. I'm sick of seeing blood filling our ocean," she murmured sadly.

(Isssss someone a little jealous?)
Santiago brightened considerably as the tiny sea dragon jumped into his own hands. This time he might have let out a delighted noise, before catching himself, not wanting to look like an utter child when there were so many others around. "Hm. Good to know he's not aggressive, yet." He commented wryly, running a hand down the little ones head and over his spine just like he would a cat. He glanced over at Fletcher, surprised that he had used his first name, since he'd only learned that it was Jackson only a few days ago. "If you don't mind me asking... how did you know where we were?" He asked, voice soft and careful, trying his best not to scare the dragon while being as polite as possible to the merperson. He noticed that Fletcher was staring at the tiny creature that was climbing around on his hand and he lifted it to Fletcher, asking if he wanted to hold it as well.

Kali just laughed. "Helping a couple Pirate won't stop any battles." She snorted, amused at how much Thessa didn't know about the humans. "If anything it will cause more bloodshed as everyone will fight over the gold and attract more pirates and countries to fight over it once we have it." She rolled her eyes. "Besides, none of us besides that Commodor are aligned with any country or government so we only speak for ourselves and can't persuade anyone else due to us all being criminials." She stopped walking and turned to face Thessa, stepping up to her and in her personal space. "The only way for you to even think of ending any wars would be if you never let us reach El Dorade..... and the only way that would be to kill us all now." She put a hand over Thessa's that was holding the trident and guided it so the tip of the weapon was pressed against the Pirate's chest. "But I don't think you are capable of that..... are you?"

Fletcher kind of backed away from the creature for a second before lifting a finger to touch its head. "Thessa sent a message to our cousin," He said turning to look at the king. "He was hesitant about coming, but both my sister and I managed to convince him," He explained. "She said that the crew of the ship she had boarded suffered heavy losses and they many of the crew were injured. She asked for our help. Speaking of which," Chantara gestured to Santiago's wound. "I'm studying to be a healer and Thessa told me to come straight to you," she said with a sheepish smile. "If that's ok?"
Thessa's smile fully dropped as Kali explained the situation. It was coming to light that she didn't know as much as she thought. Which was little to begin with. She didn't understand how they're countries worked. Or their alignments. She knew that not all humans were aligned together, hence the wars. But she didn't know that humans were so divided. As Kali touched her hand, her face felt hot and she looked at the woman. As Kali tipped the trident towards her heart, Thessa hesitated. Was she truly capable of killing this crew of humans? She found them to be so interesting. "No," she whispered as she snatched the trident away from her. She looked away and took a step back. "I don't kill without probable cause. Triton, however, despises humans. He will not hesitate to kill or leave you on this island to die."

Kali sighed and stepped away, disappointing. "You're too soft," She shrugged and turned to keep walking. "You have no discipline. If you have a goal you truly believe in then you must go with it no matter what gets in your way. Do you even know how to wield that weapon you hold in your hands?" She glanced over her shoulder at the Trident Thessa was holding. "If you want to be apart of this world then you need to not be afraid to take what you want. No one is going to give it to you for free. And since you don't know the system well enough to use it to your advantage then you will have to take what you want by force."

"Of course there's a balance," Kali scoffed. "But if you hesitate in your decisions then you are no better than the Sprites that inhabit this island." She turned to face the other. "I'm not saying jump without looking. But you can't change your mind halfway through jumping just because you don't think you'll hit your target. You have to be smart and fast enough to ensure that you will hit your target, no matter what is blocking your fall." She shook her head. "Humans are too stupid and complex to understand. None of us understand each other, that's why we have wars and fight all the time. That's why they slaughter others just because they look or act or think different that them."

Kali smiled as she watched Thessa leave. "Then you are stronger than I thought," She spoke, more to herself, in response to the mermaid's last statement. She watched her for a moment before turning and continuing down the shore. She wanted to see how big the island was so she was going to walk the whole perimeter of it.
