I feel like HTMF is devastating enough already... I mean it's a trilogy, you need some characters to survive past book 1

Can't be too careful, though. Minor characters can be really useful if they're not dead c;

haha, no worries, take your time! i understand it's long. I'm up to chapter four so far lol. I enjoy what I've read though! The relationship between Stonetail and her mother is interesting to say the least--though it's obviously strained. Definitely am looking forward to whats in store the next couple chapters c:

Pfft I trust you with the plot. I just maybe don't trust you with the lives/happiness of my remaining favourite characters.

Now that summer has rolled around, I've started reading this. It's fantastic, Tues! I love the character's distinct personalities and the tension between Mother/daughter so far, and I only read interlude I

Wow. I'm like, speechless. Literally, the only word coming to mind right now is "wow."
I'm not even halfway done yet (so no spoilers! *cowers*) but I am utterly blown away. I mean, I knew on some level that you were a really good writer, but you took my expectations and crushed them into a fine powder with your talent.
So, I'll say it again: Blown away. You have the kind of writing that makes me want to write and that is such a beautiful and important thing. Your characters just come alive on the page (er, screen). Stonetail especially is such an incredible character. She's relatable and intriguing and has actual faults and you still root for her! Plus, Coal is such a great balance for her; they're different and similar at the same time. Not to mention your writing in general: your pacing is amazing and you're descriptive without being flowery and seriously just wow. (Sorry I would give better compliments if I wasn't so awestruck lol) Fan me? I'm really excited to keep reading (although it might be a while if I have any hope of catching up in the BBFC)

oh my goodness, dew. ;w; i hope you know i reread this like, three times to get it to sink in.
but thank you so much!! i'm pretty sure you've seen me say before that htmf is my fic baby, and everything i have has been invested in bringing this fic to life as well as i can. i'm actually most thrilled that you love coal and stone so much, though. stone is based off an oc i've had for nearly six years, and she's grown into so many shapes, but this might be the one that suits her best because i get to show her being selfish and snappish even as she gets to be full of compassion and understanding. as for coal, he and his brother are lowkey based on one of my favorite duos in animation, but most of the similarities end at their brotherhood and their lost parents. everything else about them took a life of its own, and coal has rapidly become one of my dearest characters. there's something fragile about him that takes care to write, and at the same time, he's got this tough shell that's the only thing that's kept him and clay alive so long. his guarded heart is my favorite part of him, to the point that i know pretty well which songs i would put on a playlist for him (which...may happen in a special thread soon... [winks loudly]).
but again, thank you so much. ♥ this makes me so happy, and i'm so glad you're enjoying it so far. if you don't mind me asking, where are you at? what's your favorite part so far? (and if you have a favorite line...i'd love to know lol)

yeah, I think your characters are what makes this story "incredible" instead of just "great." even the bad characters are lovable in an "I love to hate them" kind of way. also, even the characters we don't see much of have depth, which is kind of rare in my opinion
on the note of characters, though, I'd also like to mention how much I love Clay. although as I'm typing this there's a little voice in my head saying "don't like the sweet, funny, lovable character!! if you love him he'll end up dying!"
I'm actually not nearly as far in as I thought. (which I'm happy about because I want to keep reading forever lol) I just finished interlude II when my tablet gave me the low battery warning and I had to stop. It was hard to put it down though. I don't know about favorite, but I really loved the vigil scene at the end of chapter six. It was really powerful despite being a small moment. As for favorite line... pretty much anything Clay says (especially when he apologizes for stone being upset the day before.. my heart melted) But again, I'm not very far in, so that'll probably change

ohhhh i am so glad you say that. as much as i love showing off a little in a description scene or fight scene, i'm absurdly invested in my characters no matter what it is i'm writing. they're the backbone of everything. and i've noticed that i'm willing to overlook slightly weaker plots in things as long as the characters still hold my heart, so i try to emulate that as much as i can.
haha, clay tends to be a fan favorite immediately after stone and coal! he does have that very lovable feeling, and he's just too sweet for his own good sometimes. we should all aspire to be like clay. as for characters dying...let's say i don't do deaths based on tropes of "x character type usually dies." but. characters do die. [whistles and walks away]
lol, i don't know about reading forever, but you've got about 55k words ahead of you if you're only on interlude ii or so. and yesss, the vigil scene was really fun to write. not in a cruel way, but in a test my skills to do somber and slow and respectful. especially since respect isn't something stonetail offers lightly. her relationship with greystar has taught her respect is earned, or it isn't given at all.
anyways, i'm going to bed because i need sleep pretty badly, but happy trails reading more of this!! cx i can't wait to hear what you think of the rest (some of my top favorite scenes are still ahead of you! especially a couple fight scenes).

i hope you got some good sleep when you finished! but aaaahhh, i'm so glad you enjoyed it! and the next one is partially available, you know. let me know if you need a link. they are super sweet. i love them a lot, and i'm really glad their characters shaped up the way they did, because they didn't originally have a lot of direction when i first started planning the story. they grew into their roles and i couldn't bear to change them.

I'm up to interlude III now, and I'm torn between finishing it all in one sitting or continuing to read a couple chapters every few days to make it last .-. Gonna keep reading for now, at least, because I should be writing and being productive is for chumps, right?

yeah, breaks are fine, but I'm starting to get a little too deep into one (as in, days into one. oops)
uh oh, "turning point" sounds a lot like "a character I know and love will likely die soon"
