I made it to the next interlude. I think this is the part where I get to yell at you, right?

you give it a little too much credit, haha. there's still things about it that could be improved. i'm still proud of it, though. it's the first longfic i've ever finished in my life. It's an amazing story, nonetheless, and an incredible achievement.

Sometimes, writing is a therapy in itself. I totally understand, aha. When I have a problem, I tend to just stew over it for a few days and hope a solution presents itself. If stewing doesn't help, I'm here!
no, you didn't! Well, congrats on writing it, but maybe not if you upset yourself? Ah, characters are hard!

It is fantastic for fictional problems. Amazing.
Oh no! But if it doesn't tear you apart, is it truly a worthy story? That is the question, isn't it?

you're wicked, truly. honestly though kudos to you, that is some quality foreshadowing. Most foreshadowing is either too obvious or not obvious enough, but you found a happy medium.
(& hey, you know what they say: No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.)

dingo - lol i have so many projects that require quality stewing atm
right? i think i made the right decisions with it, and plan to write my way towards them, but i won't lie and tell everyone it's a happy ending. it's a little happy, a little sad, and such a balancing act. not to mention it feels wildly in character. y'all are not gonna believe where the main characters end up, and yet, it's gonna make perfect sense.
dew - wicked is a good word for it. c; but yeah, i'm that person who always figures out the plot of a movie or show out loud before it happens (maybe not in exact details, but in bigger scope), so i put a lot of work into laying the breadcrumbs where they can be seen, but not dumping them at the reader's feet while jamming a neon sign into the ground next to them. make it possible to see it coming, but difficult. and then shoot for the "hindsight is 20/20 and i can't believe this" response.
true! it starts when it first hits the page. if the author isn't feeling it, the reader never will.

Theyrebthe best kind of projects, tbh
Ah, I'm even more excited now! You gotta hurry up and write it! I'm glad you've managed to balance the ending. It can't be too sad, but at the same time there's no way it can end happily for everyone.

Eyyy! I've just only started interlude 1 since life's been busy, but I'm already loving this. The whole idea of these two rogues getting taken in and mentored when they don't actually know anything about their pasts is super intriguing to me so far. Plus, the character development is fab. I'm really getting a good feel for Stonetail's stubbornness and her determination, and I see how that clashes a ton with her mother. It's an interesting dynamic! And also, I've only just met the rogues but you've done a wonderful job of differentiating their personalities so far.

awwww, thanks!! and while the clan doesn't know much about the rogues' past, the rogues definitely know it well. it's, to be honest, my one great regret with htmf, that i didn't open their backstory up further. but there's gonna be two sequels, so not all is lost lol.
as for character development? oh thank god. i put everything i've got into development, and stonetail is a very old oc who finally found the right shape and plot in this story. coal, clay, and greystar are all based on some of my favorite tv characters of all time, though they quickly diverged from their origins and became their own characters, and stream was based off an oc who came into being a short while after stone, but got a little less love until now. they're all very special to me. ♥

the first season moved a little fast, but i adore it, the second season had trouble getting off the ground but ended beautifully (and tbh should have been the end of the series), season three started to stray but was passable, and season four was...the words i have for it would probably get me some warnings against my account from the mods. it was some of the sloppiest writing i've ever seen, and while i can respect that the very end thrilled a lot of people, getting to see canon lgbt rep like that (being vague to avoid spoilers in case you don't know and still wanna watch), it was extremely disappointing to see it handled so poorly. i would have loved to have watched that last ep and seen myself there like so many others did, but it was hard to look past how weakly one character was developed and how badly they handled the other's character on top of shoehorning in a sudden relationship in the aftermath of a messy, barely connected plot. i wanted to ship it, but couldn't because they barely provided enough material worth shipping.
supposedly the post-series comics are doing a delightful job in terms of accurate and fulfilling character development, plus real development to the relationship instead of extremely vague possible set-ups that could be romantic or platonic, but after dealing with the ugly side of the fandom and the rude commentary from the creators following the end of the show, i can't bring myself to love it anymore.
lol this got close to essay territory. let's rein it back in. short version: i used to love it, especially in the early seasons, and the sloppiness of the later seasons plus the nasty commentary from the creators and the vicious side of the fandom made me lose my love for it very quickly. story told, the end.

aw man, I understand completely where you're coming from. My favorite TV show of all time for a while was this show called The 100 (idk if you've heard of it). The first season was just incredible (if not poorly funded), the second season had its issues but ended up all right, then by the third season it completely fell apart. I stopped watching when they basically canceled out all of my favorite character's development in a single episode. I've been told it's gotten better since, but I'm kinda afraid to keep going. Nothing like bad writing to ruin a fictional world for ya.
