Alice blushed slightly when she realized he had seen her look at him. Good thing it was chilly outside and she could use that as an excuse for the little bit of pink in her cheeks. But it was best if she didn't ponder it for too long and distracted herself with these other things in the store. One thing that caught her eye though was a beautiful necklace made out of the polished bits of seashells. They were delicately shaped into small spheres, similar to that of pearls. She couldn't imagine how long it must have taken to make it, but she could imagine how that would look on either her or her mother. They both needed jewelry come winter time. The gentleman from earlier was close to it, and seemed to have the same idea of buying as how focused he seemed to be on it. She stood opposite of him, making sure to keep her distance appropriate for two strangers in this circumstance. "It's quite pretty isn't it?" She asked, wanting to make sure she knew whether he was to buy it or not.

Thomas was too interested in the necklace to hear the girl across from him say anything. He looked up. "Excuse me?" He paused for a second. "Oh, yes, quite." He said quietly. Even though he bought the side comb for his mother he thought the necklace may be nice for her too.

There wasn't a clear sign that he was interested in it, but there also wasn't a clear sign that he wasn't either. A difficult situation to read indeed. "I think I'll purchase it if you don't mind." She said in a quiet tone that matched his, not wanting to be louder than necessary. And in such a quiet place as this nearly empty storefront.

"Um. . .I do mind. A little." Thomas quickly looked up at the girl across from him. And the more he looked at her she looked more and more familiar. odd he thought. Most woman where he came from liked jewelry and it showed their wealth as well. That didn't matter too much to him but more than some other people he knew. He thought it'd still be nice to get his mother the pretty necklace.
(Forget about the second part italicizedthis part too xD)

Alice raised her eyebrows in slightly surprise and her mouth a small 'o' sort of shape. But she didn't walk away, not even close. But she wouldn't make an argument of it nonetheless. At least, hopefully it wouldn't get the that point. "Oh, and why is that, may I ask?" She asked gently, trying to mind her manners even if she wanted the necklace quite desperately. It may be a mere piece of jewelry, but items like this were available on the mainland of Sanora, only in the islands. And Talvi is the only one with a nice climate and mostly flat landscape.

He was a little taken aback at her question he was surprised that she would ask. "I was going to get it for my mother." He replied softly. At first he was going to say something else but his mother would've gave him a good scolding, anyways it was a little disrespectful even if the girl was around his age

Alice gave a soft chuckle at his words, but her eyes were transfixed on the necklace rather than the gentleman. "That's quite a coincidence actually. I was planning on buying it for my mother." She glanced at him quickly but then back at the necklace which was sitting in an open box. She traced a finger on the one of the spheres before moving her hand back in place.

Thomas gave the young lady an identical chuckle. "That is a coincidence. I have to admit, I was assuming you were going to get it for yourself. I guess I was wrong." That was quite the coincidence. All right not that much. "What is your name? I feel like I have seen you somewhere before." He wasn't trying to veer off the subject he just wanted to know who exactly he aas taking to.

Alice gave him a small smile at hearing his chuckle. He seemed so serious before then, but at least he truly wasn't. Well, judging by how long she's known him that is. Which wasn't very long at all, but first impressions were worth quite a bit weren't they? "I'm Alice. Alice Taylor I mean..." she blushes lightly at her mistake of not giving her last name, but at least it wasn't a huge problem or mistake. "And I must return the question sir: what is your name?"

Alice Taylor. Thomas ran the name over and over in his head. Now he knew where he had seen the lady. The name helped, obviously. Her family had quite the reputation. He had probably seen her posing with her parents in a picture or something. "Thomas Browning." He told her swiftly. "Now the necklace. There's only one here so. . ."

Alice thought she had heard the last name Browning from somewhere, although she couldn't exactly pin point where she has heard it from. She didn't exactly have the best memory for things like this. But Alice quickly pulled out of her thoughts when the man who she learned was named Thomas, mentioned the necklace again. "Well, I think the proper thing to do would be to...give the necklace over the the lady." She chuckled, trying to keep the mood lighthearted as they spoke about this. But if she could demand for the necklace, she would. However, that would be very unlike her in many ways. Mainly because Alice was actually quite meek.

"Well. . ." he stopped thinking more of what he was about to say to Ms. Taylor. he was going to she 'so you're saying that your mother is more of a lady than mine? Well I bet just the opposite' he wasn't as much as a gentleman as he ought to be sometimes. "So you're a. . ." bite your tongue Thomas he thought quite tongue tied.

Alice drew her lips into a thin line to keep herself from snapping a him, even though she knew she wouldn't have. Alice raised an eyebrow at Thomas both suspiciously and in an annoyed sort of fashion. "Well? Go on then, you already started talking." She huffed, trying to not roll her eyes. It would make her look bad to this Thomas character and then he could start saying things to his family about the Taylors. However, he was already proving to he quite rude himself.

Thomas raised a brow and thought about it for second. "I already got my mother a hair comb. You might as well have it. . ." he hated giving in to the girl. Especially Alice Taylor. What'd she say if he was being rude to her? That'd be bad for his family business. He flashed her a look strode over to the table across from where he was at.

Alice gave him a smile, the seriousness in her face gone instantly at his new words, even if they may be hesitant. "Thank you Mr. Browning." She nodded respectfully to him before moving to the man at the counter of the store. He had been watching everything, and surely he must have thought it was a bit odd, but he said nothing of it which Alice appreciated. When she was finished purchasing her items, she looked over at Thomas again. "Excuse me, Mr. Browning, thank you for letting me purchase the necklace for my mother. Can I thank you in any way? Perhaps buy you lunch? Or did you need something in particular?" Alice didn't normally spend her money on strangers, but it would be rude of her to not offer him a thing in return.

He looked over his shoulder then turned on his heel to look at her. "You're welcome." He stopped for a moment. A lady taking a man out. A lady buying some for him. Nothing wrong with it, just that it was a bit odd. In his opinion. "How about. . . lunch."

Alice was happy that he had agreed to letting her repay him. But she felt very odd at the fact that it was a lady offering a gentleman lunch. Usually it was reversed was it not? "That sounds wonderful actually. Would you rather have it appear you are taking me out to lunch? I, well, I find it slightly odd if it appeared I had offered you lunch." She said this all quietly, hesitantly. Alice already felt she was pushing him to as far as his patience would go and she hated to make him do more than what was asked. But it would be horribly un-ladylike of her to go through with lunch and look like she was in the lead. Surely Mr. Browning would understand.

Thomas thought about her question for awhile. She must've been thinking the same thing as he was. "A-all right. What place would you suggest to go to eat?" This would be an interesting day.
(sorry it's short XD)

{basically 19th century clothing yeah
And it's fine }
Alice moved closer to Thomas, standing by his side, but leaving a few inches between them for his sake and her own. "Well, most places around here only serve fish so our options are mainly...well...seafood." She chuckled and looked up at Thomas to give him a smile. She continued as the both of them started to leave the storefront, "What sort of seafood do you like? I won't suggest lobster for obvious reasons." Lobster was prisoner and peasant food, it would be detestable for people of their status to eat lobster.
{It's true actually, back in the day, lobster was fed to prisoners and lower class people. Weird how it's switched now lol}

Thomas walked with Alice out of the small store. "Oysters are nice." He told her quickly, half to himself. He smiled back at her, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. He didn't know why but he was distracted. Anyone would be distracted by Alice Taylor. She was pretty, likeable enough if you (and she) stayed long enough to talk. She was also part of a wealthy family. That wasn't his distraction. His head was empty but he wasn't doing everything ythe way he usually did. It was weir and Thomas tried hard to focus on where they were going.

"Oysters you say? I'm afraid I've never tried them." Alice took a few moments to study his smile before looking back at the road ahead. His smile was actually quite nice, she wished she had seen it sooner in all honesty. But she didn't voice that, she had started off on the wrong foot already and wasn't about to demand something else of him so soon. Even if it wasn't a 'demand' persay, more like a request. But smiling and being happy was something no one can force someone else to do.

Thomas smiled at that. He didn't know why, he just found it a little amusing. "Is is it?" He asked. They were standing in front of a small restraint with a rectangular wood sign above it. The restraint didnt look the nicest, but compared to every other building around the town, it didn't look too bad.

Alice entered the restaurant with Thomas as he held open the door for her to come inside, and just because she figured it would make her look a little more classy, she put her arm through Mr. Browning's as most people do when walking about with whether it be a friend, date, or more. Obviously Thomas wasn't her date but on a technicality he agreed to take her out to lunch so it was appropriate in her eyes. Mr. Browning would already know why she was doing that. "What do they taste like, I've heard they're both good and bad from different people."

Thomas shrugged with his free arm. "Like the sea, I guess. If you have good one anyways." He pulled led Alice to a table on the far side of the restaurant and pulled a chair out for her. "You ever try Escargot? I never have."

Alice gave him a quiet 'thank you' when he pulled out the chair for her. She sat down, making sure her dress was in order before answering Thomas's question. "Well, my cousin tricked me into eating it once. I can't say I enjoyed it, the thought of eating slugs was enough to make my skin crawl. But I'm not sure if other chefs had made it much better or not. Case in point though: never trust your cousins." She chuckled.
