Yes, because there's no good reason whatsoever not to allow it, and if you do, it's pretty authoritarian and discriminatory.

Okay I'll try to say my reasoning, but please don't gang up on me. I only ask for a civil conversation and nothing more. I don't wish to offend anyone either. Also, please remain respectful to others opinions. I'm fine if a girl plays with men's toys such as cars, a wooden toy gun, etc. That's part of life's skills I guess that she could pick up. If a boy however picks up a barbie or plays with a toy blow dryer or whatever is a girl's toy, I'm not okay with that at all and if I have a son he will not do that whatsoever. Of course if a boy or a girl picks up the opposite gender's toys, they won't turn gay straight off. That's completely absurd. What I worry my son will continue the habit, or be encouraged by his peers to do women-like things as he grows. He needs to learn live's skills as a man such as fixing cars, learning how to fight, etc. I believe a man is supposed to be the guardian of the household and the women the partner of the man. I'm not too comfortable with anything being other than that. I don't wish for my child to be made fun of, and I wish to continue my bloodline as I grow into the older range. If my child was transgender then, I wouldn't really know what to do. I would kind of feel like I failed as a parent, not to offend anyone by the way. At least, that's how I feel about things, and I completely understand all of the above's reasons as well. Again, I don't wish to start an argument, so please be respectful. You sound like you're gonna be one of those parents who end up "beating the gay" out of their kids. Are you gonna kick ur kid out or send them to conversion therapy? don't have children. If you want to be the pretty little female in the household while ur alpha man bosses you around and tells you to make him sandwiches while you sit around and vacuum all day, go for it, but never have kids because they're gonna be miserable around you.

Children don't give a flying fadoodle about gender roles. They like what they like.
Besides also in kids meal boxes the boy toy > girl toy was almost always more fun.

As a kid, I played with stuffed animal, barbies, hot wheels, legos, ect., but I didn't play with them in the desired way. They were all in a very magical, yet very violent, world.

Any Barbies I had as a child always "disappeared" or "mysteriously" lost their limbs and heads. I'm honestly surprised my parents didn't think I was a psychopath lmao.
Dolls have always creeped me out. My sister and I shared a room when I was little, and the closet was full of these porcelain dolls. I was always so afraid of going in there xD

I love all the messages you guys are saying about how it doesn't matter and stuff But if we could stop saying that a kid playing with a certain toy is(or isn't) going to turn them gay or trans bc that still stigmatizes the Lgbt community and points out that its still wrong for someone to be like that since it isn't the "norm" Like I know none of you meant it that way but it still comes off as if a kid turning out to be gay or trans is still wrong bc no it's just going to let the kid be who they are (the implied straight is there bc "everyone" is straight so it won't turn our kids gay bc they are straight so let them play with whatever toys they want!) I don't mean this to be mean to everyone! I only want to point out we all have a long way to go towards normalizing the LGBT community into the mainstream and you are all doing a great job so far! We just have to keep working and making sure we are being inclusive of everyone and not accidentally say the opposite of what we mean just to make a point! But how do you phrase 'it won't turn your child gay' in a way that doesn't make 'gay' sound like 'a vampire'? although vampires are pretty cool so I wouldn't even be mad at that if I were gay

absolutely not, because AS WE ALL KNOW houses are gender specific DO NOT let your male child play with a small house or he will turn gay and ruin our marriages. do NOT let your female child play with a car that is not pink she will turn butch and again, ruin our marriages, because girls don't drive cars. and plEASE don't give your male child a doll, because as we all know, humans ARE gender specific and never forget if it's pink do not let your sons near it run away pink, a color, will turn then gay and ruin our marriages OK, take your LGBT hate somewhere else please. we have feelings too you know, how would feel being hated just for doing nothing wrong? it hurts seeing people say things like this, how not bding straight is bad, it hurts more then you realize. we didnt choose to be Gay, Les or any other sexuality, fate did and no one can change that. so, stop hating when you dont understand.

I'm gay and I knew that was a joke. It's a pretty paper thin joke too, It was not meant to be taken seriously. The OP thought that the controversy was stupid, so she was being sarcastic. Nothing wrong with that.

Just say it doesn't harm them in any way for them to play with toys that don't fit the gender stereotype. By saying "it won't turn them gay" while it means well, implies that a kid turning out to be gay is still a bad thing. Saying "it doesn't affect their growth and development in a negative way" is a better argument because it's true and also doesn't portray being gay or trans in a negative way
