IC :: Matthias followed, not nearly enough curiosity to overpower the fear. He didnt ask what was planning. Or where they were going, but as long as they kept the quicker pace than the large creature, they should survive. They were lucky they had so far, though they had found the cause of missing merfolk, it was the large creature eating them with one bite. One bite was so hard to believe.
When they got inside the crevice, the hole in the wall, Matthias made sure the two of them were further from the entrance as to not be slurped up by the monster. He gave out a sly breath looking to Mikel and back into the seminar waters waiting for thr thing to reappear at the entrence. "While we are briefly alive, I feel like this should be the most likely time I have to tell you that this was certainly a lot more intersting than I expected. A lot more fun than at the castle at least,"
He offered a small smile to the the other, if be could even see it in this light. He shouldn't find that funny, but at the time it seemed likely they would due, so he figured best time to say it. He would lilely have never been able to do this as he was a prince, but damn it was more enjoyable that Matthias could first imagine.
--
"Tried to, he literally only does it whenever I'm near anybody, so she doesn't believe me. He is an awful person and I can't stand him, but none of my sister's have believed me. He is the only thing I dislike at this camp, he has plans and ideas, secret, not good ones- I know it!" Nicholas insisted, ranting in a little bit. "He was one of the first people at this camp, but in the past he wasn't as bad as he is now. Something happened or- I dont know, but he changed for the worse and now I can't stand him."
Nicholas avoided the topic of the girl Fabian barely mentioned. It was something he brought up just to get under his skin, he did that so much with just the littlest of words. He would have liked to at least know why Fabian even said anything to Nicholas. His sister claimed it was because he was trying to keep him safe from harm, but he didn't understand how Fabian being a jack--s to Nicholas and everyone Nicholas talked to. Well, slightly different with whomever Nicholas talked to, more so as though they were trying to keep anyone from speaking to him.

Cowering nearby a merman prince in a dark crevice, trying to hide from a monstrous creature that was waiting to eat them outside the entrance, didn't seem like too much fun in Mikel's mind. Actually, far from it. But, before he could even halfway think about that, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape at what Matthias had said, laughter began to bubble to the surface and he could hardly contain it. He covered his mouth, adrenaline rushing through his veins and heart beat quick. He didn't want the creature outside to know, but...damn, this was hilarious. Priceless. "I..I..I can't believe..." Mikel could barely get out any sort of whisper out to Matthias, trying to hide the laughter constantly rolling from his lips. After a moment, he was actually able to compose himself, his laughter dying down long enough for him to let out an actual sentence, "Heh, I'm glad you had fun, then." He looked over at Matthias, a wide grin on his face, "At least you'll be having fun, ya know, before...." He gave another chuckle, but this one dry and short, placing a hand on his head, "Oh boy...we can't die. I mean, then again, if we don't die, then I'm definitely going to die because the King is going to kill me..."
A loud pounding came from the entrance of the crevice, shadows creeping into the hole as the creature outside began to move around the rocky ledge. It must have noticed them move in the area, but not where. Mikel wasn't sure if the creature could hear, or see, or what it could do. Finding that out probably would have helped, but he wasn't thinking of the creature then. He was just trying to make sure they didn't get eaten by the monster.
--
"Hm..." Oakley nodded, thinking about what Nicholas was saying. It seemed the Fabian guy had changed...was it because of the rebellion? She figured that could be a big factor, but that didn't give him the right to mess with Nic the way he was. The guy was a flirt and, from what Nic said, secretive and manipulative. It sent a shiver down her spine, making the feathers on her wings bristle, brushing along her shoulders and back. She could see it was effecting Nicholas greatly, so she changed the subject. She didn't want to make him upset.
"How many sisters do you have?" She asked, looking over to him as they walked. She intertwined her arm back with his, almost in a sense of comfort. Here she was trying to comfort this man, someone she barely knew. It was funny...but she would have done it anyway. She was just caring, and he seemed upset. If it was a way she could calm him, then so be it. "Do they all stay here, at the camp?"

IC :: Matthias gave a chuckle,, it would be louder because he didn't want to contain the laughter- but the safer they were, the better. Quietly, obviously. He still laughed just in a much more silent way, "We just need to hope we don't die then, because I'm sure you have at least an easier way out of punishment from the king rather than being eaten by- that thing. One of them I can convince a little bit at least," he said with a smile, going silent at the sounds. Matthias still had a stupid grin on his face though with it.
He moved slowly, ignoring the thumping in his ears after the long swim to the small hideout and decided to try something. Taking a slightly more serious attitude he attempted to feel around the crevice walls for some- oh, possibly a hole. It wasn't possible this was just it to the entire thing, a hole dug out by what anyways.... It could just be rocks crumbling and falling out, but it seemed to much room and at an angle for that to be true. "Is it possible there is a hole within this ho- oh. Wait, think I found something."
Matthias was shocked to find what felt like a handle- one to a door within the small place.
--
"Three sisters. Two stay directly at camp- my older ones, though the younger of those two is the one leading it, the one Fabian is with. She is older than me by a few months, but she is pretty freaking awesome. The oldest out of all of us is a bit of a ditz, she means well. Two years older than Jacqueline, Jacky.... The oldest is called Reina, the youngest however is little Beth," Nicholas said a warm smile suddenly coming to his face. Nicholas loved his sisters so freaking much, they were the three people he could trust not to betray him. If any of them did.... no, they would never- he shouldn't even consider that as an option. "Beth is a doll, though Jacky decided that she was to stay with an older woman who lives a small while off, though they visit all the time. Our family goes to visit there every chance we can get as well,"
He adored them all so much. They were the people he could trust. Of course Beth, being the youngest and last child of their vanished mother and awful father, was a favorite among the siblings. She was sweet and innocent, so young. It was the reason why none of them allowed her in a place where they made battle plans to raid castles, they weren't going to risk the girl's life here. Their own, sure, but never the youngest's. "So, you'll meet at least one of them- and if you have some good luck, you'll meet Reina as well. Beth depends though, you'd love Beth- I'm sure."

Mikel let out a huff of laughter at Matthias' comment, but then followed the movement in the dark of where he assumed the prince was. "Hey, what are you--" He then heard Matthias say something about finding something, "Wait, you found something? What did you find?" He tried to move a bit closer to feel around too, only to find Matthias' shoulder and side in the process. "Sorry...so what did you find over here?" It was so dark, he could hardly see a thing. But, the pressure of the space in front of him felt off. Way different.
Thumping from the entrance caused a shiver to run up Mikel's spine, "I think...I think it knows we're in here, Matthias..."
(srry these are so short xc)
--
Oakley laughed lightly, something creeping into her chest as she watched Nicholas' eyes soften and the fondness in his voice. She'd never felt this sensation, but she was sure it had something to do with the way Nicholas talked about his sister. He loved them, didn't he? "I would love to meet all of them." She said, looked at him now, "Beth, too. They all sound...interesting." She chuckled softly, "I'm sure I would love Beth."

OoC :: Don't worry about it! Sorry for not responding quickly, was in a place where internet was sucky.
Oh, and a question real quickly- do you think the merpeople would have the ability to gain legs when they move out of water?
IC :: "Don't worry about it, I think it's a-" Matthias paused as the creature started to knock into the entrence- he could already tell it was getting a lot darker than it should be. He took a small breath in- it knew they were close by, but it shouldn't know exactly where they were- until Matthias saw the beginning of the golden eye rising up to look in the hole. "Oh my god- I think its eyes glows!"
Matthias muttered it out in amazement but had to shake himself out of the daze because that was super not good. It gave the creature plain sight of the two in there and that was- that was chaotic. "I think it's a door, it has a handle- uhm, think we should take the risk of going inside? I think it's open.... One way to test it out-" And Matthias basically wanted the conformation of Mikel before doing anything because there could be something worse behind the door than what they were dealing with at the moment.
--
Nicholas looked to her eyes with a smile. Then he had to snap out of it really quickly, because- well he didn't have a reason. He didn't need a reason, right? Even if he really did have one stuck back in his mind from a long time ago. Nicholas wasn't going to let that thought even appear. But rather he moved from looking at her to the tent-like thing in front of them. He gave a breathy sigh looking at it- a light one so Oakley couldn't hear it. He shouldn't be getting close to anyone, not after last time according to everyone Nicholas knew. But- Oakley was- she is- he didn't know how to put it. But.... if he shoved anything growing, it should be better.
"Aha, this is where we were looking for. Should be enough room to stretch your pretty- erhm, secrets. And we can get you some new clothes as well, that will hopefully help out a little bit better as well," Nicholas said with a small laugh looking at it. He quickly turned back around to look at Oakley again. Huh, she did have really pretty hair- not the point. "I'll help you find the clothes you need,"

(it's alright ^^
and i think they could. it would give them more interaction with the avian people and humans. though, i would see it as the merfolk just recently finding this out. but it's your roleplay, so go with whatever you think will be cool! ^^ that's just my suggestion/opinion.)
The golden glow of the monster's eye had Mikel hypnotized again, but he could still hear Matthias beside him. It was hard to pull his eyes away from the scene, but he had to try. That eye...he knew it could see right through him. That scared him...that the creature could possibly find out and understand his secrets. They were his and his alone. He didn't want that monstrosity roaming around in his mind. So, he was finally able to tear his eyes away, closing them and leaning towards Matthias. That was the only way he could get that creature out of his mind. But, the constant thumping brought goosebumps to his exposed skin.
"It's a lot better than here, I'm sure!" Mikel cried, a shiver running through him. He was aware that something else could be on the other side, but what else did they have to lose? Die here, or somewhere else, away from that awful monster? "I hate this thing, let's go, Matthias..." He grabbed a hold of the prince's arm, trembling. God, he was supposed to be the brave bodyguard here. But that thing scared the hell out of him. And they were already in pitch darkness besides the creatures glowing eye behind them. It felt like a spotlight, only for them.
--
Oakley could feel something in Nicholas shift, and she wasn't sure what it was. Had she said something wrong? But he had smiled at her, so she was sure it was alright, what she said. Or maybe he had just smiled to not seem awkward? No, she was sure she had said the right thing. At least, she spoke the truth, and she was sure she'd rather speak truth than tell a lie. She would be happy to see Nicholas' family, truthfully. She hadn't seen the culture and family rituals of humans before. It seemed interesting, plus the people Nic talked about sounded kind and people Oakley would love to meet.
When they reached the tent, Oakley slipped inside, listening intently to what he said. She laughed when he did, more of a nervous laugh than anything. Here she was in a tent with a stranger, among a whole area full of humans, with a rebellion going on, and she was about to change into some new clothes and try to leave her previous life behind her for a while to help out these humans she didn't even know. It was a bit scary, but Oakley had never been happier. Here, she felt free. With Nic and these people, she felt brave and honest and loyal and like she belonged, if only for a small second. It felt nice.
"Thank you, Nic," Oakley said, softly, crossing her arms across her neck as she was finally able to let her wings out, "For helping me. I promise, I can help in any way I can with the rebellion."

OoC :: I was thinking that, and they'd probably have scales along their body to at least differentiate them from humans and avians, but I wanted to make sure it made sense at least. It would partially explain why merfolk aren't allowed near the surface, in fear they'll find it out and leave the kingdom.
IC :: "Got-" A large shudder from the wall caused by the monster bumping into it caused Matthias to pause his words. He almost swore it was knocking down some pebbles and dirt from the ceiling. Or possibly trying to bring the dirt above them down to crush them, but would seeing them die satisfy the beast? It seemed doubtful to Matthias, but he shook his head and continued speaking, "Got it- Opening it in, one- two-now-"
It was unlocked, but Matthias was not expecting to practically besucked into the room as water started to flood in it, and as quickly as they had entered- as Mikel was luckily clinging to Matthias no matter how odd it may be- the door closed. Despite the water that wanted to flood through, only the water around the two was what managed inside before closing off completely.
"What the-" was all Matthias managed to say as he looked where they had briefly come from. He could still hear the creature outside, possibly furious that it meal had disappeared move several harsh times into the wall before- stopping? And it took several minutes before Matthias realized something else was very, very wrong. He had to look to Mikel to even realize what happened first- because they had legs now. Legs covered in small patches of scales, but legs nonetheless. "Oh my- what the- Mikel?"
--
"I trust you completely to do so Oakley," Nicholas said to her. He did though- which everyone he supposed considered to be a dangerous trait about him. Oakley seemed like she wanted to help- she wanted to help in something that didn't even concern her. It was amazing, admirable to Nicholas. That someone who was completely unrelated to something would help out a group of people do what they thought was right. And overthrowing a ruler who had no cares about their citizens certainly seemed like the best way to go.
He moved slightly past her to search through the simple clothes first, comfortable and loose for the pretty, winged lady. After finding some general clothes, he looked for some type of cape or cloth to hide the beautiful wings on her back. She was really like an angel, Nicholas could swear it. "Here is some excellent clothes for the much more excellent lady that is to wear them,"

Mikel was staring over at Matthias with wide eyes, mouth open but not saying any words. He was literally speechless. What...happened? That large creature was trying to kill them, eat them, do something and then it started knocking against the walls around them and dirt was falling and Matthias starting pulling Mikel with him somewhere and then... Now they had...legs? "What's going on?" Mikel said in shock as he was finally able to pull his eyes away from Matthias' new features and towards his own. He lifted one of the new limbs and examined it as he moved his foot, his toes curling and uncurling. "Are these like...like the legends say?" No way that could be possible. Legends and myths weren't true. Were they?
---
Oakley watched as Nicholas moved to get her some new clothes. She examined some of the room while he did so, and took in the environment. She was still quite nervous, but also really excited. She wondered who she would meet next? As long as she was with Nic, though, she wasn't scared here. Because she trusted Nic here, surprisingly. It was strange, but he did bring her here, and he has been good to her. She thought it be easier to trust him momentarily and have him show her how things worked. Plus, he was starting to grow on her... She giggled as she looked at the clothes he'd gotten for her. They were different from what she was used to, but she was okay with that. She took them from his hands and smiled up at him. "Thank you, Nic. You've helped me a lot today," she tilted her head, "To be honest, I've been wondering something..." Her eyes drifted downward, not sure if she should ask what she wanted to. After all, it was none of her business. She was just...curious.

IC :: Matthias was pretty much frozen, he didn't want to move in fear the things in front of them had actually replaced the tails, sure, small scales were scattered across the legs in patches, extremely noticeable on Matthias as they were the ocean's color, but the orange blended with Mikel's tone of skin. Instead he watched as Mikel experimented and decided to respond.
"I've never heard any legends of merfolk like us growing legs. I've heard legends about the ones who constantly have them and supposedly walk upon the land constantly, but I've never seen proof they've existed," the blonde said unwillingly giving into moving the legs. As he spoke, they seemed to move on their own, with one of them near his chest before he looked at them. "This is... unheard of."
It took Matthias a moment to process it- he thought he heard a rumbling outside, another shove against the wall likely before a large roar- that's how the merman interpreted at least. "Where are we? This place is huge? Why are we like this- what even happened during this entire time?" The words were mostly to himself, because oh lord of the sea, Matthias was so confused.
--
Nicholas paused for a moment, wishing he was facing away from her instead. Wondering things could be rather worrisome, but he figured that he needed to trust her anyways. She seemed to trust him, coming with him to a camp full of strangers that may or may not turn on her if discovered to be a warrior of the sky. hiding the breath he took he smiled gently at her, "Ask away, if I feel uncomfortable answering, I'll be sure to tell you show, so otherwise don't worry about what you ask." He gave Oakley a reassuring smile to confirm it.
And then after the small questioning he would leave the tent so she could change in the privacy of the tent. Perhaps Nicholas was a flirt at times, but he was not perverted. And to be fair, he was slightly nervous after the brief encounter with Fabian as Nicholas knew he was going to be suspicious of Oakley and try to figure out the secrets she may have- the reason why Nicholas wanted to get far away from the conversation with her as soon as possible, other than the fact they were dealing with Fabian.

Mikel was still caught up in examining his new 'legs', wiggling his toes and letting them kick around, back and forth. When he heard Matthias' voice, he looked up from his new limbs and eyed Matthias' new legs too. They were alike, kinda...and they both had scales. What were these? Like those...legends of monsters? What were they called...humans? But why would they have these things? "I don't know..." Mikel murmured, looking around, scooting a bit closer to Matthias in fear, "At least we're away from that monster though, heh..." Well, they got away from one thing, maybe. Now, they had something else to worry about.
---
Oakley looked away for a moment, before continuing. "What exactly were you doing in the forest, when we met? I never really asked you that." She took a step forward, the clothes in her grasp, "Were you looking for something? Or someone?" It had clouded her mind. What was Nic doing just wondering the forest alone? During a rebellion, she was worried it was something bad. Was he spying for the rebellion? That could really get him hurt...she didn't want to see her new friend hurt. "Is it something that could hurt you?"

OoC :: Hey, I understand low muse, don't worry about it.
IC :: "Yeah, hopefully it goes back to sleeping- waiting for some other poor soul to go down there, but hey. We are likely the first survivors so now we have a reason to warn people not to go back," Matthias said. He looked over to Mikel, it seemed as though the other was fearful just as Matthias was. Of course, the prince would rather not mention that.
"This place is rather large though, and I'd attempt to try and figure out what it is if- if not for these things. It's uncomfortable to have them," Matthias commented frowning at them. He couldn't say he enjoyed the feeling of not having a tail, and the legs were already so awkward to have. He rhythmically strummed his toes up and down trying to get used to it before even attempting to stand.
--
"I had just finished some business out there, I was bored and stayed out for a little while longer until one of my sisters came to get me," Nicholas responded. "Nothing dangerous at the time that could harm me, I wasn't looking for anything or anyone at the time you found me, however I am rather glad I did stumble across you. It has so far been a great thing."
He didn't go into the business beforehand. That on the other hand was slightly more dangerous, and it wasn't the type of dangerous that required fighting. A dangerous person who he couldn't have guaranteed his life while talking to them. It wasn't like anyone liked him talking to those people who had power that could kill him, however he seemed to be the only one civil enough to even welcome them.
Then again, that was the problem, Nicholas supposed. Accepting the odd seemed to cause the most trouble for Nicholas and those around him. Funny, the first person he brought to the camp had been odd, albeit in a different way from Oakley- but still, Oakley followed the example of him bringing odd and abnormal into this camp.

"Yeah, they are a bit...strange," Mikel said, trying to move so he could stand up. He stumbled at first, but then gripped the wall of whatever-it-was beside them, legs trembling. "Heh, but wow! Look, I'm standing! They're not so bad..." He sighed, "But I guess that means we're out of the water, because...there's no water in here, and we can stand. I can feel oxygen." Mikel narrowed his eyes, is this a hidden underwater ship or something?"
---
"Heh, thanks. It's been pretty great being here, too.." Oakley said, looking down at her arm. There was a small slash across it from when she fell from the tree before. It had already scabbed up, healing faster because of her genes. "Oh, and uh, thanks for the clothes. I should...I should probably put them on now, so to not cause any suspicion or anything." She looked back up with a smile. "I'm glad you weren't in trouble. I can't wait to help out." She chuckled softly, looking down at her ragged shirt. She was just glad it covered up...things. "At least, once I get out of these, haha."

IC :: "No- No water? Oh my- you're right. I wonder if this means we have broken a rule, going to the surface, though I suppose this is not quite the surface." It was more to himself that Matthias spoke to. After all, he was never told of this mystery, though they couldn't be sure that the events were connected. Gaining legs while no water, however as Matthias though- it would explain why none were allowed to go to the surface.
It was an absurd thought, Matthias had to get it out of his head. Carefully, he attempted to stand as well to explore this place. It was large- it was so clean though, yet there were no signs of life in this strange, hidden area. He carefully took a wobbly step towards Mikel before saying to the other, "I suppose you would know what oxygen feels like, wouldn't you?" It was a sarcastic remark on Matthias' part as he had recently caught the merman hanging near the surface.
--
"Oh! Yes, here they are- I'll just be waiting outside until you finish getting changed," Nicholas said with a nervous laugh, giving the outfits to the winged girl. He had almost forgotten about that, but he still believed it was polite of him to leave while she changed clothes. After she took them, he promptly left the tent.
He waited outside on a crate then, thinking. The humans with magic had been known to normal humans for centuries now. They were shunned for being different, though an occasional sorceress was taken to do the work of prideful nobles and kings, royalty and the higher ups. There was a time when those were thought to be myths, and now, avians- the bird monsters of the skies- had turned to be real now as well, proven by Oakley being there. Next there'd be merfolk, it was absurb- but he was beginning to think possible.

Mikel glanced back at the prince, his tongue sticking out, still grabbing a hold of the wall for support. "Whatever! It's going to end up helping us in the situation, so don't complain!" He gave a small smirk, before looking around, trying to push off the wall to regain his balance and take a few steps. It wasn't too hard...oops. He tripped, nearly falling before he caught himself on the wall again. He breathed a sigh of relief. That was close. So, it wasn't so easy. But, he was getting it. He pushed off the wall again and started forward once more. Once he made his way back towards Matthias, he smiled, "See, it's not too hard. Let's figure out where we are."
---
Oakley could feel a blush cover the tip of her nose, cheeks, and ears as he began to leave. She whispered a soft "thank you" as he left, then turned her back from the entrance of the tent to remove her close. She started with the torn shirt she was wearing, tossing it aside. It wasn't like it was useful anymore. She then removed the small leggings made of wool, ones she'd found lying in the forest once. She stole them, technically. She wasn't sure whose they were, but she didn't like just wearing a long tunic for clothing. And it fit perfectly too. But that had been a good five or so years ago, and she was clearly wearing them out. After removing the dirty clothes, she began to rummage through the new clothes Nic had given her. It was a dark green tunic dress that went down to her ankles, a pair of black leggings, slippers that looked a bit big for her, and a black shawl that she could wrap around her shoulders for her wings, so if they stretched out slightly, they wouldn't be noticable. She sighed. Hm...not really my style, but I think I can fix that. She pulled the leggings on and the slippers. They actually were just a little bigger on her feet, so instead she noticed a pair of boots nearby in the tent. She wasn't sure who's shoes they were, but they were just...lying there. Hopefully they weren't anyone's, right? She pulled them on, and noticed they fit better. She could run in them, and that's all that mattered. However, with the dress, she wouldn't be able to wear those for running. So, she ripped the bottom fabric, removing the bottom of the dress until it came to just above her knees. Tugging the tunic dress on, she watched as it flowed down to her knees and smiled. She really liked this one. She then took the shawl and wrapped it around her shoulders, making sure her wings were secured behind her in the dress, but instead of letting it drape across her arms, she tied it around her neck loosely, looking like a scarf. She could pull it over her head like a hood too, which worked great. She looked at herself in the mirror with a smile. She looked good, other than her messy hair full of brown curls, but it was alright. She turned on her heels and headed outside of the tent. Once outside, she noticed Nicholas sitting on the crate and walked over to him. "What are you doing?" She asked, noticing he had a far off look in his eyes.

IC :: The prince grinned a little more as Mikel immaturely stuck his tongue out. In an amused voice he spoke again directly commenting at that, "It's rather disrespectful to do that to your prince, isn't it? I could have your rule-breaking, immature head for that," he teased lightly.
On a more serious note, he continued, "This place has an interesting layout," Matthias commented before attempting to take a step into the wide room, looking for anything to clue them in. "It reminds me of the castle in a way, but the layout is too different for it to be castle made by our people, which is silly in itself. It means that someone different would have had to made it- and there isn't any other intelligent creatures like us to do just that."
--
"Huh?" Nicholas said jumping a little, moving off the box quickly to see who had spooked him. Though he calmed down once he saw it was Oakley. "Oh, sorry- it's you, I apologize, you scared me. I was just thinking about some things, silly, unimportant connections I was making about certain things. Don't worry about it,"
The raven-haired male took the moment after he stopped talking to look over Oakley. She was beautiful. Not that she wasn't before! Just- she looked so amazing still. He was starstruck by her. She was so, so incredibly stunning. He stayed a minute just looking at her in amazement, before quietly saying, "Wow, you look gorgeous," Like an angel in human clothing.
Nicholas paused himself and shook his mind clear of that, a smidge of pink rolling across his cheeks as he realized what he said. What he was thinking. Though true, he had told himself that he would ignore doing or anything like that after last time, and he wouldn't risk doing that again. He absolutely could not.

"Oh, I'm sure you would, mister prince guy," Mikel gave a loud laugh, before turning back to look at the environment around them. Matthias was right. The structure was very similar to the castle back under water, but it had some differences. Nonetheless, Mikel was starting to think these creatures that lived atop weren't actually as stupid and vulnerable as Matthias was describing. "What if...what if they aren't as lame as you say they are?" Mikel started, taking another few steps before placing his hands on the wall. It was getting easier now. "What if...they are very intelligent, like us?"
--
At those words, Oakley looked away, a small flush covering her cheeks and ears. She gave a soft cough, as if to clear her throat, and looked back up at him, "Thank you." She chuckled softly, "I may have done some...readjustments for the clothing, and borrowed these boots without asking..." She muttered, eyeing the comfortable boots her feet were now soaking in. "So, uh, what are these silly questions, if you don't mind me asking?" She noticed Nic was just...looking. She wasn't sure why. Though it still brought that flush to her face.

IC :: Matthias paused, trying to think of how to respond. Finally he decided on something, "Then it means that we have been unaware of something, and I don't favor that idea in the least bit. It means that our people don't know of something, or it means something has been hidden from us."
Either option was dangerous. If the merfolk didn't know that there was someone of equal intelligence out there, that put them in danger. On the other hand, if they did know then that meant Matthias' parents knew about it, or at least his father. And to not tell him that there was some other being out in the world felt like betrayal.
"I- I don't want to dwell on that, not at the moment. If that's true though, it could mean this place is dangerous, so either we leave now and tell the others about this strange place, or we continue to explore," Matthias voiced out their options to Mikel.
--
"Don't worry, whatever makes you comfortable," Nicholas said looking her over one last time. He was just so honestly amazed by it, how beautiful Oakley was is such simple clothes. Then he worried that she was uncomfortable about his absolute amazement, and focused on answering her question.
Then once he processed it, he didn't know how to answer. Not without some small fear of something going wrong after she told her, or if it would lead to more questions or if he would accidentally say something insulting. Taking a breath and closing his eyes for a split second he answered.
"I was surprised at what odd luck I have. Out of every other single human I have ever met, have never met anything that could be classified as strange to humans- but me. I have met you, someone who belongs to a species that humans thought didn't exist other than in tales, and I've people who can do magic, and it is so odd that I seem to be the person to find this out, though it really is just some silly thing I thought,"

Mikel noticed the edge in Matthias' voice, and his heart skipped. He knew what the options foretold. It meant so much could happen now, since they know. They'd have to tell the others, and what if it had been hidden away from all of them, a secret to society? Then that meant that Matthias' parents...they... "Sorry..." Mikel mumbled softly as he realized what that could mean for Matthias. He thought about what they should do next. So...tell the others, or stay and explore and see if they could find out more information. If they could find out more information, that meant they could leave here after that and tell the merfolk kingdom about what they'd found. However, they could die in the process, or worse, since they had no idea what was out there. Those beings...they could kill them. "It's honesty up to you." Mikel voiced his thoughts aloud, "You're the prince. Should we go back and tell the kingdom as soon as possible? Or should we...see if we could find out more about these creatures?"
(i secretly ship Mikel and Matthias... >.> sorrynotsorry lolol)
...
(i also secretly ship NicXOak lol xD)
Oakley thought about what he said. It was true for her as well. As she hadn't communicated with another species before, she was sure they were all monsters. But Nic was no monster as she had seen before. He was no monster, at least to her. Her parents, her rulers, everyone...they'd all said to watch out for humans. Humans were almost legendary, though Oakley had seen them before, far away and through a lens. Now, she was interacting with not just one, but so many. It felt strange for her. And magic humans? How odd. She'd never seen those before. That was almost nearly a myth in her kind. "You've meet magic humans?" She asked, what he said bewildering her, "Oh wow...were they really amazing? I've heard they can do so much..." She gave a grin, "Heh, you must be a seer." She chuckled softly, "Since you are the only one that us creatures tend to interact with."

OoC :: I am actually so relieved, because I was shipping them as well, hehe.
IC :: Matthias took another moment to think. He took as many things as he could into consideration. If they left now, they likely had a good chance on getting to the kingdom and figuring things out safely. They would send guards to search this place, but it did mean that the two wouldn't have a chance to see it again. And considering this newfound distrust, he wasn't sure that telling them would be better- not if they had hidden something.
"Considering nothing has come to grab us yet, or attack us, I think this place may be empty. Or the creatures here are deaf and blind. We may as well stay for the time being to see what we can find ourselves. Plus, this was supposed to be a rather fun trip, no?" Matthias said cracking a small smile as he offered this choice. A way to find answers of their own, and even possibly a test for when they get back to see what was being kept hidden.
--
"Yeah, lots of them. My sister has given that job to me, talking with them. They are rather incredible, though none of them are all the same. Some specialize in magic different from others. I met one who could summon fire from the air, and another was able to control animals. I've seen a girl who can shapeshift temporally as well- many more," Nicholas said with a bit of a smile. Even if recently his sister regretted letting him do that, each day she seemed more and more in fear of his life because of the strange people he dealt with. Though he never met the friendly outcasts of society, only one- though he supposed that is where the distrust started with her.
He looked away from Oakley towards the sky and towards the forest in the distance, towards the mountains further away and towards the direction of the sea. He continued, "It'd be funny if I was, I wouldn't mind it. People different from normal, boring humans beings happen to catch my interest more it seems. They bring a bit more life to the world in my opinion, and they are much nicer than what the other humans make them out to be. And they never see it because they are so judgemental, honestly, I prefer the people I interact with more- because you aren't creatures, you are people, whether you hae magic, wings, or even fins- if such peoples exist."

Mikel looked back over his shoulder, still listening as Matthias talked but also examining some of their environment, and eyed the prince behind him. Something happened, he wasn't sure what, but what Matthias said made him grin wide and laughter bubble up through his throat. "Heh, I think you're actually enjoying our little adventure!" He tried to stand on his own again, placing his hands on his new fleshy hips, his legs actually standing up straight. "And I have to say, this hasn't been that bad, ya know, besides the blood craving monster trapping us and getting stranded on the other side of a wonderland with...eh, these new things." He kicked one foot out, then almost regretted it as he nearly fell back. He spun around, examining each feature of his new waist and legs. If that's what they called it. Though, he did notice something strange. Though he wasn't sure what it exactly was that was strange. "It's strange to see our new selves without a...er, our tails."
===
"That is so cool!" Oakley said, eyes wide and sparkling with awe, "I've always wanted to interact with a magic person before. However, avian folk aren't allowed to, eh, do much." She chuckled softly, sitting atop a barrel nearby. She was glad she had picked this attire, her wings were secure perfectly behind her and she didn't feel the slightest uncomfortable with having them pulled in this time. Well, it was a pressure on her back, but one she'd get used to, given time.
"From what I've heard, humans have a lot of problems with one another, such as wars and killings." She murmured, watching Nicholas' back, eyes skirting the forest beyond, "They can be trouble, which is why our kind never really associated with them. We knew of humans, of course we did, but we never felt the need to interact, which caused humans to think we were strange and complete myths. Though," She smiled, "I've met you, and you see completely different than what our kind think of humans." She thought of the creatures with fins, something she'd heard before, but never really given much thought to it, "I've heard of the creatures that are half human and half fish. It's strange, but I'm sure if I can exist, and magic persons can exist, than fish people can exist too."

IC :: "Ah, but that what makes it more fun, Mikel," Matthias said with a small chuckle himself. "Almost getting killed once and then trapped right afterwards, dare I say that this may be a once in a lifetime event for me, might as well make it last. Considering our near death experience, this may even be the last time I allowed out of the castle," Matthias said, grinning. He lightly placed a hand to his head with an overdramatic sigh, smile never leaving the face as he attempted to back up in an dramatic way. However he slightly miscalculated his ability to stand and instead lost the smile and his eyes opened in surprise as he promptly tripped backwards onto the floor instead. And stay there for a second trying to process what happened.
He eventually decided to ask as if it didn't happen and look up to Mikel before responding once more. "Yeah. I didn't even know this was possible- to have these things instead of our normal tails. Though, I've noticed patches of scales remain on the legs at least, so that keeps us a little grounded to the fact we are definitely still merfolk- hopefully we aren't just hallucinating this entire thing though." That would be something rather odd, the just be imagining legs and this building- was it possible they had died and this is where their minds had stranded them? No, they couldn't be dead because Matthias still felt too alive.
--
Nicholas laughed lightly at the first statement. "I could always go and introduce you to one of the ones I know and have met, one of the friendly ones that is. Some can be rather..... well, more along the lines of a stereotypical witch, however it's a shame you aren't allowed to do much in your society." He moved slightly closer and kinda kneeled a bit to get on the same eye level, or around it at least. Wow- she was still gorgeous.
Then he refocused one what she had continued with. "Unfortunately, humans do have problems with one another. Most humans tend to be violent, greedy, prideful, etcetera etcetera. Some humans can be more good as we consider it, kind and caring. Funny enough, it's more rare in humans to be that to strangers though. However, I liked meeting you- stranger or not, just wish that you had visited a little sooner," the raven-haired boy gave a small chuckle to that, a caring one though. He enjoyed her company a lot. And then Nicholas continued, "It'd be fun to meet one at some point in time if they do. See how much they really differ from humans, and avians. If they exist of course. Maybe we'll meet one one day."

There was a wide smile on Mikel's face as well when he noticed Matthias' playful tone. Hm, the prince, playful? Seemed...different. He liked it. Quite a lot, actually. He'd never seen the prince so ready for an adventure before. Of course, he wasn't going to stop him. When Matthias fell over, Mikel reached out to stop his fall, but he knew he was too far away to catch him. Oh well. It seemed Matthias was alright, if just a bit shaken. Mikel let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding, and tried to take another few steps to get closer to the other man. It was strange, seeing the new scales trail along the sides of their new limbs, shining in the soft light of the room they were in. Mikel examined the ones that traced Matthias' legs, reaching him and placing out his hand. He hoped he'd be able to pick up the other without falling down as well. That wouldn't end well. "I don't think we're hallucinating the whole thing," He chuckled, hand outstretched, some of his blonde locks falling over one eye as he looked down, "I mean, we could be, but I highly doubt it. And I don't think we're dead or anything. All this feels really...real." Everything seemed so real, too. The light shining on them gave a warm glow, something his skin could pick up, and he could also feel the cold draft coming from the door they'd just entered through, droplets of water dancing from the side of the entrance, making small noises as they fell onto the floor below. Mikel could hear it, vividly. No, he didn't think this was a dream or hallucination, or an afterlife.
---
Oakley let out a small chuckle, "It's not too bad, where I'm from. Our kingdom is just strict, is all. I actually admire our queen greatly." She smiled up at him, noticing he was now eye level. The short distance between them now was a bit more recognizable than she would have expected, but she didn't let it bother her. It was funny now, having Nicholas on the same height as her. "I would love to meet that one, though! To see their magic up close," Her eyes sparkled in awe, "It would be amazing."
She listened to his other statement, a warmth overwhelming her chest. She wasn't really sure why, but knowing that he was happy to have met her made her feel different, but in a good way. She gave a grin. "I am glad to have met you as well, Nicholas." She reached up to place one of her brown curly locks behind her ear. Her heart jumped when he said "we'll meet one one day". Together? At least he didn't plan on completely pushing her away immediately. She really enjoyed his presence, and she also enjoyed the presence of the other humans as well, even if they were a bit stranger than Nic. "It would be good to meet a someone with fins instead of legs, one day." She laughed, then decided to get back on their main subject, one she'd been waiting to get to, "So, where to now, captain?" She joked, "Are we meeting anyone new now?"

IC :: Matthias nodded, grabbing onto the hand to yank himself upwards carefully. As to make sure he didn't accidentally cause the other to fall instead. "Well, ready to start exploring then? We've been in this room for several minutes now and it seems fair to finally try and find a pathway somewhere through this place."
Once Matthias was on- on his feet, he started to move forward trying to keep balance. "I much prefer the tail over legs, much easier to control," he muttered to himself. The things they were walking on we're uncomfortable and hard to keep balance in. A downside to this exploration idea. He could just hope that the two got used to them fairly quickly. That being said, stop tripping over themselves and landing on the floor- being all wobbly- unbalanced.
It wasn't right for such beautiful creatures to be so unbalanced. So, uneven- he didn't like the way the legs looked either. They were a lot less beautiful than the glimmering tails that they should of had. He still wondered what magic this was to turn them to these beasts on two legs, in a place like above the sea with no water... no water. They weren't in water at all- for many minutes now, possibly above ten.
How were they still breathing? Matthias was aware they could survive above water briefly, with their heads out- based on what merfolk had done in the past, but generally the gills they had stayed mostly beneath water, so they lived. Or at very least, they quickly went back down in fear of being caught. He was surprised.... yet relieved.
--
"We can certainly do that then, one day," Nicholas said. He had a number of witches that she could meet- friendly ones of course. Likely the closest one to the camp area, which happened to be one of the friendliest ones and quite helpful. Though the witch avoided coming to camp directly. Mumbling to himself, he said, "Maybe you can tell me more about your kingdom one day..."
He moved back a bit as she questioned where to next. With a grin, he responded cheerfully, "Well, it'd likely be best you actually meet one of my sisters, though Fabian has likely already told her you're here, she'd probably want to meet you before anything else. And then we can get to something more fun than sticking in camp, depends if she has a job for me and if you want to join it or not." He offered his hand to her, his sister would be easy to find. Either in her tent or giving orders to others.

Mikel laughed, still holding on and making sure Matthias wouldn't fall. "Just don't go too fast...you'll definitely fall for sure..." He sighed, looking around, "I guess we could go ahead and start looking around for somewhere to go, or any evidence on whoever lives in this place...whatever this place is, exactly." He motioned for Matthias to follow him, hand resting on the prince's arm. "Let's go this way. Maybe it leads somewhere?" He pointed towards what looked to be a large opening in the far wall. It was dark, but some overhanging bright lights lit up the path, just a bit. Mikel could see the place was damp and cold. Very damp and cold. He shivered. Where were they? Was it an old ship? It didn't feel like an old ship. "We should be on the lookout for anything. If you see something, let me know." He then moved his eyes to trail the room, to see what he could find.
A warmth flooded over Oakley as she heard what he said, the idea of meeting new people and so many that were of this world, that could do things she couldn't, and that were also friends of Nicholas', awed her. She couldn't wait to see so much more of his world here. She could only imagine the many sites, the many places, the many people she'd get to encounter with him. It gave her chills. An adventure, one she'd been looking for...
Oakley jumped up at the idea of meeting Nic's leaderly sister, "I would love to meet her. Show me the way," She chuckled to herself, "I sure hope she sends me on a mission with you. That way I can see exactly what you do. Maybe you can teach me some stuff, too?" She smiled, hoping it sounded a little flirty and teasing, the same way he'd been doing to her. Though, she wasn't really good at flirty, especially since she'd never tried to flirt before. She looked away, cheeks red, "Maybe you can teach me to hunt or something..."

OoC :: Oh gosh, I'm sorry for not responding to this sooner. I thought I had, but it must not have posted... sorry...
IC :: The prince nodded, starting to follow the other with careful, cautious steps. Not just because he wasn't sure what was wrong with this place, however also because this was his first time walking. There was no water in this strange place, and yet both of them seemed to be breathing. "Are we sure we aren't dead and hallucinating this entire thing together?" He mumbled quietly, before focusing on the path in front of them. He was glad there were lights to guide them, otherwise they'd be in much worse condition.
When they entered the room, he wasn't expecting something so large and grand. It wasn't the best lighting, obviously some things had been broken down, and nothing of the merfolk creation, but still.... This room itself was beautiful, decorated in silver and gold- a giant, heavy looking object held high onto the ceiling dangled, and for a moment's worth, Matthias was worried it would fall. And the giant amounts of steps up into another floor amazed him, stairs straight up in the middle of a gigantic room leading to an unknown destination? It was amazing.
"This is- incredible, it's just like the castle I live but, completely different at the same time..." Matthias said aloud to Mikel, turning his head to the other merman in amazement. "As much as I'd like to observe this room though, and compare it to our own architecture, we should probably keep moving right?"
--
Nicholas gave a small chuckle, returning the words, "Or something~" He made a point to wink right after he said it in a flirtatious way. It was honestly hard to resist doing that, she was obviously blushing and a part of him hoped to urge that forward. Even if he knew it wouldn't be a smart idea and likely some would disapprove.
He paused for a moment staring at the rosy cheeks, before grabbing her hand and starting to walk away as if he hadn't just flirted with her back. He of course started in the direction of his sister's tent, finding it a way so that Oakley wouldn't have seen the soft smile on his face as he stared at her, nor seen the slightest of pink attempting to find way onto his cheeks. He was glad he couldn't see himself, otherwise it'd no doubt be the truth. But he couldn't possibly be falling for the girl he had met just previously this day. Right?

also, sorry this has taken me forever to write. like I said, my muse for rping has been really low, and almost nonexistent. I didn't want it to mess up what we already have on here. ^^ )
Mikel had chuckled softly as he and Matthias had walked from the room they'd started in, listening to what the prince was saying as he examined the hall they were walking down. He noticed the room in the distance was really bright. "Heh, well, if we're both dead or hallucinating the same thing, I'm glad we're doing it. This place sure is amazing so far, and I don't think I could make my way through this alone." He rubbed a hand along his own arm, feeling goosebumps from a cold breeze that had drifted in. Where were breezes coming from? They were far from the surface, right? However, that would explain why there wasn't any water down here either, so...
Once they entered the beautiful room, Mikel's eyes widened and he gasped quietly to himself. The room, the object floating in the air above them, the staircase...it was all so gorgeous. He let his gaze rest on the prince and gave a big grin, eyes sparkling. "This place is amazing. Though, I do agree. We should, uh, keep moving." He honestly didn't want to leave. Wow, were did those steps lead? Should they see? "Should we see where those big steps lead? Maybe it goes towards an exit of some kind."
---
Oakley's eyes had widened at Nicholas' comment, ears suddenly hot. She almost let out a small chuckle, wanting to retort back, but then he grabbed her hand and started to lead her away to...somewhere. She liked the feeling of his hand's warmth. She could detect his heartbeat, a booming sensation that trailed down her arm and through her fingers. It was slower than her fluttering heart. She was sure there was a lot of things about their bodies that was very different. She'd never studied human anatomy, not that she really studied much of anything liked that anyway, but she did know what the outside of humans looked like, and she'd heard of how they were much different than the avian-folk in many ways on the inside. It made her want to lay her head against Nicholas' chest and hear those powerful lungs she's heard about that the humans have. She, of course, had lungs too, but they were much smaller because she also had air sacs that rested beside her lungs, and-- Anyway, Oakley tried to stop thinking of their anatomies and mainly focused on Nic's hand in hers as he lead them to their destination. She wondered where they were going. Was it to see his sister? "Where are we going?" She huffed, the whirlwind of things happening suddenly making her out of breath.
