(Hm, I think they would send the probe right away, at least prepare. I think we could also skip to Oliver sharing information he might have learned with Morgan. I really don't care either way, though)
Oliver said a quick goodbye, traveling as quickly as he could to drop off his tray at the chow hall. He kept his quick pace, saying a few excuse mes and sorrys as he went along. He was happy to find that Eukal was already watching the growing crops when he arrived in the room. As to not surprise her, he went to work first, starting up everything that he had to do for the second half of his day. He had to start working on planting new crops to both get the next set of crops going and to show Eukal how they start their growing process. When he gathered all the things, explaining simply what soil they use, how they are planning on planting the seeds, and also grabbing tools to take clippings from the already existing plants to show her that route. The moment everything was gathered, he stopped his work, turning around to face the young girl. The question was simple 'Are there any tales about the ocean you have?'.

Fair enough. ^^ )
Morgan watched as they slowly lowered the probe. It looked much like a tiny submarine with a cylinder body and a small propeller in the back. Then again, he only had bath toys of submarines before, so Morgan certainly didn't know if that was accurate or not. He had suggested they color it yellow after the Beatles song, but that was quickly shot down. Maybe people didn't listen to the older hits now. Their loss. The man let his eyes drift around the room looking for Oliver. He had heard they had both been invited to the proceedings. He couldn't help but to push his glasses up as a nervous tick. He wasn't sure quite what he was called here to do and didn't like standing around. He would rather have a person to talk to, or a job of some sort, which he had already been denied. He was really starting to suspect they brought him here just for looks.

Oliver had been towards the back for the first part, but it wasn't to hard for him to spot Morgan in the front of the small crowd. It consisted mostly of technicians for the probe, higher leadership, and a few other key figures. The night before, Oliver got a couple tales from Eukal about the ocean, it seemed mostly like children's books or something that didn't seem true. Apparently it was an old children's tale that there was a beautiful fish that lived in the ocean, and one day a little girl had swam into the ocean to find this fish. Other talked about how the bottom of the sea floor was used by ancients for their burials. Some say that the ancients were still alive at the bottom of the ocean, having forsaken the surface of the planet. It didn't seem all to important to tell, so currently his plan was to run by the tales with Morgan first. He finally caught up to the spot Morgan was standing in, and watch the probe sink into the water. "Well off it goes" He mused, leaning forward to try to get a better look into the water rather then at the probe "Hard to believe they got this set up in less then a day, right?"

Morgan jumped as Oliver spoke. He had quit looking for the man and had watched the probe. He had drifted off thinking about the different things they might find. He had not heard the man walk up behind him. He shuffled out of the way so Oliver could get a better look. "Maybe they were just looking for an excuse to dump this guy into the ocean." Morgan suggested with a lopsided smile. He gave a quick glance at Oliver before returning his eyes to the water. "Did you find anything useful from the natives?" He asked, slightly curious.

Oliver frowned "That's a sad take on this" He wondered why Morgan would even have that kind of thinking, seemed rather depressing to think that way. He drove those wonders out of his head, focusing back on the matter at hand "A few of them, one of them is pretty long but the others are pretty short. They sound a lot like old myths, so the truth might be a bit stretched here and there" He made a few motions with his hands "But, we can talk more details in a bit, I want to verify that we shouldn't report some folk tales before, you know. Reporting it."

Morgan blinked. It didn't seem sad. Maybe Oliver thought the fact that the scientists were waiting to drop the probe in was a bit sad. To Morgan, that didn't really seem sad. Honestly, Morgan was a bit confused at the statement. He decided to move on. "If it is just some myths, I doubt they will want to know about it." He gestured to the higher-ups, who were all watching the small screen playing what the probe was seeing. "Though I wouldn't mind listening to them." Morgan didn't like to admit it but he was a bit rebellious when it came to authority. It seemed childish but he didn't feel comfortable around those of authority. He did his best not to act out; however, he wasn't above a couple of small acts of rebellion.

"That was my thinking, unless we find out more information that is" Oliver was sure come a few years when some anthropologists arrive to this planet, they would eat up the myths like a five star meal. Till then, they didn't add a whole lot to their research. "If something comes up, like one of the creature is similar to the myths, we will get their attention." He was glad he wasn't going to be the sole person to carry the myths till such a time. If he died before then, then it would just be more work to get this information again. "I can tell you, after this whole thing, of course"

Ah! Sorry for not replying. I got my muse for this but now I'm back. )
Morgan nodded again. He wasn't really interested in the myths. Okay, maybe he had some interest, but he doubted that he would remember them. Sadly, it was becoming a struggle to remember his first life's stories or memories. It was a bit distressing, but not as much as he would have thought. Maybe it was the fact that he felt detached from his first life. It almost felt unreal and too normal. "If any of them are useful, we could type them down." He suggested, bring his mind to the matter at hand, "Maybe give it to one of these guys." He motioned his hands to the scientists, who studied the screens and vitals.

Oliver followed where Morgan had motioned to nodding a bit "Sounds good." Even if it wasn't used, then it would be entertaining stories to tell. At this point, though, he just wanted this to be over, he was tired of standing about waiting for everyone to do their jobs where he had none in this. Waiting was his least favorite pass-time, years of being a teenager solidified that opinion. There was just so little to do in those years in a lot of universes, you couldn't get a decent job that young and most of the time you were expected to learn the same things you already learned two times over.
(It's fine, my muse is trying it's hardest to slip away)

Yup! sorry for the slow replies. )
The results had not come out for the probe, which made Morgan antsy. With him commonly coming in covered in clay and other earth, people already thought he was a bit "out there". If it turned out that nothing was in the ocean, than Morgan was screwed. Both him and Oliver would be seen as the boys who cried wolf, or simply get their eyesight or minds tested. He was guessing both would happen. As he finished putting on his helmet and securing it, he looked over at Oliver. The other man had seen it, so hopefully, they both weren't crazy and that thing was out there. A small smile grew at the thought. He wanted to name it, if the natives didn't already have a name. By this luck, the name would translate into destroyer of worlds, or something of the sort. He didn't like to admit it, but he was curious about things. He couldn't help but to be drawn to anything new, which was why he was a bit excited about this mission. They would be entering unknown territory. At least, it was unknown to the humans. "Are you ready?" He asked the group.

Oliver was glad to have a rare opportunity to go explore the planet he was living on. Sadly, it wasn't the one he was hoping for, but when he was tasked with being the 'botanist' in a sense for an exploration, he was excited anyways. Botanist was being used lightly as it mostly was him taking any samples along the trip that he deemed were important enough to bring back, the seeds he would try to get working in different types of air that the other scientists wanted to test and the clippings would be given off to the actual botanists. He had spent most of the preparation working with a more experienced explorer secure his helmet and equipment. It at least wasn't a complete train wreck to make sure he didn't start to suffocate out there, so that was a plus. "I'm ready" He couldn't speak for the rest of the group, but they couldn't possibly take as long as he did.

Morgan, for the mere fact that he was closest one to the button, got to open the door. It wasn't anything like the movies, which is what always disappointed Morgan. Instead of flashing, red lights or a voice saying door opening, they had a large metal door sliding open. Which was pretty cool, but not as much as the whole thing would have been. As just the map guy, Morgan took a step back so the muscle and natives could go out first. He waited for the all clear before following the group. He blinked as his eyes slowly adjusted to the light.
(I'm not sure what idea you had for the planet. )

Oliver fell back next to Morgan, not 'having the training' to lead up front. There were a couple of humans with what he assumed were guns of some sort, but there were far more natives up front. He was covered his eyes with a hand to help himself get adjusted to the light, giving a small grin. "What is your quest?" He asked Morgan once they were outside and starting their trip. He always felt weird walking over the ground, surprised that the natives are perfectly fine with the ground that would certainly end with him having countless scratches on his feet if he went barefoot.
(All I had was there are prickly plants covering the ground with fruit growing sparingly on that plant)

maybe a hot, dry area with lots of thorny plants and maybe scattered Oases? )
Morgan made sure to walk in the more beaten down areas, even wincing as he managed to still step on the thorny bushes. He knew what they did if they got under your skin. He had seen the wound fester and become infected. He would not like for that to happen with him. He looked up when Oliver addressed him. "Oh, I'm the mapper basically. I check out the landscape, what and where animals wander around, where food grows, and look out for landmarks." He explained this quickly, use to this task with the curious natives or arrogant muscle. Some people liked to question his role and usefulness to the team. "What about you? You're the plant guy, right? You're here to catalogue all the plants and find out what you can." He asked, but then seemed to answer himself a second later.

Oliver scratched his helmet-man he had to really hand it to science for making the helmets a lot smaller then the 1960's. A+ to them. "I guess? I am not as good at documenting alien species, but I am gathering samples for the people who can do a much better job. I'm mostly the 'can grow things good' kind of guy." He let out a laugh, having to do a hop to avoid falling off the path too much-he was already pushing it as is. "Frankly, out of everyone there, I might be the least qualified, barely any college time, no degree, just training they gave me." All the others had some sort of college or specialized training under their belt, he just was picked for his pure potential and lack of family, and even then they had fail safes in case he ended up not meeting any of their expectations.

Sorry. )
So Oliver was basically a farmer. At least, that is how Morgan interpreted the job. He couldn't help but to snort at the idea. He images Oliver with a straw hat and a straw in his mouth standing in the middle of a prickly field. Also some of those baggy, jean overalls just to complete the look. "At least you know the native's language to some extent." He pointed out. Morgan wondered if his short college time in his past life counted as education here. He was guessing not. The official records wouldn't show it and he wasn't willing to explain the whole life thing. Oliver would be confused or think him crazy. Morgan always seemed to get himself in the circumstances were telling the truth would make him seem a bit off. "Growing something is a talent of its own you know. I couldn't grow anything. Once, I killed bamboo." He said with a slight smile. "I was really upset when it died. I had hid it from the family for weeks because my parents had reassured me that bamboo was one of the most durable plants and it wouldn't die." He kicked a thorny branch out of the way. "I would probably find a way to kill these things too."

Oliver gave out a laugh with the explanation of the bamboo plant. That was a talent to behold-someday he would have to witness it himself. "Well...first off, I had a bit longer to prepare-not by much but at least a bit. You just were...around? Honestly I never heard anyone talking about you before the voyage, so I am assuming you had no time to prepare by learning the language" He took a moment to think about what he had just said "Did you stow away on this trip or something and the higher ups didn't want to talk about the idea that someone was able to stow away or what? You being around honestly makes little sense" He didn't want to pry too deep into Morgan's personal life, but someone had to know him before the voyage, right? It wasn't like Morgan could teleport or something, right?(though admittedly, that would be cool) Oliver thought.

Morgan snorted. His arrive time was a bit late and he once again annoyed at how whatever dropped him off didn't think about the simple things. How was he to explain when he appeared on the ship that was currently headed to a planet and he wasn't on the list? He had done it, but it took a lot of lying, dramatics, and complaining. If he had to admit, there was a lot of wide, puppy dog eyes and confused looks. Some poor man got the blame for not adding him in the registry. "As if they would speak about a simple map maker. I was among the dozen of nameless faces that came." He dismissed Oliver's words. He smiled good naturedly at the man. "At least there was nothing to say until I came in head-to-toe covered in clay."

"There has to be a story if no one talked about you." Oliver wanted to press more, he really did. He guessed there was a great story on how he managed to be apart of this crew. "I won't get too much into your personal life, I'm sure that is the last thing you want from a stranger" He knew this plight all to well, someone would talk to him for a bit and then questions start getting to detailed. He would either have to change the subject or just ignore the question all together with a 'I would rather not talk about it'. It got this well especially when it started getting into the fact he wonders from life to life-which the last time I talked about that was in his second incarnation. "You really are a magnet for that kind of stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if you were covered in clay before our first stop."
