Eamon didn't need to be told twice. He didn't even retort something - though this was definitely a free pass to do so later. He took off after them, his longer legs making it far easier to catch up. The pounding continued, even as he left what should have been hearing distance, and he knew that he wasn't hearing the officials anymore. It was just a continuation of what had once been, a reminder that they weren't safe.
He caught up to them just before they got under cover of the trees, and despite his relief, he didn't stop. Not yet. Not when the officials had definitely made it out by now. He kept going until he could no longer see the building they'd come for all the trees, at which point he stopped beneath a tree that looked climbable enough. This way, he had an escape route.
He exhaled slowly, hunching over slightly to catch his breath. He needed to run more often, it seemed. Had he been slacking off? Not important, he reminded himself with a mental slap, looking back at Rei. They had more important things at hand. "If we hear them, we climb."

scar - a new thread works for me! I'll set one up right away.
wildsong🎧 - mine'll probably take a while, too, as I'm heading off to bed pretty soon. don't feel like you have to write something long like we've been doing, just a brief paragraph or even just a bullet list would be just fine c:

Bluespur - not at all! I think I'll make them greek, just because I already have a character I'd like to use. I absolutely don't mind if you keep him greek, though, that should work just as well.
ᴄᴇʟʟɪsᴛ - right? omg that would make things so much easier I'm just as comfortable with mxf or mxm as I am fxf really, so if you want to play a guy, that's perfectly fine, please do! it might even make more sense given the setting and time-period. [ Yess it would xnx It's so hard when you have to follow a different time zone bleh Ahh thank you ;v; True true, the setting does make it a little more sensible but a sprinkle of fantasy always makes things fun cx Would you like me to write out a description for my character? Edit;; also would you like to create a new thread or just write here? ovo ]

Rei wanted to kick themselves just for the fact that it didn't take Eamon that long to catch up. Of course it didn't. They looked around wildly before realizing that the building was far behind them. That didn't stop them from still being just a little bit wary. It didn't stop them from leaning against a log. If anything, they were just hoping to stop and rest for at least five minutes. Then they lifted their gaze up to look at the guy.
In relatively normal circumstances, like a party of sorts, Rei totally would have walked over to them with a greeting before trying to flirt. Of course that wasn't the case. And frankly, this guy was more of a jerk thanks to first impressions. They couldn't deny that having someone to survive with was good enough. There would be morale, and different sets of skills.
"How rude of me..." Rei chuckled before holding out a hand to him, "Call me Rei, last name is Brookes." they said with a crooked and tired smile as they were nodding at his suggestion.

ᴄᴇʟʟɪsᴛ - still, I have to say it's pretty amusing every time I'm like 'time for dinner' and the response is 'wait what I haven't had lunch yet' always up for a bit of fantasy tbh! I don't mind either way! I tend to write something short up regardless (or something long if that's something you want to do) but that absolutely doesn't mean you have to create a form for your character as well. it's purely for my benefit. I stick by the opinion that a different thread would make keeping track easier, but staying here wouldn't be a problem either.
scar - here, sorry it took so long!

[ I agree - that is pretty amusing cx I'm in school right now (it's 10:02am) and I know that most people are (hopefully) in their homes by this time so... it's pretty cool to see the difference A bit of fantasy is life >< Oh no I usually regard character descriptions as something that you write to just know who your character is and what they look like *cough* especially in the beginning because I have the tendency to forget till I get used to them *cough* so there's no need to make something long - I used to do that but I learned my lesson to keep them shorter Yup, I also agree with you there. Let's make a new thread cx Would you like me to make it? ]

ᴄᴇʟʟɪsᴛ - when I first started using the internet I didn't know timezones were a thing (ridiculous since I'd moved to live in the UK, which is in a different timezone to Sweden where I spent all my life up to that point, a while before that and I know the UK was an hour behind. what can I say?) so I was always confused because people stayed up so late and I didn't understand. oops. true that. yeah, same. I'm so forgetful with new characters, it's kinda ridiculous. I still get carried away with older characters, though. I shouldn't, but I can't help it. if you could, that'd be great! I'm going to be pretty absent for a while so it'd be a few hours until I got there.

Haha that's totally a-okay - timezones are still pretty confusing to keep up with at times especially if there's a very large gap :/ Whoa! The UK and Sweden? Man I've never been to either one of them. I've lived in the US for a while and traveled around pretty often (now I'm stuck in Korea) but... goodness that's really really cool owo What's it like to live in Sweden/the UK?? That's also a-okay cx I still tend to get carried away with older characters too haha... I only remember a few who I've seen over and over and over again (my friend [who isn't a forumer] and I write stuff on our own and out of the million characters we've made I think I only remember around three or so but that's a secret No problem! I might go after creating the thread though cause it's almost 2am here and I gotta deal with school tomorrow xc I'll post the link on here
Edit ;; here it is! c:

Eamon cleared his throat and straightened up again. He'd gotten his thirty seconds of rest, he didn't need any more than that. He looked down at Rei's extended hand, confused for a brief moment until he realised what he was expected to do. He took their hand and shook it once, firmly, before leaning back against the tree trunk and crossing his arms over his chest.
"Eamon," he replied as he settled back against the rough wood. "Eamon Lewis, if you wanted a full name." His name was one of few words that still held that Irish twinge he'd lost as a young child, and it contrasted strongly against the rest of his sentence. Even to him, after so many years, it was a little disorienting. "Sorry about crashing your fight back there. I don't think straight when I'm bored."
His biggest flaw by far had always been his inability to sit still. It had gotten him into varying shades of trouble since he was old enough to get into trouble at all. He had to say, though, it had never gotten this bad. This he would not be able to just talk his way out of, or even sit a sentence of a few detentions. He wasn't sure what, exactly, he'd gotten himself into, but he knew that he'd been spotted by at least one officer. He doubted they were very happy with him.

In all her nine years at camp, Cora had never seen the oracle. Well, she'd seen her, there was that one time it walked into the middle of a game of capture the flag, and now that Rachel had taken over the post, she even interacted with her on the odd occasion. But she'd never seen her prophesize. So it only stood to reason, she thought - maybe a little bitterly - that on the day she got her first quest, in nine years mind you, she wouldn't get to see it either.
Instead, it was Chiron who approached her earlier that morning, while she was eating breakfast with her cabin-mates. He'd pulled her aside for a moment, seeming to think that she wouldn't tell her cabin-mates whatever he told her anyway. "I need to see you today, before you go to train," he'd said, and she could tell he'd been worried. "Come to the Big House once you're done here. And don't tell anyone about it, we don't want this spreading yet." If they didn't want the camp to find out, it must've been bad, so Cora returned to her table quickly, watching out of the corner of her eye as Chiron approached a boy sitting with the Hermes cabin - Mackensie, if memory served.
She shovelled her food down and, when they asked, gave only an apologetic look to her siblings. She was worried already, and she knew if this announcement wasn't being made publicly, she had good reason.
She left them early, while they were still eating, walking to wait outside the Big House as instructed. She paced impatiently, drumming her fingers against her thigh. She wondered what could be so bad that even the demi-gods had to be kept out of the gods' business - because she was sure that was what this was. God business.

"Hey, hey, guys shhh. Look over there, Chiron's having a mano a mano with that girl from the Nemesis cabin... what's her name? Cora or something?" Mackensie said in hushed whispers with his cabin mates as Chiron spoke to the girl. "Ohhh, he must of said something good look at her reaction." He continued, laughing heartily with his half siblings. "Don't look now boys he's on his way here now... Ryan you didn't get caught tee-peeing the Hephaestus cabin did you?" Mackensie growled at the younger teen who shook his head violently 'no'. "Heya Chiron, what can a couple of humble 'ole Hermes kids do for ya?" The Hermes cabin head asked, joking around with the ancient centaur. "Come with me please Mackensie." Was all the centaur said as he walked off a few yards.
Mackensie gulped loudly as his friends gave him a few words of encouragement as he slowly made his way over to Chiron. Please dad... Zeus... anybody... I promise I won't condone anymore pranks in the Hermes house as long as I Chiron isn't about to bust me... I promise... okay that's a lie but I'll cut back on it a lot! And I'll make a conscientious effort to befriend the kids in the Hephaestus cabin even though they're the ones- never mind that. Please gods save me from Chiron's potential wrath!
"Hey Chiron, buddy 'ole pal. Listen... I already know who tee-peed the Hephaestus cabin so don't you worry I'm already on top of it." Mackensie said assuming their talk would be about the childish antics the Hermes cabin plays. "Hm... this doesn't have anything to do about that but we will discuss that at a later date... in full detail." The centaur threatened. "Anyway's when you're done with your training come see me at the Big House... don't tell anyone about this, we don't want any word of this getting out." Chiron whispered, barely loud enough for the teen to hear. Mackensie nodded rapidly, and briskly made his way back towards his table. "Jigs up Ryan, Chiron knows." The teen lied. "Better go tell him now, before he confronts you."
"Alright boys I'm gonna hit the track early, for now keep discussing Capture the Flag tactics. We've won each week for the past month let's keep the streak alive." Mackensie said before leaving for the Big House. I wonder what could have Chiron in such a fuss... "Oh, hey Cora... what're you doing here?" The young man asked as he nearly bumped into her as he was deep in thought.

Cora might have jumped straight into the air if she'd been a little less trained in how to deal with surprise, but as it were she jolted upright, whipping around with her eyes wide. She let out a shaky breath when she saw that it wasn't an unknown attacker (not that an ambush was possible in camp, anyway) but just Mackensie, the boy Chiron had been approaching when she left her cabin behind.
"It's not really any of your business," she said with an eyebrow raised. It really wasn't, Chiorn had been clear about that. "If you must know, Chiron asked to see me. Probably something one of the younger Nemesis kids did while I wasn't paying attention." Se shrugged, as though she really didn't know. She didn't. "Being conucellor's exhausting," she added, which was true.
Truth be told, she was still focused on this godly business she'd been called to discuss. What kind of news did you tell the daughter of a minor godess but not the usual heroes in camp? There were so many demi-gods who were used to this kind of thing. Why pick her of all people?
"Why are you here?" she demanded. Fair's fair, even if she'd told him a straight up lie. There was nothing stopping him from doing the same thing, after all.

Cora being scared and jumping at the sound of his voice made Mackensie himself jump anxiously. He coughed awkwardly hoping she didn't notice the small mishap and listened as she came at him with and I quote 'a sass level that broke his "sassometer"'. "Wow wow there tiger, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to but tone it down a bit, a guy can only take so much!" He said feigning being hurt. Considering Chiron spoke to her just before speaking to me, chances are we're here for the same reason... better not risk it and find out though. The teen thought to himself. Mackensie was deep in thought, so much so that he nearly missed Cora's question. "Hm? What? Huh? Oh, me? I'm just here because uh... Ryan tee-peed the Hephaestus house so I'm here to tell Chiron about it." It was a terrible lie and Mackensie knew it, thing was it was the only thing that came to his mind. Come on man, snitching on Ryan? That was a terrible excuse, everyone here knows I'm the one who orchestrates all these pranks... Better hope she's gullible enough to believe it though... "Speaking of Chiron, shouldn't he be here by now? This is kind of important." He said with a sigh, looking at his 'broken' watch to try and tell the time. Everytime Mackensie, you know it doesn't actually tell the time.

Cora looked him up and down, eyes narrowed, but shrugged and let it go. If she called him out on his lie, he'd get a free pass to do the same to her. If both of them had been summoned at the same time, chances were they'd been summoned for the same reason - if Chiron wanted to keep this under wraps he wouldn't ask for either of them for anything other than what he'd asked the other for - but she wasn't going to risk it.
"He should be," she agreed, visibly more relaxed now that they'd gotten past their explanations. "Maybe he has more people to see?"
"No," came the response from behind her, and it was all she could do not to jump again. "No, just you two. Come in, I have something to tell you both." He pushed open the door to the Big House and trotted it. Cora glanced at Mackensie, then followed. Time to get some answers.

Chiron led them both into the sitting room, and after squeezing himself into his wheelchair, gestured for them to sit down in the provided chairs. Cora did so, looking nervous. Chiron waited for Mackensie to do the same, and once he was satisfied with their positions, sighed.
"There's no use beating around the bush. Poseidon's trident, Zeus' lightning bolt and Hades' helmet have all been stolen." He held up a hand signalling that he wasn't done yet, before continuing. "They suspect the roman counterparts of some of the other gods - Venus, Mars and Minerva, more specifically. Obviously, they can't prove it, but they need their symbols back. That's where you come in."

"And why in the name of Tartarus are you choosing a Hermes kid and a Nemesis kid?" Cora demanded, glancing at Mackensie. "No offence," she added quickly. "I mean, you have all those experienced heroes to choose from. Like half of them can cause earthquakes. Last time I checked, all I can do is give someone a stroke of bad luck. Maybe. Sometimes."
Chiron sighed. "It was your parents who volunteered you. Hermes and Nemesis are already tracking the symbols down. Zeus thought the god of thieves and the goddess of divine justice would be perfect for the job. And the big three are working on it, too, their subjects are working around the clock. But they still can't interfere directly with the other gods. Demi-gods can. They volunteered you two. The gods didn't want more people involved than necessary, they consider this incredibly embarrassing, so they were limited to one each."

Cora had to admit, that stalled her for a moment. Her mother? Really? She'd never even met the goddess. Sure, she'd received a gift from her, and she prayed to her regularly - she found that as long as she asked for reasonable things Nemesis was all too willing to help out - but she had never actually contacted her, not properly. It was strange to think that someone so distant had personally selected her. "Alright," she said, somewhat reluctantly. "What do you need us to do?"
"Hermes seems to think you might find a lead in Baalbek in Lebanon. It's home toone of Venus' oldest temples, and he insists she'd want to keep everything close to home. He suggests you start there."
