hello there! welcome to a quickly thrown together plot thread, featuring plots in varying stages of development and a rambly first post. I'll be listing some things about myself here, as well as what I'm looking for in an rp partner, and the plots will be in the following post just to make this all easier to keep track of.
alright, so, first thing's first. I tend to write between two and four paragraphs, more or less depending on what device I'm using, how much you give me to work with and at what stage of the plot we are as well as how I'm feeling at any particular time. I've been known to write up to ten, though, should the situation call for it. however, posts that long are draining and take so long for me to put together that I prefer to avoid them, or at least writing them on more than a situational basis.
I'm also pretty active. usually I'm on for at least an hour or two every day. however, I have chronic migraines and if my meds don't work, I may disappear for up to a week at the time as I deal with that. there likely won't be any warning in the event that this happens, so I just ask that you're patient with me when it inevitably does.
I write characters of all genders and I don't really prefer one over the other as a rule, but in some cases I might have a character in mind already. fxf relationships come most naturally to me, but mxm or mxf and nbxany are fine too. no romance at all is also absolutely fine, I find it to be a nice break, actually, but I've no preference either way. finally, I'm open to rping here on this thread, in a separate one or through pms. whichever you'd prefer is totally fine.
what about you? things I'm looking for in a partner include:
o literacy. as a relatively literate/semi-advanced writer myself, I prefer a paragraph or two to work with. I find it difficult to reply to anything below a well-rounded paragraph so four or five sentences is as low as you should go. if you write more than I tend to, I'll do my best to match that. o activity. I won't demand a post a day, though I would like commitment. if you're not going to be able to post every few days at least, there seems to be little point to me since this will die so quickly anyway. please let me know if you'll be unable temporarily just so I'm aware. o commitment. like I said before, I'd like for you to be committed to this. I'm looking for a long term roleplay that can actually get things done when it comes to plot. I need everything to lead to something. o friendliness. I love chatting with people and rambling (as if you couldn't tell) so if you'd be open to talking outside of the actual roleplay, I'll be very happy. this isn't a requirement, though, of course not. I can't force you to talk to me. o creativity. I guess this isn't so much creativity as it is a willingness to carry the plot with me. I don't want to play all potential side characters, nor do I want to be completely passive while the plot happens around me. a nice balance is important.
alright. I think that's it. if I haven't scared you off yet /sweats/ please do let me know! I'll list a few plots in the next post, but if none of those tickle your fancy and you'd still like to rp with me, you can say that too. feel free to suggest your own plots, ask to write one from scratch together or ask if I have one of a certain genre and I'll see what I can find in my mess of an idea folder.

Monster Under the Bed { supernatural; modern setting }
Muse A is a demon, and they've spent their long lifetime going from contract to contract, exchanging souls for talent or wisdom. But their current one is a little bit different. When Muse B was born, their mother made an agreement with Muse A. As legal guardian of her child, she was able to enter into binding contracts on their behalf, and this was no different. So, in exchange for Muse B's protection for the rest of their life, she sold her child's soul.
Muse A and Muse B grew up together, Muse B constantly being watched over by Muse A. It isn't until now, many years down the road, that Muse B starts to see that something's up and that maybe Muse A isn't all they say they are. Muse A, meanwhile, is coming to realise something. Taking souls has always been easy before, but it turns out that taking the soul of someone you watched grow up, instead of someone you met exactly once, is going to be a little more difficult than expected.

Bleeding Out { war; medieval setting}
Mercia and Hollender are at war. It's been going on for years now, and despite the two kingdoms in the middle of it rapidly running out of resources, tensions are impossibly high and the fight still going steady. Muse A, a soldier with the Mercian army, is out on the battlefield one day when they receive what should have been a fatal wound to the abdomen. If it hadn't been for Muse B, a soldier on Hollender's side, bringing Muse A back to their camp they would have passed quickly. They never tell anyone of the identification they found on the wounded soldier, not even the soldier themselves.
Nobody at the Hollender camp seems to know who they are, so Muse A try their best to blend in and hide their heritage. They need to make it out of here alive, after all. Muse B helps them as they recover, and as the two get to know each other it becomes increasingly difficult for Muse A to hide. And when Mercier stages an attack directly on the camp, Muse A is faced with the most difficult decision they've every had to make. Do they side with their nation, the people that abandoned them as they were dying, or back up the people that saved their life?

Ambassador { aliens; futuristic setting}
It's only been three years since Earth first established contact with an alien race, so people are still in disbelief. Neither side has threatened war, in fact, everyone involved seems to have no intentions past educating themselves on these new people. But still, decades of sci-fi has taught us one thing, and it's that aliens aren't friendly. Earth isn't under constant threat, this other race hasn't come much further than humanity when it comes to technology so a war would cause mass destruction on both sides, but the discomfort is still there. To make room for possible trade in the future, the UN in collaboration with the aliens global government decide that an exchange program should be implemented to get each other used to the other people we now know live in our galaxy.
One hundred people are chosen from each planet and they're paired off with each other. Fifty humans and fifty aliens leave their home to stay with someone from the other planet. They're to learn the culture, convince the people that they're safe and then return home with stories. Muse A and Muse B are such a pair. Muse A, the alien, is staying with Muse B, a human being. Years of navigating this new reality while tensions are rising await them, and they can only hope a war doesn't break down, for both of their safety.

Other Things Other than the developed plots, I also have a few vague ideas I'd like to build on, some more cliche than others.
Hades and Persephone inspired plot- something that would allow us to watch our characters grow up
powered people on the run/on a quest- fandom inspired plots.
for this one, there's a list I'd be interested in rping at this current time. PJO/HoO/Kain Chronicles maybe even? Voltron, in preparation for season two Harry Potter Shadowhunters (going off the show because I'm not interested in the books anymore) - also, always feel free to suggest things! I'm really open to most plots except for animal-centered ones.

also !! a note of warning; i'm prone to being spotty with replies (as many friends will tell you) but i'm often online & i tend to be extremely talkative (': especially about ideas for plots & characters can i get a hell yeah ]

@borderline - I have so much interest in a Hades and Persphone inspired plot, but very few ideas. I'd be so happy to work something out though, I've wanted to do something with them for a while.
scar - hi! I don't really, I feel like that type of plot is the kind where we start with characters and just see where it takes us tbh. if you'd like something more planned out though, we can definitely work something out!

[ oh man nice, i actually love greek mythos so anything inspired by greek myth is my love? if you want, we can brainstorm together!! i have very few ideas but, y'know <: bouncing things off other people is supposed to make it easier or something omg ]

@borderline - same though! greek mythos is just so interesting. brainstorm we shall! the first question that comes to mind is setting, I feel like a lot could fall into place just knowing if it'll be a modern or ancient greek setting.
scar - alright, great! I see the roleplay starting with the characters quite young, but at what age exactly I've no idea. do you have any ideas there?

[ it really is !! i remember first getting into greek mythos and it's been years now & i still get surprised by things.
hmm !! that's a good start. on one hand, a modern setting could bring up all sorts of conflicts, and it might be easier to work with as, hopefully, we both live in modern times & so we're aware of pretty much everything on the other hand, ancient greece is super fascinating & there's a way to bring more things into it, or relate more to the underworld and such.
that said, modern times could switch the "hades" figure from being god of the underworld to, say, a mafia boss or something similarly dark; keeping the connections without being the exact same ]

I like the idea of powered people on the run...think you'd want to try something along those lines and maybe give it an X-Men spin??

@borderline - I was raised being told stories from norse mythology myself, and when I started researching other myths it was so facinating to see how different it was. greek is probably my favourite by far, though, there's just so much of it. I think you're right about bringing it into modern times and how that would change it. I feel like if we stay in ancient greece they'll stay as deities, whereas if we bring it to the present time the connection would have to be a lot more abstract. I think personally the later might be really interesting, but either could be a lot of fun.
Rivermagic - sure, that works! did you have anything in particular in mind?

[ i was raised on celtic mythos! mainly welsh, with a heckuva lot of irish. honestly, though, greek is my favourite too. it's possible one of the most diverse & rich mythologies out there? i love how deep it all is and how it's all connected omg yeah !! modern times is good with me, since we can change and adjust and have the definite connection to the hades&persephone story without being outright hades&persephone ]

Hmm, well I do have a character that likes to use they/them pronouns, and I've made them into a little ball of angst in the first place... If you could have a male paired up with them, I would be more than happy to whip up a form for them in order to show them off for you... My idea is that my character uses their mutant powers (ice manipulation, I'll be more detailed about it in the form) to do cage fights and make some kind of decent living. Your guy comes along (I have no preference as to what powers they have) and could bring in some kind of chaos to destoy the cage fighting and have them on the run... So yah~

@borderline - ooo, celtic mythology! I haven't done much research into that myself, but what little I have read seems really interesting! exactly! alright, so we're agreed on modern times? if yes, I'd say our next step would be figuring out how Hades and Persephone fit into a modern setting.
Rivermagic - sounds really interesting! I definitely wouldn't mind using a guy, I think most of my powered characters are guys anyway, haha. by chaos, what do we mean? like, to bring the cage fighting thing down or just chaos for chaos' sake. because I have a character that could work really well for the latter and I'd love to use him.

Honestly, I don't mind having the character bring chaos for the fun of it, or they could be a government experiment working for them to bring down the cage fights, and they break out their control? I'm honestly flexible for anything.

scar - if we want them to go through all of school together, we could always start really early, like at five/six when they'd start school. or we could go with when they start middle school. either way, I feel like it might be best to start at some kind of milestone.
@borderline - they're the spirit hounds, correct? (please forgive my complete lack of knowledge on this topic, it's something I need to fix because celtic myth sounds so interesting) Hades as a crime boss makes a lot of sense, yeah. if we wanted to go with the flower aspect, Persephone could be a florist or something, but that honestly seems a little underwhelming. if we wanted to be a little more weird about it, we could work with Demeter and her position instead. I had some strange idea of making Demeter secretary of agriculture or something like that, which would make Persephone the daughter of the secretary of agriculture which in turn could put her closer to whatever operation Hades has going on.
Rivermagic - I might say I'll go with the chaos for the fun then c: I haven't written with him for so long, and it's not usually the kind of character I work with so it should be fun to give it a try.

Sounds perfect, I will proceed to display my lovely bean of a character: Name: Rei Brookes Codename: Snowbird Age: roughly 22 years old, born October 8th, 1994 Gender: Genderfluid, biologically female (likes using they/them pronouns) Sexuality: Pansexual Rei tends to be a lone wolf who can have a bit of fun if they want to. This involves giving peers a hard time, being a careless flirt, and being an adrenaline junkie. At times, they can be a bit of a handful since a brash and impulsive nature swirls on the inside. They only give respect to where it is earned. So, if a person wants to yell at her and say that they're the boss, Rei won't really care unless they show what they're capable of. Most of the time, Rei tends to talk to themselves when there is no one worth their time. Most of the time, they are able to find peace in keeping order among chaos, especially since they are a little OCD. Music, reading and art seem to be the best methods in controlling mood swings if they should arise, or when they're just having a really crummy day. At other times, they also try making sure that they are in decent physical fitness. Most of the time, they are able to keep their cool when it comes to trivial matters. Then again, Rei is a rather proud individual, which also means that there is no way they will be willing to back down from a challenge. Rei may act big and bad, but they stand at 5'3". Not only that, but they're rather slim, and more toned than having actual muscle to compensate for physical strength. If made fun of for being small, it's guaranteed that the offender will have an icicle lodged where it hurts. Their skin is very pale, almost borderline translucent. They have short, boyish, messy, black hair that is styled into a bit of an undercut. On their skin, there are some black tribal tattoos on their biceps and ankles, plus black angel wings on their shoulder blades. Their features are rather angular and relatively androgynous, especially due to an angular jaw, pale and lips, defined cheekbones, and thick eyelashes that frame pale blue eyes. Their actual powers are that of ice manipulation, which mostly uses hand and martial art movements. Yes, Rei will not hesitate to break into song if asked, and no, they will probably not want to build snowmen with you unless you intend on dodging daggers later on. They will feel uncomfortable in hot or warm climates unless properly hydrated, and if there is a swimming pool nearby. As for actual weapons, Rei is pretty good with throwing knives and short swords. Of course, nothing is better than a regular old handgun. Most of the time, they will resort to these weapons if their ice abilities are unable to work. Rei was born in Quebec, Canada, and clearly one wouldn't think to make many stereotype jokes at their expense. Even so, they does know both French and Spanish languages given that their mother was French while their father was Spanish. When angry, they will usually curse in Spanish, and when trying to flirt, they'll speak in French. Rei learned that they had powers at a young age, and it caused their family to be scared of them. Of course, the idea of being genderfluid and pansexual caused a lot more tension and conflict back home. Soon enough, Rei left hone and roamed the streets, getting into cage fights to earn some kind of living, and was definitely beaten around more than once. But it has given them more of a stable life than back home.

scar - sounds good to me! do we want to start with first grade or kindergarden?
Rivermagic - omg they're wonderful ^^ what a cutie! I'll get my character typed up as well, it might be a while since I'm pretty sure I won't be able to find an old form (and if I did I'd hate it) so I'll have to start from scratch.

are we keeping hades/persephone genders or ]

@borderline - I'm going to be pretty on and off, too, don't worry. ahh, that's really cool! I'd be fine with any genders for them, really. I've been thinking about it with them keeping their genders, but that's just been a shortcut and it really doesn't matter to me.
Bluespur - of course! did you have anything in mind already or did you want to build something from the ground up?
Rivermagic - thanks ^^ hopefully it shouldn't be more than an hour or two, but since I'm in Europe it very well might get too late before I manage to get it done.
scar - kindergarten it is! not really, no, I'm fine with either. if we want to leave the door open for romance then we can absolutely do that, but I feel like this would be a lot better if we didn't plan for it either way. do you have a preference when it comes to gender?

Bluespur - I don't have any ideas right now, but I might be able to find some old ones. before I go tracking them down, though, maybe we could agree on whether we want to do an overarching plot or focus on a single quest? that would make it a lot easier for us, I think.
