Michiko smiled a bit.; "Thanks," she said, taking the iPod. "But I feel as if it is only fair that I do something if you do." She scrolled through the play list, looking at all the songs. He had good taste. She saw a Scheburt piece. Really good taste. Eventually, she settled on the song Lost Boy. It was easy to play on the piano and really pretty, and it was strong enough as a solo instrumental for someone to dance to without have to stretch to find the melody. "Is this one okay?" she asked shyly, giving the iPod back to him. She knew it well enough to play it perfectly without sheet music.

So he'd handed over his iPod, feeling more exposed than he preferred. Music was his life, and it was rare anybody got to see any of his playlists. Orion took the time to stand up and stretch while she scrolled through his music, hyper aware that while his dance playlist didn't really put his full personality on display, it was a still a large portion of who he was. While he was aware of this, part of him didn't mind too much. If everything went his way, she'd be gone for good and it wouldn't matter how much of him he knew, and things usually went his way.
Finished stretching, he turned to face her when she spoke up. With the questioning hanging in the air, he took the device back and looked at the indicated song. "Yeah, of course." He was honestly happy she'd picked this one - he knew the choreography in its entirety and had no problems executing it. 'Unless I'm being watched...' His thoughts were a bit toxic now, but he'd power through. He always did.
Shedding his jacket, it gave way to a loose t-shirt with some nonsensical design on the front that managed to be pleasing to the eye. Tossing the jacket away, he figured it was out of the way enough that he wouldn't trip on it. Tossing the iPod on top of it, he started with a few more stretches as if to stall. "Whenever you're ready," Orion murmured. There were 4 counts before the choreography even started, so he had approximately 5-10 seconds to get his crap together before he'd actually have to start.

Michiko hid the shaking in her hands as a silent thrill ran through her. She had played for hundereds of people before, but somehow this made a chill run through her. She didn't even have to look at the keys, but pretended not to watch Orion for his sake. She struck the first few chords gently, as if caressing the piano, and a gentle tune wafted into the room. As the song progressed, she started to pick up more and more as the music took over her body and her eyes glazed over as she focused on Orion and the sounds around her. The music created a moment outside of time that spirited her into another dimension. As the second chorus hit, she started to add little flourishes to the music as her hands started to dance over the keys rather than play. She added runs leading. To the chorus, and her foot tapped the pedal. By the time the last chorus hit, she was unaware that she was more than an insturment exuding memories as she joined in with her voice, enraptured in the dance Orion was performing and the moment they created. The sunshine seemed to filter into the room like a spot light and hit Orion Ina way that made him shine and followed him like lights on a stage. He was memsering, lovely, and graceful. Michiko felt lucky to be able to be apart of the moment. She felt like nothing else in the world outside their performance for an audience of 2 mattered. He was the perfect partner, and she felt the energy between them light up like wildfire. The light and metal clashed and danced over and over to create a sparkling magnifcance she had never witnessed in any musical performance. Whether it was their magic, or her crush that made him sparkle, she woulnd't have known even she had been aware of her magic. (Meant to be read in tandem with your next post. I figured typing the whole scence beforehand and just reading the two seperatly and putting them together would be easier)

The fae took to focusing on a wall he believed mirrors would be placed if this were a dance studio. He was tense, and he knew it, and he needed to shake it off fast if he was going to dance properly. 'You've done this dance a million times. You know this dance, you know this song. It's just one person. You can do this.' He repeated each reassurance in his head like a mantra, though it only helped slightly. Surely with his first few movements, he'd be able to relax and just feel the music course through him like it always did.
Then the music started. He had four counts to focus, and he didn't take them for granted. After those initial seconds, he started. It was clear that Orion was tense through the first couple of chords, though he managed well enough. As he got into it, the turns became easier and a grin took his features as he relaxed into the movements. Right now, the sound of the piano was his everything - the room itself, his surroundings, got a bit fuzzy as his movements became more passionate. He didn't know he was grinning, he didn't know that as the light caught his skin it was mildly reflective. Well he did, but it was more subconscious than anything. As she added her own flair to the song, Orion couldn't help the feeling of bliss that wormed its way into him. As the music continued, he was aware enough to hear her voice flitting alongside the notes, though remained unaware of the way he had the choreography bending to his will and becoming his own. Most of it was muscle memory, but as the last chorus came about there were moments of improvisation as he let the music do what it wanted with his body.
The energy was overwhelming, but he welcomed it. He'd never felt such a connection with anybody before, and he wasn't sure if it was because he was blissed out with music or if there was really something there. By the time the music had ended and he'd finished up his last movement, his breathing was heavy and his chest was heaving. When did he get so tired? Was he even tired? He surely didn't feel like he was, but he knew how hard she was breathing. It was better than anything he'd experienced, and he wanted more.
(That brought me a lot of joy to read omg I saw it in my head and it was so pretty)

Michiko blinked for a second, and breathed what felt like the first of many actual breathes in minutes into her lungs. She took in Orion, and could not help but be mesmerized. A faint blush kissed her cheeks as the sunlight slowly faded, but left a lingering warmth in the room. For the first time in a long time, the writer was speechless. She didn't want to break the silence, and all that escaped her for a few minutes was, "Wow". The energy that prickled along her skin was electrifying, and even now, even after the last note had faded into the abyss of time, she could still feel the remnants of the moment dancing on her skin. The way Orion moved was beyond. anything she had ever seen. Even when he was tense, he was beautiful, and at the end when he had let himself go- that was pure magic, or at least the kind she could currently comprehend anyway. When they both had finally started to breathe a bit like normal human- well, fae beings, she spoke again. "That was brilliant,Orion." A grin splashed onto her face. "You are a fantastic dancer. Thank you for trusting me with you performance!" She couldn't help the feelings that overwhelmed her as she glowed happily.

The dancer had only become aware of the spotlight she'd created after it began to fade. When had that happened? Was this even real? Had he really just trusted a somebody he barely knew with a dance of his? Yes, yes he had. Although, he could admit that it felt great. Better than great. It was almost indescribable, and the grin on his face - a rare sight - refused to fade despite the fact that the last note of the song had disappeared moments ago. The tingling that the moments had brought him remained as he turned to face Michiko. He'd barely heard her 'wow' over the pounding of his own heart. She played beautifully and her voice? Her voice was better than any human he'd heard. Orion would do just about anything to hear it again, he'd do anything to keep that grin on her face - realization he wasn't prepared or willing to recognize just yet.
As she began to speak, the fae couldn't help but be warmed as her praise as his breathing returned to some form of normal. She really liked it? And she was glowing - that was good, right? I seemed so. "Thank you. Your skills on the piano are superb." Orion didn't dare bring up her voice again, afraid it would ruin this moment. "This was fun - we should do it again. If you want to, that is." Well wasn't today just full of miracles? Holding a proper conversation, dancing for strangers and now suggesting that it should happen again? What was she doing to him? 'It's... It's just to get what I want. Yeah, that's it.' he told himself, though somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that he was lying. For now, though, he'd reject the idea of this being anymore than a means to an end.

Michiko beamed at him. "Thank you. Piano is like my second home, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'd like to do this again sometime. The campus summer festival is coming up soon, right? My class is required to do a performance, and I think my professor said the dance students are too. Would you like to be partners? I was going to just play the Four Seasons, but somehow, I feel like this would be better." Michiko started at her own boldness, and looked down again, blushing like mad. She scrambled up, and tore off a piece of paper from her notebook and wrote her number on it. She placed it gingerly on his jacket before walking quickly out the door. "Thank you, and see you again sometime," She rushed out of the building and back to her door grinning wildly. What the hell had she gotten herself into? She flopped onto her bed and finished her psychology report in record time before looking at the clock and realizing she was almost late for her class. She sprinted out the door of her room as she headed to her Tribal Dance and Music Appreciation class. It was their first class since it was only half a semester, and she was less than thrilled at meeting her new class mates.

As the other student began to speak, her put thought to her to her words. She wasn't kidding when she said second home - it seemed like she knew the keys like the back her hand. It'd been a while since he heard such a high-quality performance on the piano, and he was nothing short of amazed by her skill. So when she said she'd also like to do this again, Orion's vine and iron filled eyes lit with anticipation of their next meeting. Though, his thoughts quickly morphed to those of minor stress as she mentioned the summer festival. That sounded familiar but... 'Required performance.' Those two words rang clear in his head and it clicked, having the grin dropping from his face and realization dawning on him. It was one of the assignments he'd done nothing but put off - he didn't have a dance for that! He had no idea what he even wanted to do for that!
Then Michiko was proposing a partnership, specifically with this song. Surely they'd both receive wonderful grades and praises if they did this together. Besides, the feeling this brought was electrifying and he wanted more of it. This was the perfect excuse to get closer and do more with her, especially if it made him feel this good. The male hadn't realized how long he'd been in his thoughts until he made to respond. "Yeah, that's a great-" She was by the door already, likely taking her leave. He stopped his statement as she spoke up again. The most he could muster was a wave in response to her parting.
He took an extra five minutes to calm his nerves and think over everything that had just happened. Deciding that he was completely happy with everything, he collected his things, staring at the paper she'd left him with. Well, now he had a way to contact her, which had a slight smile gracing his features. Pulling on his jacket and placing the paper gently in his pocket for later use, Orion left the practice room, knowing he had to get to his elective immediately. Being late was an option, and he rather liked being early, even if it was only by a couple minutes.'I can look through the census later. I got to relax before class and that's all that matters.' The relaxation she'd managed to bring him was more than he usually got to feel, and he was thankful for that.
Now it was off to Art History and Appreciation - a class he was likely to sleep in rather than let the lecture ruin his new found mood.

Michiko slid into a seat in the back of the room , far away from all the other students. She didn't really know many people since she was in the honor's college, and this was a normal general education requirement. She squirmed in her seat, and kind of faded into the back ground as she shrunk into the wall. No one would notice her unless they looked for her, which the professor, an old balding man with a sweet personality who didn't want to be teaching, did not. He didn't even take attendance. He stood in the front of the room and waited for the time to be right for the class to start. Michiko hummed quietly as she wrote some poetry to the time, and she replayed the magnificent scene in her mind from earlier over and over again. Michiko looked up occasionally to observe her class mates, but returned to writing in between, completely oblivious to anyone watching her.

The dancer went straight to the class, figuring he had everything he needed to at least look like he was being productive. It was just an elective after all - a basic requirement for all students. Surely the class wouldn't be that hard and he'd get a good grade with minimal effort. Well, what he considered to be minimal effort, anyways. His 'minimal effort' got him A's in all of his classes. His minimal effort is what normal students stayed up all night to achieve. But that was beside the point.
Walking into the class, he didn't both to look at the other students. Orion didn't want them seeing his eyes, and he didn't plan on talking to anybody in here, anyways. So, he easily made his way towards the back of the room, sliding into a seat where he wouldn't easily be caught if he fell asleep. He wasn't aware of the fact that he was only a row in front of and a couple seat over from the girl with the mesmerizing music skills. He didn't think she'd be taking such a class considering her major requirements for psycology.

Michiko turned and saw Orion. She was startled to see the dancer next to her, and her eyes widened in suprise from under her her hood that she had flipped up. It was cold the auditorium like classroom. So she wore a Hoodie over her dress. She smiled, and offered a small hello.

Orion hasn't bothered with the good of his jacket, only wearing it because there had been no time to make it back to his dorm. The cold had never really bothered him, and the plan was to take the jacket off and use it as a pillow if he began to overheat, which tended to happen easily. And considering that he'd just been dancing... No, he'd leave it on for now to hopefully adjust to the temperature.
So, as he settled into his desk, he took a glance towards the front of the room to look at the teacher. Oh yeah, he could definitely sleep in this class. Leaning forwards slightly with his arms on the desk, he was about to make himself comfortable when a greeting reached his ears. Turning towards the source, shocked entered and left his eyes within the span of a second and was easily replaced with small flickers of joy. "Hey. Didn't think I'd see you here."

The fae proceeded to lay his head on his arms as she responded, laying settling on the desk so he could still see her. Maybe... Maybe for today, he wouldn't put much thought into getting rid of her. They'd done a wonderful thing today, and he wanted to cherish it and live with it for a bit before his thoughts and plans turned sour. Yes, he'd give himself such a break rather than an added stressor, even if it was just for the day.
At mention of her own surprise, he gave a slight shrug, or what was to resemble one based on his new position. "I was told to pick an elective, and this sounded easy," he responded. It was true - he wasn't going to lie about his desire to take an easy elective. It didn't contribute to his major, so it didn't really matter to him. Although, it was art history and he was a graphic design major.... Eh, even still.

Michiko smiled and laughed a bit. "Yeah. The art history doesn't really make sense for me either, but the thought of taking another composition class makes me want to cringe," what was she doing? Since when did she smile or laugh or make conversation. "I'm still taking notes though. This class is probably going to be a cake walk, but I can't risk getting a b,". She shivered again, from the cold and though of losing her scholarship. She couldn't afford to lose that, even with her part time job as a barista at the coffee shop. She had to work the midnight shift, but the extra pay was worth it? And her insomnia didn't mind. Besides, making drinks and clearing tables didn't require much eye contact and her sleep coustomers didn't care by that time.

Eyes lighting up a bit at her smile, Orion shifted slightly to make himself a bit more comfortable in the way he had his upper body laid on the desk. "I can only imagine. I think my roommate is taking a composition class - he hates it." It was true, the poor boy stayed up all night trying to finish all his work for that singular class, often ignoring the rest of his work. It seemed like hell, and he was happy he didn't have to take one considering he was a dancer.
At the mention of grades, his eyebrows knit together for only a second before his face relaxed once more. "Got a scholarship or somethin'?" he questioned. B's were passing - he'd never gotten one simply because anxieties and past grades wouldn't allow him to do so, but they were passing. So what'd it matter if she got a B? Especially in this class.

"Yeah, it's a b." Michiko rolled her eyes. She looked down, looking sad. "Yeah, my Gram is dead, and we are too poor to afford UChicago. I'm here on an all A scholarship," she looked down, embarassed. "I'm extremely lucky they offered me this, or I'd never be out of debt. I havw to play piano at all the recitals, but it's fun to play, so it's actually a super awesome opportunity," . It also left her time for a job, which was nice.

Orion couldn't help the amusement that fluttered through his eyes briefly. Though, when she began to speak about her grandmother, he blinked, emotion draining from his optics. What Michiko was telling him sounded rather personal, not something you'd typically share with somebody you'd just met. And not that she knew, but it definitely wasn't something you shared with somebody who had ill intentions. But here she was, given what little of her life story she truly knew.
Even still, he couldn't help but be impressed by her achievements and proud of her for making it so far. All A's in college was like a miracle, and she was a double major. That was really something. 'Didn't know I could be proud some somebody I just met...' he thought. Ah, but he still had yet to answer her. "That's... A lot to deal with. You're pretty strong," the fae responded, pausing only for a moment. "Getting to play piano sounds like a nice perk."

Michiko looked startled. "Thank you, but not really. I'm just doing what I have tk to survive. And yeah, the piano is the best part of all of it." She smiled. 'Why do I trust this guy so much?' She wondered to herself before snapping to attention and taking notes looking like a studying soldier. The professor was starting, and she wanted to learn the info now so she didn't have to waste time relearning it later. She didn't have time, she had the night shift tonight.

He noticed how she seemed startled by what he said, though at this point she wasn't surprised. She seemed to react that way with any sort of praise or compliments, so he didn't question it. He made to respond, but the sounds of the lecture starting shut him up. Michiko was already taking notes, and the male assumed he should do the same. Did he? No.
Instead, he pulled out earbuds, plugged them into his iPod and set it to shuffle. He only put in one earbud, though, so he could at least hear if his name was being called for whatever reason. Making himself comfortable, Orion let his eyes close while his chin rested on his arms so it looked like he was facing forwards. Based on the professor's voice, he felt as though it wouldn't take too long to fall into a sleep like this.

When the class was over, Michiko poked Orion gently on the shoulder. She felt akaward touching him without his permission, but the professor was already glaring at him. She felt the sudden cold chill again, and she froze once she roused him. Fear filled her eyes, and she ran out of the class, terrified. Whatever he was, there was something dark in his soul. She sprinted to the coffee shop and started her shift. It was 1030, and she had a long 4 hour shift to go, plenty of time to forgot the cold burning of his touch.

Orion... Well, he'd managed to fall into a deeper sleep than he had planned. Though even just the poke to his shoulder was enough to wake him up considering it was rare that people touched him. A yawn escaped him as he stretched and sat up. Rubbing one of his eyes, he pulled out his earbud with his free hand and turned to face the fae besides him. Though, by the time he let his hand drop from his face, she was out the door already. Eyebrows knitting together in momentary confusion, he stood, clearing his mind of the haze sleep left before he left the room as well. There was work to be done and he guessed he no longer had reason to put it off. The day was practically over.
So, he made his way to his dorm, opening the door and stepping inside, pausing only for a moment as he looked around for his roommate. With no indication of the other being around, he went straight for the safe he kept in the back of his closet, opening it easily with his abilities. He pulled out a couple files, bringing them to his desk in order to look through them more properly. "At least the Royals were good for somethin'..." he mumbled before he started his search.
Twenty minutes in, and he'd found what he wanted. Michiko Tanaka: Ability - Light. Well, that made complete sense based on what he'd experienced today. Though, what he couldn't figure out was why she wasn't in the latest census - the one he finally found her in was from years ago, from a time when even he lacked control over his abilities. Then how did she get here? When did she get here? Frowning a bit, he stood and stretched, stiff from sitting in one position for so long.
With this new information, he pulled out his phone as well as the paper she'd gifted him with. All that was left to do was figure a good time to get rid of her. Orion added her number to his phone before texting her, asking if she wanted to set up practice times for the summer festival.

Michiko was mean while at work. She was busy serving coustomers and making drinkes. The mental drain was starting to wear on her, and her eyes were dropping. By the time it was midnight, she needed a break. She stepped out of the steamy house, and took in the cool night breeze. When she checked her phone she had a messege. That was odd, she never had any messeges anymore. And it was from Orion. She read the messages about the festival, and promptly shut her phone. She needed sleep and time to think. Thankfully she got off in an hour.
