Once he was asleep, Kaden was someone who could sleep late and was not a morning person. When Niko headed to the bathroom he was still asleep, his mouth opened ever so slightly and he was turned on his side with his bag only a few west away. He always slept with his gun nearby, but he hadn't wanted it too close incase he woke up and forgot where he was.
Upon Niko opening the bathroom door after his shower combined with light coming into the room Kaden blinked awake, he looked confused for a moment then remembered the events of the day before. He glanced at Niko walking by, his eyes lingered for a fraction of a second before he looked away and sat up. He hated being tired, but he had to get up since Niko was obviously ready to start the day and he was supposed to meet his gang today. Officially at least, he was sure he had met some of the, on the streets before, but not on friendly terms.
He got up from the couch and stretched a moment before he went to join Niko in the kitchen and grab himself some milk and cereal. "You sure as he'll like to be up early." He grumbled, hair still ruffled from sleep and eyes tired.

The bread seemed to be fine, which was great for Niko. He put it into the toaster and turned on the coffee machine while he waited, reaching into the cupboards to dig out his nutella - he had a huge sweet tooth. He blinked and turned his head when Kaden joined him, wrinkling his nose a little and shrugged in what was decidedly not an apologetic gesture. Just a shrug.
"I don't like it, but it's necessary," he told him firmly, grabbing his toast as it popped up and putting it onto a plate. He was quick to spread the hazelnut spread over it before he focused on the coffee, taking a moment to put the grounds in and then leaving it to brew. He bit into a piece of toast as he waited, reflecting on how it had been absolutely pointless in brushing his teeth. Oh well. Typical. He swallowed and licked his lips before speaking. "How did you sleep?"
It seemed like a polite enough question to ask, he supposed. Once the coffee was done, he grabbed a mug and poured himself some, ensuring that there was some left if Kaden wanted some, and then added his vanilla creamer. Now with a complete breakfast, he simply leaned against the counter and ate.

Kaden poured himself some coffee as well, but didn't add creamer just a packet of sugar. He made a face at the Nutella, he had never tried the stuff but it looked like putting chocolate on toast which was not okay in his book. But to each their own. He poured the milk in his bowl of cereal and took a spoonful then shrugged at his comment. If he said so, Kaden liked sleep, but he wasn't in charge here he supposed.
At Niko's question he shrugged again, "I slept alright." He replied. His couch had been comfortable, but he always had trouble actually falling asleep and when he did there were almost always nightmares. He took a few more spoonfuls of cereal and glanced at Niko, "what's the plan for today?" He always liked to know what was going on even if he wasn't making the plans.
Kaden was aware they were likely meeting the rest of the gang today, which he was somewhat concerned about, but it was what it was. Either they would hate him or they would work towards accepting him. He would make it work, he could handle dirty looks, plus their leader being okay with his presence should say something or at least keep them from going after him.

( sorry !! i just had food omg )
A soft hum escaped Niko as he considered what was on the agenda for today. Hm. He finished his toast and put the dish in the sink before leaning back and drinking his coffee, gaze focused on the window. It showed the city - nothing special, but he enjoyed looking out of it.
"You're meeting the gang, then I think Maria - she's one of my higher-ups - will test you. She does it to everyone, so don't be surprised. I just don't know what she'll do. She'll either test your loyalty or your determination, or your physical strength. Either way, don't worry about it. Uh. Well. She might not? Depends on how much she cares. From then on, it's anyone's game. You should give your measurements to Carlos; he'll get you clothes and whatever else you need," he paused and squinted thoughtfully, "then it's a matter of showing you around, so I'll do that. Someone else might see if you're a good sheath for a knife."

After a couple of years of the same thing, Jaime had settled into a routine. Get up, shower, brush his teeth, go to work. The coffee shop was always the most eventful part of his day - the rest of his day was taken up by either college or his other part-time job, neither of which were particularly interesting. Maybe college could be, on a good day - but that was a 50/50 chance and he didn't want to take that.
This morning, it was the same. He shrugged on his bomber jacket and pulled on his white canvas shoes, and jogged out of the door. He barely paused to lock it, and then he jogged down the stairs. The one bit of exercise he actually didn't mind, all things considered. Jaime smiled in passing to the little old lady who lived two doors down (she talked to him in Spanish and he did the same; she was very much like his abuela, and he would always love to keep a bit of home with him), and then he left the building and walked to his motorbike. He loved the thing dearly - despite it being a hand-me-down from his older brother, it was something he enjoyed riding.
A quick ten minute ride later, and he was parked and in work. Bomber jacket off, white button-up shirt neat, apron on and nametag on, and Jaime slid behind the counter.
"Oh, Jaime," huffed one of his co-workers, her smile bright, "thank the heavens that you're here. My shift is over because Robert didn't come in to take his shift, and Mike would've been on his own if I hadn't stayed."
"Damn," he raised an eyebrow, "alright. I am here and you can go now. Shoo, child."
She laughed and left, and he began to work. The coffee shop, it seemed, was slow - and by mid-morning, it was at a complete halt. A sigh passed his lips and Jaime leaned lightly against the counter as he checked his phone, responding to a few texts (especially one worried one) and overall just...socialising on his phone. Mike muttered something about grabbing some more coffee beans and he waved his hand lightly, glancing up to check if there were any customers. Nope. None, yet. He sighed and slid his phone into his back pocket, and waited. He must've missed the morning rush, but...well, that was just how it went. Another couple of hours and he would have a small space of free time at home to do his homework. Then he'd have a class, then he'd be down the garage. Huh. His day was pretty empty, all things considered.

(I'm here for a bit! ^^)
Kaden continued to eat his cereal as Niko spoke, when he finished he got up and rinsed out the bowl then placed it in them dish washer. He closed it and went back to the table, sipping his coffee and leaning against the table. He watched him from behind the cup, eyes narrowed slightly as he ran through the day. "Sounds..interesting." He replied and lowered the mug. "Will I know when Maria's testing me or is it going to be a fun surprise?" He asked somewhat flatly.
He felt that he could handle her tests, he didn't like being told what to do, but he was doing a good job dealing with it so far. He was also good in a fight so whatever the rest of the gang threw at him he would handle it. "I'm not a pin cushion." He snorted and crossed his arms over his chest. He wasn't surprised though, his own gang was already hard on newcomers, they wanted to make sure they could handle themselves and contribute, he was sure they would be even harder on an ex rival gang leader.

( hallo ! )
Niko gave what could've been a shrug or something else - it was hard to tell. He drained the rest of his coffee and set his mug down, stretching his arms in front of him. He considered it thoughtfully, narrowing his eyes and tilting his head back. He wouldn't usually expose his throat to a stranger/rival, but...well, he had a few things dangling above Kaden's head right now, didn't he?
"A surprise, I think," he decided, "she tells younger people, but you're a threat to her, for now. She won't tell you when she's testing you, so just a heads up. She doesn't always personally do it, either."
At the pin cushion comment, he snorted softly. It wasn't quite a laugh, but almost - a faint quirk of his lips and a raise of eyebrows. He pushed away from the counter and grabbed his keys and a jacket, shrugging it on and shaking his head.
"You'll have to prove that you're not a pin cushion," he said, "they won't just take your word for it."

Kaden scowled for a lot of reasons. He hated being teased first and foremost. Secondly, Niko stretching casually and walking around his house half naked was frustrating for a lot of reasons mainly the fact that it was rubbing it in his face that even though he was allowed to join he was still most certainly in a position of little power which annoyed him to no end. He also scowled because he was now having to work his way into people's good graces and avoid getting attacked while doing it. He couldn't blame them, he would do the same, but it didn't make the situation any less annoying to him.
"I hate surprises." He grumbled and tossed back the rest of his coffee, wishing it was a shot instead. He rinsed and cleared his dish then grabbed his jacket from his back. He hesitated upon seeing his gun, he supposed he didn't have much of a need to bring it so he settled for his knife instead, the thought of not having a weapon made him uncomfortable even if he was skilled at hand to hand combat.
"I'll prove if." He rolled his eyes, aware that he probably looked like an angsty teen, but too irritated to care. He had to prove more in order to be a leader, plus he had potential to be charismatic not that he ever chose to be. He was here now and to stay, at least until he could help his family, the rest of the gang would have to accept that.

"Aw," Niko didn't smile, but his tone suggested he almost wanted to, "baby's first tantrum. Adorable."
He made sure he had everything. Balisong - check. Wallet - check. He squinted and double-checked his keyring, before leaving the apartment and heading down the stairs. Since the door locked itself when it was shut, that was no problem. He paused only briefly to glance at the note on his neighbour's door - something about leaving parcels with him. The joke was on them, since he wasn't home today. Poor mailman.
"Yep, you'll prove it," he hummed lightly, and continued to the main door. It opened without a code from the inside which was helpful, and he simply walked along. If Kaden chose to keep up, then that was his choice. If not, then...well, he doubted that the man would get lost.

Kaden gritted his teeth, his jaw clenched in visible anger, but he just huffed in reply and on second though grabbed his gun and tucked it into his back wasteband. He felt too naked without it. He jogged down the stairs after Niko, the irritation was not hidden, but he couldn't exactly argue with the guy who had more power than him and somewhat had his life in his hands at the moment.
Kaden kept up, but wasn't directly behind him like some dog. He had his hands in his pockets and he was thinking about his future plans and any explanation he could give about himself without giving too much of his business away. He wouldn't consider Niko someone he trusted so he doubted he would consider anyone else in the group to be someone he felt like telling much about himself too. He would answer questions as short as possible.
He resisted saying something, but his tongue was sharp and he was honestly surprised he didn't say something rude sooner. "Are you ever not full of if." He muttered, wasn't as rude as he could have been though.

The walk was quiet and cold - the sun had still not risen, and with wet hair, he was realising his mistake rather quickly. He wrinkled his nose and shrunk closer into his jacket, taking a moment to realise that the soft crunching he was hearing was not, in fact, something sinister, but light snow underfoot. Huh. That was interesting. The clouds above suggested there would be more snow soon, too.
"Hm?" he glanced back with raised eyebrows, "full of...oh," he snorted and shook his head lightly, focusing his gaze ahead. "I wasn't always like this. I'm not always like this, really. Leave my self-confidence alone," if he was truly annoyed, Niko wasn't showing it. "Otherwise I'll break yours."
He entered the junkyard as usual and moved to the chainlink fence, ducking underneath it and waiting patiently for Kaden.

(That's good that she had a fulfilling life at least, it makes sense I just picked my dog up from the groomer lol Poor other puppers ;_; )
Kaden glanced up at the sky as well, he actually liked the snow a lot and he preferred the cold to heat. He realized he could see his breathe in puffs in front of him and tucked his hands into his pockets since it was fairly cold. He could tell Niko was colder since his hair was still wet from his shower. He wondered if it would freeze, he had seen that happen before to a friend's hair when they were in cold tempuratures with wet hair. He thought that would be amusing.
"Psh, alright." Kaden pulled his hands from his pockets and put them in a more sarcastic and teasing way then replaced them since it was awfully cold out. He ducked under the chain link fence as well and followed Niko, he was grateful for his boots being rather warm even if the snow wasn't too thick. He glanced ahead at the warehouse from the night before as he followed after Niko.
"So this is your usual base?" He asked, more curious than in need of an answer. He knew it was at least one, but he hadn't been sure if it was the main one or not.

( ya !! she did. nice man two of them r Big Dogs and the other is a tiny )
One hand brushed quickly through his hair to brush off any forming ice and he took a deep breath as he heaved the door to the warehouse open, fingers trembling slightly. Whether that was a normal thing or if it was from the cold was a mystery, but he simply ducked inside and gave a low hum.
"It wasn't before, but it is now," as if that made sense. There was hidden history there, one that his own gang had managed to keep hidden from anyone else. "It's not much, but it's home to some people. Usually, though, the Winter causes those with homes to take those without. Summer is when this place is really bustling."
He tapped his foot against the ground before calling out in rapid Spanish, one hand on his hip and the other still running through his hair. As if the Spanish had been a cue, a frizzy-haired woman poked her head from one of the doorways and raised both eyebrows.
"Kaden, this is Maria. Maria, this is Kaden. He's new here, be nice," he wrinkled his nose.
"Other Gang Leader Kaden," she said, her accent thick, "as in, the one you kept forgetting the name of? Or pretending to forget the name of? One of those," she walked over and stared critically, "nah. He got run out of town from what I've heard. That can't be him, boss."

(One time I was outside and my hair froze because I'm dumb and didn't dry it lol)
"Hm." Kaden hummed thoughtfully about the warehouse. He had an old apartment complex he had used and a few other places, but all of them were raided. It made him a little nostalgic and he didn't like having to miss the people that were left behind. It made him feel weak. But they had been family. He wasn't too surprised to see Niko speaking Spanish, and so well, most leaders picked up other languages and for all he knew it could have been Niko's first language, there was plenty he didn't know about the man obviously.
Kaden gave a slight wave to Maria in greeting and rolled his eyes. "Got ambushed and I'm right here." He replied although he knew she was teasing him and not even technically talking to him. But he had an attitude problem and a lot of pride so he was going to comment anyway.
(Sorry lame reply)

( ive done that once too <: its awful && its ok !! its not lame if i can respond to it aha )
"He has a sharp tongue," said Niko, as if that would excuse Kaden's actions. "And has been sleeping rough."
Maria gave a roll of her eyes and crossed her arms. She was a short woman - slightly overweight, soft-looking and baby-faced, but she was strong. She often beat large men at arm-wrestling, which scared Niko to no end, and her frizzy black hair and her keen brown eyes were nothing short of impressive. She was, in his humble opinion, one of the best people he knew.
"Well, then," she frowned, studying Kaden carefully, "ambushed is one way to put it, I suppose. By the police, no? Sort of idiotic, if you ask me."
Niko did not intervene. It was best to let Maria get whatever words she had for Kaden - it was entirely possible that this was a test, and if he intervened, it would probably be a bad idea. Instead, he focused on looking in another direction. Subtle.

(Ugh it's literally the worst Haha okay sweet!)
He made a face when Niko spoke for him, claiming he had a sharp tongue and bad sleep. Both were true, but he didn't need Niko to stand up for him he could do it just fine on his own. Plus all he had done was tease him since they had official met and he didn't see why he would want to help him.
Kaden crossed his arms over his chest as well. He was quite tall, but although he had muscles he wasn't particularly built and his height made him somewhat lanky. He wasn't scared of the woman, but he had a feeling that if he knew her better than he likely would be more intimidated. Either way he didn't think she was someone to be messed with.
"Good thing I didn't ask you." He replied flatly, not so much in a disrespectful way, but rather his business was his own and since she had nothing to do with what had happened and no real understanding she didn't have much of a place to comment on the situation.

"Oh," Maria gave a wicked grin, raising a single eyebrow this time. "Okay, I see why you like him," she shook her head slightly and held her hand out. "Welcome to the squad, kid. I guess there's no need to formally test you, since you were already part of a gang. Kinda useful, really."
Still staring pointedly away, Niko gave what could've been an amused sound, but it also could've been distressed. He tilted his head to look at the both of them curiously.
"That's it?" he asked, sounding somewhat irritated, perhaps. "He gets off without a single injury? Mildly disappointing."
Maria gave him a sharp look, but didn't respond.

(Just saw passengers! It was alright, cliche story but I like Chris Pratt so it could have been worse)
Kaden hesitated a moment at Maria's quick approval, but he wasn't going to complain. He stuck his own hand out in response and shook hers firmly. He knew a lot of people ran their gangs differently, some harsher others more of a family, he wondered what made her think his was in line with their ideals. He felt like Maria seemed to be someone with good intuition anyway, and maybe she had picked up that his own gang had been family, he knew the bond of being on a crew together.
"If your so disappointed you can come try and injure me yourself, not get her to do your dirty work." Kaden snorted in response, it wasn't a legit invitation, more of a tease. But he couldn't say he was disappointed Maria had apparently chosen not to test him further.
"What about the rest of your friends? Will they be as accepting?" He arched a brow curiously, but as usual he didn't care much about the others opinions anyway he just felt he should ask.

( is that the movie where a guy wanting to Get Some literally ruined the life of the gal (jennifer lawrence is in it too right ? thats probs why i wont watch it oops) )
"Please," Niko rolled his eyes upwards, "I have underlings for a reason."
"That's why he calls them his kids," Maria nodded solemnly, "won't make them beat up a big bad guy like you, won't do it himself. You'll be safe here," she gave a gentle smile, this time.
At Kaden's question, however, Niko's eyebrows furrowed and he exchanged a glance with Maria. The two seemed to hold a silent conversation; they'd always had a sibling-like bond, and this was one of the moments where it was stronger. After a moment, Niko sighed and flicked his gaze to Kaden.
"I'm not sure," he admitted, "we've never taken in an ex-gang leader before, you know? Some will like you, some won't. I doubt anyone will be outwardly violent, but you should tread lightly for a week or so, just in case."
