In response, the woman behind the desk only gave a small grunt before going back to whatever it was she was doing in the first place. Despite Phallon being polite, this lady seemed in a constantly irritated mood. Oh well, that was her own problem.
"Bummer," Shane uttered the single word then started pulling his subject/companion out of the police station. Once out and walking away, he relaxed very much, so much so that he was almost normal again only a minute later. "Guess we go back to my apartment now. I don't have a clue where else to look for any leads on you." He was definitely so happy to be leaving that law enforcement station behind.

"Well she was delightful," Phallon muttered sarcastically even before they had fully left the police station. She didn't really care if the woman had heard her or not. It was unlikely they would see each other again. Yet any bitterness she held towards the woman more or less dissolved once she felt Shane relax beside her once more. It was like a night and day difference.
"I doubt there'll be anyone around here who might know who I am or where I'm from," the young woman said with a small sigh. "If I think of anything else to do, then we can try it later. Right now, we need to help you move. So lead on." Yeah, Phallon was disappointed that their search had led them to dead ends, but what was she supposed to do about it? She couldn't just will up the information to be there just because she wanted it. If that was how the world worked, then she would have the money to buy a house in a nicer town. Right now, it was probably best if she just distracted herself from the failed search attempts and focus on helping Shane get his stuff.

Shane was happy to lead her away from the police station and to his temporary apartment instead. As they walked, he made small talk and casual conversation about all sorts of random thoughts and subjects. When they finally arrived tot he towering building, he nodded towards it. "This is it," he told her then pulled her inside. "Glorious, right?" the man inquired jokingly. the building was about as glorious as any other rundown tower in the city.
He led her to the stairs, not trusting the elevator. He never had in his short stay here, honestly. "It's only on the second floor, thankfully, so we don't have to go up many flights." After the information, she was led further down the hall, once out of the stairwell, and to a door with the number '32' on it. Shane let go of her hand and felt around his pockets then frowned slightly with a sigh. "Shoot. Locked my keys in there again. Hold on a sec while I pick the lock." After having casually said this, he dropped down to one knee and produced the paperclip and bobby pin he'd used to get into Phallon's motel room, then began fiddling in the lock with them.

Shane let out a small chuckle at her comment while he worked. "Yeah, probably would," he agreed. Then, there was the familiar 'click' of the door unlocking. "It's nice that these doors lock automatically when shut, but it's so hard for people like me," he said with a sigh then stood again, shoving his tools back in the pocket of his trench coat. The man opened the door and stepped in.
The apartment itself was shabby and bare with bland colored walls. A small kitchenette was by the door, and a dingy, little couch sat immediately inside, facing an exceptionally small TV and coffee table. To the right was the bathroom, equally as small as the rest of the place, and to the left was a bedroom which house only a twin sized bed, dresser, and nightstand. Men's clothes were scattered about the bedroom floor, but the rest of the place seemed like it hadn't even been lived in really, other than a few dirty dishes in the sink and the petite garbage can by the counter being half full.

it's okay ^.^)
"Totally," Shane responded and rolled his eyes. "It's real palace." At her question, he glanced around then walked to the bedroom. "I guess you can pack up the dishes and food in this bag. There isn't too much," he answered, poking his head around the bedroom corner and tossing her a large black bag. "I'll take care of my clothes. Can't have someone else touching them," he joked then closed the bedroom door, presumably for privacy so she didn't view his boxers or something. But, in reality, he was hiding away some weapons and then texting his bosses an update.

Shane tucked his phone away after giving a report update then started actually packing his clothes. One would think he had more possessions than this for real, having such a well paying job as he did. However, the few items in this apartment room right now were most of what he actually owned. He thought it a bit odd as he packed up, knowing that others with his kind of money would go out and buy all sorts of useless and fancy things. Oh well. Neatly folding his clothes, he tucked them away in a bag identical to the one Phallon had received. Once he was done, he walked out to join her in the main area briefly. "Just stick the dirty dishes in with the clean with ones, by the way. I will wash them all later," he told her then went into the bathroom to retrieve his toothbrush and such. He was happy to go and stand by the door the moment he finished. He would not miss this place; it had been one of the worst apartments he'd ever been assigned to stay in. "Ready when you are." His eagerness to leave was evident in his voice and by the smile on his face.

"That's true," Shane agreed casually then walked out with her, once again forgetting the keys on the counter. But, that wasn't his problem anymore. On their way out of the lobby, they passed a short man who looked to be in his 40s with brown hair. "Later, jerk," Shane said to him then stuck his tongue out before exiting. He sighed happily at the outside, feeling like he was now free of that horrible, tiny apartment. "Onward, to your motel room!"

"Hey, at least I don't have to deal with that jerk back there, and you never have to," Shane pointed out then took her hand like usual. The bag was slung over his shoulder and in the other hand. "Besides, it'll be fun living in the same space, I think. It gets too boring being alone. It'll be nice to essentially have a roommate." He was being quite chipper and cheerful again, and it was genuine. The guardian was so happy to be able to stay in her motel room with her instead of sleeping outside somewhere to keep an eye on her. "I promise to be a good roommate."

"Don't worry. I'll gladly hold my end of the deal," the tall man responded with his dopey little smile. Even though he was mostly excited to not have to sleep on a roof, which had been done before, the fact that he'd be rooming with a pretty cool girl like Phallon was aiding in his glee as well. He shook his head at her comment. "Nah, we don't need to do that. Honestly, a bed isn't going to be much better than a couch for me since they don't tend to be as long either. My feet will hang over either way." It didn't bother him as much as it used to, because a couch was so much better than a roof. Plus, the guardian felt no need to get a bed anyway and put Phallon through the trouble of finding and moving into another room.

"I appreciate the thought and suggestion, but I couldn't. I'm sure the bed is more comfortable, so you should keep it. It's your room anyway, even if I'm going to be sharing it now. You still had it first, and I have to be a gentleman," Shane replied to her. He merely didn't want to have to make Phallon take the couch. He could handle it just fine himself. In his mind, a woman should never have to sleep on a couch.

"Guess you gotta get duct tape ready then," was his response, along with his own little smirk. But, it was true that he did not want to take the bed from her, even if she insisted. Shane was happy to see the motel dead ahead and, once at the door to Phallon's rented room, he stood with the bags and waited for her to unlock it. "At least we have some time before you gotta wrestle me to tape me on the bed."

Giving a slight chuckle at Phallon's statement, Shane walked into the motel room once it was opened and she was inside first. He closed the door behind them with his foot, then set the bags of things on the counter where he began unloading them. "Well, then this is bound to be a struggle I'd love to be a part of. It's definitely gonna be hilarious." Looking over his shoulder, he gave her a genuine smile. While her well of humor seemed a bit dry, he did find the girl rather funny when she decided to try, or with things she said like this - duct taping him to a bed just so he'd sleep on it instead of the couch. That was funny.

"I think it's best if you use the dresser," he told her, deciding right there that was his choice - taking the closet. "I think dressers have a bit more organization to them, and I'm not very organized with my clothes; I'me sure you've seen a bit of that at my apartment. So, the closet is fine with me." Shane gave a shrug while he emptied the bags of their contents. "Do you think we should put this first aid kit in the bathroom, or maybe somewhere in this more open living room/kitchen area so it's a bit more on the ready?" he inquired, holding the white case up in one hand.

"Trust me, it's nothing," Shane told her but complied in taking off his long, tan coat. "It's only a scratch. My poor coat is going to need more mending than me." The man held the coat up and gazed at the slash mark whose edges were now stained a red-brown. He hung it up then and glanced down at his arm. The wound had scabbed over enough now to not bleed anymore, but it was still relatively nasty looking, like most knife cuts were. Thankfully, it wasn't very deep and would be an easy fix.

"I wasn't going to go to a doctor either," Shane told her but eyt didn't move as she got to work on cleaning and then bandaging the wound. He would have just let it sit there to heal on its own, honestly. The only way the man would relaly worry about it is if the area got infected. When she was done binding his arm in bandages, he flexed a bit. "That's pretty tight there. Better hope I don't need to lift anything heavy or fight for a bit, or this may be uncomfortable." Still, he was glad she helped him, and he gave her a thankful grin.

"Good idea," he commented and started putting away the cooking supplies like pots and pans and silver wear. "When do you think would be the best time to apply? I'm gonna say tomorrow, because the sooner the better, right?" The sooner she got a job, the sooner he'd have to leave, though. That would kind of suck since he liked Phallon much more than his other subjects he'd had to work with in the past. Sure, there was always the possibility of getting someone even better, but he doubted it would happen.
Hey, if you don't mind, we can skip to when they're going to bed so she can start to get a few random memories back sooner. And we can get this moving a bit quicker)

(Sure! Anytime you want to time skip, go for it. I was actually thinking of doing the same thing. I'll just reply once more to set up the time skip.)
Phallon nodded to his comment. "I say we head over first thing in the morning just to get it out of the way. Then if there's anywhere else we want to try and apply at, we have time to to it," she said. She checked the bag she had been unpacking, and found that there was nothing left to put away. "Well, now that that's done, I guess we can chill for the rest of the day," she said. "If you need me, I'll be on the couch trying to see if there's anything on the news that I might be able to remember."
