I'll always ask first anyway, though, just so you know ^.^)
Warm was the spring sun's rays as they filtered in through the cracks of the motel blinds, cascading themselves onto Shane's face. With a groan of slight protest, the man cracked open his eyes for a split moment then rolled over so his back took the light for him, instead of his eyes. Slowly, he sat up and let out a yawn then ran a hand through his messy hair. The first thing he did after was produce his phone from the bag of personal items he'd placed by the couch upon which he slept. The time read 9:43 AM, and there were no new messages from work. Not wanting to invade Phallon's space and barge into her room to see if she was up yet, Shane went to start making breakfast - eggs and toast - while slipping his phone back into his pocket.

(I'll do the same. ^^ )
Phallon had been, as you could guess, unsuccessful in giving the bedroom to Shane last night. The tall man had been impossible to sway or break. So she had given up with a "Don't complain to me in the morning with a crick in your neck," before heading off to bed. It was silly, she knew, but she hated that she hadn't gotten her way. Next time, she would just have to try harder.
Even though she had gotten the semi more comfortable place to sleep, she hadn't had a peaceful night. Her dreams had been filled with the previous day's events. She saw the two men who had attacked them, saw Shane easily dispose of them, and heard both the women from the mall and police station confirm once more there were no records of her anywhere. These events swirled together, mixing into a jumbled mess. At one point, she had been walking down a crowded street without Shane and unfamiliar. The shops and houses were all in better conditions, looking neat and tidy as if their occupants cared for the upkeep of their residence. Even the chattering of thousands of conversations sounded different. Then the dream would shift, sending her talking with Shane one moment, and a unfamiliar woman the next. It was during the conversation with the woman when she woke to the smell of breakfast.
She stayed there for a few minutes, staring up at the ceiling as she tried to recover some details of her dreams. It was all a fuzzy mess, but she was sure of the differences between what she had seen and heard yesterday, and what was like random details her brain decided to throw into the mix just to make things even weirder. Yet the more she thought about the tidy street ad unknown woman, the more she felt as if there was more to those images than just a random generation of imagination. What that might mean, of course, she didn't know. Deciding she had lingered on her dreams for long enough, she sighed and got out of bed, leaving the room to once again find Shane in the kitchen. "I could get use to someone making breakfast for me ever morning," she said as she made her way over to him.

Shane glanced over his shoulder at the sound of her door knob turning and then her voice. He gave her a cheery smile as greeting. "Well, I could get used to making it for somebody other than myself," he responded, the spatula he held stirring and slicing scrambled eggs in the non-stick skillet. "How'd you sleep last night?" he inquired as he moved the skillet from the heated stove burner to an unused, cooler one, next getting out plates. The man then added teasingly, "And just so you know, I don't have a crick in my neck."

Oh, but Shane wanted those details. It was more out of personal curiosity than anything else really. In fact, it's not like he thought in his head that she was beginning to remember portions of her past. That had never happened before, and, in his and the Organization's minds, could never happen. So, the guardian glanced over his shoulder once again, now pausing in buttering the toast which had just popped out of the toaster. "Oh yeah? What'd you dream about?"

Well, since he asked, might as well tell him. "Well, for starters, I had a recap of all the 'fun' we had yesterday," Phallon replied, using air quotes around the word fun. "There was our little friends from the alley, then there was all the useful information we received from the mall and police station, and then there was a lot of walking. Although, I think my mind wanted something better to look at because it changed all the run down building to actually look decent."

"Oh yeah?" Shane asked in typical response. "I think all of our minds would like something better to look at," he then added with a small chuckle. Based on her information and the way Phallon had projected it, the guardian felt no need to be suspicious of her dreams. So, what followed was simple, roommate conversation. "I didn't have any dreams myself." Though, in all honesty, he ahdn't slept that much due to some idiot tapping on the window every now and again. But in a city like this, that was to be expected, really. "Anyway, do you want me to butter your toast, or would you prefer to do it yourself?"
This is a little gtg, or brb. not sure what it'll turn out to be...sorry)

"Eh, not really. some creepo was tapping on the windows last night. So, I didn't really get much sleep, but I didn't bother going outside to make them stop either," Shane reported and gave a simple shrug along with the statements. "Knowing the state of the city, it could have very easily been a trap to get mugged or something." When she decided to butter her own toast, he paused in buttering his own then handed her a plate with eggs and two pieces of toast on it. The container of butter sat on the counter for them to share. He made no comment about the woman of her dreams; it was nothing really worthy of further conversation if Phallon didn't know who she was.

"I had the blinds down, so he couldn't really see me, but I had the TV on for a little while, so he probably noticed the light and knew I was there," Shane decided. It seemed appropriate anyway. "He kept at it for a good hour then left and came back then started tapping it again like two hours later. I'm a light sleeper, so it kind of really sucked, but at the same time I never really get much sleep anyway." The man shrugged and sat at the table to eat his now ready breakfast. "It was more annoying than anything, to be honest. Someone tapping at a window would raise his guard, yes, but make him scared? Not necessarily. He knew he was more than capable of taking care of himself, and death wasn't really something he feared anymore.

"I could have taken him, easy," Shane replied, sounding not at all worried. If he'd had a gun there might have been a problem, but nothing happened so he felt no real need to worry right now. "Well, we need to apply to Walmart today and see if we get the jobs. Then when we have enough money we can totally go somewhere else." He only hoped Phallon really could get that job so she'd be able to find a good place to live and start over with a new, much better life. From her background files he'd read, she wasn't a bad person. She only had a life that led her to crime, and he wanted to see her get that awesome second chance.

"With me around, you don't need to worry about being safe. I'll protect you, don't worry," Shane told her, then flashing her a reassuring smile. It was his job, after all. If he absolutely had to, he could even call in a special swat team for very extreme situations. Funny how former criminals got much more extensive protection than the general public of law abiding citizens.
"But if you really want to move, then we can. There is a nicer part of town a few miles from here. It's still nothing special, but I hear law enforcement is better, and the apartments are nicer," he informed her after swallowing a bite of his breakfast. "Of course, it will definitely be more expensive than here. We could get money quicker by getting into illegal things, but I'd rather not do that." Those words right there were a little test - one of his many.

Shane was happy at first, but the last comments made him frown. "No, Phallon. Even in a town like this, that's bad," he told her rather firmly. "Please don't steal or do crime, okay?" If she did that then he'd have no choice but to take her out, like those two men in the alleyway. Well, it was either he did it himself or called his work to get someone else to do it. But either way, there were no third chances.

Shane tried to laugh it off now, chuckling a bit and nodding. "Good, good." Inwardly, it felt like he just dodged a major bullet. He continued eating for a while before speaking up again. "Are you feeling nervous about applying for this job today?" he inquired, taking another bite of his eggs after.

"Yeah, that's true. I can only hope that I get it too," Shane said to her. But, he knew that if she got the job he would too. All he had to do was call his actual job, and they'd work their magic to get him a job there. After all, he had to stay close to her. Getting up, he took his dishes to the sink, having finished his breakfast. "You might want to get a shower and stuff, to make a better impression when we get their to fill out applications."

"Maybe a little bit," Shane teased back, glancing over his shoulder long enough to stick his tongue out at her in a playful manner. He then began running the water and quickly scrubbing the dishes. "I'm sure I could use a shower too anyway. So when you're done, I'd appreciate it if you'd do your hair and everything in the bedroom so i can get my shower. That way we can save some time and get down to Walmart as soon as possible."

Shane watched her go, pausing in his dish cleaning to look at her, his hands still under the warm water. As soon as he heard the water turn on for the shower, he retracted and dried his hands. Then, pulling out his phone from his pocket, he began to send in a report to his bosss. Unfortunately, this report wasn't as casual. He had made sure to mention Phallon's remark on illegal activity, joke or not. "Possible signs of reverting back to criminal ways," he typed and send it. Only a minute later did he get the reply, "Keep closer examination, must not leave your sight." The man pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance then stuck the phone back in his pocket. This was going to be irritating.

Shane quickly lifted his head and smiled at her, acting like he'd simply been leaning against the counter. "Thanks. I hope you didn't take all the hot water," he teased. he grabbed some clean clothes from his bag then went into the bathroom. Turning on the water, he got in and began washing the troubles he'd been dealing with down the drain. Not thinking Phallon would hear him, he began singing another Breaking Benjamin song. This time it was Angels Fall.

Shane was soon out of the shower, having sang the same song twice during the entire duration. He dried himself and dressed then combed his hair quick. When he emerged from the bathroom, he was wearing a nice looking button up shirt that was an orphan blue with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Pants wise, he wore some tan khakis. "Yo, Phallon, what do you think? Do I look professional?" he asked then put his hand on his chin in a sort of 'Thinker' pose. He may have looked professional, but he didn't exactly act like it; he always had to be funny in some way.
