True, true)
Shane looked at her, letting silence hang in the air from the two of them for what seemed like minutes when in reality, it was more likely only seconds. He was trying to come up with something good, but then he sighed, seeming defeated. "They liked to travel a lot and then bad things happened," he answered, only half lying this time. "Dad got into some bad stuff."
Honestly, his parents never traveled for work, he had, but his dad had defintiely gotten into bad habits early on in his life - not like his life was the best before either with the bad neighborhood he'd grown up in. The man was 24 now, but he'd run away and started his new life at the good age of 14. But hey, it wasn't so bad now. Now, he had a job which paid well, he could help others who had been in their own terrible situations, and he loved his work. So, he was a pretty happy guy, inside and out.

I'm more worried about making you mad in the fact that I don't get on every day anymore D:)
"It was," Shane agreed, looking down at his lap. He did, however, perk up at the question. Now, he had a lot of favorite places. "I can't pick just one. London was great, the rain forests on Washington were amazing, and the Gran Canyon is excellant. I don't really have a favorite because I'll always pick at least three." As he spoke, a smile spread across his face once again, growing wider with each word the man uttered. "But then there's Romania. That place in general was awesome: great culture, tasty food, Dracula's Castle, the second most haunted forest in the world, and beautiful waterfalls." He leaned in a bit closer, talking a bit quieter with his happy smile turning more ornery, like what he was about to say was some secret being told by an ornery child.. "Personally, I think the falls in Romania are way better than Niagra in Canada."

Thanks for understanding ) One thing was for sure, he could agree that this place sucked. Seriously, why had the Organization chosen this place as her location for rehabillitation? Sometimes, they were real idiots, he thought. Shane nodded agreement. "I should have, but I diodn't have the money for most other places. I'm sure you didn't either. So, how about we make this city our stepping stone? It will provide us with the oppertunity to gain funds so we can travel to wherever we want in the future and start a betetr life." That was this city's secret purpose for her anyway.

"I know places like grocery stores always have spots open for hiring. Or, you know, crappy places like McDonalds probably could offer us some work, too," Shane responded, looking up off into the distance and tapping his chin with the end of the plastic fork while he thought. As much as he would have loved to offer her a job that paid more than minimum wage, even she had to start somewhere and work her way up. The Organization did not provide the jobs for the subjects; society did that.

The guardian was surprised by his subject's comments. She really wanted him to stay close like that - working with her, wlaking her home at night, or just walking with her during the day? That was quite the surprise indeed since most seemed to like their space naturally. But perhaps he just made her feel all the more safe with his presence. He hoped so, as that simply made him feel good inside; while it also made his job a lot easier.
"I'd love to get a job with you and walk you back to the motel," Shane replied with a genuine grin. By now, he had finished his food and drink and was ready to leave at any time, but he sat back in his chair to relax. "Tomorrow would be ebst for sure. I say we check the local grocery stores first, or Walmarts. They will probably have the highest chances of hiring us."

"What for?" Shane asked, raising a brow. He had a good idea of what she meant, but he didn't want to make it look like he'd planned to want to stay with her from the beginning. That would break the whole deal. "Not like I have anywhere else to stay or to put my things." He gave a rather defeated sigh then and placed his cheek in his hand, resting his elbow on the table. "Might just have to go and stay in one of those abandoned buildings, if there are any not already occupied by squatters." He was trying to really sell it.

"Terrorizing? Now that's a mean way to put it, don't you think?" Shane retorted with his own teasing tone. His face grew a big smile then when she allowed him access to staying with her. "Cool! Thanks a bunch," he told her happily, genuinely happy about this. It would be so much better than sleeping on her roof or elsewhere.
The guardian was well aware that he'd only be allowed to stay a couple weeks at most under normal circumstances. So, he'd be sure to call in help from his work. If they had a man sent to break in and he was able to fight him off - without killing him, of course - then perhaps Phallon would find it much safer to have Shane around. Which, in turn, should allow him access to her motel room for a longer period of time. That was the later plan anyway. Anything to stay near her.

If this plot wasn't about high stakes and criminals, then it would have made a great Hallmark romance movie. However, that wasn't the case, and Phallon had no idea she was giving him exactly what he wanted. Although, it did make her feel a little better know she would have someone around who could fend off anyone who might try to break into her room. "I expect you to help pay for the room, though, while you're staying there," she reminded him. "I don't have enough money to support the both of us. Even with a job, it'll take time to save up enough to keep a good stock of food for us. So I expect you to pull your weight."

"Course," Shane responded without hesitation. He had no problem helping to pay for the room. They'd both be getting jobs together, so he'd simply use the money made from that to pay. "But I do have a certain concern. Motel rooms have to be paid for for however many nights you're staying in them. Well, we, one, don't know how long your room was actaully paid for, unless you happen to rememebr that. And, two, since paychecks don't come by the night, we may have to rent out an apartment to make it easier for living. Since rent tends to be every month like most paychecks, we can probably do better there." A quick text and he could also have the Organization make any room they want super cheap, too. So, that would work out better than a motel anyway.

"Hmmm... I think it's best if we at least start searching for apartments now, to see what's out there so we have a good idea of what we want," Shane suggested, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. However, he stood up almost immediately after. "Come on, let's keep looking for any information on you first. The police station should be our next good bet." After pushing in his chair, he held his hand out for Phallon to take so they could hold hands again as they walked.

Sorry for absence! I'm back now! I also hope you're doing well)
Shane put his hand down and instead grathered his trash, which was really only the styrophome container his food had came in. After dumping it in the trash, he waited on Phallon to be ready to take his hand. He'd rather not walk without her right in his grasp. With so many people aorund, this was the safest option "We're more likely to find information at the polcie station anyway. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why we didn't check there sooner." But, he knew exactly why. It gave the Organization more time to erase all criminal records of her.
They had very special access that was better than even the CIA or people in places such as the Pentagon. It still all took some time to do, however. Especially since they would literally go through the internet to earase or alter all traces of a subject. Suddenly, a huge addict and dealer wasn't charged with possession on several accounts and all over Facebook. Instead, they were a boy from a small town int he middle of nowhere Idaho who had gotten robbed and gained amnesia, so they could start their life over again. Even Facebook accounts were deleted. In fact, all social media was and made to look like the person themselves had done it. It was all purely to keep them away from their previous life and let them move forward with a better one. And every single angle and base was covered so the subject never fell back into old ways again, or died as the result if they happened to do just that.

I'm well, too ^^ But seriously, so sorry for all my absences. I know it can get annoying)
"Could be," Shane said with a slight chuckle added in. He was happy when she again took his hand, the one that did not carry more than half the bags. Mixed in with the feeling of satisfaction with her security this way, a much deeper, very faint feeling of warmth came from it. It's not like the man had a crush on his subject, but she was definitely more liked than any of his previous assignments for whatever reason.
As they exited the mall, he glanced around at the people on the street. The number had increased significantly due to the collective lunch rush within the city. Because of this, he held Phallon's hand a bit tighter and turned left, heading further up the street and past the large mall building to go to the police station. He was on higher alert than yet before.

To be honest, I apologize for literally anything and everything. But thank you. That does make me feel better ) "It's about a mile from your place," Shane replied, glancing down at her. He noticed her eyes shifting along, too. The man felt bad for making her paranoid now, but in the end it was better to be so than to be too comfortable and end up injured or dead. These types of thoughts had been etched into his brain. "It'd be a good idea to swing by later, but first thing's first. We gotta find some trace of your previous life," he declared convincingly.

After a couple more block wlaked in silence between the two, they arrived at the police station. Seeing the hevay glass doors, police logo, and marked cars parked in the lot, Shane visibly tensed up. His grip on Phallon's hand tightened ever so slightly, jsut enough to be noticed. Meanwhile, his jaw clenched, and his other hand clasped the bags of good he carried tighter, making that distinctive plastic bag noise. But, he said nothing and instead opened the door for Phallon.

Shane almsot didn't hear her speak, past memories resurfacing. His gaze slowly went down to Phallon, gradually tearing away from the logo on the wall inside and the officers milling around. "Uh, yeah," he said just as slowly as he'd looked at her. It had to be the most unconvincing thing ever. "I'm just not a fan of police. They shot my brother when he was innocent," the man lied easily. Even if he was in sort of a daze, lying still came so naturally to him. "Don't worry about it, and talk to the receptionist."
He nodded to a lady behind the counter whose blakc hair was in a bun. She typed away on the computer but looked up when they walked in. "Can I help you two?" she asked, pausing form her typing. "If you got mugged, unless you saw their face, there isn't anything we can do about it." That right there really said how bad the city was in one sentence.

The lady looked at her with sort of an annoyed glint her eyes, as if just checking would be too much trouble. Her gaze then traveled to Shane, who still looked a bit nervous. It was easy to read on his face and by his posture. "Uh-huh. I'll see what I can pull up," she told them then, with a little sigh, began typing away again. Every few seconds she clicked on something enw then went right back to typing. Finally, after what seemed to be like forever but was onyl about two minutes in reality, she shook her head. 'There's nothing on a Phallon Foster. We've got Jimmy carter, Bruce Black, Jannette Steinfield, and the list goes on, but there's nothing about a Phallon or a Foster."
