Breaking Benjamin is easily my second favorite band, right behind Get Scared. Three Days Grace is also up in my top 5. I think Skillet might be after them, then My Darkest Days. But, I've been in a BB mood, too. More specifically, their album Saturate and the song Better Days.)
Shane could only give a shrug in response and comment, "You had them last." It wasn't even a minute later he decided to just forget about them. "It's fine. I'll just pick the lock again if I have to." He shoved his hands in his pockets to wait, figuring she wouldn't go for that and want to search around until the missing keys were no longer so. So, to wait, the man leaned himself against the wall, crossing his legs nearer his feet. This may take a while.

(I love Skillet! I don't know much by My Darkest Days, though. I've been listening to BB's Phobia album. I've been meaning to check out some of their newer stuff, but that one is the one I keep going back to, lol.)
Phallon soon spotted the keys on the counter, pushed over to the very end. She quickly grabbed them ad placed them in her pocket. "Okay, now we go," she stated, walking back over to the door. Noticing hi stance, she felt a little embarrassed. "Sorry," she muttered, really knowing why. There was just something that told her that he was ready to get going.
(Again, sorry for short post. And Merry Christmas!)

Sorry I've been off lately. This week is getting pretty busy)
Phobia is a great album. I can't decide if it, We Are Not Alone, or Saturate is my actual favorite, though XD)
"No need to apologize," Shane told her as he followed her out the door. After the place was locked up, he glanced around, hands in his pockets. "Well, now where to start is the real question. You don't look like much of a bar scene kind of girl. Maybe a shopper? We could try to ask around the local mall," the man suggested. He figured that seemed like a pretty plausible location to start asking around futilely. There would be a nice little food court for sure where he'd be able to buy her lunch too, as promised.

Oh yeah, I'm so busy this week and it's weird because I'm almost never busy.)
I know almost every single song form every album XD If you haven't tried it yet, look up Better Days on youtube. It's a really old song of theirs but is only really on the 'best of' album. It's one of my favorite songs.)
"Sounds good to me. Just stay close, okay?" Shane told her then started walking, heading back into the midst of all the buildings. Now that it was day, the city was more visible as having a lot of abandoned buildings, and so many people were out and about. It was like any normal, cruddy city, really. As the walked, Shane actually, suddenly took Phallon's hand in his. "Just roll with it," he told her in a more quiet tone, like he was trying to be discreet about it. There was ultimately a good reason for him doing this; in his mind it was to protect her, but it could be perceived differently by different people, like Phallon herself.

(That's just how life goes. XD
It's the same for me and Three Days Grace. Let me listen to any song for five seconds, and I can either name the song or the album it's from. Except for Transit of Venus. For some reason, I only liked a handle of songs off that album. I don't think I've heard of that song yet, so I will definitely look it up.)
The city was not a sight to behold. Everywhere she looked, there was some kind of run down building that desperate need of repair. Graffiti covered many walls that led down to sketchy alleys filled with thrash. So far, she was not too happy with the city choice she chose for herself. This looked like a city people tended to stay away from. When she felt her hand be taken by Shane's, her attention turned to the taller man. Her first reaction to ask why she should, but she stopped herself. In a place like this, getting lost from him might not turn out so good. It was a little awkward, she had to admit, but she simply nodded. "If I did run away, I'm seriously questioning my logical thinking and common sense right now," she muttered.

I know right? Better days is so amazing but not very well known. For three Days Grace, I can pretty much do that, too, for the most part. I'm better with Get Scared and BB, though)
"A lot of runaways come here," Shane told her, not looking down in her direction nor focusing only on the path ahead. His blue eyes more shifted around in almost paranoia, like all the people walking by them had the potential to be a serial killer ready to strike at them. However, other than his eyes hinting at paranoia, the rest of his body langue gave off a calm vibe. At first glance, he would actually seem very relaxed walking down the crowded street this way. Even his grip on her hand was firm to not lose her, but loose enough she could pull away any time, almost as if he were holding the hand of a girl he liked. It had only been a few seconds pause before he spoke again. "I should know since I'm one of them."

They are a band that's still kind of rising in popularity, but I love them so much! They're kind of harder than BB is, being post-hardcore/alternative metal. They're songs are so relatable, though, and some even motivational.)
"No, I don't mind," Shane replied, glancing down at her and then around again. It was all his instincts making him be so aware, waiting for anything to happen that he'd have to be prepared for. "I just simply ran from an abusive father and dead end lifestyle. There's really not much to tell, to be honest." He knew he had to make it sound convincing, but coming up with an elaborate lie out of thin air like that was not going to be easy. So, he found it best to keep it short and sweet, with as little real detail as possible.

You should really give them a try. May I recommend a few songs?)
"18," Shane answered, thinking that was a good age to go by. It gave a few years of experience being out on the streets, out in this dump of a city. The excuse even provided a good, logical explanation for his skills of fighting if they had to come to light at any time. Let's face it, in this town, it probably wouldn't be all that long before he would have to fight somebody, whether they be a mugger or just some bad tempered dude they bumped on the sidewalk.
As they walked, people glanced at them, some staring. it may have been Shane's ridiculous height, or perhaps they were your average every day pervert and watching Phallon. Either way, Shane stayed on alert, keeping her close and her fingers entwined with his as he watched them walk by. It really was all rather unsettling, even for the guardian.

My personal favorite, and a very popular one is Sarcasm. Others of their best songs are My Nightmare, Moving, For You, RIP, Suffer, Buried Alive, Don't You Dare Forget the Sun(and it's sang by a different guy, too), and If Only She Knew Voodoo like I Do.)
Her question made his mind race to find a quick and believable answer. "Well, yeah, but I kind of have a thing for danger," he replied, shrugging a bit. Yet, he felt the need to explain, or try to. "I like the excitement of this city. Sure, I could get seriously hurt sometimes, but safe is boring." It was mostly true of him. His job allowed the kind of rush this tall adrenaline junkie enjoyed. So, it wasn't really a lie when he spoke.
While it wasn't a lie, deep down it still wasn't quite the truth either. He enjoyed danger, yes, but it wasn't his job which had given him that interest. His old lifestyle had, and without it, he never would have gotten this job. He rather missed his old lifestyle, too. It had been a lot more 'lively' than his current occupation.

(I'll check some of those out. ) "Well, you certainly seem more than capable of holding your own here," Phallon murmured. "And with all those skills of yours, I doubt anyone ever messes with you. However, I don't think that was the case with me. It just doesn't feel right." To be honest, she had trouble trying to imagine herself coming here for the excitement the city brought with it. The air around them was filled with too much suspicion. She did her best to not jump or retreat closer to Shane's side as someone passed too close to her. "How far are we from the mall?" she asked, trying not to sound too eager to get to wherever they were going.

Tell me what you think then :3 )
"There can be other reasons besides wanting to be around danger. Not everyone likes to not play it safe." At her question, he responded with, "close." Yet, nothing more was said about it. A minute of silence went by when he suddenly yanked Phallon into an alley way and shoved her firmly, but not roughly, behind a dumpster. He glanced over his shoulder then turned back to her, putting his finger to his lips, then walking back near the entrance of the alley without another word. he stopped a few feet in, then appeared to be waiting.

I hope you don't mind mild violence and death. Please, tell me if you do)
Shane stood for only about 20 seconds before two big men rounded the corner. Both were tall, but not quite as tall as him, and were quite bulky with muscle. One had jet black hair like Shane, while the other's was long and a shaggy brown. They seemed surprised to see the taller man waiting for them, alone. "Are you looking for someone?" the guardian inquired with a rather polite tone, hands in his coat pockets.
"Where's that girl you were with?" the man with brown hair demanded, taking a threatening step forward. They obviously didn't want her for a calm conversation, or anything calm for that matter.
"I'm afraid she had to split. If I were you guys, I'd do the same. You don't want to start something with me, trust me." Shane's tone turned from relaxed and polite to a more dark and sinister one by the end of his sentences. His hands still had not yet moved from his pockets, nor had he stepped back or move in any other way. He wasn't afraid.

Oh yeah, Sarcasm is really popular. It's probably their most popular song. I love it, too XD)
"You better tell us where she is, or you'll be sorry, pal," the one with short hair growled. His hand went into his own pocket and produced a pocket knife which he flicked open. His brown eyes glared daggers at Shane, while he friend pulled a pocket knife of his own. While they were focused on Shane, they probably would have noticed if Phallon had moved, so it really was good she hadn't.
"You really don't want to do this, guys." Shane gave them a final warning, moving his feet so he was in a more defensive stance. Removing his hands from his pockets, he held up a knife of his own. It was his job to keep his subject safe, so he would take on two enemies at once to do just that.
The longer haired man charged him then, even going so far as to let out an angry yell while he ran at the taller man. His knife was ready to slice into Shane.

Yay! Someone else likes Get Scared!!! So happy right now) As the knife came right at Shane's chest with intent to slash him open, he dodge to the side. His gracefulness in the kitchen now showed a new use - or perhaps this was its intended use all along. The man fell off balance when his force hit nothing but air, and Shane was on him in seconds, pinning the man to the ground and thrusting the knife down, causing him to fall still. The other man stared in stunned shock. Just like that, his friend was dead, in mere seconds of attacking. Still, he could not lose this fight. now, it was combat for his own life, he felt like. Knife in hand, he, too, lunged for Shane. As the taller man dodged again, he was ready this time and slashed again while also catching himself. The tan trench coat split in the blade's wake, and red began to stain the edges of the cut on his arm he'd held up for defense. Shane winced, but jumping back, an almost wicked grin spread across his face. "You're pretty good. Don't usually get hurt at all," he said to the short haired man before quickly spinning, leg in the air. His foot connected with the man's head and down he fell. The guardian's smile never wavered while he got down on the hurt man's back and placed his hands on his head, turning it emit a sickening crack. It was all over. The victor stood, his arm still bleeding, but he grabbed his knife again and glanced over his shoulder back to the dumpster. "Alright, it's safe to come out now," he called to Phallon, his tone sounding like nothing had even happened. I hope that's not too intense)

I know exactly what you mean! Not many people seem to like Get Scared or Breaking Benjamin on the forums)
Shane turned fully to face her when she hand't approached. the look on her face made him frown for maybe the first time since they'd met. He glanced down at the men and then back at her. "I had to do it. They would have killed me and hurt you if I had let them live. Who knows what they actually did to other people." His words and expression were suddenly so serious as he tried to justify the horrible actions.
Since Phallon's legs seemed to fail her, he walked over to her instead. Putting his knife back into his pocket, not even bothering to clean it, he stepped closer. The tan coat flowed slightly behind him. The guardian stopped in front of his subject then placed a hand on her shoulder. Surprisingly, it wasn't bloody at all. "Phallon, I'm sorry you had to witness that, and I'm sure you're scared right now. But, I promise you that I won't hurt you, okay? I've got no reason to." He was sure that would be her main concern now, that he would do the same horrible crime to her.

(Or in real life. Then again, I do live in a place where this music is pretty much hated and/or not many people listen to it. *shrugs*)
He had a point. He always seemed to have a point. The men wouldn't have been satisfied if they were merely scared away. They could've followed them back to her motel room and simply waited until Shane left before making their move. Knocking them out might have worked too, but that would only give them more reason to hunt them down when they woke, seeking revenge. The more she thought about, the more logic came into the light. However, that didn't mean her conscious was okay.
Phallon lifted her head in order to look at Shane's face. It took a lot of effort not to flinch away from the man who had just saved her from a horrible incident. Everything thing about him was exactly the same, yet she saw him in a new light. No more did she think the tall, lean man posed no threat to anyone. He just showed how deadly he could be. Yet despite that, she had no reason to believe he was lying to her. After all, if he wanted to kill her, he could have done so at any point last night. That fact did little to calm her.
"C-can we just get out of here?" she asked, looking away from him. The whole scene was just unnerving, and she didn't want to be here when, and if, the police arrived. She didn't care where they went, just so long as she was far away from the bodies anywhere would be fine with her.

Oh. The only other person I know who really likes Breaking Benjamin and Get Scared irl is literally my bf's dad. That's it. My parents are okay with BB, but they don't like Get Scared ) Shane knew it would be a lot for her brain to process and that it would take some time to get over. She definitely hand't done much killing in her life, even as a criminal. His were soft when he looked down at her, as if trying to offer any tiny sliver of comfort that he could. Sighing, he held out his hand to her to take so they could leave. The real question was, could she take it again knowing it had just been use to kill two fellow human beings? Deep down, he knew that this situation, or something similar, would happen sooner or later. It always happened. He'd worked five jobs in total, this current one included. Every single time, something happened that he had to kill another and his subject found out. even if was for their own protection, they always seemed so mortified, stunned to the point of silence as they watched or stared at the bodies. While his mind was not only numb to it, he enjoyed it at this point. Killing was fun, exciting. He loved the thrill that came with it, yet he never did it for fun. The joy of it was all just a bonus. Besides, he didn't want his subjects seeing him like that, thinking him a crazed killer with a thirst for blood. He wanted none of them to really see that dark side.

My parents actually love rock music, just Get Scared isn't for them. BB is better, though, in their minds. They like Bon Jovi, Nickelback, AC/DC, and Five Finger Death Punch the most. I like them all, too)
The hesitation was obvious to happen, even if she did yet instill some trust in him. He knew it would happen, and he knew she would be wary of him for a while. Until that trust was built back up, he'd have to try and be extra careful not to scare her again. His mind trying to push thoughts of regret away, he led her back out onto the street. His arm had stopped bleeding at this point, but the edges of the slash in his coat were still stained a fresh red. The point of injury was right by her head even as he used that hand to hold her's. The wound stung, yet he said nothing about it. Instead, he quietly uttered, "I hope you know I did that to keep you safe. I really don't intend to hurt you in any way." His eyes were back to shifting around, watching those who passed by once more. The people they wlaked by didn't even give him, or the clear blood form his arm, a second glance. Fights and crime were normal here.

(See, my parents love all the classic rock and most of what they use to listen sounds just like, if not a little harder, then what I do now. They like Bon Jovi, AD/DC, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, and several others that I can't remember at the moment, all which I like to listen to as well, yet if they even look at the album art to a Black Veil Bride CD, they're like "Why are you listening to this?")
"I-I know," Phallon muttered. A thank you was in order, but at the moment, she couldn't bring herself to be thankful. Later maybe, but not know. Her gaze flicker up to his arm where the coat was ripped and stained. "You should get your arm looked at. Is there a hospital near by?"
(Eh, sorry for such short replies!)
