I get that. But hey, music is music :3)
Shane's eyes traveled down to his stinging arm. "It's fine. That's nothing," he told her simply then went back to looking around, silently judging people as potential threats. He took his job of Phallon's safety very seriously. "I've had worse injuries before. A little disinfectant and a bandage and I will be fine. But we're going to ask around first for you. No one else will even care about this cut. Even if they ask, the simple answer that a guy tried to mug me will work every time."
He might not have known the city or people well, but he didn't have to. Every crime ridden city was the same. No one cared when you called for help. No one came when to your aid when you were being kidnapped or in an accident; they only took out their phones to film the whole thing for likes and comments on social media. When you were hurt, no one batted an eyelash towards you, either. probably the only thing that got most peoples' attention that they'd be willing to help with was a fire. But, even then, people were selfish and non-caring.
It's okay! I know sometimes it's hard to think up stuff.)

It's alright. I'm gonna have to go anyway. Maybe you'll think of more later, but don't worry about it!)
"So you care about me, even now? I'm glad," Shane said to her, glancing down with his smile returning. That was good, that she actually still cared for him despite what she'd witnessed. His grip slightly tightened around her hand, his fingers not so loose around hers anymore. "I promise to do whatever I can to keep you safe." He said it like he already cared so much for her, and he did, even if it was just a job. Shane was a man who took his work very seriously. His promise would also never be broken.

Shane's typical happy-go-lucky demeanor was returning, until her words cut into him like that knife, but deeper. So, he was more sensitive than one would think. Slight sadness gripped him, and his face fell to a frown, a genuine one. "Right," was all he said, uttering it in a low mutter, that joy no longer present. Yeah, her attitude and comments hurt, but it was all to be expected. After all, she had witnessed him murder two men. Most other people probably wouldn't even be handling it this well, so Phallon was exceptional in this way. He'd just have to get over not being liked as much for a little while, even if he was the kind of guy who loved to have everyone like him. Silence now consumed them as they walked, the giant structure of the mall looming in the near distance.

Phallon sensed something change in the air around them after his short reply to her comment. Then there was just silence. It was different than the silence they shared when they first left her motel room this morning. Now there was something lying underneath it that she couldn't quiet recognize. Though, what else was suppose to happen after what she just witnessed. If anything, she became more paranoid as they walked, always checking behind them at random times to make sure no one was following. She wouldn't be able to tell if anyone was, however. After all, there were dozens of people heading in the same direction they were. It would have been a miracle if she spotted a potential threat the way Shane had so easily done.
The sight of the mall, though just as looming and dull as the rest of the city, gave her a sense of relief. Soon they would be off the street and, hopefully, in a much safer building. There at least had to be some kind of security set up inside to keep things in line. Even if the people were still sketchy, surely nothing bad would happen once they were in the shopping center.

The rest of the trip to the mall was uneventful, and the tell man remained quiet as well. Their journey had come to an end once the automatic doors slid open in their presence and a rush of cold air flowed forth outward. Inside, the mall was bustling with as many people as the streets. Except these people didn't even bother the passing glance those outside had. Everyone was going about their business in their own little worlds.
Shane glanced around the wide open mall lobby once inside. His eyes scanned everyone, quickly judging them all in seconds, constantly making more new judgments as more and more people entered and exited the area. "Security is that way," he said curtly, his voice returning to that serious tone as before. He usually put fun into his work, but it wasn't there anymore. quietly, he then pointed to a sign hanging from the high ceiling which read in bold, blue letters 'security' and pointed an arrow to the right.

Phallon stole a quick glance up at the man, noting the serious tone in his voice. While this was a serious matter, she had expected him to be his, what she assumed, normal happy self. She didn't comment on this, however. Instead, she nodded and headed in the direction of the security office. It only struck her now that she had no idea what she was going to ask them once they were in the office. The idea of asking around for her had been a good one, but she had forgotten to actually think of questions to ask. She couldn't ask Shane to do the talking, mainly since this had been her idea. So she had only a few minutes to think up something as she opened and walked through the door.

Shane walked with her in silence. He still held her hand, but his grip had loosened a bit. Once in the security office, he let go than shoved his hands back into his coat pockets. Like routine, his eyes scanned the people in the office quickly, but he did relax a bit after.
An older lady with white hair in curls sat inside the small plexiglass box at her desk. She was basically the receptionist. "Hello, may I help you two?" she asked politely. Her slightly yellowed teeth shown as she gave them a cheerful smile. Judging by their faces, the matter wasn't super serious, so she had no problem with being polite and friendly instead of curt with greetings.

"Um, yeah, well, I hope you can help," Phallon stated as she walked over to the desk, scrambling in a last ditch effort to put together her thoughts. "We're looking for one of our friends, and we're having a hard time locating her. Someone said she might be working here, but they weren't sure. Is there anyway you might be able to tell us if she's an employee here or not?"
She decided it might be best if she didn't come right out and tell everyone of her amnesia. It might sound weirder than simply asking for a friend. It was a long shot, but she was sure it would have the same end result. That is, if she was allowed to give out that kind of information. There could very well be a privacy rule regarding the names of those who worked here, and there was a good chance this older lady might keep that rule.

"I can, but I need to first know your name and why you want to find this person," the desk lady told her through the little holes in the plexiglass, specifically there for speaking through. There wasn't a strict rule about it, thankfully, but some obstacles still had to be in place. nothing was ever that easy.
Shane stood back the entire time, hands in his pockets. He let Phallon do all the talking since she had wanted to come here so badly after his suggestion. She'd already started conversing anyway. Even though she fumbled with words, clearly not sure what to say exactly, he didn't intervene, yet. The guardian would if necessary.

"Phallon? That's a pretty unusual name," the older lady stated, chewing on her slightly cracked lips. They were also coated in pink lipstick. "I'll check the records, but I don't think there is a Phallon Foster who works here." She spun to the side and started immediately typing on her computer. Her shrived fingers worked surprisingly quickly. Two minutes later, she shook her head. "I'm sorry, but there is no Phallon Foster on record for the several years I've checked. Maybe you have the wrong mall?" she suggested, giving a kind smile instead since the desired information wasn't able to be presented.

The women dismissed them with a smile and a little shake of her head, non-verbally saying it was no trouble at all, but also that she had other work to do. She went back to typing on the computer then but for other purposes. If that was all they needed, no point in starting up conversation or anything, especially since her job demanded attention.
"Well, that was a bust. Maybe the police station?" Shane suggested, staying rather serious again now. She just didn't seem to want him to be his happy self after killing those people, so he wouldn't be. He could understand her point of view, but also in his mind, killing them was no big deal. It was fun, and it was for a good cause. They were trash anyway, worse than the paper cups and empty tin cans that littered this very city's streets.

Phallon turned towards him as he spoke, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, that'll probably be the best place to go next," she mused as she made her way out of the security office. She only assumed that the police station would be more helpful. With the state of the city, it was hard to have high regards towards the law enforcement. If they were doing their job correctly, after all, than the crime rate would be a lot lower. Then again, maybe there was just too many people for them to keep track of. Either way, they would at least be able to track down a name and address if nothing else.
"I guess while we're here, we should pick up a few things," the woman added. "I still need to get that first aid kit, and a few other things I didn't find in my bag. Do you think we'll be able to get everything here?"

Shane followed along behind her while they made their way out of the security office. He shrugged in response to her question. "Probably," he added, glancing around. "It's a mall, after all. There's pretty much anything in here if you look hard enough. What else do you need besides a first aid kit?" First aid kits weren't always super easy to find, but they could probably find one around for sale. However, some other objects, depending on what she wanted, might be harder to find.

"I'll just come with you. I don't mind walking through those kinds of items like most men do. Don't mind shopping either," Shane responded, adding a shrug at the end of his words. He took his hand form his pocket and grabbed her hand yet again to lead her away and keep her close. He wasn't to leave her side really, as much as he could help it. At the very least, he needed to know where she was and if she was safe at all times. That's how the job went. Up until she was on her feet with a new life, he was to completely look out for her.

"That's fine," Shane responded simply, not sounding like he cared, because he really didn't. He was back to being on alert and watching everyone pass them while they made their way to the necassary stores. Nothing seemed to jump at him this time, or rather, no one. He did not feel that they were intenionally being followed this time, not like out in the streets. However, he didn't like the slight awkward tension he felt between himself and Phallon now. So, he had to speak up. "Are you mad at me, for what I did to those two guys?" he asked, glancing down at her now. "Or is it that you just don't trust me as much anymore?"

Phallon had just spotted a store that appeared to have everything she was looking for, or at least the majority of the supplies at least, when Shane voice his question. The young woman took a minute to think over her answer. She wasn't really mad in a sense, but did she not trust him? To be honest, she never really had full trust in the tall man to begin with, but he had done nothing to really suggest he'd do her any harm. Even though he did kill two people, he had done so because they were after her.
"More like just wary," she replied, turning her head so she could look up at him. "After all, you took care of those two guys in a matter of seconds. It was pretty scary. But I believe if you've wanted to hurt me, then you would have done so by now. If anything, I'm kind of curious as to how you were able to do that, and exactly why you learned how. As well as trending carefully so I stay on your good side."

Shane stared down at her a moment as he pondered her words, as if thinking up the best answer to a question unspoken. "The only reason you'd be on my bad side," he said finally, "is if you either became a criminal or tried to hurt me." Those were the rules, after all. Only in those two circumstances was he allowed to use violence against her, or even leathal force. So, as long as she didn't steal large sums of money or valuables, breka into someone else's home, killed other people when it wasn't self-defense, etc, she would be safe from him and from going back to her old ways.
He wondered, though, would she really be capable of going back to her old ways? Like with most criminals, the reason she had turned to crime was from influence brought by the outside world and hardship. No one was born a criminal, and that included Phallon. Usually, once given a new oppertunity with which to make a new life for oneself and given some resources to help with that, most would steer clear of the criminal life. Most even thought it bad, like regular citizens, completely unaware that they themselves had once been part of what society frowned upon. How would Phallon feel later on? Would she frown upon crime too, or go back to it?

Her words were almost like being stabbed to him. Even though he knew very well that wasn't seriously abotu what she said, jsut her uttering those words made him nervous. She bhad no idea how close to the true she was. He had to try very ahrd to hide his surprise and worry, but even he couldn't be that stone faced all the time. Instead, he decided it best to play alogn and laugh a little at her comments of his reflexes. Maybe the nervousness could be convayed as embarrassment? "I'm taking that as a compliment," he told her, scratching the back of his head. He hoped he hadn't arose any suspicion just then.

"Not often," Shane answered honestly as he walked with her around the store they'd entered. "I just practice self-defense techniques a lot. It's good to keep your skills up and reflexes sharp." That wasn't a lie either. He trained himself often, whether with the help of the Organization or not. "If you want, I can teach you a few things." Why not? It wasn't against the rules to do so, so long as no secrets were revealed. He could very well teach his subject a few tricks for self-defense.

"That might be a good idea," Phallon mused, picking up things from the shelves as they passed. She let go of his hand as she carried the supplies. Though he said he would help take some of the items, she decided to carry as much as she could. "Who knows when I'll have to face these streets alone, as undesirable as the thought may be."
To be honest, she didn't know how she would fare once Shane went back to wherever it was he lived. Yeah, she only knew the man for a day but he had already proven that he knew his way around town, as well as knew how to stay alive. She didn't have the same skills he did. If anything, her best bet would just stay low and sneak around from place to place, hoping to go unnoticed. Although, if she was going to do that, something had to be done with the red mop she called hair, which disappointed her. As messy as it tended to be, she liked the look of it. She made a mental note to at least look at hair dye while they where in the store.

"Hopefully, that won't have to happen for a while," Shane mused as they walked. He noticed her carrying a lot, not even bothering to ask him to carry a thing. She was a bit prideful then perhaps. It was a good mental note to take, so he did. Then, he went on to explain what he meant by his previous statement. "I mean, I'd like to be your friend and help you out. We have to stick together anyway if I'm going to teach you self-defense." He'd even make up an excuse to move in with her at the motel room if needed. He really wasn't supposed to leave her alone.
