Cedarstar grit his teeth. "Northstar's orders were that he stays in your den until both you and I can come to an agreement about his loyalty. Now, he may have you fooled, but he has done nothing, in my eyes, to prove his loyalty to this Clan. He will remain where everyone will be able to keep an eye on him and I have nothing to say to him!"

Tumblefoot kneaded his paws into the earth, unable to meet Goldberry's gaze. "Is it that obvious?" Ratmask padded out of the elder's den, his ears back and tail flicking in annoyance. If it wasn't the elders talking his ears off, it was the little kits squealing in their little 'game.' The hairless tom sat down outside the den, licked his paw and ran it over his ear a couple times. The longer he was stuck in this den, the more he'd go insane, he'd swear on it!" (If you find any toilet paper, send some my way! I'm down to my last roll and the stores are empty X.X) "I am the last cat you should ever ask when it comes to feelings and relations like this..." Goldberry's ears hung downward a bit, his paws shuffling tightly, before he blinked rapidly and focused back on his former apprentice. "But, I tend to notice things. I noticed how easily you two got along. She has always been a fiery she-cat, ambitious and dedicated to those she cares about. Her brother, her father...and of course, you. I can assure you though, she will not remain in that den long. She will join you soon." Goldberry looked at the black tom with a gentle humor to his blue eyes. "I am assuming that what you feel is a bit confusing, isn't it?" "Oi! There you are! Still in the elder's den, huh? I know that Leaffrost is certainly enjoying the company of the elders. Guessing you, not so much? Well, if you'd prefer, Cedarstar would like us to check up on the camp walls." Brittlefoot tipped his head as he approached the grumpy tom.

"No, I'm not confused." Tumblefoot shook his head. "I mean, she's my best friend, I miss hanging out with her...but then...I guess...well, you're my friend too, but it's different with Burningpaw. She's more...maybe I can't explain it, but sometimes..." Tumblefoot grew quiet, visible confusion on his face with his struggle to explain himself. He pouted. "Maybe I am...a little...confused."
"Oh, so it's either restless sleep or labor." Ratmask immediately frowned at Brittlefoot, but sighed. "Fine. Where are we starting?"

Perhaps you should speak to Burningpaw, be honest about what you are feeling.” He offered. “I know, so many options.” Brittlefoot snickered. He flicked his tail and nodded towards the walls near the Warrior’s den. “Best to start with the part that’ll probably have the biggest holes. We’ll go get Stormcloud too. Have you seen him anywhere?”

"no." Tumblefoot quickly shook his head. "I don't want to distract her from her warrior assessment. She's got a lot of pressure as the oldest apprentice."
"I haven't seen anyone except the frogbrains in the elder's den." Ratmask flicked his tail and huffed. "So your guess is as good as mine. Though, I'm sure it doesn't have to be Stormcloud, if you want muscle since I lack it, you could easily ask Oakstalk or even Ashrock. I'm sure he's dying to get out of the medicine den."

"If you are certain, then I will not say that mindset is wrong. Perhaps it would be a bit distracting. But, even so, you don't want this to muddle your friendship. I can tell you that your support will make her more confident. Er, at least, that's my experience on it. Each time Swirlheart encourages me, I feel quite confident." Goldberry admitted. He offered Tumblefoot an assuring look. "And you can always talk to me, I would never judge or taunt you for your feelings." "As much as I would, I know Honeypaw would have my throat if I take his mentor from his training time, and Ashrock is probably choking on herbs that he's helping to carry around. What's so wrong with Stormcloud?" Brittlefoot snickered, before he glanced at Ratmask. "And I haven't talked much about it, but fatherhood! How is that going for you? They're getting so big!"

"Well, I'll always give Burningpaw my support! She'll make a great warrior!" Tumblefoot nodded certainly. "And thanks Goldberry, I always appreciate you."
Ratmask full on frowned at Brittlefoot. He got up and started for the camp walls. "Let's just get a move on, shall we?"

He got up and started for the camp walls. "Let's just get a move on, shall we?" “That means alot to me.” Goldberry pressed his muzzle to Tumblefoot’s shoulder in a show of gratitude, before he stepped back and offered. “Would you like to come hunting with me? Perhaps that can help ease your distractions.” Brittlefoot gave a look of confusion. Wasn’t he excited about his kits? He blinked a bit before he scrambled after the younger tom. “Hey! Wait up!...” He rushed to catch up before he tipped his head. “I mean, Leaffrost seems pretty content! At least, that’s what she tells everyone. Who knows! Maybe I can mentor one of them when the time comes!” He mewed hopefully, before he pouted at the camp wall. “Oh bother. What a mess...”

Tumblefoot perked up. "Oh, I'd love to! Since the snow finally melted, I don't think we'll have to resort to catching large birds anymore."
"Yes. Yes. We're all very excited." Ratmask rolled his eyes in response to Brittlefoot's words. When they came to the camp wall, his frown only deepened. No wonder Cedarstar wanted them working on it. The weight of leafbare's snow had crushed it, shortening it by a few inches. "This will take moons to fix..."

"Newleaf is certainly a great time for hunters." Goldberry purred his agreement. "We can use some tactics to draw out some rats at Carrionplace, if you would like. I want to see if you've been keeping up." He chuckled lightly, glad to see Tumblefoot in a good mood for hunting.
"Starclan, I hate leafbare." Brittlefoot puffed, stretching out his legs before he sighed. "I'm taller than you, but I won't be able to stand on my hind legs as long as you can. So if you pass me the material, I can weave it in quickly." He offered to the younger warrior.

Tumblefoot chuckled and stood up to follow his former mentor. "I'm keeping up, no doubt about that. How about you?" He teasingly nudged Goldberry. "Not getting too old for this?"
"We have to go fetch the fox-dunged material first. That's why need Stormcloud's muscles." Ratmask snorted in annoyance. "Why did I have to be recruited for this task? I figured Cedarstar would want to do it himself with Starrylight's help. Isn't that how they supposedly fell in love in the first place?" He rolled his eyes.

Goldberry chuckled a bit, moving to gently cuff Tumblefoot's ear at the remark. He gave a light purr before he flicked his ear. "I may have some scars, but I'm certainly young enough to still keep up with you." He assured, before he began padding towards the camp entrance. "Did they?" Brittlefoot tipped his head. "I can't even remember. I was probably hunting when it happened. Snakesong talked about it, but it made her a bit flustered, like most things do. Eh. Maybe he thought this would help us keep fit, with our er...holdbacks." He hummed.

Tumblefoot chuckled in amusement and happily padded after his former mentor. "You know," he mewed once leaving the camp. Tumblefoot lifted his gaze to look around the territory. "I'm so glad you found me in the twoleggedplace."
Ratmask full on frowned at Brittlefoot's little remark. "Speak for yourself," he spat. With a lash of his hairless tail, Ratmask turned away to search for brambles and branches for the camp's wall.

"Oh! Well...I am glad that we found you as well. You were wonderful company in a...dark moment, of our lives." Goldberry swallowed lightly. He looked at Tumblefoot and admitted. "You are family to me, in my eyes..."
"I was, lack-of-furball." Brittlefoot snorted back with a toss of his eyes and a knowing chuckle. "But okay, okay, touchy subject. Here, pass me that bramble near your paws."

Tumblefoot smiled back at the older warrior. "You're the only family I've ever had." He flicked his ear and looked down at the path they followed. "I don't remember much of when I was real young, but I didn't have anyone until I met you and Swirlheart. Now, I have a whole Clan!" Tumblefoot puffed his chest out. "If you would told me the day before we met that I would have a Clan of cats supporting me, I wouldn't have believed you!"
Ratmask sniffed and lashed his tail once again, but he did as Brittlefoot asked...struggling, a bit, with the weight of the bramble.

Goldberry felt warmed by Tumblefoot's words, and his eyes gleamed with pride as he purred. "I did not expect then, to ever be allowed back into the clan. But, above all, I am glad that you, and Crystalpaw and Honeypaw and Coalpaw have been able to become integrated into the clan. They need you, and you have made us proud." He promised. "Nothing is grander, than being a part of a clan and having something to be loyal to."
Brittlefoot waited for a moment, before he hobbled a bit closer to Ratmask to await to take the bramble from him. It felt better, at least knowing that he was not alone in having more struggles with everyday tasks.

Tumblefoot nodded in agreement. "Or having a place to call your own. I'll always be thankful to Northstar for bringing all of us back." He flicked his ear sadly and glanced back toward the camp. "But...I've realized lately that there's a downside to being a part of a Clan as well. When I was in the twoleggedplace it was just me, all I had to worry about was me, but here in the Clan...you have everyone in it...and you feel the loss of losing them too."
Ratmask huffed when he finally passed the bramble. He didn't look at Brittlefoot and instead started to reach for the next one.

Ratmask huffed when he finally passed the bramble. He didn't look at Brittlefoot and instead started to reach for the next one. “Thus is the price, of living in a clan.” Goldberry murmured with a thoughtful sadness to his voice. “Even if we continue on in Starclan, it is hard to lose the ones we care for so deeply. It is something that I know you will go through, with a friend or perhaps even one day with me, when my time comes...but I want you to always remember that you belonged here, among the pines and brambles, among the shadows. So long as your heart is here, you will never truly be alone.” The warrior promised with a kind tilt of his head. Brittlefoot cursed a bit as he stumbled on his hind legs to reach a bit higher. He puffed out a breath as he called to Ratmask. “You’re pretty far into Lilypaw’s training, right? Is she meeting your standards?”

Tumblefoot smiled gratefully at Goldberry's words. "I hate to think how hard it must have been for Northstar to leave us." He paused and looked up at the sky, ear flicking almost sadly. "I don't want to think about losing anyone else...I'm not ready for it..." He looked back at Goldberry and smiled. "So, I'm sure there will be a lot of time between now and when lose someone else again."
"She talks back, she doesn't listen, she thinks she can do things on her own, and she's trying to outsmart me at ever turn." Ratmask growled through his teeth as he dragged a bramble with his jaws. He spat it out and looked flatly at Brittlefoot. "Yes, she's meeting my standards."

"That is always the best we can hope for. Come on then, I want to see how well you've been keeping up with all I've taught you." Goldberry hummed in agreement, moving to nudge Tumblefoot onwards with his muzzle. "The only thing that shall be losing anything is the next piece of prey we bring back to the clan." He teased softly, flicking his ears as he began to see the tops of Carrionplace, and scent the acrid scent of crowfood.
"Your standards just might be the strangest in the clan, though with who mentored you, I'm not as surprised as I expected to be." Brittlefoot chortled, taking the bramble from the younger tom and pulling it into place amongst the wall of the den. "Strange though. Lilypaw always seemed so gentle and sweet. Are you telling me she's actually a schemer?" He humored.

Tumblefoot chuckled lightly and nodded. "Alright, alright." He followed after his former mentor once again.
"The first mistake cats often make is underestimation." Ratmask snorted and moved back to gather another bramble. "Especially with cats like me and Lilypaw."

"There's plenty of prey scent. It seems we're shaping up to have a bountiful newleaf." Goldberry admitted, detecting the traces of rat and mouse amongst the crowfood scents. He nodded to Tumblefoot. "We'll try and get them running out of their hiding holes, if you would like to wait for me to scare them out for you to catch."
"Ah. That's true! I guess I shouldn't be the one assuming one's strength, huh?" Brittlefoot felt his pelt warm with a hint of embarrassment. "You'll have to show me just how well you can do in a fight one day. Ah...though, hopefully I won't be too easy of a challenge with my own setbacks." He looked at Ratmask for a moment before his eyes widened ever so slightly. "Uhm. Looks like one of your furballs is coming this way."
Lightkit scampered towards her father and Brittlefoot, her eyes wide with wonder as she watched them reach up towards the dens. Sneaking away from Leaffrost had been the easy part, though now her curiosity was making it hard to keep up with all she was getting into.

Tumblefoot nodded. "That sounds like a great idea." He flicked his tail rather enthusiastically. It would be fun to chase after the scared prey--though, they were easier to catch than beetles.
Ratmask had his mouth opened to snap back that was too clever to get into fights, but at the mention of a little furball, he visibly tensed. Ears falling back, Ratmask turned around to face Lightkit, Longkit peering curiously from the elder's den. Ratmask grit his teeth. "Go back to your mother."

(Hi everyone! I have everyone open if you guys wanna start any posts. Unless you want me to start some!)
"Alright then. Station over there." Without a tail to point, Goldberry thrusted his muzzle towards an empty space near one of the piles. He then turned to pad towards the tower of crowfood and twoleg scraps. He peered curiously at a shiny twoleg scrap for a second, before he focused on the hunt once more. He steadied himself near a gap in the pile, before he gave a deep hiss to flush the rats out.
"What are you doing?" Lightkit asked curiously, letting his order fly over her head. She looked up at her father excitedly. "Are you making a new den? Can I help?" She pleaded, working her white paws against the dirt and grass of camp.
