Alexa just shrugged letting it go, "well then, I guess he won't be running at night for a while then?" Maybe he had learned his lesson and she wanted him to be safe.
(I can't remember, how intense or not intense are we doing for a mate bond?)
---
Amelia was disappointed when he pulled away but also grateful because it gave her a chance to breathe. She turned her face up to Casper and gazed into his eyes as well. She couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face, she didn't think there could be anything that could wipe it off for a long while.

(I think we should start it off with it being a low level feeling. Like they both have this strange urge that the other is important, and they want to make sure they're okay. Then the more they get to know each other, that bond will grow stronger to the point where they, or Dallas at least, realizes what that feeling signifies. When that happens, he's all protective mode one moment and a flustered fool the next. XD)
"Of course, not. Stitch won't let him out of the house for a good week, I'm sure," Matthias responded with a small smirk.
"Two weeks just for the fact that he interrupted a good night's rest," came a muttered voice from the entry way of the kitchen. In walked a tall man with shortly cut blond hair and brown eyes. His face was clean shaven and there were signs that told he had been up half the night on his face.
Matthias nodded in his direction. "Two weeks," he amended, hiding his smile by taking a sip of his coffee. "There's plenty of breakfast if you want it. Do feel free to join us so long as you don't take you sleep deprived frustration out on the innocent."

Her smile held an endless world of possibilities to him, a world Charles knew he could only wish for. It hurt him to see it, but at the same time, he treasured it. "I can hear your mother demanding grandchildren now," he joked, chuckling to break the silence between them.

(It looks fine to me!)
Anya, unlike her mentor, chose to wait for the results of her test by sitting, leaning against the exterior of the council chamber. To her, she felt like things could have gone better. She had been incredibly nervous, and she was sure it had affected her performance. How badly it had affected it, though, was what they were waiting on. "Does it usually take this long?" the young woman asked, growing more worried by the minute. The longer it took, was it a good or bad sign? . "What?" Alia asked distractedly. Then Anya's question registered and she paused her pacing long enough to answer. "Oh. Yes. The Elders tend to argue as much as discuss such things, which always makes their decision making take longer." She started pacing again. "Doesn't make the wait any less annoying," she added in a mutter.

Alexa couldn't help but let out a giggle at the extra punishment Dallas was given because of interrupting sleep. She doubt they could keep him in if he really wanted out and she wanted to see him try but she wasn't going to around long enough for that to happen. She would hopefully be gone by today or tomorrow if her car was fixed. She let the two men talk and took a bite of food. It was really good and she said so out loud. --- "You're right," Amelia laughed, "my mother would be. I think she's already started making plans." She couldn't step away from him, even though the silence had been broken, she didn't want to ruin the moment by stepping away. It was a glorious one she wanted to stay in for as long as possible.

"This lovely ray of sunshine here is Stitch," Matthias introduced. "He's our own personal doctor. Stitch, this is Alexa. It's thanks to her that Dallas was found before he lost too much blood."
Stitch turned his head to look over at the girl, nodding in acknowledgement. "Thank you for helping him," he said. Despite his grumblings, he would have been just as torn up about the loss of Dallas as everyone else would have been. The young man, while able to get on people's nerves when he wanted to, was well loved by the Pack. He was also the youngest, and everyone took some pride and sense of protection over him. "The wounds weren't too bad, but without you helping to slow the bleeding, it could have been worse."
~*
Despite his wants to stay where they were, Charles knew it wouldn't be good if anyone saw them like this. They were still in the age where scandalous rumors would spread if anyone were caught embracing this way. While it might not be so bad since they had been playing the roles of a courting couple, if these rumors reached the castle somehow, it would spell disaster. So he slowly loosened his arms from around her, taking half a step back. "Speaking of which, we should be getting back. Wouldn't want her imagination to run too wild, now do we?"

Alexa brushed it off like it was no big deal but it was. "I just did what any decent human being would do, I'm sure there would be plenty of people willing to help him. But I didn't realize the cut was that bad either." She was now happy she couldn't tell how bad it was in the dark, she probably would have been more freaked out.
---
Amelia sighed disappointed that the moment was over, all because of her mother. But who knows, maybe now instead of pretending it could actually become real and they wouldn't have to act at all? "I suppose we should. We don't her planning the wedding quite yet I suppose," she joked trying to lighten the mood, or her spirits at least, which she did.

"Still, it is appreciated. Although, you should hear those words from Dallas himself," Stitch said as Emma placed a plate of food in front of him. He nodded his thanks before beginning to eat. "He should wake up sometime this afternoon."
"That'll give us time to figure out what's wrong with your car," Matthias commented. "I've already been in contact with the body shop I work for. A tow truck has already been out and taken it there. All that's left is for us to go take a look at it. I should be able to find the problem and hopefully repair it there. If I can't, then one of the other mechanics should be able to."
~*
That comment made him laugh, and he just hoped it didn't sound too wistful. "Perhaps we can try to see what plans she has made over dinner," Charles said. "That is, if you think I'll be welcomed to dinner?"

. "I know," Alia replied sympathetically. "I was there, remember? But I think you did great, if it's any consolation. Worst comes to worst, we'll just —"
She didn't get the chance to finish. The chamber doors swung open, and one of the Elders joined them in the hall. Alia let out a silent sigh of relief when she saw it was Valias. He rarely gave bad news; Ronin and Diaspro were always assigned that role, for they actually seemed to enjoy departing bad news on others.
Valias nodded a curt greeting to Alia, then focused his attention on Anya. "Anya Dorreh," he started. "The Elders have conferred, and we have come to a decision." He paused, and a hint of a smile appeared before he continued. "Your test has been deemed a pass, and you are free to head out into Alagaësia with your mentor to complete your training."

Right, Alia had witnessed the entire thing. Her mentor had seen first hand how her nerves had affected her performance. During their training, she had been much better, steady and focused and decent. She was far from a master of the skills she had dedicated to learn, but she was okay for the amount of time she had been practicing them. Honestly, she had made a lot more progress with it all than she had even expected. Which only meant that her nerve-racking efforts on her test were much more embarrassing to her.
When the doors opened, revealing one of the Elders, Anya quickly hopped to her feet. Her stomach was thoroughly tied in knots at this point, and she feared that any answer wouldn't be enough to remove them all. She had no idea which Elder this was, even though they had briefly introduced themselves before the test began. She had been far to focused on other things to match names to faces. As he spoke, the young woman listened carefully, trying to keep her expression neutral. Was that a smile that tugged his lips? Or had she imagined that? And then the answer to her questions had been answered: she had passed. It took a couple of seconds before her brain fully comprehended the words. "I passed?" she echoed, almost expecting him to say he had misspoken. She glanced to her mentor as if to confirm it. Slowly but surely, excitement bubbled to the surface. "I passed!" she repeated, this time breaking out into a huge grin. Looking back to the Elder, she gave a quick respectful bow. "Thank you, sir. Thank you so much!"

. A real smile appeared on Valias's face at that. "There is no need to thank me, Miss. Dorreh. You did well, and earned your pass. You may leave at your leisure in two days, and your only rule is this: you must remain with your mentor at all times. Is that understood?"
He glanced at Alia as he asked it, informing her that that rule was twofold: Alia couldn't wander off and leave Anya alone anymore than Anya was allowed to go off on her own.
Alia quickly nodded. "Yes, sir. Understood. But uh..." She hesitated, unsure if her question would be accepted. When he only continued to hold her gaze, his stare curious and unwavering, she asked, "Just how close do we have to be?"
Valias chuckled. "Don't worry, you needn't be joined at the hip. But this isn't meant to be a vacation. It is a training expedition, and we expect you to train. The Circle will be providing you with the funds you'll need to stay at various inns during your travels, and while between training sessions you are free to do your own thing so long as it doesn't require either of you to leave the town you've chosen to train in at any given time. My apologies. Does that make more sense?"
Alia smiled and nodded. "Yes, thank you. Understood."

(No, your posts have been fine. You've got all these other characters to use, and I just have one, so I feel like I'm not doing much of anything. XD)
Anya hadn't caught sight of the Elder's gaze shifting behind her. She was far too busy looking back and forth between him and Alia to notice. It was all she could do to keep herself composed. All her nervous energy had converted itself into rambunctious, giddy excitement. She managed to keep it contained until the Elder took his leave, returning to the room he came from. As soon as he was gone, however, she couldn't hold it back. A small, thrilled squeal escaped her as she hopped a little in place. At the moment, she was too excited to really know what to do. The woman was going to say something at the same time Alia was, but stopped as soon as she heard the voice behind her.
Jumping and turning out of fright, her grin fading as she discovers Seth, who had not been there a moment ago, standing right behind her. "Gods, Seth! I. Told. You. Not. To. Do. That!" she exclaimed, emphasizing each word with a hit to his arm. However, despite the spook, it wasn't enough to keep the grin from returning, full force, to her face. She was far too happy right now to let his antics ruin it.

Some people complain about the noise a city can offer. The traffic, both foot and vehicle in nature, was too overwhelming and too chaotic. Destiny, strangely enough, found it comforting. Walking among the crowded streets, hearing the deafening sounds of conversations and engines as she passed by gave her some sense of relief. Even if she didn't feel up to traversing the city, she still pushed herself to leave the house, to use her free time to submerse herself in the world as she could. Who knows when it would be taken from her. High school used to give her an excuse to stay out and about nearly everyday. If she wasn't at class, then people worried. However, she had graduated less than three months ago, leaving her with nothing for a while. She still had errands to run, but her time out had decreased for a time. Now, the need for a job had cast the young woman out once more, giving her a small hope that she clung to since her father had declared it a necessity. So here she was, weaving her way through the crowd, dressed in clothing too warm for the current summer season, and hunting for any place she thought she might have a chance in acquiring a job.
~*
Matthew sat on his porch, nursing a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The sun was just peeking over the horizon, but it had yet to pierce through the thick trees of the surrounding forest, leaving his humble home still in the shadows of night. All around, the sounds of birds filled the air. Little else stirred. It was these moments where he found true peace. Until the duties of being a Ranger called him away to take care of some problem or another. At least he wasn't alone in that work currently. Three months had passed since he had taken on an apprentice, and it was safe to say it had been a journey. It was one thing to be a mentor, it was another to be a mentor to a fourteen year old girl. Being the only child and with very few close female relatives his own age, this was an experience. For the most part, it wasn't that much different than how he would have trained a boy, but there were details of the living space and training that he had to think about that he might have never had thought of before. It was a learning process for the both of them, it seemed. But he was willing to learn. After all, the girl was showing promise in her abilities and was good company. Hunter let out a small puff, wiping the sweat off of his forehead as he stacked the final crate behind the local museum. Now that it was summer, the exhibits were rotating, and with the number of crates that needed to be cycled out, it was an all hands on deck situation. Although Hunter officially just worked security, even he had been pulled into the madness, though this had been the last of it. He let out a bit of air as he stepped back and admired his handiwork, before heading back around the side gate through to the street. He was nearly done with his shift. All he needed to do was update his supervisor and he was done for the day. The streets were as crowded as you'd expect in July, and he had to shoulder his way through the crowd to make his way back to the front of the building. -- Soon after, Emma trudged out of the nearby woods, her arms laden with timber brush for the fireplace. The young apprentice's face was smudged with dirt and her hair was frizzy from the early morning moisture, but she had a smile on her face, and although it was three months old, still wore her ranger cloak with pride. "I got the wood, Matthew." She greeted him cheerfully, her voice muffled by the cowl of her cloak. Setting the pile of kindling down beside him, she moved the offending cloth out of the way. "I saw a stag in the woods. A big one." She informed him, eyes sparkling. Emma was an avid hunter, though stags were usually reserved to be hunted by royalty. So she had refrained, but it hadn't stopped her from tracking the great beast from afar. Her journey took her down the street that led to the museum. Destiny had always loved the place. To most of the students of her class, they complained about how boring the exhibits were, but to her, it was the most exciting place she had been. It gave her glimpses of the past, showed her the tales of people who lived before her, showed her the world in a nutshell. Boring as it might have been, it was a place she could always find something to distract herself with, a place to get lost in. Nearing the huge building now, the young woman studied it. She didn't entertain the idea of working there. There was no way she could know everything the rest of the employees knew about all the exhibits. Nearly anyone she had asked inside could tell her details that awed her. The best she could hope for was a cleaning job, which would have still be better than nothing. However, she scratched the idea before it formed. And what would happen if she had to call in sick one too many times? No job would be pleased with it, and she certainly didn't want to get banned from the place. No, she would start somewhere else. Somewhere that would have lower expectations and more in need of someone to work.
All of this she considered as she passed by the building, lost in the preparations and planning of what she needed to do. It was no surprise when she felt herself run into someone, bumping into them, not forcefully, but enough to know she disturbed them. "I'm sorry," she quickly apologized, glancing up and expecting to see any annoyed stranger. Instead, she found a familiar face. A face of one of her classmates. Hunter had been his name. She had shared several different classes with the boy. He had struck up some conversations with her in the past, invited her to share lunch with him and his friends a couple of times, and had been a decent guy. She neither avoided him nor sought him out, but was always glad whenever they shared group projects.
~*
The sight of said apprentice walking through the morning shadows, burdened down with timber brush, brought an amused smile from his face. Matthew had to hand it to Emma; she was determined and eager for the work. It made training his first apprentice easy. "And half the forest floor as well judging by your face," he teased. Taking a final sip of his coffee, he tossed the dregs onto the ground before standing. He handed the cup to Emma. Then took the kindling pile for himself to carry it inside. "A stag you say? We'll have to keep an eye out for it. Winter's drawing nearer, so the people around here might be tempted by it. How big was it?" (Here you go, Sky! Here's the last few series of post for our plot. )

"Still, it is appreciated. Although, you should hear those words from Dallas himself," Stitch said as Emma placed a plate of food in front of him. He nodded his thanks before beginning to eat. "He should wake up sometime this afternoon." "That'll give us time to figure out what's wrong with your car," Matthias commented. "I've already been in contact with the body shop I work for. If I can't, then one of the other mechanics should be able to." ~* That comment made him laugh, and he just hoped it didn't sound too wistful. "Perhaps we can try to see what plans she has made over dinner," Charles said. "That is, if you think I'll be welcomed to dinner?" "Okay, and thank you so much again for letting me stay here," Alexa said nodding in agreement with what they said. She hoped nothing was to terribly wrong with her car. A night or two here is okay but she didn't want to be overstepping any welcome and she just needed to get further away even if nobody knew her. She was also looking forward to seeing how Dallas was doing with her own eyes however and was willing to stay longer to make sure. --- Amelia laughed, "don't you know who my mother is by now? Of course you'll be welcomed for dinner. Every day she hopes you join. She just loves you." She felt bad about deceiving her mother all this time even though that was the purpose but after what just happened, she most likely wouldn't need to feel guilty anymore.

"Of course, dear. Don't even worry about it," Emma said. "Our home is open to any who need it. Now, eat up before the rest of the house wakes up. Otherwise, we won't have a moment of peace for a while."
~*
Charles chuckled. "Yeah, I know. I just thought it'd be best to ask and be sure," he said. As extreme as her mother could be, he had grown fond of the woman. She had opened her home to him, did her best to answer any of his questions, and taught him plenty of things while he had known her. "So, shall we get going?"

Alexa laughed and did as she was commanded. She was glad their house was open to anyone, and to her, but she didn't want to be there long. Rocky finished his food and wagged his tail back over to her while panting with excitement. He stuck his head on top of her leg and she scratched his head while she ate.
---
"Of course," Amelia grinned, "can you grab your painting?" She grabbed her own and her bag of paints and brushes to take back with her. She didn't want to risk ruining either of their paintings.

The rest of breakfast was filled with idle chat, mostly between Matthias and Stitch. When the doctor had finished eating, he excused himself from the table to return to his portion of the house. While he was going to be fine, the man still wanted to keep a close eye on Dallas's wound for a while.
"Whenever you're ready, Miss Alexa, we'll go get your car," Matthias told her, taking his and Stitch's plate to the sink to wash.
~*
Charles looked at his painting and debated a moment if he even wanted to take it with them. Then he decided better to take it than to have him just completely waste her supplies altogether. So he took the canvas, mindful of the wet paint, and helped her gather up everything they had brought with them.

Alexa finished not too long after them. She wasn't the fastest eater so she was glad there was no race. "I think I'm ready to go now," she answered Matthias. She stood up as well and carried her plate to the sink. They could get her car and hopefully the mechanic would know what was wrong with it.
---
Amelia hadn't lied when she said his painting truly wasn't that bad, it was good for a first time and having no painting experience before. She knew he didn't see it that way however by the look on his face when he stared at it. Once they had everything ready to move again she said, "let's go." She then descended the hill back toward the city gate while making sure her painting wasn't smudged either while she carried everything.

"Yes, I do," Alexa answered. She never went anywhere without her keys, mostly because everything she could need was on them. "I'll just run back up to the room real quick and grab them." She then proceeded to do just that. She arrived back in the kitchen not too long later with them and said, "got em!"
---
Amelia had no clue that their time was drawing to a close anytime soon, in fact, she was thinking the exact opposite might be happening now. She may have protected her heart better if she knew what was going to happen. It wasn't too long of a walk before they reached the gates and then the inside of the city walls.
