(Maybe as that was what happened that made her parents want her to be put to work instead of running around all the time. Maybe Anaris and Thayer were getting into trouble, and one day it could have ended very badly for both of them. Thayer took all the blame for it, to protect Anaris because of her position and reputation she had to uphold, and her parents had to do something to get her to stop. It'd be an interesting piece of backstory to come up with.)
(As much as I love and adore Morgan, I'm going to chose the net day with Silas. XD It'll advance the plot more and keep things interesting.
Welp, then it's a good thing we added that complex piece of family history to her, otherwise it wouldn't have taken him long to find out everything about her. XD And at this point, Silas will have spent more time with her than Seth will, only furthering his irritation, lol.)

(Oh, yes, I like this a lot. x3 Okay, so what should be going on when we start? What should be happening/about to begin?)
(Sure! I don't mind. ^^
Because he's too focused on himself at the moment. XD I love his logic, lol.)
When the next day rolled around, there was a noticeable improvement on Anya's behavior. The morning's training was still cold and distant as it had been for the rest of the week, but even sweaty and slightly out of breath, the young woman arrived to the field Silas told her to go to with a small smile on her face. The flight with Morgan and Kyon had done a lot to lift her spirits. It was good to have that kind of socialization since her time with Seth had been non-existent. She was used to having at least one brother around her, making her laugh and engaging her in some kind of conversation, so the lack thereof had been getting to her. Morgan had done a nice job filling in, and she hoped they would have time to hang out again soon. But right now, she had lessons to attend to. Corrik accompanied her, as she had expected. There was no way he was going to let her come alone to a magic lesson taught by someone he had not yet meet. He might have tolerated Morgan and Kyon when he knew they posed no immediate threat to his Rider, but this one was different. Besides, if Anya still needed to draw magic from him, then he wanted to be next to her so it wouldn't be as difficult. Not to mention if she lost control of her anger again, he would have to try and intervene.

It was a typical day in the life of the Queen, meetings, meetings and more meetings. Letting out a sigh she got out of her bed as her Lady in waiting came in the room.
"Good morning my queen, your meeting is soon so we must get you dressed." The blond haired girl said as she pulled out clothing for Anaris.
"Yes I know, another meeting, just like yesterday." She grumbled getting out of bed and letting the woman dress her. Anaris didn't really like being dressed by someone else, but it was the poor girl's job and who was she to stop her from doing her duty. Once she was dressed and ready to go to the room for the meeting she did just that. This meeting was going to be a lot, the person she'd be speaking with had once before declared war on her kingdom when her father ruled and now they both needed peace for the betterment of both sides. Anaris was not looking forward to it in any way. Pulling herself together she straightened her shoulders and let out a deep breath as she the doors to the meeting were opened.
"Thank you for waiting, I Queen Anaris Vass welcome you to Caela." She said as she walked through the doors. She wore a long dress that trailed on the ground, it was a deep orange color and left her midsection mostly open. The only thing covering her midsection was a thin sheer yellow material that was layered over the skirt, torso, and shoulders. Anaris smiled softly as she made her way to her chair, this was her diplomacy act; formal, sweet, but firm. Of course, she'd rather be in her regular clothes to regular person things. Like fighting in the square or something. Now in this culture that wasn't out of the ordinary but for a queen to fight in the middle of the square with commoners wasn't well liked. Maybe we some of her guards who would typically go easy on her.

Thayer had known of the meeting today. When were there not meetings for the Queen to sit through? That reason alone, she was glad to have gotten out of her father's household. Sure, her titles and inheritance were still there, but the duties of a minor noble were lifted from her shoulders as she began part of the Royal guard. All said duties now fell to her sister's shoulder's, but her twin seemed to enjoy those tedious jobs. Lady Thayer Lomalet was only a name used in social settings she couldn't avoid and official documents. Now it was Thayer Hawkthorne, a name given to her through training and found comrades of her field. To be honest, she much more preferred this name. It was said comrades that had kept her late for the meeting.
While she was the highest ranking of the Queen's guard, she wasn't the only one. So, last night's shift had been entrusted to a man who had been a guard much longer than she, a loyal soul to the Royal family for years. He watched the Queen while she went down to the barracks for a break. She hadn't known that when she arrived, there was a group raging a mock wrestling match in the small courtyard. It was her nature to watch, make a teasing comment about one's poor form, and get dragged into the fray. When all was said and down, she had ended up tired, bruised, and triumphant. Not to say she won all her matches, but she wore both defeat and victory with pride. This, of course, caused her to oversleep. By the time she dressed and fetched Quill, the meeting had already begun.
The diplomat she was meeting sat in one of the chairs. At the arrival of the Queen, he stood and gave a formal bow. He was dressed in a rich fashion, but not in a way that spoke of wealth or power. He was, after all, only a messenger for his King. his clothing sported the colors of Peram, a deep blue, silk tunic, embroidered with silver scroll work along the sleeves and hems, a thick, grey woolen tights. The cloak about his shoulders was a lighter blue, held together with a silver laurel pin, the mark of his position and house he served. Black hair was smoothed and pulled back from his face and tied into a small tail. Brown eyes, while guarded, did not betray the same wariness he felt about this meeting. Yet when he spoke, his voice was level and polite.
"Thank you, You're Highness, for allowing me your time," he said. "I understand that this is not a easy matter to discuss considering the history of our countries, but I have no wish to disrespect your generosity in hearing my proposal. My king knows that it is likely you will not be swayed easily, and I am charged with gaining your full confidence. So, if you will have it, I plan to do just that." The man gave an easy smile, one given many times before, but not one that was forced. As he finished talking, there was a series of knocks on the door. Unknown to him, it was a pattern of knocks Thayer used to let the Queen know it was she who was seeking permission into the room. It often led to immediate and unquestioned entrance no matter what she was doing or who she was entertaining.

(The boy deserves to mope about after what he's been through, to be honest. xD)
Corrik recognized Gael from where he lounged in the shade. As the only other dark dragon in the Stables, it was hard to miss who he was. He was one that he hadn't made an attempt to mess with. Not for any judge of character, but because the other male dragon was much larger than he. Without the ability to communicate with others, he wasn't about to get into any type of confrontation with him. Now, he had no choice.
"We slept well, thank you," Anya replied, smiling at him and stopping a few feet from Silas. "Silas, this is Corrik. He's a bit of a grump, but he isn't unteachable. So don't be offended if he doesn't appear to be listening."

The Queen folded her hands delicately in front of her as the man spoke, listening. She was ready to hear his sale pitch of Peram's land and needs. Now both kingdoms needed each other. Caela needed their produce and wood, though she wasn't going to admit that right off the bat. That would show weakness, something Anaris was not fond of showing. It was true she would not be easily swayed in the least. She had other alliances who could give her the same thing, the only difference was that Peram was a more direct and efficient source. But what the country of Peram needed from Caela was a mystery to her. Perhaps they needed a better place to trade their goods? Money? Warriors? Fish? Or her boats? As she opened her mouth to speak she stopped at knocks came on the door.
Finally, what had taken Thayer so long? Probably a brawl the night before while she had the night off. The Queen closed her eyes for a moment letting out a soft sigh. "Enter." She said turning her gaze to look at Thayer. Her eyes darted to the side momentarily, still facing Thayer her face read, What the hell? You left me alone with. That!
"Forgive the intrusion, this is my personal guard, Thayer Hawkthorne. She is by my side at, most times." She said, of course, it had been rather odd that the Queen was alone in a meeting, this was simply because Thayer had been late. Of course, Anaris could hold her own this was a kingdom of warriors after all and she had to kill the king before her for the throne in battle. It had been a man who had taken the throne from her father, thus killing him when she was very young. Her grandfather had been the one to watch over Anaris and Kean, her brother. Her attention turned back to the man in front of her, with a soft smile she spoke, "I will hear you out, you have traveled far to speak to me so I intend to hear you out. Your king is correct in assuming I will not be easily deterred, so you now have the floor." Anaris sat straight her icy stare locked on the diplomat. She was not going to make this easy after the times her kingdom had been attacked by Peram soldiers. They would have to fight for her favor like everyone else outside her land.
In her home she was kind, Anaris loved her people and this showed. Often the Queen was found helping children or people in the farms. It had been that way since she was young. Noble families frowned upon how actively involved she chose to be, but the common folk and tribesmen loved her.

The diplomat, whose name was was Carvat, was just taking his seat when the knock sounded. He paused and turned his gaze towards the door when it opened. If he was curious or displeased with the sudden interruption, he gave no sign. This wasn't the first meeting he had been in that had been interrupted, although many weren't disrupted until far later.
Thayer tried to look apologetic, but it wasn't in her nature. Anaris was more than capable in handling things herself. The Queen was always the one who spoke. She was just here for the protection and a witness to the events and agreements that transpired. The annoyance in her accusatory gaze would have made many feel shame. However, Thayer had long learned that she wasn't truly upset. After the meeting, she would forget all about it. "Forgive me, my Queen. I had something to attend to in the barracks. Then had to retrieve Quill from the Falconer." She was dressed in simply. While the rest of the Royal Guard liked to wear their official uniforms, the young woman chose a different option. She wore a short sleeved tunic dyed a light brown, darker leggings, and her favorite leather boots. Around her waist sat her weapons belt. On her left hip hung a short sword and a dagger of similar styles. On her right hip hung a quiver of arrows. A long bow hung across her back. Not a tradition weapon of guards, but one she held a mastery for. Draped and wrapped around her shoulders in a Niko Mantle style was a cloak of forest green. The shoulders were padded underneath with leather so she could carry around Quill, the red-tailed hawk that was perched currently upon her shoulder. While the presence of Quill wasn't necessary, she liked to carry her bird with her instead of keeping him in his cages all day. She walked into the room, closing the door behind her before taking her position beside her friend's chair.
"It is perfectly alright," Carvat assured, watching the new woman take her place. Then his eyes returned to the Queen. "As you know, Peram economy has been in a steady decline over the past few years. My King has tried to solve the issue, but the problem persists."

Aye. xD Gael stared back at Corrik impassively, no hint of emotion in his ebony eyes. He was one of the most dominant dragons in the stables - overruled by none but Genevieve's brute, Ariss - and he liked to remind every dragon of that fact. He had not yet had an opportunity to prove his dominance over the black dragon, and so far, he had not had a reason to either. It was clear the younger dragon possessed no illusions of grandeur; Gael sensed no wish to raise within the ranks from Corrik, and so long as it stayed that way, he had no reason to bully the young dragon.
Silas only afforded Corrik a brief glance at Anya's introduction; he had as little interest in the black dragon as Gael. "Good," he replied. "A good night's sleep will go a long way to helping you with your concentration - which, whether Alia has told you or not, is the key to magic use. Are you ready to begin?"

So, it was money they needed, be it using her marketplace or by a loan of money. Or a trade depending on what Peram offered in return. Anaris nodded listening to the man as he spoke of the decline of his country. She'd been there before, when she took the crown Caela was not in the best place with its money. Far better off than her family before her thanks to the king she defeated, but not near to as wealthy as they were today. Caela had come far since she took the crown and her people loved her for this. Her grandfather had wasted money and men on war and conquest, all things he lost because he'd pushed things too far on all levels. For a long time Caela was the laughing stock of all the kingdoms, it was rather embarrassing to come from a lineage like that but she'd pulled things together and hopefully restored her families name.
"Yes, I have heard of Peram's struggle, how is it that Caela will be able to help your declining country and keep it from ruin. And. Why should we?" She said, all pleasantness was gone with the last part. There had been tension between the two counties for years, when Caela was at it's lowest point Peram attacked thinking they could get their money or worse the kingdom itself. Luckily the Caelan army was still strong at the time of the attack. Thinned out, but strong non-the-less.

(Eh, don't worry about it. It was a busy weekend for us too with Easter. So no worries. ^^ )
This made Anya paused. She had only had a few successful uses of magic, and one use had lead them to this moment. She wasn't sure if she should start with that information or not. As for the other attempts, well, she could call the magic, but after the fire incident, she had been scared to hold even the simplest of spells for too long. "I'm afraid that my knowledge and skills with magic is lower than you might have been lead to believe," she told him slowly. "I have called fire, but only once, and I've been working on simple spells such as levitating pebbles or other small items." She left out the use of her siphoning magic, which was the only reason why he was to instruct her, mainly because she was sure she would be unable to demonstrate it even if she knew how to trigger it.
(It's okay!)
Carvat gave a single grave nod at her question. It was a reasonable and expected question, one that he had been preparing for since he left Peram's capital. Years before, Caele had shown a weakness in its power. Instead of aiding the kingdom, Peram had used it as an opportunity to attack. At the time, they thought they had the funding, supplies, and soldiers to do it. They were almost correct, and that "almost" cost them dearly. The country hadn't completely recovered from the poorly planned campaign. Now, Peram was turning to the country it had tried to conquer in such for help. He certainly hadn't been given an easy task.
"You have every right to turn us away," Carvat answered. "You have every right to send your armies to our doorstep just as we did to you. But then the cycle would continue and neither kingdom would prosper. Just as you have brought a new reign to you people, we have a new reign, one that's willing to try and mend this blot from the history pages. It will never be forgotten, but it can be atoned for. That is why my king as told me to offer you whatever is needed to gain aid. Troops, trade, workers, safe passages through our waters. If it's power you wish, then there can always be the option of a future marriage alliance if that's what you wish. Although, if I may say, You're Highness, that option might be one you might be interested in. Nevertheless, it's on the table. We have plans for whatever you wish, and I will be willing to discuss any agreements in full details."

(He's not focused on hating Seth, that's why. xD. It's his defense mechanism, lol. Not to mention, it's not the easiest/most interesting point in the plot right now. Any time you feel like you need to skip or switch back to Seth, just let me know.)
Anya watched as a blur shot to Silas's hand, only to be revealed as a pebble. He had done it with ease, the way it should have been done. She nodded and took the stone from him. Holding it in her open palm, she took a steadying breath before setting to work. It was easier to find the trace of magic in her mind now. That, at least, was something good that came from her magical outburst. Finding it was simple, but it was controlling it that was a different story. The young woman didn't want to use too much magic at once, afraid it would go out of control. It probably wouldn't be a problem with a levitation spell such as this, but it still made her wary, which showed in her results. The pebble did rise in her hand, but the process was slow and shaky.

She might have a tent, but unless he missed something, she hadn't brought it with her. Matthias could tell something was off with this girl, but he didn't have any proof or reason to try and call her bluff. The least he could do was make sure she had a safe place to stay for one night. "I'm not about to lecture you or tell you how you live your life, but I'm not going to drop you off at some campsite. My conscious wouldn't let me sleep. Besides, I think Dallas owes you for helping him. There's a guest room just down the hall. Everyone else sleeps on the second floor, so no one will bother you. As soon as Dallas is patched up, the house will be quiet again. You're free to make it yours for the night, and we'd love to have you for breakfast. Then I'll help you figure out what to do with your car."
~*
Charles watched her sort through the flowers until she found one to her liking. He nodded. "Seems like a good place to start as any," he replied, taking it from her. "So what paints do we start with first? I'm guessing a nice yellow." The flower in question was a yellow, after all. It seemed like a logical choice. Alexa knew she was starting to tread on some dangerous ground so before it got even worse with her big mouth, she was going to stop where she was at. "Thank you," she replied, if she spoke more than that, something she didn't want to reveal may come tumbling out. "I will be gone as soon as I can." One night imposing on them was bad enough, she needed to back to her car as soon as she could. --- "How about since this is your first time, we start with a little outline of the flower? This way it is more like painting between the lines until you're confident enough to do without? Then we can move on to the paints." It was a good way to start Amelia thought, it's how she started and she was bad in the beginning. (Sorry! I had thought I had posted a long time ago!)

(Don't worry about it! I've done that more than once myself, so it's no big deal. ^^ )
Matthias just shook his head. He might be hearing some different opinions about this from the others in the morning, but he could handle that later. Right now, he wasn't about to let this girl, or anyone, spend the night somewhere sketchy. "There's no rush. Besides, if we have it taken to my place of work tomorrow, then you can tag along and get the full report of it. From there, we'll try and see what can be done while you wait. Until then, if you would like, I can show you to that guest room."

"Will points be deducted if I can't create a straight line?" Charles asked, joking. He couldn't, but he thought playful remarks and self-degrading comments would help mask the ache he was feeling in his chest. How could he just give all of this up? This freedom? This friendship? This girl?

(Okay. We don't have to be too specific if you don't want to with it. We can just summarize the info if it makes things easier. XD Depends on how stubborn Silas is, and, I'm assuming, he's top level stubborn. XD)
Anya let the magic fade as he asked his question. She figured there was no need to keep the demonstration going. "I think a seven, maybe?" she stated. She wasn't too sure how it would feel to use magic as easily as Seth or Silas seemed to wield it, so the woman had no idea how to compare the level of concentration. It was easier than her first attempt, yes, but where on the scale did her first attempt fall? "I can feel the traces of magic in my mind, and finding it isn't a problem. It's trying to form it that I'm not good at."
