(Oh, that reminds me! I was thinking maybe Tori could use one of those text-to-speech apps to talk to Alec, just while he's driving. That way they aren't sitting in silence for four hours.)
Alec glanced over at Tori when she sighed. He'd turned off the radio awhile ago, when all they'd been able to find was country stations, and had never bothered to turn it back on. It wasn't like the music was anything more than his fast talking, lame joking, and shameless flirting anyway. But he had been quiet long enough, apparently, for Tori tiger lost in her own thoughts. "Hey." He reached over and squeezed her hand, the hand he'd been so happy to fall asleep holding last night. He'd been too nervous to try and snuggle up all close to her, because he wasn't sure she'd want him to and besides what was he supposed to do if his arm went all pins-and-needles-y while it was under her or something? Still, waking up next to her definitely beat waking up alone, just like the songs said it would. "Penny for your thoughts?" he said, raising his eyebrows slightly.

"I've been there for five years unwilling," Flynn answered, not protesting her closeness. If she suddenly woke in the night, he would feel her move and hopefully wake as well. "I was found on the side of the road bleeding to death when one of those people found . They took me in, patched me up, and the next thing I knew, I was a shifter."
"You keep mentioning heights. Are we mountain climbing, or bungee jumping?" Sophia asked. As many times as she told herself to let the issue lie, she couldn't help but ask about the end activity. It was a mystery she was bent on solving.
~*
"My job to help a young lady out of the misery that is arranged partnership," Charles answered. "It's quiet dreadful, and I wish it upon no one. So I would be honored to play your love interest until you tire of me."
Anya's eyes widened as she took in the dragon before her. It was much larger than Corrik, and it's scales shown brilliantly in the sunlight, nearly dazzling her. She was absolutely mesmerized. Only when she spotted the Rider climb down from its neck and make his way towards her did the spell seem to release her. Her surprise never vanished as she studied the boy. Were those... cat ears on his head? She was just about to call a greeting to the strange boy when a loud thud sounded the landing of Corrik.
The black dragon snarled in the direction of the boy, closing the distance between him and his Rider in a few strides. He stopped beside the girl, lowering his head to level it with the newcomer.
"Yes, I have, and what a lovely sight it is," Finley returned in the same light manner. She had seen him plenty of times while missing his shirt, and the girl couldn't complain about it. She never tried to miss one of his swim practices whenever she was invited to tag along. At his offer to stay, she smiled. "If you stay, I might not let you leave," she informed him, which probably wasn't true. He could easily free himself from her room if he wanted to. "If you don't mind spending a few minutes, I wouldn't mind having you stay here."
Riley sighed and stood up. He moved closer to Samantha and wrapped his arms around her. The boy didn't say anything, however. Not yet, at least.
~*
"I know so. If the lawyers try anything funny, they could risk getting themselves arrested as well," James replied.
(You know, that has never crossed my mind until now. XD That would make car rides so much easier. I like that idea.)
At the touch of his hand, Tori glanced over at him. Holding onto his hand, she opened one of the hundreds of apps that would convert her text to speech. She didn't like using the app because of the poor, robotic tone the words were spoken in, yet she had caved in and got it before they left for the concert. If they were going to be driving as long as they were, she didn't want to force Alec into hours of silence. "I doubt they're worth that much," the mechanical voice spoke from her phone. It was smoother and easier to listen to than several others she had tested out, but the words were still so emotionless. "I was just thinking about everything waiting for us at home."

Miley looked at him in shock, " what were you doing on the side of the road? They didn't even try to contact your family or something to see if you had any?" That made her sad, her family sold her to that place. They were quite poor and needed the money. Having family that cared about you would have been nice.

OKAY I'M PICTURING THE VOICE OF THE PHONE I'M LAUGHING SO MUCH I'M PICTURING THE MEME ROBOT VOICE IT'S 12:12 HERE I'M RUNNING OFF OF LIKE FOUR HOURS SLEEP THAT'S WHY IT'S SO FUNNY short short short sorry - Cal's practice mates always gave him flack for when Finley tagged along or just showed up to practices, and Cal never cared. How, though, she was able to endure hours of sitting on the bleachers and watching them go wall to wall, wall to wall, he had no idea. Cal commended her for it. "Well, if you never let me leave, my murder is on my hands," he teased, "if your dad doesn't believe I was being held hostage." With a slight push of his hands, he made Finley scoot over enough so he could lay down. Did he mind staying a few minutes? Absolutely not.

(You're welcome, I'm a genius. *bows* ) "That much and more to me," Alec assured her, pressing a kiss to the back of her hand while he waited for her to finish typing. He pressed his lips together for a second. "Yeah... That'll be fun." His parents probably wouldn't be too pleased with their duplicity either. "We'll both probably be grounded till we're sixty. I'd still wait for you though. I bet you'd be a cute old lady. Unless my hot young nurse wants to run off with me, though. That would just be too hilariously embarrassing to pass up." He grinned over at her, hoping to lighten her suddenly damp spirits. But she was righ to be worried. Heather was going to ha e a cow. She'd probably had several by now already. He sighed and squeezed her hand tighter without meaning to. "I wish I didn't have to take you back. I wish we could've stayed in the hotel--time and school and everything else just...didn't matter." It had been like everything had just been suspended for awhile, even just a few hours, and they could forget everything except for just being together, just breathing and smiling and talking. It was a lot less stressful, that was for sure. (Haha! Red, contain yourself! )

"We are doing something like that," Daniel answered, "you're close, but not quite." They were really close to the place now and he saw someone. Before he let Sophia see it, he covered her eyes with his hands. "I can't let you see it quite yet, it'll ruin the surprise."
---
"Good to know," Amelia answered but smiled, "and I probably won't tire of you for awhile. I may need you for a good long while because my mother probably won't believe me otherwise if you're gone in a couple of days." She started walking but then looked back at him as something popped in her brain, "oh! That reminds me! Where are you staying while you're here? Or are you going to travel back and forth everyday?" She was correct, the village wasn't that far from here on horse so it would be easy for him to travel back and forth.

"I don't have the best background and have many enemies. One of them caught up to me and caught me by surprise," Flynn said. If he could chuckle as a dog, he would have. However, he was unable to do that at the moment. "As for family, I wouldn't have any of their contacts on me. They live far away, so I don't know if they still even live in the same place I last remember."
(XD That's what I keep thinking of too.)
In her defense, Finley had sat through countless numbers of Ty's swim practices, just like he had sat through her dance practices whenever he agreed to drive her home. They both had gotten pretty good at sitting there for two or more hours. It was actually relaxing for her to just sit back and watch him work at a hobby that might so much to him. Scooting over to give him room, she smiled at his comment. "Yeah, I wouldn't want that to happen," she said. "I love you too much to hand you over to my Dad's wrath." Her heart beat a little harder as the words left her mouth. Following his lead, she had kind of slipped in the words into a playful statement. She had no idea if it had been the right way to say it, but it was the way that felt the most natural for the moment.
Riley didn't reply. If he did, he would have only asked why she broke up with him in the first place, but that would have only kept them talking in circles. "So what are you going to do now?" he asked instead.
~*
James nodded. "In the meantime, do you want anything to eat? I was going to fix myself a snack before getting to work on homework," he said.
Tori couldn't help but laugh at the mental image of him running off with a nurse. "So you expect yourself to be either in a hospital or nursing home by the time you're 60?" she asked. "How bad did you let your health get?" His joking comment had helped ease some of the worry that had settled around her. There was no getting out of whatever punishment her mother had conjured up for her, so accepting their fate was the best thing to do. Even if she the idea of not returning home for a while did sound more appealing. "Just think, only one more year of high school, and we can go do whatever we want," she typed. No one would question their next step in life, whatever that might be. All she knew was she was definitely not living with her parents any longer than she needed. Of course, she probably wouldn't move far away. She couldn't see herself moving to a new state by herself. "I wonder if there's any way we can graduate early."
Sophia saw what he was going to do and stopped. The idea of being blind and having to walk on unfamiliar ground made her hesitant, but she trusted Daniel enough to not lead her into any holes in the ground. "I'm nervous now," she said playfully.
~*
"I will have to travel back and forth," Charles answered. "I have work to finish, so I won't be able to visit on a daily basis, but that could add to or story. The love-struck man traveling to see his lovely gal any free time he can. Has a charming ring to it." He laughed softly. The offer, he would admit, had been kind of a joke when he first mentioned it, but now he was a little excited about it. This was the most interesting thing he had been apart of for a while now. Plus, it gave him an excuse to leave the castle more. It was a win-win for the both of them.

"No need to be nervous," Daniel told her, "I'll make sure you get there safely and not step into any holes or run into anything. Alright?" He paused for a moment before continuing, "besides, we're almost there. You only have a few more feet to walk." By that he meant about a hundred but that really wasn't far.
---
"Alright," Sophia answered, "but I also don't want to take up to much of your time. And this is your last chance to back out, if you don't, I'll also make up a back story while we go along if that's alright. I'm pretty good at that." She already had one forming in her head. She could also imagine what her mother might say so it helped a lot.

Cal had never made one of Finley's practices before. He'd been meaning to, considering she sat through his practices on her own desire; he just couldn't make it. Finley, in the practices he could probably have swung when they were rehearsing for that night's recital, had told him not even to bother going because she wanted that recital to be a surprise. After Finley had moved to give him room and he'd settled facing her, and just as he was about to offer his arms to her, he heard what she said. It took him a quick moment, and a blink, to think through what she'd said. In the same casual and natural way he had, she had parroted what he'd said. After that heartbeat of a moment was over, Cal smiled and leaned over - which wasn't that far thanks to them being close to each other - and kissed her.

(sorry for shortness.)
~*
"By all means, give the backstory. I'll fill in any details if needed," Charles said with a grin. Okay, maybe he was a little too excited about this. Oh well, too late to back out now. "Whenever you're ready, I would love to meet your mother."
The smile he gave her seemed to be the one detail that shown clearly in the dark. It vanished the spark of worry that had flared when he hadn't said anything. Yet the moment his lips meet hers, words didn't seem to matter. She reached up to cup his face with one of her hands as she returned the kiss.
If she was being completely honest, she had been a little afraid about telling him she loved him. After all, the only other person she had said those words to had been to his brother. How many times had they whispered love confessions to each other in times like this. It was because of those memories that had made her hesitate to be the first to tell him "I love you."
"Hook back up with me?" Riley asked. "Seems like a funny way to put it, but okay then. Why would you be confused about your feeling for me? I haven't changed since we started dating."
~*
"Sounds good to me," James said. He turned and started to head out of her room to go back to the kitchen.

Cal had said "I love you" before. He'd said it many times, but he never really meant it. With Finley, though, he wanted to get it right. Cal knew he hadn't said it the way he'd wanted to - it had just naturally come out, which he hadn't planned on happening. All Cal knew was that the moment had to be right to say it, and he had had no clue how he would accomplish that. However, Cal was happy he had said it and had gotten it off his chest. He knew he could never compete with Ty - he'd been Finley's first love, and no doubt they'd still be together if he were alive; that's why he'd been hesitant to say it. But how that he had, he felt almost relieved that it was finally out there.
When he felt Fin's hand on his cheek, he momentarily forgot about the ban on him being in her room and the wrath that could be inflicted upon him by Mark. That little touch was important to him, a small mental reminder that he wasn't Ty and Finley had chosen him, knowing he wasn't his brother. This little moment was the most important thing right now. All his focus was based on right now. Cal placed a hand on her hip, the previous air of tiredness almost completely forgotten.

In response to his smile, Finley leaned forward to capture his lips in hers for a second time. "You're making it hard for me to let you leave," She murmured, pulling him closer to her. It felt so good to be close to someone. The feeling of being alone had become almost unbearable after Ty's death. For a time, she had lost hope of finding another person who could ever take his place. Now here was Cal, strong, kind, and sweet (even if he didn't want to admit it), feeling the space that had been empty for years. She was so tempted to just risk her father's anger and ask him to stay with her the entire night.

Are we thinkin that one of her parents finds them? (': sort of open ended ;-; - Cal laughed against her mouth when she told him he was making it hard for her to make him leave. Under normal circumstances, he would have had a smart remark to that, but right now he didn't really feel like pulling back, however slightly, to make his comment. Also, if he didn't pull away, that meant she wouldn't be able to tell him to leave. That was risky with the looming arrival of her parents, but Cal was still pretty confident that he'd be able to hear the garage door opening, or footsteps at least downstairs and be able to make his escape from her room. He brought his hand up to her cheek, too; he was still being cautious, seeing as they had the whole boundary thing. Cal didn't really set any - he almost didn't set any - but Finley had set a few, and he was aware of that. It was clear that he was holding back more in a way to give the reigns to Finley.

Well, Lexi would be the tamer of the two and probably wouldn't rip Cal's skin off, probably just scare him to death, but Mark could find them and completely freak out and throw him out (he could sort of get the ball in motion, too, saying he's reverting back to old ways bc ~if he really cared about her he wouldn't break one of the family's rules~) I'll leave the choice up to you but I kinda think if we want some drama it should be Mark - Yeah, Cal didn't hear the car door, or the door opening downstairs. He was much too focused on what he was doing to pay attention to anything else. Cal would've thought, if he hadn't lost track of time like Finley, they still would have had an hour, or something close to it, before they had to start being careful. Cal had ended up repositioning to where he was still on his side but was slightly over her. He had certainly gotten bolder.

(Mark it is! Time to channel my inner angery father. XD)
Finley gave no objections since they weren't really pushing the boundaries. Her hand had moved to his hair while the other arm draped around his neck. All the while, she had no idea her parents were home.
Now, her parents fully knew Cal was still here. It was kind of hard to miss the extra car in the driveway. They didn't freak out. Chances were, the two might have crashed on the sofa while watching TV. So they entered the house as quietly as they could to not disturb them. Only once they were inside and turned on some lights did they find the two young adults weren't in the living room.
"They're probably in bed," Lexi whispered to her husband. "I'll go see if Calvin is settled into the guest room." She was an optimistic person who trusted people easily. The woman had no doubts Cal would have agreed to take the guest room, or even the couch for that matter. Plus she wanted to make sure everyone was sound asleep and comfortable before calling it a night as well. Yet when she reached the extra bedroom, she saw it was empty. "Oh dear," she muttered, now worried.
Mark, while his wife went to check on their guest, traveled upstairs to make sure Finley was alright for the night. Even though she was nearly a grown woman, she was still his daughter, and he would always check in on her until she moved out. Upon reaching he top step, the man made his way to Finley's bedroom where the door had been left open. So you can imagine the scene he saw even without proper light. In fact, the lack of light actually made it a little worse. He fixed that problem, however, when he turned on the lights of the room while shouting, "What do you think you're doing?"

When Finley's hand traveled up to his hair, Cal had smiled to himself. One of his hands had found a resting spot right under her shirt on her hip, and that's where it settled for the time being as he traveled slightly lower to her neck.
However, the minute the light snapped on, paired with Mark's yelling, Cal jumped away from Finley, trying to put as much space between them as he possibly could, which wasn't much. When he ripped away from her, the hand that had been on her hip had accidentally pulled her shirt higher than it had been to start with, and that probably wasn't a pleasant sight for Mark. Nor was the fact that Cal, who'd Mark had clearly seen, had a rumpled shirt, swollen lips, and his dirty blond hair was messier than it usually was. Well, it probably helped, a little bit, that in the actual light it was evident that they were even both wearing shirts.
Cal froze like a deer in the headlights, unable to answer Mark; he was actually scared. Finley had spent enough time with him to be able to tell, if she was even thinking about him. Cal definitely wasn't thinking about Finley right then and there.

Aaron didn't stop at the sight of Corrik. He simply placed his hand upon the dragon's snout and looked directly into his eyes. Silfang watched, knowing that her rider wasn't in danger but, ready, just in case.

"Will do," Daniel answered, "I'll either do that or I'll lift you up but you need to keep your eyes close." He started walking her slowly, laughter being heard in the distance as they came closer but then it would disappear just as quickly.
(It's fine!)
---
"Alright, let's go then." She kept walking, going pass two more houses, before coming to a stop. "We're here." Amelia then walked forward seeing her mother at the stand selling things and stayed back a few feet until she was done selling her items. "Hi mom," she said stepping forward when they disappeared.
"Hi sweetie. Where have you been all day?" She then must of saw Casper behind Amelia and her eyes widened. "Is that a boy there? Is that why you've been gone all day? Or is this some stranger? Anyways, I think you should get to know them! Go for him! He's very handsome. How can you turn this guy down?"
"Mom!" Amelia yelled, stopping her. "Please stop. This doesn't help and you know I don't want you trying to set me up with anyone."

Finley shot up at the sound of her father's voice. If Cal hadn't reacted just as fast. If not faster, she would have probably hit his head with hers. She felt when her shirt accidentally lifted as he pulled away, but she felt if she tried to fix it, it would only serve to make her father more angry. As if her own appearance didn't do the job. She had a similar, messy look to her hair and clothes, and a possible mark on her neck that might or might not be visible. "Dad, this isn't what it looks like," she said quickly, even trying to shift herself to be able to stand up quickly to defend Cal if need be.
"Oh really? Because it looks like this punk is trying to take advantage of my daughter while we so gratuitously let him take her home!" Mark returned, his furious eyes locked on Cal. It was clear that they hadn't just started their little make out session, but all he cared about was how far it might have gone had he not arrived home when he did. He could also see the genuine fear in the boy's eyes. Good, he has a right to be scared, Mark thought.

Then you will walk back to your Dragon and wisely not touch me again, Corrik replied, snarling and knocking the boy away. It wasn't a hard throw, but he hoped it would get the message across that he was not found of contact with strangers.
"Corrik, stop it!" Anya shouted. She had not heard the exchange between the boy and Dragon; her mind wasn't strong enough to connect with another person's yet. But she was all too aware of Corrik's display of aggression. Quickly, she jumped from her horse's saddle, tied the reins loosely to a bush growing on the side of the road, and then hurried to stand by the black dragon's head.
"Okay, I get it. Eyes are closed," Sophia said. The sounds of laughter appearing and then disappearing both struck up curiosity and confusion. What were they going to do? It bugged her that she had no clue of this activity, and she felt as if she would kick herself for not knowing what it was whenever she was allowed to open her eyes.
~*
Charles allowed Amelia to enter the house first. He stayed in the street a minute or two longer to tie the reins of his horse to something so he wouldn't lose her. He found of his mare, and took a good deal of pride in her. Once she as secured, he patted her neck before following his companion. His eyes gazed around the interior of the house, taking in how crowded it felt with its low ceiling and small rooms. Then again, he was use to the spacious rooms of the castle. Every building felt small in comparison.
He could in fact hear her mother from where he stood just inside the door. And he was sure people on the street heard Amelia's shout. Turning his head to them, he offered a smile and walked over to them. "You must be Amelia's mother," he greeted, bowing slightly to her. It wasn't by any means a full bow, but it was enough to hopefully show the respect this woman deserved. "It's pleasure to meet you."

Right now, there was a plethora of things Cal could say, but he couldn't think of a single one that could justify what they'd been doing without digging his own grave. Even if he did, Mark wouldn't believe him; after all, Finley was his daughter and he was the boyfriend. Dads: hardwired to hate boyfriends.
Cal hated yelling. Hated it. He came from a family with a happy marriage who had little to no fights, but when Tyler died, there were screaming matches at his house every day for a long time between his parents. It put him on edge, and back when they happened a lot, made him panicky. "We - we weren't - I wasn't - " Cal started, looking at Finley, as if he'd get an idea of what to say by looking at her. It didn't help him one bit. She had the same look about her, and a pretty incriminating mark on her neck that definitely was not a birthmark. "I wasn't taking advantage of her!" Cal got out finally.

"And guilty I may be, but don't give up on me... We will still be thick as thieves."

"Then what exactly were you doing?" Mark asked. Of course, he was more or less setting the boy up with the question. Any answer would only give him fuel to his fury.
"I fell asleep on the couch, and Cal brought me up here so I could sleep better. He was going to go back downstairs to the guest room, but I was the one who wanted him to stay. We weren't doing anything, I swear!" Finley defended. Honestly, she was more or less an adult. Why her father was so upset, she didn't know. Then again, since she was an only child, he did have a right to be a little protective. Yet his shouting was more than a "little" protective.
"Don't think you're not in trouble either, Finley,l Mark replied, stealing a quick glance to fix her with his stern glare before turning back to Cal. "And no matter your excuse, it still doesn't dismiss the fact that I told you I never wanted to catch you in this room again."
