I'll be picking up on chapter 4. I know people generally know the gist of what's happening so if you have specific questions I can try to find them in the book and explain the best I can. I believe I'm allowed to post some pictures within reason as well.

Chapter 4: Ivypool and her companions had been stuck at their temporary den for about three days since the weather has been poor. She spots Rootspring trying to connect through the earth like the Sisters taught him, but he has no luck. Ivypool thinks to herself that Rootspring is a weird cat with weird habits, almost as weird as Tree, and how both of them have Sister blood. She mews that at least Rootspring gave it a shot. Dovewing then appears and asks to speak privately, leading Ivypool away from Rootspring, and she comments that Ivypool is usually such a leader and solving problems, but lately she seems quiet and distant, and asks if she wants to talk. Ivypool wants to talk about how much she misses Bristlefrost, but doesn't think she can admit that to Dovewing. She just says the weather is souring her mood and she wants to hurry up with their quest. Dovewing clearly doesn't believe her and says she wasn't interested when other cats put forth the idea of pushing on through the bad weather. Dovewing says there's clearly something bothering her, and the only way to resolve her feelings is to talk about them.
Ivypool breathes, and admits she doesn't understand how to properly grieve for Bristlefrost since Bristlefrost doesn't even exist anymore, asking what there even is to grieve. Ivypool gets angry and says Bristlefrost was a young cat with a promising future, and if she stops grieving, then Bristlefrost's memory is gone. Especially so since Bristlefrost has ceased to exist and the only remnant of her are the memories. Dovewing comforts her and says she feels the same about Rowankit. Ivypool then apologizes for not checking in on Dovewing when she lost a child of her own, and Dovewing says she does her best to keep her mind off it to avoid her mind going into dark places. Ivypool thinks that perhaps she just needs to take on more duties, but then worries she'll forget about Bristlefrost. Dovewing assures her that just because Ivypool is able to move on doesn't mean Bristlefrost is forgotten, citing Bristlefrost's other family and ThunderClan.
Icewing appears, and agrees with Dovewing, saying it's impossible to forget the fact you outlived your own child. Ivypool thinks about how Beetlewhisker was killed by Brokenstar all those years ago, and asks Icewing how she got over it. Icewing admits she never really did. Icewing says she's lost kits before, but Beetlewhisker stung the most because he ceased to exist and she'll never see her son again even when she dies. She knows that she can honor Beetlewhisker's memory by living her life, but also says that raising all her kits is her greatest accomplishment and she loves every single one of them. All of her kits will live on in memories of the living, including Beetlewhisker. Icewing then awkwardly says it's the method that works for her anyway, and when Ivypool tries to apologize for being absorbed in her own feelings, Icewing says it's not needed since it's simply a part of the grieving process, and it's a process she knows very well. Ivypool thanks the two for their advice, but says it still hurts.
Later on, Whistlepaw complains about being trapped in the den. Ivypool jokes that StarClan didn't give them a time limit to complete the quest, so they can just take their time. Whistlepaw's wounds had healed nicely, but Ivypool thinks to herself that visions tend to identify urgent problems and not things they can pawn off until a later date. Ivypool's belly rumbles and she thinks about how scarce the prey is. She had tried to fish in the river, but realized it was a waste of time because she lacks the skills. Dovewing and Rootspring come back from a small hunting patrol, and say they found shelter a little ways off in a twoleg barn, but scented dog. They do add, however, that they scented mice, and come nighttime they can probably get a bunch of prey. Rootspring and Dovewing aim to go back at dusk, and Ivypool joins them.
At dusk, the three cats approach the barn, watching a twoleg head into his nest. They head into the barn, catching a few mice, but then as Ivypool catches a fat mouse, a massive blow strikes her side. She sees a huge, well-muscled tom with long glossy fur, but his scent gives away that he's a kittypet. A fluffy orange kittypet tackles Rootspring, while Dovewing fights a brown tabby she-cat. The tom takes a step back, and says to quit fighting, and then says no cat needs to get hurt. Ivypool snorts he started it. The big tom introduces himself as Zeke, with the fluffy orange tom as Pumpernickel and the she-cat as Curry, and the barn is their hunting territory. Ivypool grumbles they smell of twolegs and why they need to hunt. Zeke says they're good at it, so why not? Rootspring snorts that killing fat mice in a barn doesn't take skill, unlike warriors. Zeke widens his eyes and asks if they're warriors. He asks Pumpernickel if they're the warrior cats he ran into earlier. Ivypool asks when Pumpernickel had been to the lake, but he says he hasn't, as he only recently moved here and met the warrior cats last season.
Ivypool assumes he's talking about the SkyClan daylight warriors, though then thinks they hadn't been using them since they moved to the lake. Rootspring accuses him of lying. Dovewing says clearly not, and Ivypool suggests they heard of warriors from Graystripe during his time away from the Clan. She asks if they're WarriorClan, but then realizes they can't be since they're not full warriors. Curry asks if she's implying housecats can't be tough, and Ivypool says she isn't implying it, she's stating it. Curry snarls and leaps at Ivypool, hearing Zeke and Pumpernickel attack Rootspring and Dovewing. After some fighting, Zeke lets out a yowl and Ivypool threatens them to go back to their housefolk since they can't match up against warriors. Ivypool then scents dogs. Zeke shoves off Rootspring, who had managed to clamber on top of him, and hisses that the three of them and the dogs have an arrangement where they finish off cats who don't respect their hunting territory. Ivypool says the kittypets aren't a threat, but the dogs are. Dovewing yowls to run.
Ivypool, Dovewing, and Rootspring grab their prey and bolt to their escape route, with the two dogs on on their heels. Ivypool doesn't want to lead the dogs back to camp by accident if they catch their scent. The trio scramble up a tall fence, leaving the dogs to bark at them for a bit before going back to their twolegs. Ivypool calls the kittypets mange-pelts for making deals with dogs. The three wait a bit for the dogs to go away completely, then begin heading back to their camp, with Ivypool checking behind them every so often to make sure the dogs aren't following them. Whistlepaw and Icewing are relieved to see them, and ask what happened. Ivypool begins to try and explain what happened, but the idea that kittypets made deals with dogs suddenly becomes so funny to her that she falls over laughing. As do Dovewing and Rootspring.
Icewing asks if they have bees in their brain. Ivypool says no, they just met some nasty kittypets. Ivypool and Dovewing share a glance, and Ivypool reflects that it had been a long time since she had a moment like this with her sister. Guilt creeps into her heart, and says mourning cats don't grieve, and it's wrong of her to have fun while her daughter is dead. As Rootspring and Dovewing finish laughing, Icewing points out that the sky is clearing, and they can continue on their way tomorrow. Ivypool agrees, and hopefully they'll find out what they're meant to do and she can focus on something that isn't her grief.

Ah I see, they don’t control the dogs per se, they just have an arrangement. Honestly makes sense if they’re all pets of the same twoleg, they don’t bother each other but the dogs will still run off other cats.

I vaguely remember something about Millie being able to talk with dogs, so I'd guess it's the same process.

Chapter 5: The rain still hasn't stopped. Rootspring suggests going back to the barn for prey, and Dovewing asks if he'd like to try and befriend Zeke and his buddies again. Whistlepaw suggests eating twoleg food, which earns her backlash from Ivypool, Dovewing, and Rootspring. Icewing tells them to cool it, and with all the prey hiding because of the weather, eating twoleg food is a more pragmatic option than starving. Ivypool says it's dishonorable and against the warrior code. Icewing asks if she'd rather starve. Inspired by Icewing's support, Whistlepaw says they can justify it by being on a quest from StarClan and surely failing a StarClan-given quest is worse than eating kittypet food. Ivypool sees her points, knowing that the three mice they got earlier wasn't enough. After some thought, Dovewing says Whistlepaw is right.
The five head out towards twolegplace. Near there, they spot a big rabbit. As they try to catch it, they spot two kittypets in their sights. Ivypool groans it's the nasty kittypets again. Unable to stop herself, Ivypool collides into the leading cat while the second one crashes into Whistlepaw. Rootspring trips over Whistlepaw, while Dovewing and Icewing fail to catch the rabbit.
The two cats Ivypool assumes must be brothers based on their similar faces and wiry bodies. Slate is a black-and-white tom, and Beach is a dark tabby. Ivypool notes they're of apprentice-age, but clearly weren't born in the barn. Slate apologizes for intruding on their hunt, but says they were going after the same rabbit. Rootspring says they're just passing through. Slate says it's fine, as they like making new friends. Icewing introduces the group. Dovewing asks if they're a part of that nasty kittypet gang. Slate says no, they don't hang out with anyone else. They're just two brothers who like hanging out and connecting with the earth. Beach adds that they like chatting with pretty she-cats, casting a glance at Dovewing. Dovewing snorts a laugh and says she's taken and she's old enough to be their mother at that. Beach doesn't seem to mind, but Ivypool cuts in and asks who trained the brothers to hunt. Beach says their mother. Slate begins to explain why they're out alone, mentioning that their old group consisted of she-cats and connect to the spirit world. Rootspring exclaims the Sisters, and says he's a descendent of Moonlight. Beach mews then they're kin. Rootspring and the two brothers begin talking about Clan life and why Tree left the Sisters.
Ivypool however, while happy Rootspring is connecting with them, doesn't understand what kind of mother would willingly let her sons go off by themselves just because it's a custom. She can't bear the thought of letting her own son doing that, and wonders why the Sisters are so fine with it. She spots a nasty cut on Beach's flank that looks like it could be infected. She then thinks of Flipclaw again, and how he was forced by Ashfur to become a medicine cat after he bullied and exiled Jayfeather and Alderheart out of the Clan. Poor Flipclaw had been out of his depth, and not much older than Slate and Beach when it happened. She feels guilty for not being there for him, but tried to be there for him to vent to. She hates the Sisters for throwing their toms away like rotten prey, and Flipclaw, as well as her other kits, are too precious for her to even think about doing that.
Because of the poor weather, Slate and Beach invite the group back to their camp. Icewing and Dovewing apologize for losing the rabbit. Slate shrugs, and says there will be others and they can help them all connect to the earth. Rootspring eyes Ivypool, as if to tell her just to reserve judgement for now. She thinks Whistlepaw could also look over Beach's wound. Slate and Beach are really excited about having guests.
The toms' den was in a rocky hollow, their den sheltered by a thick clump of gorse bushes. There was a small pool at the bottom, and the sides covered in dry grass and vines. Rootspring says it's a good camp. Ivypool however, wrinkles her nose at the stench. The brothers clearly didn't clean up after themselves. With a pang in her heart, she remembers how Flipclaw left a trail of destruction wherever he went when he was their age, or how Thriftear only cleaned up after herself when it was truly unpleasant. Ivypool mused that nobody had taught the brothers to clean up after themselves, so she ultimately can't fault them. Beach welcomes them in, and Slate says to make themselves at home while they go hunt prey. Rootspring wonders if they really know how to hunt. Dovewing says they clearly don't know how to clean, but she doubts the Sisters care enough about their toms to teach them basic things. Dovewing suggests cleaning the camp for them. Ivypool says they're not their mother, but they can teach them how and why it matters. Whistlepaw says she needs to look at Beach's wound before it gets worse. Icewing says she'll come with her.
Dovewing and Rootspring begin talking on how to continue the quest while Ivypool rests her eyes. Some time later, Slate, Beach, Icewing, and Whistlepaw come back. As they eat, Ivypool asks what they do with leftover prey. Neither brother seems to really understand the question. Dovewing says clearly nothing, and she's surprised there hasn't been any rats or crows in the camp yet with all the leftover rotten prey. Slate mews there was a rat in the camp earlier in the day, but it tasted horrible. Ivypool rolls her eyes, and says they're not tasty and can bite and spread disease. She says they need a fresh-kill pile, instructing them on how to keep it neat and tidy. Dovewing asks how often they change their bedding. Beach says he isn't sure. Dovewing groans they're supposed to do it every half-moon at least. Ivypool tells them to clean up the rotten prey and scattered bones too. Slate asks if they have to.
Ivypool says no, they don't, but it's better if they do it. She wonders to herself why the Sisters don't bother teaching their toms literally basic functions, and gets angry again about how poorly they treat them. Trying to not sound motherly, she insists it's not hard when they're used to it. Dovewing adds that when they bring she-cats over, it's very attractive that they look after themselves, asking them what's attractive in a mate. Slate says a bushy tail is, gesturing to his own bushy tail. Dovewing stifles a laugh and says no, a neat and tidy nest and camp is. Beach says it makes sense, and says he can start on one side while Slate starts on another. Ivypool laughs and thinks that they'd make good apprentices. Whistlepaw says Slate can, but Beach needs medical attention. Whistlepaw explains what a medicine cat is to Beach, and as she does, Ivypool muses that she sounds like Jayfeather. As Whistlepaw works on Beach, he tries to flirt with her by saying she has "Very tabby fur". Rootspring is amused, and says it's a very astute observation.
Slate says she has a nice tail. Whistlepaw says she appreciates the compliments but as a medicine cat, she can't take a mate or have kits. Beach is disappointed, but apologizes and says he won't continue his behaviour any further. Whistlepaw also says she-cats don't always like compliments from cats they just met. She says try to get to know them more before doing that. Dovewing agrees, and says to do activities together like hunting. Ivypool also says that not to look at her like she's a juicy piece of prey since it's weird, but to treat her as any other capable individual. Icewing softly says that they need to consider her feelings too, and ask themselves what she would like and if they can be a proper mate to her. Slate and Beach blink confused for a moment, and Ivypool feels pity for them as they clearly never learned the right way to behave, but at the same time, she can see they ultimately mean well. Ivypool suggests they come with them back to the Clans. They can become apprentices and there's plenty of available she-cats for them to fawn after. Slate, shocked, says they can't be tied down, but he appreciates the offer. Beach says freedom is living the dream.
Ivypool lets out a regretful sigh and says it's okay, but to let them know if they change their minds before they leave. Icewing says speaking of leaving, she'd like them to try and connect with the earth to figure out the direction to go. Beach agrees, jutting out a forepaw from being sprawled on the ground, and says he'll do it from there. After several heartbeats, Beach says he's got nothing and that the earth doesn't want to be connected with. Slate says he wants to try, pointing out a tangle of roots and bushes. Slate climbs up the roots, letting out a squeak as a thorn pricks his paw, then stopping halfway up the bush to try and connect with the earth. After a few moments, he dejectedly says he got nothing either, clambering down. Whistlepaw beckons him over and pulls out the thorn in his paw, putting some horsetail on it after Slate guesses what it is. She instructs Slate on how to help his paw heal and how to make sure Beach's wound remains clean. Beach says they can try summoning the spirits, letting out an off-pitch wail. Ivypool whispers to Rootspring that she doesn't think it's correct. Icewing says it's more likely to drive the spirits off, along with any prey in the area.
Rootspring rises to his paws, goes over to Beach, and nudges him. Beach dejectedly says it must not be working. Rootspring asks if they know anybody else who can help. Slate says the Sisters can. Rootspring asks if they're allowed to go back, and Slate says they aren't, but can visit, and the Sisters are pretty welcoming of outsiders and will be happy to help. Ivypool feels doubtful considering the last time the Clans got help from the Sisters, they warned them not to expect help again. Ivypool says they've met them before and know each other well. Beach gets excited and says they'll be on their way before they know it, but Ivypool wishes she could believe it.

I don't recall if this was confirmed in the earlier leaks, but Slate and Beach's mother is Flurry. Flurry also has a new litter consisting of two she-cats and a tom. Couldn't find a description for them.
The Sisters also think very highly of both Graystripe and Bristlefrost. Ivypool thinks it's odd they're admiring Graystripe. After the events of TBC they moved camps and eventually came into contact with the Cats of the Park, but found them weird and moved on. Tempest got a mate called Sweetums, who is a "long-haired white kittypet with a smushed-in face, and eyes the color of a sunny greenleaf morning". Sweetums wanted to come with Tempest, but she told him no.
The Sisters also summon Graystripe's spirit, and he encourages them to keep going on the journey. The Sisters are confused why they can't summon Bristlefrost's spirit.

Congrats on getting the book! Chapter 4 Aw, Dovewing and Icewing giving out some good advice. Pumpernickel sounds like a good name for an orange cat. And cats and dogs having an arrangement which just leaves Ivypool, Dovewing and Rootspring laughing. Lol! Chapter 5 Also, Slate and Beach. I actually thought they were Sunshine's kits since she had two in Daisy's Kin, but I guess not. They would be apprenticed age, though. So Flurry it is. I'm assuming Flurry's new litter doesn't have names. Regardless, Beach and Slate already want mates apparently. Beach immediately starts to hit on Dovewing and then they both start hitting on Whistlepaw. At least we now know who the dating advice was for. They are also being taught how to clean up properly after themselves. This is Flurry's first litter (or first known litter at least) and, according to the wiki, she was a kit in Squirrelflight's Hope.

Chapter 6: After spending the night in the smelly camp, Ivypool is grateful it's at least dry. Beach's injury has been healing very well. Icewing and Rootspring return with some prey, and Rootspring says it would be smart to bring prey as a present to the Sisters. After eating, the group of cats set out to find the Sisters. They pass the barn, and Ivypool asks the brothers if they met the kittypets. Beach says they have and says he got his wound from one of them. Dovewing says they should pick up the pace before the dogs pick up their scent, but it's too late, as they hear barking. Ivypool isn't sure if the dumb dogs scented them or the kittypets spotted them earlier, but it doesn't matter now. As a smaller white dog runs at Ivypool, she rakes her claws down it's nose. It yelps in pain, and Ivypool taunts it.
The small white dog runs away towards the barn yelping in pain. The bigger brown dog, however, has Slate grasped in it's maws and thrashing him about. Slate is too small to claw the dog back. Dovewing and Rootspring attack the dog while Icewing bites at it's legs. Whistlepaw holds Beach back from trying to go in to save his brother. Ivypool yowls a bloodcurtling scream and launches herself at the dog. Caught off balance, the dog throws Slate into the air and tumbles to it's side, exposing it's underbelly. Ivypool slashes at it while Dovewing claws it's ears, and Rootspring and Icewing claw it's hindquarters. The dog clearly has had enough and shoves the cats away, running back to the barn.
Rootspring thanks Ivypool for her help and asks where those fighting moves came from. Ivypool realizes with horror that in her fury, she had been using Dark Forest fighting moves. Icewing eyes her, but gives a small nod, clearly recognizing them. Ivypool thinks that her days of spying are behind her and she loathes knowing she trained in that horrible place, but her skills are part of the reason why Squirrelstar picked her as deputy. Dovewing asks if Ivypool's okay. Ivypool says to check on Slate first. Whistlepaw is checking on Slate, who is alive, but clearly shaken. He tries to insist he's fine, but Whistlepaw says he has puncture wounds on his neck that need to be treated. Rootspring says they need to get moving, lest the dogs or kittypets come back around, and Slate says he can travel.
Whistlepaw says the Sisters will have the herbs needed to help Slate. Dovewing and Whistlepaw flank Slate in case he falls, while Beach runs back to grab the mice they brought. Ivypool and Icewing keep up the rear while Rootspring leads. They enter a woodland, which while foreign, reminds Ivypool of ThunderClan. Whistlepaw finds some thyme for Slate, and despite his earlier attempts to flirt with her, she can see he admires her expertise and knowledge as a medicine cat. Beach begins to take the lead more as they go deeper into the forest, eventually coming across a long slope with rocks at the bottom with a stream. She begins spotting several cats relaxing. Beach, with Slate stumbling after him, yowl their arrival. Slate says they brought prey and visitors.
Ivypool recognizes Snow, who dips her head coolly to Ivypool. Snow mutters they're the last cats they expected to show up, asking why they're here. Dovewing begins to explain, but she's cut off by Sunrise eagerly yowling Rootspring's name. Two or three cats bound up after Sunrise to greet Rootspring. Snow thanks Slate and Beach for the mice and says they can visit their mother in the nursery, revealing that Flurry has had a new litter of two she-cats and a tom. The brothers race off to the nursery, and Whistlepaw explains Slate was wounded and he shouldn't be running like that. Ivypool is happy Slate and Beach haven't forgotten their family, but then gets angry with how the Sisters treat their toms. Snow takes the Clan cats to behind an old tree stump, behind what Ivypool assumed was Snow's den. Snow orders Sunrise to fetch Tempest and Moon. Snow demands the Clan cats to tell them what has gone on since they left last. Rootspring explains the defeat of Ashfur, but the loss of Graystripe and Bristlefrost in the process.
Sunrise says ceasing to exist is a cruel fate for any cat, and says she feels guilty since the Sisters helped the Clan cats cross into the Dark Forest. Dovewing says they honor the Lights in the Mist, but sadly Graystripe and Bristlefrost will never return to the Clans. Snow declares she has respect for Graystripe and he was an outstanding warrior, surprising Ivypool with how genuine Snow sounds. Snow adds that Bristlefrost was a brave young cat, and asks Ivypool to remind her if Bristlefrost was her daughter. Ivypool chokes out a yes. Sunrise mews that most of them have borne kits, and many know the pain of losing one, but Ivypool can be assured that Bristlefrost's spirit to comfort her. Ivypool wails that she doesn't since Bristlefrost doesn't even exist anymore.
Tempest protests that all spirits exist somewhere. Ivypool shakes her head and her throat closes up. She thinks to herself that the Sisters don't understand the Clans. Dovewing explains that a lot has happened since the Sisters left the Clans. Dovewing explains how Bramblestar stepped down, and Squirrelflight is now leader. Snow says she's sure Squirrelflight will be a fine leader. Moon suggests they do something to honor the fallen and their friends, such as a feast. Snow meows it's a good idea, and tells Moon to organize hunters while their guests catch up with old friends. Ivypool is surprised the Sisters regard them as friends.
The feast was surprisingly good, but meeting the Sisters again had brought back unpleasant memories of back when Bristlefrost went into the Dark Forest. Slate and Beach are curled up next to their mother, sleeping peacefully. She gets angry again, but pushes it away knowing she can't criticize cats whos way of life was so very different from the Clans. Snow explains they travelled for a while after leaving the lake, meeting the Cats of the Park, but found them weird and moved on. Moon and Tempest talk about Sweetums; Tempest's mate, who tried to come with the Sisters until Tempest told him no. Ivypool wonders how the Sisters even live when they move from camp to camp, never staying tied down somewhere. She thinks that she could never leave Fernsong, confused on how Tempest could just so easily leave Sweetums. She realizes how much she misses Fernsong, and that she never let him be there for her while she sneaked out to talk to Rootspring. Fernsong always put her and their kits above himself, and it isn't fair to him. When she gets home, she knows she's never taking him for granted again, and the Sisters are missing out on having a loving mate and watching their kits grow up. Ivypool still doesn't understand how a Sister can bear to send their tom-kits away, knowing she could never do that to Flipclaw.
Snow rises to her paws when the meal is done, bellowing it's time to summon Graystripe and Bristlefrost. She anticipates seeing Graystripe again, but doesn't know if the Sisters comprehend that Bristlefrost doesn't exist. The Sisters begin to form a circle while the Clan cats join Slate and Beach just outside the nursery. Dovewing asks if Ivypool is comfortable with this, and Ivypool confesses she isn't sure. Snow begins calling for the spirits of Graystripe and Bristlefrost from the afterlife. Ivypool is confused about the mention of the word "Afterlife", and Snow explains spirits can attend no matter what form they take. Dovewing and Ivypool are bewildered. Snow finishes speaking and rears her head back, letting out a wail. Ivypool realizes this is what Beach was trying to do earlier. Another cat joins Snow, then another, and another, until the whole circle is wailing. One of the Sisters then yowls "The sun is shining, and the water runs clear!". Ivypool mutters it sounds like a StarClan cat, but doesn't think Graystripe would come to tell them about the weather.
More cats join in, chanting words like "We journey through the sky; our paws touch the clouds!" and "Beware the fox; beware the snake; turn your paws toward the light!". Ivypool knows she should be in awe, but wonders how the Sisters will react when they realize Bristlefrost can't be summoned. Another voice rings out, and Sunrise says it's Graystripe. After a few moments, Sunrise tells the Clan cats that they need to keep going because their Clans need them. Ivypool, astonished, says it sounds like Graystripe. Dovewing agrees. For a brief moment, Ivypool feels hope, but it fades away as the Sisters repeatedly call Bristlefrost's name. Ivypool wonders if this is why she was chosen to go on the quest, since the Sisters know things about the afterlives the Clan cats don't. Ivypool silently chants Bristlefrost's name from under her breath as well. But nothing happens. The last scraps of hope fade from Ivypool as the Sisters die away, confused. None of the Sisters seem to understand that Bristlefrost is gone forever. Ivypool begins to feel worse than ever, and she's stupid for getting her hopes up.
Ivypool bluntly tells Dovewing she's had enough and she's going to bed. Beach tries to insist otherwise, saying it's great she's here, but Ivypool tells him no. She then feels bad with how blunt she was. Ivypool wonders if she's trying to replace her daughter with the two toms. They're both sweet and charming, but it's not right for her to do that. Bristlefrost was irreplacable. Curling up in her new nest made by the Sisers, Dovewing comes up to her and asks if there's anything she can do to help, and offers to stay with her. Ivypool says no, she's better off alone. Dovewing acknowledges this, and says Ivypool knows where she is if she needs help.
Ivypool is grateful for Dovewing's concern, but Dovewing can't help with this. Dovewing can't bring back Bristlefrost. It's not that Bristlefrost is forgotten, it's that there's nothing left of her aside from the memories. Ivypool thinks that she needs to accept that her daughter is gone.

Okay, is it just me, or does Snow seem like a better leader than Moonlight? That's what it feels like to me. Sunrise being so happy to see her nephew is nice as well. It's nice to see how much they respect Graystripe. And at least they aren't being that mad about Slate and Beach coming back. Though the Sisters clearly don't understand the concept of being completely faded. Poor Ivypool. :c

It only just occurred to me when reading this that Icewing was STILL fighting on the side of the Dark Forest LONG after her own son was murdered by Brokenstar. There is either a really messed up story there about how she didn't care or else she was just so clueless she didn't even know, and if that's the case, imagine her reaction when she found out. On a less awful note, The pick-up line discussion is amazing. Beach and Slate need to start up a dating advice ring for cats

Beetlewhisker was killed because he tried to leave. Icewing warned several cats to keep their mouth shut for their own safety. There is absolutely no evidence she meant it as a threat. Nor that she actually did fight for the Dark Forest during the fight. Her inclusion in that meeting in DS isn't proof either. Tigerheart was there too, despite openly turning against the DF.

Chapter 4: Icewing and Dovewing consoling Ivypool was so nice It almost made me tear up and I really like moments in Warriors like these. It's really nice having Dovewing and Ivypool back together again and being able to relate Icewing's experiences to Ivypool's. I'm glad they're all here for each other <3 Chapter 5: Beach trying to hit on Dovewing is SO FUNNY to me. He would have loved MILFS It's really sad that the Sisters don't even care about their toms enough to teach them how to take care of themselves and it's sad how Beach and Slate got themselves into that situation. I'm glad they have Dove and Ivy to help them though so they literally won't die 😭 I'm glad they're teaching them to respect women too. It wasn't what I was expecting to read today but I'm glad it's there LOL. The change to dating advice is so funny to me. (Also a cat named Sweetums is hilarious). Chapter 6: I feel so bad so Ivypool. I'm glad to know she gets some consolation later at least

That's not the damning line, the damning line is when Dovewing spies on her talking to herself in the Dark Forest and she says, "Why do we have to train in this stinking forest? Why can’t we train on our own land?" Those aren't exactly the words of a reluctant recruit here, just someone who dislikes the smell of the Dark Forest but otherwise is fine with continuing to get its training. I did notice though upon looking at the scene again that Beetlewhisker's murder was at a private meeting with him as the 'representative' of Riverclan along with only Applefur, Ivypool, and Breezepelt of the living recruits, and that afterwards Brokenstar makes a point of threatening them not to spread "rumors and lies" about it to anyone. Since Beetlewhisker also just disappeared without leaving a trace, I suppose the implication is just that she genuinely was clueless about it and assumed he'd left to live as a rogue or something while Ivypool, Applefur, and Breezepelt kept her in the dark. Must have been a horrible thing to have someone inevitably spill the beans on that to her.

Love the way Ivypool's grief is explored. I hope it remains a consistent throughline with the story and doesn't get overshadowed later.

When Dovewing is listening to a dark forest conversation Icewing basically warns Haresping and some other trainee to do what Tigerstar says or they won’t see home again in a way that implies she wants them all to stay alive. She shuts up when Mapleshade comes over. Later Icewing continues to shows more disagreement to the Dark Forest’s morals in Ivypool chapters. Perhaps Beetwhisker’s death led her to acting like this?? She doesn’t agree with the Dark Forest.

Chapter 7: Ivypool's sleep as disturbed the whole night, but as she wakes, she figures one of the Sisters can give them directions to the fox-headed mountain. She figures if she can't find Bristlefrost, then the least she can do is figure out what the Clan's debt it. Surmising it as being unable to be a good mother, but being a good deputy. After getting some prey, Snow tells Ivypool that she can tell she's impatient to go. Ivypool says she can tell Snow wants the same. Snow twitches her whiskers and Ivypool wonders if she had been too forward, but Snow says that's correct and she wants her camp to have fewer toms in it. Ivypool doesn't quite understand why Snow wants toms out of their camp since she seems fine with Rootspring and talked highly of Graystripe, but Ivypool has more sense than to comment on the hypocrisy and doesn't want to offend a cat who did show them kindness.
Snow invites Ivypool to discuss what brought them to the Sisters, as there wasn't time last night. Ivypool describes the details of Whistlepaw's vision and how she thinks it's best to find them. Snow asks what precisely the Clan cats want from them, and Ivypool says nothing more than directions, asking if Snow knows the mountain shaped like a fox head. Snow knows it, commenting that Ivypool's going in the complete wrong direction. Ivypool grumbles she knows, hence why she's asking. Snow says they briefly made camp near there, and Sparrow was once fancy with a tom. Sparrow, who had come to listen to the conversation, says it was a waste of effort. Snow says the landscape was harsh and ultimately it didn't work for the Sisters, so they moved on. Snow mentions lots of sand near the salty water, and the shores that come and go. Ivypool knows what Snow is talking about, but she can't even begin to imagine what it looks like. Though ideally, it should be recognizable. Snow directs them to go along a Thunderpath near the twolegpace, and to look for tall twoleg trees with no branches grouped together connected with black vines, and following the vines brings them closer to the mountain. Ivypool remarks it seems pretty easy, but Snow warns them about gulls and how loud they screech, and she's seen gulls steal prey from twoleg kits, so she wouldn't take any chances in seeing what they'll do to a cat.
They finish up their conversation, and Ivypool asks where Rootspring is. Dovewing explains he's talking to his kin and saying goodbye. Ivypool gets annoyed since the last thing they need is him lollygagging. Ivypool goes to find him, and she walks in on Snow, Sunrise, and Moon trying to convince Rootspring to move on from Bristlefrost. Rootspring says it's not simple, to which Snow says it is, and asks if he's going to go the rest of his life without loving again. Ivypool becomes bitter, considering it rude to forget Bristlefrost, but realizes it's unfair to ask Rootspring to live his life without loving someone again. Snow insists that Bristlefrost would want him to move on and be happy, but Rootspring argues it's betrayal and perhaps he doesn't want to take a mate or find love again. Although she should be happy, Rootspring's dedication to Bristlefrost isn't making Ivypool feel better. Ivypool wonders if Rootspring moved on, or even forgot about Bristlefrost, then what's stopping others from forgetting the other Lights in the Mist.
Snow keeps her cool, and says Rootspring may see it that way now, but she sees Rootspring holding himself back from having a family of his own and right now all she sees in front of her is someone who is alone. He isn't meant to be alone, as it's not his destiny. Rootspring hisses he wouldn't even be permitted to raise a family in the Sisters, asking why she cares. Snow replies they're family. Rootspring snarls to not talk to him about family considering how they treated Tree and how they abandon their toms for some apparent reason. Snow says calmly that toms have their own path to follow. Rootspring asks what that is, since he considers it abandonment. He gestures to Slate and Birch, pointing out how young they are and Beach's wound could have killed him had Whistlepaw not been there. He finishes his rant by asking Snow what she knows about family.
Snow keeps her cool, and says family is important, no matter the form it takes.

Poor Ivypool. :c And you shouldn't just rush someone who's grieving to take another mate. That should be Rootspring's own choice.

Not sure I’d trust romantic advice from a group of she-cats whose whole shtick is love ‘em and leave ‘em.
