to your memory, at least.
and to add on, how did that change over time?
first dream job of mine was meteorologist, from when i was around 4-5 years old. then astronomer (not astronaut). then singer. then computer scientist. then meteorologist again. then singer again. then comedian. then back to meteorologist. then computer scientist again. then environmental scientist. then singer. then data scientist. and now i'm floundering between to work in a warehouse/start a band or get an office job.

Paleontologist to ornithologist to airline pilot.
Meteorology and astronomy are both cool though, you’ve got some good interests there! I took classes in both in college, as well as CS and environmental science (well that one was pretty much required for my ecology-focused bio degree)

Astronaut. Honestly, still is but i know its completely unachievable now. I was even willing to put in the work to make it there pretty much up until my grandpa died and my college fund they had been putting money into evaporated to even keep our family afloat, i got depressed and my mom got more abusive bc my grandpa was like the only one who could actually stop her that shed listen to.
Its hard to not be a little tormented by what my life could have been like if i had the proper family and financial support without death or trauma. Even if I still didn't become an astronaut or at least on the space science track it would be better than this.

veterinarian > pet shop owner > wolf biologist > animator > graphic novelist > historian > anthropologist specializing in archeology. It’s been quite the journey lol.

Veterinarian, I think. Basically something to do with animals.
I became a vet tech but had to retire due to disability.

Veterinarian, because I wanted to work with animals. Then I realized that I'd be working with dying, suffering animals some of the time, so I figured it probably wasn't a good idea. Being the one who has to make the hard decision to put down someone's beloved family dog is like, nightmarish once I thought a little harder about it lol.
Nowadays I'm not sure what I want. I feel like I hate the idea of monetizing my creative hobbies because then it feels like an obligation. But I do sometimes think about being an equine therapist or working at a barn. I used to volunteer at an equine therapy center before some internal drama put the volunteer program on hold indefinitely, and I had a really good time while I helped out there. My favorite horse was a huge Clydesdale named Freedom, he always liked to chew on my hair while I was sweeping. There were some cute Vanner horses there too, and a Fjord Pony :)
If I ever do end up doing some kind of equine therapy related job, I'd love to offer my services to other members of the autistic community since I'm a part of it lol, and I take a lot of pride in my autistic identity. (wow this became a whole ramble)

I remember really wanting to be an anthropologist when I was young. Then I took an anthropology class in high school and realized it was really boring (even though my teachers were super nice).

I was all over the place as a kid. I was asked this same question in 5th grade and had literally over 20 answers. I wanted to have the same career my father had, I wanted to go to space, I wanted to help people, etc. Eventually, it boiled down to Game Designer since I was into video games. Tried my hand at going to college for a degree that was slightly relative to that career path (while in High School), but I couldn't afford the $60k tuition, even with a scholarship and a trust fund. So, dropped out.

Veterinarian when I was 6 > Artist when I was 8 > Actor when I was 10 > Police Officer when I was 12 (still not sure what I was on back then to ever want that lol) > Author/Poet when I was 14 > Psychologist when I was 16 and that's pretty much it for all my childhood/teenage aspirations back then

i think the very first one that i ever considered was being a teacher. from then on i've always just mainly wanted to be an author, but i've run the gamut of considering potential day jobs in the meanwhile. pianist, linguist, geologist, physicist, librarian, and editor were probably the ones i considered the most seriously. and i still haven't rlly figured it out unfortunately, been working retail my entire adult life :|

All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was loved. I never had any one thing I wanted to do/be. Vet was pushed on me early on because of my love of animals, but it was never MY dream. When we had to write a paper about what we wanted to be when we grew up, I put marine biologist because I was going through a dolphin phase, but I didn't actually want to BE a marine biologist.
Then I got to college, tried going through the radio broadcast program (what I did my senior project on), but ultimately decided all I actually wanted to be was free of my family, so I found a guy, ran off, got married, and the rest is history. I'm a hotel auditor now, and as frustrating as it's been lately, I love my job. Fleeing the area back then was probably also 1 of the smartest things I've ever done, because my mom's house is so toxic, and had I had to live in the area, I might not have been as successful at navigating my bad mental health.

I wanted to research birds. I do research on different kind of animals for my actual job now. Funnily, since we are talking about vets, I work with a lot of ex-vet assistants and techs. Turns out people who work in vet offices get paid peanuts.

Turns out people who work in vet offices get paid peanuts. Accurate. My sister wanted to be a vet her whole life, right up to applying to vet schools, but she ended up pivoting to human medicine (which she also enjoyed) because vet school is so crazy expensive and vet salaries are so low that it takes the average vet 30-40 years to pay off just their vet school debt.
