I wanted to research birds. I do research on different kind of animals for my actual job now. Funnily, since we are talking about vets, I work with a lot of ex-vet assistants and techs. Turns out people who work in vet offices get paid peanuts. Accurate. My sister wanted to be a vet her whole life, right up to applying to vet schools, but she ended up pivoting to human medicine (which she also enjoyed) because vet school is so crazy expensive and vet salaries are so low that it takes the average vet 30-40 years to pay off just their vet school debt. And they wonder why we have a vet shortage atm

Many of them told me that they got paid minimum wage which is around 10 dollars per hour around here. Literally unsustainable.

And they wonder why we have a vet shortage atm well the vet shortage is also probably caused by how few certified vet schools they are. the low supply and high demand for a veterinarian education means that vet school is much harder to get into than med school.

Paleontologist in the very beginning! Then vet starting around the age of 5. There were quite a few other ideas I considered but it was always that AND a vet. I’m a vet tech now, but I’m still trudging through undergrad to apply to veterinary school.

Veterinarian or chef, then singer, screenwriter, author, and finally editor. I was looking at editing or teaching English, but health issues put those plans on hold. Now I have a part-time research writing job I really enjoy, and I honestly don’t know what I’ll do career-wise if I’m able to work full-time again. Working towards hopefully reaching that point feels like my primary job right now.

This is going to stand out from the others, I wanted to join the military, books like warriors inspired me to want to go onto the battlefield. I’m too skinny to be accepted, but it was an interesting fantasy for for most of my teen years.
