She is a chimeric she-cat with heterochromia and her parents are Bayshine and Thriftear.
(She’s very in-bred. Bayshine was a bit of a poor choice for a dad.)
Moon” is an unusual name for Warriors cats, but in Moonpaw’s case, it reflects how special her parents, Bayshine and Thriftear, think she is. Moonpaw is a chimera cat: a cat who, due to a rare genetic quirk, has different colored fur on each side of her face, divided by a nearly straight line. As Moonpaw recalls in Book 1 of Changing Skies, her father, Bayshine, thought that his lovely daughter’s face resembled a half moon. And when she was a kit, Moonpaw’s unusual appearance brought unusual expectations: many in ThunderClan imagined that she might be destined to become a medicine cat or that her unique face might be a sign from StarClan.
Readers will find that Moonpaw’s wants are not all that different from other apprentices: she wants to figure out who she is and to serve her Clan. But in Moonpaw’s case, what other cats think about her may have more of an impact on her future than her own goals. Moonpaw’s Clanmates may be right that her unusual face indicates a cat who is destined to bring great change to the Clans. Thriftear and Bayshine is certainly an unexpected pairing. But they're both decent side characters so I'm not terribly upset.
Or it's because her parents are first cousins? I jest, but Moonpaw so far seems quite interesting. This also means Lionblaze and Cinderheart have great-grandchildren. I'm still getting used to them being grandparents!

Okay, at this point, I'd have preferred gray with blue eyes. This is just such a blatant OC description that it's bordering on "did a 12 year old come up with this?" Curled ear tufts shaped like crescent moons, two different eye colors, a face that every cat thinks is going to make her a MC... I'm literally losing it right now. Anyway, Thriftear and Bayshine are also cousins. The family wreath continues. |

And while I’m pleased with Thriftear being the mom as design wise, Moonpaw being chimeric with tortie leaning makes sense on Thriftear’s end:

bruh if they're gonna make her a chimera, at least make it a FUN chimera.
pale grey and chocolate would have went HARD. Or at least work with mixed dilutions if you want to keep an orange, like black/cream or grey/ginger
set it apart from "tortoiseshell with somewhat distinctive patterning"
hell even having one half have white spotting and the other no white spotting at all. That could look super neat. |

Also though from what I remember the split face torties aren't necessarily chimera. I don't think they've gotten that right. All I'm getting from that, though, is that that opened up the possibility for some real funky fan designs. Like yes she's a split face tortie, but maybe with different fur lengths in certain spots? Not even bald cat propaganding here, I just think that would be neat

The brief summary about her is very interesting, especially the focus on how unique/unusual her face markings are considered to be in-universe. I have really high hopes that they'll give us something special with this character!!!! |
