I think the question is, do the editors know only a couple cats are supposed to know the truth? Probably not, but I'd expect Cherith and Kate to know at least. I'm just gonna headcanons that Runningnose told ShadowClan the truth after Tigerstar died so suddenly. Maybe they were panicking that ShadowClan must be cursed by StarClan if TWO leaders lost all 9 lives in rapid succession, and Runningnose admitted that Nightly only had one life to lose. Maybe that gave Blackfoot the determination to lead, realizing that by StarClan legitimizing Brokenstar's leadership over Nightpelt's, that also legitimized him as deputy and successor despite Tigerstar's treachery. After all, the cats thinking that the sickness could wipe out a leaders 9 lives probably pushed them to accept Tigerstar to begin with. That, and Firestar, gossip extraordinaire, told other cats lmao.

I honestly love Jayfeather in this book. His blunt reasoning is so satisfying to see.

One thing I do wish had happened was Appleshine and Woodsong apologizing to Frostpaw and/or being punished. If it weren't for that little prickle of doubt that Appleshine had that they could be wrong, WindClan would have had no forewarning and their kits (and maybe Featherpelt and Larkwing too) would have died. That's not something to take lightly. Even if they doubted Frostpaw, it's still infinitely safer to take the message anyway than to simply ignore it like they were originally going to.

I don't think it warrants a punishment though? Everyone was understandably skeptical of Frostpaw and her word. They're not the same as cats like Splashtail and Podlight who are knowingly lying and treating Frostpaw horribly to cover their own fur. Appleshine and Woodsong are going to question Frostpaw especially after the events of the gathering, along with other events that have been happening on the WindClan border lately (like Sunbeam also being caught trespassing).
They shouldn't have to apologize either, as much as some readers don't like it, there's no reason for Harestar to force them to just because Frostpaw ended up being right too. If they both choose to apologize to her own their own later, I feel that that is is better writing for their characters and all parties. But to blame them for something any logical clan cat would think at a time like that doesn't seem warranted. The only ones that have the benefit of the doubt about characters are the readers, not other characters. And since Frostpaw has openly admitted to lying before, her credibility has been on the line the entire book, that was the point of this scene narratively. To give her more credibility, so cats like Woodsong and Appleshine could possibly believe her more in the future.

I didn't mean that Harestar should force them to apologize, but that they should have done it on their own. Forced apologies typically don't mean much anyway. I still really don't think it was worth them taking the risk when they could have just taken the message anyway to be safe instead of arguing since kits' lives may have been on the line, but what you're saying is fair.
