[ THE GREAT HALL ]
--
The Headmistress steps back to allow her Deputy to take the proverbial spotlight, shoulders appearing to droop slightly in relief. Two men break from the assembly to stand beside her. The first man, a tall neatly-styled brunet with hazy silver-green eyes, is immediately recognizable to the newly inducted Azure students. His soft lilting tenor was heard frequently throughout the Infirmary, and his stern gaze assessed many an injury. He stands on Logestilla's left, neatly folding his white gloved hands before him.
The second man is small and svelte, but seems to make up for it with an even more icy exterior. His lengthy ebony hair is swept away from his snow-pale face and pulled into a high ponytail that swishes with his long maroon coat as he walks. When he takes his place on Logestilla's right, his stormy blue gaze rakes over the shifting Azures as if prematurely dismissing them. He doesn't blink, pentacle-shaped pupils flashing behind thin silver glasses.
The Deputy Headmistress smiles at them both before turning to face the assembly. "On my left is Album Cessair Varden, the Pillar of Kirin House. The Exorcists in Kirin specialize in healing, sealing, and magic or abilities that support their teams in battle. Here at Felblanc, your team is your Cell. You live, fight, and die together. Once chosen you will be locked into that Cell and position barring extenuating circumstances, death, or a promotion to another position such as Stationed Album or Haunt." She lifts a hand to her right.
"GefΓ€ngnis Schwarze is your Basilisk Pillar. The Exorcists of Basilisk primarily support their Cells with passive magic, unique abilities and weaponry. Even without magic, exorcism tools will be provided for you to be just as effective as your fellow Houses."
"I am, of course, the Pillar for Amarok House." She gives a cheery little wave, aware that new students would already be passingly familiar with her. "Amarok House is for Exorcists with high combat capability and powerful magic. Every role is important, but you must always be aware of your position. If you are chosen for Amarok, know that you will be the first to strike. Kirin must the last to fall. And Basilisk must be aware of both their teammates' strengths and weaknesses to fill any gaps that may appear in battle. With all three Houses together, we will always prevail."
"Now," She shakes out her hand and a rolled scroll appears in it. "Starting with House Amarok, I will go down a list of names deemed fit for their respective Houses. When your name is called, approach your Pillar to receive the key to your dorm, your House emblem, and your syllabus, then stand to my right. When all names have been called, I will begin assigning Cells."
--
Ryuzaki's attention was wholly on the Headmistress and her Deputy now, even saluting before Sorachi could when the Hall was overtaken with the pounding of fists on hearts and the rustling of fabric. ShishΕ had taught them the Felblanc salute so Sorachi was able to imitate them, but there was something different about performing it almost in sync with hundreds of others. Like he was truly part of something larger now...
He was breathless and overtaken with nerves as the morning continued, wiping clammy palms on his borrowed slacks and trying not to fidget too much with his hair. He couldn't find a brush so finger-combing had to do- but it felt silly to worry about that now after hearing that Exorcists as a whole are struggling against a new wave of demons. What...what could that mean? He had been practically in seclusion when training with ShishΕ and she'd never once indicated that the state of the magical world was that bad! He heard about more human 'terrorist' attacks in various countries in the news, but their magical governments had never claimed to have any connection to them as far as he was aware. In fact, it seemed like many magical communities were downright peaceful. But- could that be the calm before the storm? What if-?
Ryuzaki was among the last of the Amaroks to be called, which Sorachi greatly appreciated because he was able to rely on his support until the last. His friend contrasted by fidgeting with eagerness, auric eyes alight and a crooked grin further brightening his features. Sorachi squeezed his hand (wished he could fix his hair without it becoming a fight) and gave him a watery smile as he straightened his back and strode over to the welcoming sorceress. At least her smile appeared genuine. The onmyΕji did his best to ignore the more...negative reactions to Ryuzaki briefly being in the limelight. He doesn't have the horns, third eye, or colored skin of most Oni but his aura is...abrasive and very much demonic. It seems more savvy Exorcists have been able to pick up on that. Nonetheless his head is held high and he...actively sends anyone who gives him more than a second glance a challenging look. Sorachi sighs, but he has to appreciate the fact that Ryu hadn't pumped his fist or stuck his tongue out. Deputy Logestilla said something quietly to him that made him grin harder, and he smugly made his way over to the other Amarok Azures.
Kirin House is next, and Sorachi fiddles with his bandages as the names whittle down. Miss Ada is called on first, and he gives her an encouraging smile as she makes her way forward. It must be daunting to have all eyes on her- even for a few moments. He doesn't look forward to it- but when she gets to her Pillar, the normally stoic man smiles as he greets her, handing her a gleaming badge, a solid golden key, and equally solid-looking folder. The syllabus must be packed!
The onmyΕji actually starts when he hears his name, eyes going wide before he manages to pull on an air of put-togetherness and take control of his panicked facial expression. He actually has a lot of practice acting stoic it just...never lasts. He feels self-conscious as he approaches the gathered Pillars with as slight a limp as he can manage. Realistically he knows (and has witnessed) that the great majority of the Azures are sporting bruises, bandages, and some form of injury. And yet the notion that one must always be poised and unbothered is imprinted in his brain. Weakness is very much frowned upon in his family, even the physical kind that one can't exactly help. He can only hope that his face isn't as warm as it feels when he finally stands before Kirin's Pillar.
"Ye can remove the bandages on the morrow." He says by way of greeting, producing a syllabus, antlered badge, and golden key from the floating chest just behind him. "Thank you." Sorachi gathers them all with his good arm, startled when the man actually smiles at him as well. "Welcome t' Kirin."
"Thank you." He says again, briefly ducking his head with a tentative smile before hurrying over to his fellow Azure Kirin. Notably, there are far fewer than there are in Amarok House. Healing magic must still be rather rare. Sorachi easily finds Miss Ada's ginger head in the group and makes his way over to her. "We're in the same House after all~" He cheers, choosing to see the positive despite being separated from his best friend. It didn't exactly come as a shock, Ryu definitely wouldn't fit in Kirin. Sorachi sends him a little wave and Ryuzaki responds with a briefer one. Unlike in Kirin, the mood in Amarok seems a little tense. Fortunately, Ryu is undaunted. He doesn't talk but appears to be sizing up his Housemates from the outer edges of their circle.
Not long after Sorachi, the name Latharn, A. Armistice is called. He's surprised to see another ginger Kirin slip into the small group. It's a...sorcerer, by the feel of his magic. Ever-flowing and confusing, it surrounds him in a figure-eight like an invisible sandstorm. His height places him just a few inches taller than Sorachi, and sapphire briefly meets cold wintry blue as he wordlessly moves toward the far wall. Sorachi notes not a single scar mars the pale skin made visible by his dark ensemble. It looks like some Azures were on the luckier side. That's good to see~ It's- he can't think about the others...
His attention returns to the Pillars when the Deputy Headmistress starts on Basilisk. The sorceress he'd briefly met earlier (Stella Greene, apparently) joins the steadily growing group on his other side, and he smiles at her before returning to look for Miss Onyx in the crowd. But first the boy who had almost knocked him over is called and Sorachi curiously follows his strange movements with his gaze, smiling reflexively when their eyes met. He never did get an explanation from Ryu on why he instinctively didn't like him. The onmyΕji's sensory abilities aren't the best, but the magic surrounding him is...interesting. It's as if he has a spell that's always active.
His brows arch in shock when a familiar golden head of hair saunters out from the crowd, having somehow forgotten that Medraut existed- but he's a little more shocked that he's an Azure and not a returning student like Miss Zinna. How else did he know things they didn't? And he had unusual weapons that are uniquely suited to killing powerful demons- When their gazes meet, Sorachi's reflexive smile is a little slow. Medraut only seems more amused. He says something to Pillar Schwarze that makes the already severe man scowl before strolling over to the other Azure Basilisks. Notably, the cambions among them give him a wide berth. Medraut stands alone near the back, pulling a golden coin from his pocket and flipping it idly.
Miss Onyx is among the last called, and there are a few murmurs and inquistive whispers at her appearance. With her passage into the now much larger group, Deputy Logestilla flips her scroll over and shakes it to begin assigning teams. "Preceptors." She prompts, and a number of the sorcerers who were previously standing directly behind the Azures approach her with the House Pillars moving off to the side.

Octavian | endingfairyHe smiled awkwardly at the smaller boy's reassurance and ran his hand through is unruly dark hair. At least the people here were slightly more understanding than the ones back home. Although, he thought with a dark chuckle, growing up having everything handed to you makes a different sort of person. Honestly I'm lucky that I haven't fell prey to a demon of greed or brattyness yet. Key word here being yet.
Then his eyes narrowed at the taller boy's growl, the icy blue retina's becoming steely. He saw deep inside the boy's head, finding the fear that plagued him. Sibling death I think... It wasn't even a conscious decision he made next. Automatically his mind sent a scene of the fear to the taller boy's head, one that depicted the smaller one laying on the floor with a slit throat. After a few seconds of the phantom being there it disappeared and Octavian was brought back to the real world from his anger. His eyes became wide with guilt and regret. "I'm sorry," he muttered under his breath before pulling his hood and mask up further over his face and slipping into a different part of the line where he stood, still quaking with guilt. I'm so sorry.
When Octavian was mad, his phantom summoning became too much to control and often he caused distress or even harm to the person who had made him feel that way. He hated himself for it- seeing their faces turn to terrified and then them stumble back, whispering apologies through tears and choked sobs. His smaller sister had often made him angry when he was younger, and her face was burned into his mind every time it happened. "Why can't you just learn to control it," he snarled bitterly under his breath. "wasn't Roo's death enough for you? Apparently not." Tears pricked at his eyes but he shoved the emotions down. Now wasn't the time for memory recollections or sobbing. All he really had to do was get past this ceremony so he could find a place to go stew over his thoughts. When the woman started speaking he was barely paying attention, numbly following what the others were doing. The only part he really caught was the last bit about houses, and that was only because he forced himself to listen. He tightened his fists at his sides to keep them from shaking, although he couldn't stop a singular tear from falling down his face; which he quickly swiped away with his fist. Onyx | DewShe was about to say something else, but then the head-mistress began talking so Onyx silenced. While she followed along with the movements and was mildly listening, mostly she was watching Octavian who appeared to be having some sort of panic attack. Is he okay? Shouldn't someone be doing something? I mean he's... twitching and- crying? What in all of hell could've happened? All he did was bump into those boys... did one of them say something to him? The strings of questions continued in her mind although she didn't follow up with any of them.

Ada Hendrix
Ada focused all her attention of the who were talking, trying to focus, focus, focus! It seemed she was only really focused when she or others were in danger. But still, she tried hard, and luckily, she stayed. Well, everything made sense, and didn't seem confusing, which as what happened when her brain went all 'scatterbrained' as some people liked to call it. Ada felt a little awkward slowly trying to mimic the movements that that returning students did and said, but she thought she managed well enough. Clapping her hands against her chest still hurt though, and she didn't do it that hard. I guess I could heal myself. But the truth was, she didn't really want to. The main reason why she didn't get to injured during the entrance exam was because Ryuzuki and Sorachi were there, and her body had the natural reflex to heal herself whenever she got injured. Ada guessed that the only reason it wasn't doing it now was because it was still recovering.
When the man at her village had told her about the houses, he hadn't gone into much detail. In fact, he hadn't told her anything about the school just that it existed, and now she was here. But, Ada knew what house she wanted to be in. She knew what house she was probably going to be in. Kirin. If her magic didn't state that right out of the box, then her personality did. She wasn't much of a fighter, she was a protector.
Even with this in mind, when her name got called, she still felt surprised and nervous. Like she still expected that she was going to be sent away. It felt a little weird to rub her wrists together now, with the bandages and all, so instead she put them at her waist, pulling at the loose fabric at her hips. Ada felt probably everyone in the room looking at her, and she tried to relax her face, she didn't want to be seen scared in front of all these people.
Once she got to where her pillar was standing, she took the package that he gave her, a key, and a badge. She then stood a little off to the side, so others could have their moment. Sorachi was called next, and he got his stuff as well, and joined her where she was standing. "Yeah, it's great to know someone. I don't know what I would do if I was alone" She whispered, obviously a little daunted. "I- I honestly didn't think I would make it this far" She said, and then, Ada smiled. It was a small smile, yes, but it might be the first that Sorachi, or anyone here, ever saw. She didn't really pay much attention to any of the other kids that were called up, even though she knew that she should. Shouldn't she try and see who her housemates were? But the boy, Octavion, and Onyx were called up for Basilisk. Maybe me and Onyx will be in the same cell, or even Octavion. Someone else I know, anyways. The only Amarok that she knew was Ryuzuki, but Ada wouldn't be surprised if they put him the the same cell as Sorachi.

Stella|Ravenshadow Stella fidgets on stage, wondering whether or not to invite the Onyx girl over. She waves to her, but drops her hand early, hoping that she didn't seem too bold, considering Onyx didn't seem so fond of her. Which was a shame, because she seemed like a person Stella wanted as an ally. Stella felt a twinge of anger. She wasn't even the one who yelled at them! Her eyes drift to Clarissa in the crowd, and, not for the first time, she sends her a mental glare. She scans the other Azures, wondering who will be in her Cell. Surely not anyone from the infirmary? There were too many possibilities for that to happen, right? She catches the quiet boy from the infirmary-Sorachi?-smiling at her. She sends a quick smile back. At least one of them didn't hate her. She looks over at a strange boy nearby. "Octavian, was it?" she murmurs out of the corner of her mouth. "I'm Stella Greene." She racks her mind for a good conversation starter, but she ends up just waiting for Octavian to speak.

Octavian | snowheart1He glanced up at her, still racked with guilt. βOh- yeah Iβm Octavian. Nice to meet you.β His tone is rather clipped and cold. Not that he wanted to be a jerk, but usually talking didnβt cure his panic attacks. Onyx | She glanced around at all the students milling around, wondering when the ceremony would be over. [ THE GREAT HALL ]
-- Logestilla's clear, melodic voice rings through the large room as she recites the names of Preceptors and the Cells they are to be paired with. The numbers appear to be random as she isn't going through any order that can be easily made sense of.
"Prince Gwyneira Nieves representing Crown Trismegiste of Cell 50, you will now be Preceptor to Cell 21."
The man had been standing in the 'at ease' position with gloved hands loosely linked behind his back, bloodied circlet glinting in the morning light as his searching obsidian gaze swept over the sea of Azures. He acknowledges the Deputy's words with a brief smile and nod toward his chosen students when she calls their names. "Ada Hendrix, Octavian Hemlock, Zinna Heartbrook." There's an almost sad twist to her smile there as she looks into the rows of Amber students, but it's quickly wiped away.
"Master Zhlian representing Razor Bloom of Cell 27, you will be retired from your number so that your students may carry it on; Sorachi KiΕ‘o, Onyx Xavier, and Ryuzaki Igarashi."
Zhilan stands with delicate hands tucked into billowing sleeves, sunrise hued gaze slanting open just slightly in acknowledgement of her words. Unlike Gwyneira, the shorter man doesn't bother to so much as glance in their direction.
"Representing Crown Trismegiste of Cell 50, Prince Elysian Cendrillon-Bonnemaison will take on Stella Greene and Armistice Latharn."
Standing out in a beautiful sky-blue suit underneath his Felblanc-issue coat, the gentle-looking man gives his new students a small wave. His equally soft blue eyes are sad behind thick golden lashes, however. Receiving new additions to one's Cell is never a cause for celebration.
"And finally, Master Seox Graves representing Cell 6 will take on Atlas Michigan. Master Seox is on a mission at present, but I'm sure he would welcome you readily." She smiles and lowers the scroll, flicking it over her shoulder so that it disappears into the air behind her. "Now with all the talk out of the way, we may begin Felblanc's welcome feast for the year~" Logestilla steps aside with a grin as tables laden with breakfast foods begin appearing in the hall, vibrant cushioned benches to accompany them.
"One final welcome to our Azures and returning students! House tables are as they always are but you are free to sit wherever you please~"
There are multiple sets of tables decked in House colors in the Hall proper, with rows of elevated tables and individual seating in the back right before the great tapestry. It appears that the Headmistress herself had retreated to the very back while Logestilla spoke, and she's the first to sit with a flutter of her veil.
The staff and students begin to file away toward their seats once again in order of seniority, but a few of the Preceptors pause on their way to greet their students.
Gwyneira Nieves catches Zinna while she's waiting for her turn to move forward, turning his broad back on the students before her so as to create a more personal atmosphere. "Hello Miss Heartbrook, I wish to formally introduce myself." He offers her a small smile, dipping his crowned head. "And I wanted to tell you...that I could never hope to replace Jay nor would I ever attempt it. He is a loss that-" He clears his throat, inhales softly. "I look forward to working with you." There's more confidence in his words now. "And I am certain that together, we can ensure you become an exorcist that your Cell would be proud of. Not that it will be terribly difficult, on your part~ He was always very proud of you."
His cheeks dimple with another smile but the line is moving, so he backs away with a minute salute. "I will see you for your assessment~" Gwyneira briefly greets Ada and Octavian as well- "Hello! I look forward to working with you! Please do not hesitate to call on me with any concerns about your lesson plan or school life here, I will do my best to aid you~!" - before heading toward the dais upon which the other Preceptors are gathering. He meets Zhilan there, the yΔojΔ«ng apparently having made a beeline toward it. The Cait Sidhe can be heard chiding him for his lack of manners as they sit.
Elysian Cendrillon-Bonnemaison had also crossed the room to meet his students, mellifluous voice warm despite the faux pas he'd made when he almost bowed to them. "Good morning! Ah- forgive me! I just returned from etiquette lessons haha~" He straightens and extends an ivory gloved hand for a handshake instead. That's what he's most familiar with! "You've heard my name and title, but there's no need to call me 'Master' or 'Your Highness'! Just Ely is fine!" He tilts his head, blond ringlets bouncing around his soft jawline. "I look forward to our time together~"
Armistice releases his hand after a firm shake and a brief nod. "...Likewise."
Elysian's answering smile nearly makes him glow. "I hope you enjoy your stay here Stella, Armistice! We'll meet again for your assessment, okay~?" He gives them an enthusiastic wave before unerringly locating Lilia in the sea of students. "Lili~ Good morning! How did you fare during this year's exam? I'm sorry that I missed it!"

|| Sorachi KiΕ‘o || The Great Hall / Ravenshadow snowheart1 Dew --
The dorm key was practically imprinted into his palm with how tightly he'd been clutching it, but Sorachi managed to loosen his grip when Miss Ada responded to him. "R-right." He laughed breathlessly. "I...me either." Not that there was ever really any choice. He had to be accepted. Or at least, Ryu did. They really didn't have anywhere else to go. The boy was momentarily caught off-guard by the sorceress' unexpected smile, eyes widening when he realized that he'd never truly seen it before. Perhaps there hadn't been cause for it- but it's here now and the simple act of it is beautiful. He finds his lips curving softly too, chest tight with relief. 'I'm so glad you're alive. I swear I'll never put you in danger like that again, so you can continue smiling just like that. More, even.'
"We...we did though. And you deserve to be here as much as anyone. You were very brave." He tells her earnestly, unconsciously bringing his badge to his chest. Sorachi colors immediately after his words and brushes his hand over his scarred nose in an attempt to hide it. "R-right..." His sapphire gaze sought out Ryuzaki and found him staring into the Basilisks, at the hooded Azure from earlier. This time the Oni's expression was unreadable and Sorachi couldn't catch his eye.
The Deputy Headmistress soon started on her second list. He listened intently during the assigning of Cells, attaching surprisingly familiar names to faces he never thought he'd ever see. While the most highly lauded Exorcists came from the more...acceptably prestigious schools, the Deputy Headmistress was casually dropping names that even a person who had only recently been inducted into the world of demon hunting would know.
Sorachi had voraciously devoured the meagre reading material that his mentor had provided him, and practically committed her stories to memeory, even the rambling ones. So he knew the princely pair of Elysian Cendrillon-Bonnemaison and Gwyneira Nieves as two-thirds of Trismegiste, one of the most famous Exorcist Cells in the magical world. Their record had them aptly named 'thrice great' in only their fourth year of schooling, having been instrumental in the Battle of The Red Sabbath and the Affliction of the Withered Moon.
And his mentor would be Zhilan! The reclusive yΔojΔ«ng whose ki-based abilities were near always fatal to demons on the occasions he ever left his role as a supportive combatant! Sorachi turned his awe-filled gaze on the pink-haired Exorcist but got the feeling that he was being studiously ignored. Not even that could dampen his excitement however, and he turned to Miss Ada with a bright, "You're so lucky! Your cicerone is a prince and he has never received a scar! You'll be so strong!"
The last cicerone to be mentioned was one he actually didn't hear much about, but he looked forward to learning more. If ShishΕ was anything to go by, so many of the staff and even some of the students here are a piece of history! He needs to locate the library as soon as he's able!
The revelations end with the start of the 'welcome feast', and Sorachi sighs with relief when he hears that they wouldn't be separated by House. His first instinct is always to find Ryuzaki, and as the Scarlet students follow the staff to the back of the room, he internally reaches for the tether intrinsic to the Seals he's placed upon the Oni, and finds it rapidly approaching. Ryuzaki pushes his way through grumbling Ambers and grabs Sorachi's unbandaged hand excitedly.
"Sora!"
"I know!" The shorter boy laughs, seeing that his friend is already wearing his Amarok badge. "Come~ Let's find the others and ask if they'd like to sit together!"
The last dredges of despair for the past and worry for the future are temporarily washed away in the joy of the present. Just the thought of being able to even possibly sit and eat together with people he may one day consider friends after years of doing so alone brightens his scarred features and brings a shine to his gemstone eyes.

Octavian | DewHe glanced around, seeing Ada. At least he knew one of the people and she was nice to him. So he made his way over to her again, a small smile playing at his lips. βLong time no see,β he said in a lighter the tone. βNice to see that Iβll know at least one person from my cell.β As he stood there his eyes searched the room, hoping that he wouldnβt see any more phantoms. Thankfully they werenβt there. βSo,β he said with an awkward cough, βdo you know who Zinna is?β Onyx | She felt a wave of relief wash over her. Sora and Ryu were nice, and in a way she was excited to see their powers at work. Her own powers were rather boring in her personal opinion, and seeing how others used their own to their advantages in battle or training. βI wonder,β she said in a curious tone, βif I can upgrade my weapons at some point. I mean, this dagger didnβt even cause a scratch on that Gorgonβ¦ thatβs my only hope at the moment.β As Octavian came over again, she waved at him in greeting. βGood for you, Zinna is really nice. She saved my life- more than once that is.β Her tone is light, and as she finishes the sentence a laugh escaped her mouth.

|| Sorachi KiΕ‘o || The Great Hall / Ravenshadow Dew -- Sorachi follows Ryu now as the Azures slowly disperse. Many of the new students are hesitant as they're abruptly confronted with their seniors, tentatively attempting to find space at their respective House tables. Fortunately for the boys, the Azures they're seeking out are still standing around.
It's Ryuzaki who calls Miss Onyx's name, striding up to her with the onmyΕji struggling to keep up. He finds his breath before speaking. "There you are, Miss Ada! And Miss Onyx as well!" Sorachi smiles at them both. "Hello again! I'm glad that we can be on the same team- cell." Truthfully he finds this new manner of cambion fascinating- but good manners dictate that he keep his slew of questions to himself. There'd be plenty of time to get to know her during training, surely! Mixed in with Sorachi's immense relief that he wouldn't be separated from his best friend is the pleasure at the school giving him another one in the making. As long as he doesn't mess this up! Ah, he should have given Ryu his 'be normal' speech before approaching!
Its necessity is made apparent by the Oni's low growl. It's more felt than heard, rumbling through his chest as predatory golden eyes settle on Hemlock. When Sora looks up, it's to see Ryuzaki's nose wrinkling with displeasure, indigo tongue flicking along his fangs as if tasting something strange. Miss Ada is present too, but all of his attention is on the dark-haired boy they'd encountered earlier. Surely Ryu isn't harboring a grudge just from that?! But one can never be sure with the volatile Oni...
Sorachi sends Miss Ada and Miss Onyx an apologetic look, attempting to pull his friend away. "What is wrong with you?" He hisses, ducking his head to cover the movement of his lips.
"There is nothing wrong with me!" Ryu fires back unhelpfully.
Ryuzaki is utterly unmoved and Sorachi winces at the sudden tense atmosphere. The fact that he isn't making his grievances known is strange as well, even with the recently strengthened Seals subduing his personality. A quiet Ryu is worse than a vocal one however, hearing his usual thoughts was bad enough without him seeing fit to hide them. Sensing that a tactical retreat is in order, Sorachi excuses them both with rosy cheeks. "Ah, pardon us. We'll go find the others and perhaps we can sit at Kirin...?" Ah, he's getting ahead of himself!
"I-I mean, if you would- would like to! It- it makes sense because their tables aren't as full..." He trails off awkwardly, eyes darting past the trio before him.
><><><
-- Theron weaves his way through his fellow Ambers as they make their way to their seats to fall into step beside his cellmate. "Hey Clarissa! I didn't see you during this year's entrance exam. Were you cheating by helping your sister~?" He teases, fingers laced together behind his head.

Octavian | endingfairyHe felt his heart sink into the floor at the sight of the two boys. βOh- hiβ¦ again.β His cheeks burned with heat as he stared at the floor. It was so awkward, especially since the smaller boy seemed super nice. βIβm Octavian by the way,β he said with an attempt of a smile. Hesitantly he held his hand out to the taller boy, eyes pleading for a temporary truce. I donβt deserve your acceptance, but please can we just let it rest for now? I didnβt mean to hurt you. Seems that situation happens a lotβ¦ Onyx | She chuckled lightly at Soraβs tumbling words. It contrasted heavily from her own sarcastic and dark humor, and in a way it pleased her great that she would have to deal with a ray of sunshine on her team. Not literally though. That would suck. βYeah, letβs wait for Zinna though. Iβm sure that if sheβs not doing something fancy with other second years she might like to sit with us.β Onyx looked between Ryu and Octavian, the feeling of tension practically tangible. Uncomfortably she shifted on her feet, glancing at them. Ryu had hell in his eyes, and Octavian looked prepared to crumple to the ground with something like guilt if he didnβt accept the handshake. Sora also looked tense, still standing with Ryu. βUhmβ¦ are you guys good,β she asked with furrowed brows. βIs everything okay?β ( Ok totally random, but I saw this idea on a different rp I do and I think we should try it. On that rp, every time thereβs a full moon they share random trivia about their character. It seems so fun! Idk what the occasion should be tho, ideas? Like an example: itβs ___ occasion, so hereβs a piece of trivia about Onyx! She loves Arnold Palmer drinks )

Clarissa|Great Hall|endingfairy Clarissa rolls her eyes at Theron, letting out a soft chuckle. "Stella doesn't need my help. She may look weak, but even with a magic that is inaccessible most of the time, she packs quite the punch." She takes a seat beside him. Memories flood back from last year, when everything felt so new and exciting, when she didn't know anyone, and didn't really care to. "Where's our other Cellmate?" she asks, scanning the room.
(I think that's a great idea! I don't have an idea for the occasion right now off the top of my head, though I do love the full moon idea.)

( Thanks! I'm glad it works~
I think that's a great idea too! I don't know how often there's a full moon, but how about on the thirteenth of every month? Because it's an 'unlucky' number and we're dealing with demons haha
Is it just for one character? Then I can share that Ryuzaki actually has a great singing voice and writes songs & poems to kind of sort out his emotions. Not even Sora can know this, though~ )

Zinna Heartbrook
Zinna gave a start when her name was called for cell 21, like they were wrong. She had a cell, cell 17, didn't she? Then she remembered that they were dead. Or most likely dead. Zinna had known that they were all at a risk of dying, but she hadn't thought it would be so soon. Oh, how fate was cruel to her, taking away all the people she cared about. Yesterday she had felt sadness weighing on her, but today she just felt cold, and sad. She didn't want a new cell, a new cicerone, new cellmates who would look at her funny because 'You're an Amber, don't you have a cell already?' Hadn't she just made everything worse by telling them she had been an Amber yesterday, before she had gotten the news? No, she didn't want to talk to Ada, whom she had met yesterday, or Octavion, who was new to her. But Zinna knew she must. She must put on a happy face and tough it out, tough it out for the rest of her life.
The sight of Prince Gwyneira Nieves surprised her, and it registered on her face for a moment before she soothed it over, giving a nod in greeting. She didn't need to pretend around him, he already knew. "Thank you" Zinna says, before Gwyneira Nieves turns and leaves, saying a quick greeting to Ada and Octavion before he retired and slipped out of her sight. Lilia had gone already, the two shared a dorm, and she had probably already found her cicerone from last year. They seemed to get along swimmingly. Her cell is dead too. But it hadn't really seemed to matter to Lil, at least not as much as it did for Zinna. She couldn't help but feel slightly jealous, before snapping out of it. Jealous because Lilia process death different than I do? How stupid of me.
Zinna went over to where she had seen Ada and Octavion before, only to see that Onyx, Sorachi, and Ryusaki had joined them. Put on a happy face, you got this.
"Congratulations, all of you for passing the exam, I'm Zinna, by the way" She gave a rather forced smile at the group, completely oblivious to the palpable tenseness of her cellmate, Octavion, and Ryuzaki.

Great Hall - endingfairy, ravenshadow
Ada stood still for the remainder of the speech, other than a slight tilt of her head to get a better look at her preceptor, Gwyneira Nieves. The rest of it went by in a blur, the calling of names, was there shaking of hands? She didn't know. Ada was only broken out of her daze by Sorachi's voice, which was a rather big compliment, considering she hadn't really done much. But that's not true, didn't you save two lives? Had she saved the blonde-haired girl? There had been no news, and would the school even tell her if the girl was still alive? Probably not. "You were rather brave too, Sorachi," she said, smiling again.
Ada blushed slightly at Sorachi's exclamation of her preceptor, clutching her parcel closer to her stomach. That was... amazing. I should hit the books when I can, don't want to be so behind on basic knowledge like that! It seemed only seconds later when Ryuzaki arrived, and the two reunited again. Ada didn't mind to be forgotten for a moment, some time with her own thoughts was nice. It was short, however, for Octavion joined her, and shortly after Onyx joined. "I met her briefly; she saved us in the entrance exam. Zinna's an Amber though. I wonder what happened to her cell..." She trailed off, letting Onyx take the reins. The cambion had known Zinna better after all, she could probably tell Octavion more about the Amber student than she could.
Ada and Octavion were pulled aside by their preceptor, Gwyneira Nieves, for a short word of greeting before he retreated into the crowd, and Ada's attention turned back to their little huddle of Azures. Ryuzaki and Sorachi come back to them, but there was a noticeable tenseness between Octavion and Ryuzaki, and Octavion let out his hand to shake, distress and sorry flickering in his eyes.
Just then Zinna appeared, but something seemed to be a little off, completely missing the palpable tenseness and distress that had fallen over the group. She briefly congratulated them, but it felt strained, and the smile that Zinna was showing was clearly fake. I wonder what happened. Did she get kicked out of her cell? Could that even happen? How would it work? Or... had something bad happened? They probably just dropped out. I heard that could happen too.

Lilia "Lil" Watcher
Lilia knew that her cell was dead, gone. But she wasn't really that sad. No, she wanted vengeance. But she wasn't ready yet. She needed to learn all she could, then go charging out onto the field killing every demon in sight. Maybe she would even land her eyes on the ones that had killed her cell. Patience is key. She exhaled, tracking Ely as he approached her new cellmates, probably introducing himself then sauntering over to her. Out of everyone who had died, she was happy he hadn't.
"Doing just fine, paired up with a pair of hopefuls, don't think either got accepted though. They basically cowered behind me as I fought all the demons" She let out a huff of laughter, shoulders shaking with the movement. "Got cut pretty bad on my left shoulder though, nothing bad enough that couldn't be healed up however" With this Lilia pointed to her left shoulder, where you could just see the tip of the bandage hanging out. "Should be healed up in a day or two I heard" Then she nodded a farewell and made her way over to where Stella Greene and Armistice Latharn.
"Name's Lilia Watcher, but my friends call me Lil, or Lili. I'm an Amber student, so if you have any questions feel free to ask me. Or Ely, for that matter" She dipped her head slightly to each of them in turn, reflexively shaking out her shoulders. Bad idea! She had forgotten about the gash on her shoulder, and a sharp pain went up her left side, just managing not to wince.

Great Hall - endngfairy, snowheart1
Cell six, that was his cell now. He didn't care much, after the first death last year the rest of his cell had dropped out. Maybe, if he had lived a different life, he would have dropped out as well, but alas, he had nowhere to go. And why would he leave? There was no reason to it, cellmates died, and you had to move on. That was that.
Atlas knew vaguely of Clarissa and Theron, both Ambers. At least he wasn't with Azures. He made his way over to where he thought he had seen the two earlier, and as he got closer be realized that he had been right. "Right here. Atlas Michigan, as you must know," he said, approaching the pair.

|| Sorachi KiΕ‘o || The Great Hall / Ravenshadow Dew -- Sorachi winces at Miss Onyx's uncertain words, aware that she'd never sounded so concerned in the short time since he's made her acquaintance. ' Why do you have to ruin-' Irritation for the Oni burns in his chest but he does his best to douse it with rationality. There are some things that Ryuzaki doesn't seem able to help, and he promised to work with him when it came to it. The cambion can be bad-tempered, but there was always a reason for it. Even if a little convoluted. The onmyΕji exhales softly, answering Miss Onyx with a weak smile. " Hm? Oh yes, of course!" His voice is a little too bright but at least his tone isn't as strained. " Everything's fine-" That sounds like too obvious of a lie! " Ryu is just hungry! Haha~" " What is that supposed to mean?!" The Oni affects a more annoyed mien and appears more likely to bite Hemlock's hand than anything, so Sorachi shoulders his way in front of him and gives the sorcerer a firm shake. " I'm Sorachi and that is Ryuzaki, pleased to meet you!" Miss Zinna saves them from further awkwardness, but with her is a different brand of tension. She smilingly congratulates them but it doesn't reach her eyes and her words sound hollow. Sorachi very carefully doesn't frown, although the corners of his mouth twitch as if it wants to. What happened? Not that it's any of his business but-! " Thank you Miss Zinna, we couldn't have done it without you." His voice is soft, sapphire gaze quickly skimming her face and posture before he averts it so as not to make his assessment obvious. She was fine this morning, she was called away while they were chatting, Miss Ada just wondered what happened to her cell- Ah! If she's being assigned to a team of Azures, then something must have happened to her team of Ambers! Oh...now he sees. The antlers of his badge digs into his palm again. There's nothing he can do or say. Sorachi doesn't know Miss Zinna and he doesn't know her former cell. It must hurt to be assigned a new one...like wiping a beloved painting from the face of a canvas. Unconsciously, the fingers of his other hand curl into the hem of Ryuzaki's shirt. The Headmistress had mentioned death quite liberally in her speech. It's something that a school like this would be accustomed to, but the almost shell-shocked look in her auburn eyes makes it clear that one doesn't always think much on it happening to them. And yet...this is their new reality. Suddenly, all that cheer and excitement he had been feeling crashes and dies at the altar of this new realization. Sorachi blinks hard against tears, desperate not to let it show. He wishes there was something he could do for her, but for now he can only try to shift the group's attention before they examine her as closely. Miss Zinna is trying to put on a brave face even though she didn't need to approach them at all, he wants to honor that. " Well, it looks like we're all here now. Why don't we go eat?" He smiles and sheepishly rubs at the back of his neck. " We're going to stand out, just standing around while everyone is seated haha..." ><><>< || Theron Jaeger || The Great Hall / snowheart1 -- Theron immediately begins serving himself, skipping over the golden crepes stuffed with strawberry cream with a sigh and longing look. He'd fallen short in the number of pull-ups he set for himself that morning due to an injured shoulder, but that's no excuse. He can't have any non-essential sweets until he can make up for it in his pre-lunch training. So, plain fruit will have to do. But he can have all the meat he wants! Theron silently fork-jousts with the Teal across from him for the remainder of the bacon while responding to Clarissa. " Really? Haah I'm so looking forward to finally meeting her! Where is she? Don't you want to sit with her?" Once he'd found out that his cellmate's half-sister was attending, Theron had hounded her for details. He's always in awe of real sorcery! Sure he had magic, but it was both meagre and rather lame. Just enough to qualify him for the school but not yet enough to make him feel like he was really doing anything. This is the year he changes that, however! And maybe- " D'you think she'd train with me? I'd love to see lunar magic in action! Master Astrara barely does demonstrations of her own magic-" He trails off to give a triumphant ' ha!' when he sends his opponent's fork flying and snatches up the platter of bacon with his free hand to dump on his own plate. " Hey-! Jaeger what the hell?!" " Pay more attention in your Arnis lessons, Darnic~" Theron jeers, taking a triumphant bite of three slices at once. The older girl curses and throws the crust of her french toast at him, but he dodges it when he leans across the table to snag a pouch of fresh blood for Clarissa. As a dhampir she can eat normal food, but blood will always sustain her better. The brunet passes it to her while turning in his seat to address the voice that answered her question. He has to chew fast so that his mouth is clear when he speaks. " Hey!" Theron waves and makes a show of moving aside to give the other brunet space. " I'm assuming you already know our names too, we do have classes together~" Accustomed to competing for food with older siblings, Theron successfully wrangles more food options for their side of the table. He doesn't know Atlas personally, but Alas tend to have big appetites. " Welcome to the team! You use a sword, right? Sounds like it'd synergize well~" Their old cellmate couldn't cut it in the end, but she was never any good in the first place. Having a Teal would definitely help their cell improve! Theron couldn't wait to see him in action- no, he'd rather cross weapons with him first! " I think we share a Weaponry class today, d'you wanna be my sparring partner?" Theron turns wide green eyes on him, silently communicating a ' please say yes!' ><><>< || Armistice Latharn || The Great Hall / Dew snowheart1 -- Armistice felt...off-kilter in the wake of their overly friendly cicerone. He had been left standing with the other member of his cell while the tables steadily filled up. Others were introducing themselves...he wants to simply disappear into the crowds but perhaps this is a necessary step. Trying not to appear as stiff as he feels, he turns toward the dark-haired girl and gives her a curt nod. " I am Armistice Latharn. You should already know that, but it would appear that courtesy would have me repeat it. I do not need to hear your name again." There, that should be sufficient. He turns to walk away but then a blonde approaches them both with another of those banal greetings. Armistice suppresses a sigh. " Yes, thank you. I will keep that in mind." He may yet take her up on the offer. He hates being unmoored in new environments. Nothing is as it should be and it makes his skin crawl. " If you'll excuse me." He dips his head and side-steps the blonde before starting toward the table that seated the most Kirin. It would appear that other students were grouping up based on teams or inter-house friendships, but he had neither so sitting where he should be makes the most sense. Armistice's body is tense as he finds a place at the end of the table but struggles to find a way to sit that doesn't involve making some kind of contact with another person. His normally placid features twist into a frown as he's jostled by laughing students serving themselves or reaching for food. He has never been around so many people at once. The entire situation is a nightmare. Biting into the inside of his cheek with enough force that it's in danger of tearing, the cambion wordlessly takes the food-laden plate a kind-looking older student had handed him and rises to move swiftly toward the stained windows on the darker side of the room. He sits with his legs folded and the plate in his lap, carefully eating with the utensils he'd thought to grab before making his escape. He can feel the soft blue gaze of his cicerone settling over his skin but studiously ignores it.

Clarissa|Great Hall|endingfairy dewbranch
Clarissa shakes her head at Theron's overly enthusiastic food gathering. "You should ask Stella herself, if she comes over." She takes the blood pouch with a simple "Thanks."
Clarissa turns to her other Cellmate. (Atlas?) "A Teal, huh? What happened to your Cell?" She smirks at Theron's excited, star-struck chatter, taking a long sip of the blood pouch.
Stella|Great Hall|dewbranch endingfairy
Stella smiles warmly at Lilia. "Hey, Lil! I'm Stella, as you know." She shuffles her feet nervously. "This is kind of a silly question, but why are they called 'Cells'? Doesn't that sound too...ominous?"
She stares after Armistice. "Is he okay? He seems...upset." She hesitates, debating whether to sit with him or her sister and her friends. She takes a few steps toward him, then turns back towards Clarissa. "He probably wants to be alone," she mumbles to herself. She heads to sit near her sister, but sends one final look towards Armistice.
"Hi!" She gives a small wave towards Clarissa's Cellmates. "I'm Stella, Clarissa's half-sister."
