|| Sorachi KiΕ‘o || Pheltronan Caverns / dewbranch -- Somehow, he was able to control the tremors in his hands well enough not to spill the ink or smudge the ofuda too terribly. With the slowly dampening paper on her throat (likely scraped raw by antlers) Sorachi painstakingly inscribes the letters to a spell that would seal and cleanse the wounds the blonde had suffered. He had a hunch after seeing the strange reddish tint to Ryu's naturally black blood, and he is proven right when the ofuda glows white and causes the witch's deathly pale skin to become luminous as well. "Whatever they are, they're cursed." He mutters to himself, pressing a thumb to her weak pulse. It isn't becoming fainter, at least. Sorachi had been desperately tuning out the sound of his friend fighting for their lives, so Miss Ada's words take a few moments to register in his frazzled brain. "H-huh? Oh...They're healing now." Not fast enough. His pool of mana has expanded with his training but he's never had to use it on such severe injuries or potent curses. Shishou could only teach him enough to get through the qualifiers...already his body is feeling lighter and the flickering lights are casuing his stomach to churn. Ah, or perhaps that's the smell of blood and offal.
He weaves in place before steadying himself with a hand on the ground, hunched over the witch's prone body. "I- how are you holding up?" Sorachi lifts his heavy head and forces his eyes to focus on the healer's wan face. "If...if you can. I can keep them from getting worse but I may not be able to close it completely." His words emerge in a single rough breath and he gasps for another.
Against his better judgment, perhaps, he allows his attention to shift upward to where Ryuzaki is wrestling with no less than three of the not-deer now. The others are inching closer but he's keeping them at bay by occasionally grabbing one and flinging a body into their midst. It's heartening to see that he's still standing...but so are they. They don't seem to tire or suffer any injuries. Sorachi suspects the only reason they're all still alive is that the not-deer are...toying with them or else don't see them as a threat. But their unsteady, inexorable approach makes him almost wish they'd just get it over with. The fear and dread is worse. Knowing that there's nothing you can do...that they may be slowed but they will reach you in the end-
But- but no. He can't think like that. Ryu said they're getting out of this alive and he has to believe him. He has to- Sorachi's voice creaks a bit when he speaks. "R-Ryu! They're...just your strength alone won't work on them! You need to-"
"Fine! I'll just hit them harder!" He tears off a spindly leg and uses it to block another thrust of the not-deer's razor-sharp antlers. The leg is apparently able to move independently, because it kicks him in the face before bursting into a pile of maggots. Ryuzaki flings it into another of the creature's eyes before hastily backing away, slapping at the ones attempting to burrow into his arms. His long sleeves are torn and littered with bite marks, dripping reddish blood onto the already stained ground.
Sorachi huffs, "Use your lightning!"
"I can't! You haven't made me your shikigami yet!" Oh, right! He'd totally forgotten in his haste to help the witch! Stupid! He's such an idiot why didn't he think-!
"We- we'll just have to risk it! You have enough to work with, don't you?" He grits his teeth, already preparing wooden ofuda for the spells necessary to contain the Oni. "And I'll create a barrier!" With his current strength and skill level, it should withstand at least three solid hits.
Ryuzaki spares a second to glance their way, meeting his determined gaze with one of his own. "Okay." He catches one of the deer ambling toward Ada around the neck and slams it into the ground to be pinned by his boot. "Just say when." Where before they'd been shouting to be heard over the struggle, the cambion's tone is now quiet and resigned.
Trying not to misspell in his rush, Sorachi inscribes a simple barrier spell to only cover three people and tosses the wooden tablet into the air. It hovers a few inches above his head, casting a shimmering azure glow over them. To maintain the barrier he must cancel his spell on the injured witch, but she's stable enough that he hopes Miss Ada can finish up the healing. "I'll leave her to you. Please, don't worry about anything else you see or hear. I'll make sure the barrier holds. Ryu!"
One of the not-deer is steadily tearing off one of Ryuzaki's arms but he allows himself to fall to his knees, head bowed. Sorachi can't bear to watch him be attacked in his vulnerable state, clenching shaking hands as he stares desperately at a blessedly blood-free space on the ground with tears in his eyes. The sound of tearing flesh nearly makes him retch, so he hurriedly presses his hands to his ears and counts down from ten.
At seven, fine hairs on the back of his neck stand up and the air hums with energy. On nine, the cavern splits with the shriek of electricity and a wave of heat blows over them, unsticking sweaty bangs from his face. Sorachi opens his eyes to see Ryuzaki standing over one of the creatures as it twitches with an electrical current, another held up by the neck by a hand that is slowly knitting itself back together. His aubergine hair has come loose from its tie, floating around his shoulders and occasionally sparking blue.
The onmyΕji lets out a shaky breath of relief, only to suck it back in when a not-deer suddenly appears at the edge of the barrier and rams its twisted antlers into it. He rocks with the force of it, nearly biting his tongue.
'That's one.'

|| Amalareiks Arlind || Pheltronan Caverns / Ravenshadow --
Now that she'd healed well enough to move, Amalareiks rocked back onto his heels and pulled his gloves back on. He hummed thoughtfully at Zinna's inquiry. "I'm taking care of you two, first. Our original path has been blocked so I'll be guiding you closer to the entrance." Her second series of questions prompts a snort. Short answer? Everyone. "I'll see about that when I get there~"
The other cambion is already on her feet and beginning to walk away with a hasty dismissal. It surprises a laugh out of him. "Exit's this way." Rex stands and stretches, tail swaying as he tilts his head to the right. "We're taking another passage way that leads back to where you started."
He leads them out at a trot, keeping the pace swift but manageable. Neither girl seems very inclined to speak and for once, Rex lets it be. He's already planning out his next few courses of action. The sudden appearance of massive auras alerts him to the fact that the Cicerone have entered the Caverns, cutting his responsibility in half~ As soon as he splits off, he still needs to rendezvous with Ymir and her pack, however.
"Here we are~." Amalareiks halts at a narrow entrance that slopes downward. "This will take you into a cavern closer to where you entered from. One more tunnel will be on your left and then it's straight on to the main path." Although he's ostensibly speaking to both of them, his eyes flicker briefly toward Zinna. She would know what he's talking about, likely having been trained in Pheltronan a time or two.
"Well then ladies," He grins and sketches a bow. "It's been fun~ If you're lucky, I'll see you during the Welcome Feast~ Keep your wits about you, and watch each other's backs."
With that said, he turns on his heel and takes the other fork. Pace steady and unhurried- but as soon as he's cleared the corner, Rex sprints. He's already taking out his Scrying mirror and shaking it to get Micha's attention.
"Report. How many dead?"
"Too many. This is...it's unprecedented-"

Onyx | endingfairy dewbranchShe rolled her eyes at his comment, but followed him out of the tunnel until he dashed off in a different direction. What a weirdo Her eyes wandered along the jagged walls for a moment before a short scream and a few crashes caught her attention from an adjoining room. Quietly she said to Zinna, βI wonder if itβs students, or perhaps some sort of demon tricking us into a trap.β But regardless, she cautiously walked into the room where the screams were coming from and nearly vomited at the vile smell of rotting flesh that entered her nose. There were three other people in the room who were battlingβ¦ deer? Her mind became blank. Why in the hell were there deer in these caves? But then after a moment of thought she saw the deer attack one of the students so it was right next to their face. Whatever they were, they were obviously hostile. Onyxβs hand flew to her dagger and she sprinted across the room before stabbing the deer in the side and dragging it away, wrestling with the writhing and bucking demon. (Idk whether her dagger can kill these things so imma wait for your response before continuing XD)

| Ada Hendrix | Pheltronan Caverns (endingfairy, Ravenshadow)
Ada let out a long sigh, closing her eyes for a moment. When she opens her eyes again, Sorachi is watching Ryuzaki bravely fight the strange stags. I think we can all tell he's losing. She winces. No on was supposed to die! No. Ada took another deep breath, no one was going to die, not under her watch. "Use your lightning!" Sorachi called up to his friend. Of course! Ryuzaki must be an Oni Cambion! Ada couldn't believe that she hadn't thought of it before, but it wasn't as if she knew that much about them. No one in her village had met one, so all she had were the books about them. That was how she had learned most of the stuff she knew.
"Oh-Okay" Ada said, letting out another shaky breath. At that moment, one of the not-deer comes charing towards her, but Ryuzaki manages to catch it and shove it off course. Her stomach churned. We could all die here. She didn't know how strong Ryuzaki's lightning was going to be, but based on the two boys earlier conversation, Ada guessed that he didn't have much control over how much or how controlled it was. Ada looked away from Ryuzaki and Sorachi, and turned back to the girl who needed her help. She took the thermos again, and repeated the process she had before. This time she kept her eyes open, putting her hands on the blondes injured leg. Her eyes were narrowed in concentration, and Ada's wrists started to glow again.
Concentrate, Concentrate.... The sounds were gone. All she could see, all she could do, all she could think about was finishing this. Ada was not going to let this girl die. Not under my watch. She believed it now. The skin started to heal over, and the girl let out one long, (shaky) deep breath, before her breathing went shallow again.
All of the sudden, the cavern filled with light, and Ada finally noticed that all her hair was standing on end. She closed her eyes as Ryuzaki unleashed his lighting, and the bright flash blinded her for a second. When she opened her eyes again, It seemed things had flipped. Ryuzaki seemed to have the upper hand, for the time being, as the 'stags' started to twitch with the electric energy. As Ada was surveying the rest of the cavern, she did not notice the 'stag' race at the two of them, kneeling at the side of the girl. It rammed its head against the barrier that Sorachi had made, and it shook. Again, Ada took a deep breath and blew it out.
When she opened her eyes again, two more girls were in the cave, and they looked like they were ready to fight. One of them, (a cambion, probably of dragon decent) had a dagger in one of the stag's sides. The other girl was standing near the entrance, and their eyes locked for a second before the girl went to go help the cambion with the stag they were battling. "How are you doing?" She asked Sorachi. Her eyes darted around the cavern one more time, before they settle on Sorachi as she waited for his answer.
(I'll get Zinna's up soonish? This one took me a very long time so I want to put it up so I can get something up for today)

| Zinna Heartbrook | Pheltronan Caverns (endingfairy, Ravenshadow)
Zinna rolled her eyes behind Rex's back. She could do this, and even if she did need his help with the gorgon, Zinna could guide herself through the caverns. "Thank you" Zinna said, because she thought it would be the right thing to say. Rex then turned, and started to walk away. Zinna and Onyx turned down the other path, walking for bit. About 2 minutes before they entered the cavern they were aiming for, the stench of blood hit the duo. She noticed Onyx gag, and Zinna turned slightly pale, but otherwise she just ignored it. Zinna broke out in a run, skidding to a stop when they saw the bodies.
That was the first thing she noticed. About maybe 5 dead, from her estimate. Another hopeful was struggling with a creature. It had long antlers, and their heads flopped back and forth, as though their heads were too heavy for their bodies. Two other hopefuls (a witch and a warlock) were crouching down beside a girl who was barely breathing. The witch happened to look up at that moment, pushing her orange hair out of her sweaty face. Zinna looked around, and spotted Onyx struggling with one of the 'not-deer'. She pulled out her sword, and charged at tackling it with Onyx. "How are you doing?" She asked. She didn't know how Onyx was going to hold up, with her injurings and all.
At that moment one of the hooves kicked her in the stomach, and she spit onto the stag she was fighting. Urg. Her brief moment of hesitaion let one of the stags get a hit on her left leg, and that started bleeding. Zinna turned around, shoving fire into the stags face.

|| Sorachi KiΕ‘o || Pheltronan Caverns / dewbranch Ravenshadow -- Sorachi gives the witch a wan smile, trying to inject confidence that he is struggling to feel into the watery movement of his lips. " I'm fine. Please, don't worry about me." In order to facilitate that, he plants his hands so that he's no longer weaving in place and inclines his head toward the appearance of unexpected backup. " We're going to be okay." He's willing it into existence. It's such a relief to know that they're no longer fighting alone. The pair who appeared at a hidden entrance on their left had immediately leapt into action, dragging away the not-deer that was threatening the onmyΕji's barrier. He can breathe easier now, and it looks like the blonde they'd been treating could as well. When she twitches and opens her eyes, Sorachi practically beams down at her with relief that causes his shoulders to sag further. " H-hello! Are you-" She interrrupts, voice raw but forceful. " I t'ld you to leave. There's no- you can't-" Can't...what? His smile immediately drops, wide gaze briefly flitting to the bloody world outside of their barrier. Ryuzaki's already wild fighting has become more savage. The Oni's smile is a wide, jagged slash of white against a face almost completely covered in blood. He's tearing into the demonic creatures with claws and fangs alike, entire body humming with electricity that randomly sparks off of him in uncontrolled arcs. On the surface it appears as if he has the upper hand, but his blood is slowly becoming redder and the not-deer are still- are there more of them now?! Ryuzaki grabs an as-of-yet uninjured one by the antlers and whips it toward the girls when their fight took them too close. His snarl is punctuated by another crack of lightning that carves his face into sharp angles. " That one's mine!" He's reverted to Japanese now that his higher functions have been dominated by violence, forgetting the creatures gnawing at him entirely in favor of starting toward the newcomers with minacious intent. Sorachi scrambles for the sealing and purification ofuda, biting into a finger until it bleeds to smear crimson over the kanji. But to use them he would have to drop the barrier. Ryu has strayed from the line he'd previously been defending, and with all three combatants distracted, there would be no one left to prevent a stray not-deer from biting his head off or worse- hurting Miss Ada. Heart in his throat, his attention drops back to the injured witch. " How do we stop them?! W-what are they?!" " We don't know." She's fighting the loss of consciousness, hazel eyes alight with determination. " Just run. Throw my body to distract them and run." She weakly closes the last three fingers on her right hand around his and gives a squeeze that is likely meant to be reassuring. " I can't...do that." Sorachi mutters weakly, breath coming in quick gasps as he struggles not to hyperventilate. He promised Ada that he wouldn't let the barrrier drop. But Ryu- Ryu's getting closer to the girls and the electric current around him is getting more powerful with his rage but at least- at least he isn't hungry. Yet. Searching for some sort of solution, Sorachi's eyes wildly bounce around the cavern until an oily sheen in the shadows catches his attention. It's a strangely shaped...spell? Portal? That flutters like a veil in a nonexistent breeze. Another not-deer emerges from within, stumbling toward them. There are probably seventeen in all now. His sapphire eyes dart back and forth between the veil and Ryuzaki, a plan forming. It's utterly reckless and possibly plain stupid, unlike what he'd normally overexamine and ruminate on before putting into action- but there's no time. " M-Miss Ada," Sorachi breathes, turning to her with a determined set to his jaw. " There's a Tear in the Veil on the other side of the cave that is allowing those demons to pass through. I may be able to close it-" May being the operative word here. He's been trained to close demonic passages but again, has never had the opportunity to put it into effect. And he doesn't even know if his magic will work on...whatever it is. But taking a page from Ryu's messy playbook: He has to, so he will. " My barrier will hold twice more but I will have to drop it to focus on the Tear." Here his tone becomes pleading, voice soft and eyes wide as he meets hers. " I-I need to ask something of you that is very..." He runs a shaking hand through his hair before reaching into his satchel and pulling out a mirror shard. " If-if you wouldn't mind- it would help if you could..." The onmyΕji trails off before starting again. " You would need to make a small cut on- on your hand or something. When Ryuzaki smells your blood, he will come this way and can defend you from any of the creatures that approach." He cringes. " You can heal yourself right after! We just need to get his attention. I would do it myself but he's too accustomed to my blood." Ryu already knows how it tastes." Of course, you don't have to if you don't want to! If you could help me lift her, we can move together and carry the witch to the Tear under the cover of my spell." He doesn't have much confidence in that working, but he can't ask this stranger to put herself in more danger than she already is. It's all his fault to begin with. Gritting his teeth, Sorachi carefully begins to remove the injured witch from his lap and gently places her on the ground. In the distance, Ryuzaki is temporarily held at bay by the witch wielding a longsword, evading her swings even as he presses closer. The not-deer are taking this opportunity to isolate the draconic cambion while the majority make their way to the downed students behind Sorachi's barrier. He avoids their gaze as he rises unsteadily. Time is of the essence. He needs to run before they're surrrounded. " Whatever you choose, we'll succeed together. I-I won't let you come to harm." That...that sounds like something an Exorcist would say, doesn't it? If he wants to become one, he'll have to start acting like it. And that begins with risking his life. He can't keep hiding behind his friend. Sorachi exhales slowly, eyes narrowing. Right. He can do this.

Onyx | endingfairy dewbranch (*becomes a writer epik fight scenes*) With a grunt, Onyx shoved the deer thing off of her. Her dagger didnβt seem to kill it but at least it was injured now. Then she heard a cracking noise as one of the deer hind kicked her in the face, right on the nose. Blood was pouring from it now and she groaned in pain as she felt her now broken nose. Jesus. The amount of things Iβve broken today is absolutely ridiculous. But now anger was boiling up inside of her. With a vicious stab, she pinned the deer to the ground and spat toxic smoke in its face. It screamed an inhuman scream, and laid there still breathing but incapacitated. She kicked it right on its own nose and felt a ripple of satisfaction run through her as it whimpered while blood streamed from its own nose and mouth. But she wasnβt out of it yet. There were three more deer that cornered her, and they looked about as pissed as a deer can. She gripped the handle of her blade tighter as she backed up, spitting blood from her mouth as she went. Eventually she felt her wings hit a wall and internally she cursed at herself. Never back into a corner! Have you learned nothing? βAlrighty then.β She muttered under her breath as she pulled at the darkness around her. When one of them got too close, she pulled a rope of it at them and it gracefully tied itself around the stagβs legs and it fell to the ground. One down, too many more to go. A plan was formulating in her mind. Then she took a deep breath, and executed said plan. She charged at the deer, and they did the same. Heads down and antlers forward as they hurtled towards her. Just when they were about four inches away, she barrel rolled to the side and watched as they crashed into the wall and their spiky horns shattered against the hard surface. Then as they were recuperating she jumped onto one of them and began stabbing it in the eyes as it bucked and ran around in small circles as it tried in vain to get her off. The second deer followed and when it got close enough Onyx deftly jumped off the deer with a flap of wings and watched as the first deer impaled the second with its blunt but still sharp horns. They fell to the ground and she quickly covered them with ropes of shadows and tightened them around their throats until their eyes bulged and their tongues were forced out of their mouths. Even through she couldnβt kill them, she chopped at their tightened skin until eventually they were mostly decapitated and blood was pooling around them. Blood was still pouring from Onyxβs own face, but she scooped up darkness and drank it for a moment, letting the cool sensation run down her throat and into her chest. Eventually with a small cracking noise and a burst of pain her nose snapped back into place and the blood slowed. She sighed with relief and allowed herself a second sip. It was like ice cold water, and it tasted so good to Onyx. But eventually she was forced back into the fray where she began stabbing deer at random and blowing smoke into their faces when she got the chance.

| Ada Hendrix | Pheltronan Caverns (endingfairy, Ravenshadow)
Ada found it somewhat reassuring that the blonde girl had woken up. What was not reassuring was that the girl didn't know what the stags things were either. Fun. Really Fun. And ever since Ryuzaki had called the lightning... well, she wasn't sure what to think. He looked as though he was enjoying the fight. Ryuzaki scared her sometimes. The two girls that had entered the cavern were fighting the stags as well know, but one of them was cornered. Even if she was really good with her magic, she was still a hopeful, and hadn't had any training yet. Well, so am I, we all are, probably.
"Just run. Throw my body to distract them and run." The girl said. "No! No!" Ada insitsed, at the same time Sorachi said "I can't...do that" He turned to her, and started to tell her his plan. Getting rid of the barrier worried her, but Sorachi's plan sound good. "I'll do it" Ada said quickly, her eyes locking with his. "Go - go do what you are going to do" She took a deep breath, then turned to the blonde. "Do you have any weapons on you?" She asked.
The girl nodded, and patted her torso. Ada felt around until she felt it, a small dagger. She took it out, and cut herself right in the middle of her palm. Ouch. "I did it" She said, turning to him. Ada have him a quick smile. "Just try to do it fast, with a small cut like this my body is going to try and heal itself and I don't want to cut myself again" Her smile faltered, and she turned her attention to her hand, trying to stop it from healing over. Just wait a little longer....
| Zinna Heartbrook | Pheltronan Caverns
Zinna didn't like these deer. A few quick swipes told her that they couldn't be killed, and a few more told her that they could move their body parts when they weren't attached to their body. Her main priority was to protect Onyx and the other hopefuls who were in the cavern, but that seemed like a pretty big feat considering how many deer there were compared to how many beings were fighting. That ratio didn't really work in their favor.
Suddenly, one of the deer antlers was thrown at her, and she had to jerk to the side as to not get hit with it. The cambion who was fighting when they had gotten there didn't do anything to settle her nerves, to say the least. The cambion had however succeeded in distracting her, and one of the deer things pierced her with their antlers on her hip. She blasted more fire into its face, then spun around and aimed the tip of her sword into a deer's eye. She narrowly missed, instead stabbing it in the nose.
By now, her leg wound was annoying her. Just shake it off. But how had they managed kill so many? By happenstance she started to look in Onyx's direction, (maybe it was the chill that went down her spine whenever she used her powers?) and saw that the cambion was surrounded. First rule of fighting, never get yourself backed into a corner. She threw a fireball into the oncoming deer thing that blinded it for a moment, and ran to the corner Onyx has back into.
She seemed to be doing pretty good, but who knows how long an untrained injured hopeful could last? The chill was more prominent closer its caster, and Zinna narrowed her eyes. Her fire wouldn't work here, all that would do is make both of their magic weaker. Well, I'll just use my sword then. No biggie. But fighting these not-deer without her fire, well let's just say she wasn't so confident.
"Onyx! Focus on the deer closer to you, and I got the ones that are incoming! Try and make yourself look bigger, right now they might think your easy prey!" Zinna wasn't so sure that was how it worked, but that is how most predators acted, and if she was a stag, well, that is what she would do. And with that, she raised her sword and started trying to ward off the deer things.

Onyx | dewbranch endingfairyLooking up from her fighting, Onyx saw Zinna come over with her sword drawn. Damn it, she probably can't use her fire because its too cold over here. Faintly over the din of noise she heard the fire wielder call to her, "Make yourself bigger!" She felt felt a deer thing close to her, and stabbed it in the eye which blinded it for the time being. " Zinna! Go for the eyes when you're fighting them, that way they're easier to incapacitate!" While she wasn't sure if the girl had heard her, she had no time to worry about that. Make myself bigger... hmmm... Suddenly it came to her. Of course! She unfolded her wings to their full capacity. They were beautiful by her own standards, and big enough to make herself look about three times larger. The leathery webbing in between each of them was thick and battle scarred, with claws at the end of the main parts that held it all together. The deer paused for a moment after seeing how much bigger she looked now. She began attacking them with the claws at the ends of the wings, flapping them and when she got the chance, stabbing the deer. Slowly but surely she de-cornered herself and folded them neatly against her back when she was out of the corner. The other cambion who had been slicing through the deer with ease sped past her, and the only thing she was able to make out was the whirling blades and a glimpse of blue. She dodged out of his way and went to a different wall, allowing herself to melt into the darkness for a moment and take a breather. The moment was short lived however and she soon had to start fighting again. Hopefully there's some way to get these things to die, but for now all I need to worry about is getting out of this alive.

|| Sorachi KiΕ‘o || Pheltronan Caverns / dewbranch Ravenshadow-- "Miss Ada..." There was a 50% chance of her agreeing (if he was being generous) but he hadn't expected her to do so readily. She holds his gaze with a smile and slices into her hand with nary a flinch. For a moment he can only stare. She...trusts him? To do this properly, even knowing that he is no more of an Exorcist or skilled sorcerer than she? But there's no more time to marvel at that- Ryuzaki's attention has shifted from the cambion and sorceress. Sorachi can tell by the familiar weight of his demonic gaze. "Tha-" Should he thank her? Does she know what she's getting into? Would it be worse if he tells her? He doesn't know but again there's no time.
"I'm sorry!" He bursts out instead, leaning forward to cup her hands and place a paper ofuda into the injured one. Her blood will make the spell stronger. "When the barrier breaks, press this onto Ryuzaki."
Sorachi shuffles the rest into his hands and whips around quickly enough to make himself dizzy. The injured sorceress weakly calls out to him, but his attention is on the active ones attempting to keep the not-deer busy. They had succeeded until they started prevailing, the cursed creatures turning their attention toward easier- and more fearful- prey in the form of the healer and onmyΕji. Still, he's been afforded a headstart and he needs to make it count.
One more trembling breath and he's off. Sorachi is not particularly fast, nor does he have much in the way of stamina, but it seems fear and adrenaline can propel him further faster than he's ever run before. No- he can recall one other instance- but it doesn't bear to think about it now. Not when his current circumstances are exponentially worse. He takes the most direct path to the glittering Tear, occasionally slowing to stumbling almost-halts to slap an ofuda to the bloodied ground before moving on. The spell he is about to cast is one he's only seen once and knows the basic mechanics of- a Simultaneous Sealing that will create a feedback loop between the Oni and cursed opening in their world. It would only be possible with a cambion of Ryu's caliber, but even then the onmyΕji would likely sacrifice half his life to even attempt it. He'd be vulnerable afterward but that's not really much of a drawback- he's always vulnerable, isn't he?
Sorachi slides to his knees, wincing as sharp rocks cut into the thin fabric of his pants as he evades a snap of a not-deer's fangs and positions his mirror shard against an oblong stone. He scrambles to his feet, heart hammering in his throat as he carefully dodges around another attempt at biting into him. He'd observed from Ryuzaki's first clash that they move with incredible speed when their prey does the same. They'd just been ambling toward him until he started using his supernatural reflexes. A glance at the other combatants reveals the same behavior.
Ah. No. That's worse.
The draconic cambion had switched to using her wings and the not-deer responded by standing up on their hindlegs and moving in some absurd facsimile of a drunken human. They grew even bigger. And any limbs or body parts that were lopped off became replaced with some sort of formless darkness that was nonetheless solid enough to put a dent in the cave wall when they made a jab with flickering hooves.
"E-excuse me!" His voice is weak but with the relative silence of the creatures, he hopes he can get the girls' attention. "Could you cover me, please?!" He thinks that's the correct terminology..!
Even backing away from a threat of his own, Sorachi's wide eyes immediately dart to Miss Ada and Ryu. The Oni had done exactly as he'd thought, ignoring the legitimate threats in favor of targeting more appealing prey. He was visibly pleased at the scent of her pure magical blood but quickly switches to snarling in frustration when the not-deer began swarming as well. He was forced to fight them off, leaving the healer relatively safe for now. Oh- one of the creatures reared up on its hindlegs and slammed him into the barrier, causing it to flicker and rebound back into Sorachi's chest.
'That's two.'
He notes this absently, the pain of his magic being assaulted causing him to stumble again. The not-deer that had been hounding him finally sank its teeth into the arm he raised as a weak defense and Sorachi swallows a scream of pain. It felt worse than Ryu's bites, somehow. More tearing than crushing. He can feel some kind of curse spreading through the wound-
Sorachi swings his other arm up and places the other ofuda in his own mouth so that he can spare one to smack into the not-deer's face. It begins smoking but the spell is too weak to do much damage. Paper shifts between his teeth as he spins away and tears his arm out with a cry of pain, leaving a significant amount still lodged in serrated teeth. He runs, leaving a trail of blood as he sprints the last few feet toward the Tear and nearly tumbles right into another creature moseying through.
The pain and blood loss is making spots of black pool at the corners of his vision but he forces his torn arm up to take the damp ofuda from his mouth and spread them around the Tear. Infused with his dwindling mana, they glow and slowly rise into the air. Entirely focused on the next steps, Sorachi dips away from the lazy snaps of the new demon and raises his uninjured arm toward the ofuda whilst stepping sideways again so that he can look behind him.
Ryuzaki is using the decapitated head of a not-deer (still snapping at his face) to finally shatter Sorachi's barrier and the onmyΕji spits blood onto the ground to yell, "Miss Ada, now!"
They need to time this exactly right! His hair begins to glow a brighter blue, whipping around with the force of his magic as he locks eyes with her, not breaking contact even when the not-deer chomps down on his shoulder.

( I just realized that Sora cannot catch a break...it can always get worse~
And Onyx can't control the shadows that the not-deer exude because they're made of something different! )

| Ada Hendrix | Pheltronan Caverns (endingfairy, Ravenshadow)Ada did feel as though she could trust Sorachi, but then again, was she fully sure? He seemed trust worthy, and he had always been nice to her, but you never judge a book by its cover. By now, that the adrenaline had worn off, her hand really hurt. She turned to face Sorachi again, and he was running across the cavern, towards the tear. Ada really, really hoped he wouldn't die. But now that she was thinking about it, why had he apologized before he had left? Was was Ryuzaki going to do?
Ada tore her eyes away from Sorachi, and instead focused on Ryuzaki. He seemed to have his eyes on her, while fighting the not-deer at the same time. Really, she needed to find a better name than not-deer things. She looked at her palm again, and then back at Ryuzaki. That look - well it was very unsettling. She took a step back. I trust him I trust him I trust him. Sorachi wouldn't have made her do something that would put in her greater danger, right?
By now, the Oni was using a decapitated deer head to smash against the barrier. She winced as it shook, and from the other end Sorachi feel to his knees. Her eyes widened with fear as Ryuzaki smashes against the barrier and it finally gave way. "Miss Ada, now!" Sorachi yelled, and their eyes locked. She shuddered at one of the deer snapped on his shoulder, but his eyes seemed to be pleading. And so, Ada turned on Ryuzaki, and pushed the paper up against the Oni.
| Zinna Heartbrook | Pheltronan Caverns
It had seemed that their plan had gone hopelessly wrong. Well her plan. Once Onyx spread her wings, the deer started standing up. I swear, these things are SO ANNOYING. Zinna maneuvered and stabbed, but they didn't seem to be getting any weaker, only stronger really, and the deer seemed to absorb what she did, and knew what her next move would be.
Luckily, it seemed that Onyx had gotten to a shadowy corner, or the cambion had ditched them. But from the vibes she had gotten from the hopeful, she seemed to be a fighter. Zinna's head started to hurt, trying to fight the deer but also cover all the hopefuls at the same time.
She didn't know if it was the voice or her seeing it out of the corner of her eye, but one of the hopefuls, a warlock, had called out to them. He needed help. "Coming!" She called. She stabbed the stag in front of her in the eye, then turned and sliced at the front hoof of the deer to her left. It was warming up now, and she could feel the strength coming back into her fingers.
With the moment's distraction she had caused the deer, Zinna sprinting over to the guy, short with blue hair. He was looking in the direction of another girl, medium orange hair with a lot of freckles. "I got you!" She smashed her sword into the side of a deer that was chomping on his shoulder, and it stumbled back a little, surprised. "Do what you got to do! I got you covered" She said. Her shirt was drenched with sweat, and she engulfed the deer in fire, stabbing into the flames.
