Last year, on my 2023 debate thread about the best Clan, I already mentioned to propose the one for 2024 be about the best arc. And since no one has made a 2024 debate thread yet, I've just decided to go ahead with it today. I included the currently still ongoing 8th arc ASC as well since it'll conclude this year in November. So people are thus able to judge it in full. Although I'm aware that quite a few already consider it to be their favorite one. While there is a difference between something being the best or favorite thing, those opinions are still subjective and thus can both mean the same thing regarding how people vote on here. Meaning that there is no wrong answer. My vote went to TNP. Which I fully know will not be a popular choice on here or has been on any other thread with that same question, for valid reasons. So instead, I'll just sit back and watch the popular votes hash it out lol. Please keep in mind that this is once again just a friendly debate/fun discussion and be respectful of each other and different opinions, thank you. I will bump this thread up as much as possible, seeing as I want it to at least survive one year like the previous one will have by next month.

The Prophecies Begin will always be my favourite, though The Broken Code is a very close second.

It's a tie between PoT and TBC for me, but for the sake of this thread, I'm going with TBC.

I loved The Broken Code.
Small note but thanks for making the poll results hidden until voting. I hate seeing the results beforehand and it always influences my decision based upon the highest voted option 😭😭

I'm a minority lover of TNP I see lmao
TNP is my favourite from childhood and again as an adult; especially since I've been reading everything in chronological order. I've spent a lot of time reading in the Old Forest setting- TNP takes them out of this setting and introduces the Tribe which is great in THIS series, (didn't like the tribe so much in later books) which was a great tie in obvi for DOTC and the Old Forest continuing to get developed after displacing SkyClan while sad was fitting. Also perhaps because of this it's a favourite series of mine because it's similar to The Animals of Farthing Wood.

I was wondering where some of my fellow people went because I remember a thread from last year on which a few more forumers voted or said TNP to be their favorite arc but have not seen many say it since then on threads with that question. Glad to see that I'm still not alone in this... Of course, Im fully aware that a lot of people don't like this arc (and for valid reasons) as well as it having some major issues. Although it definitely still has an iconic status in the fandom due to the main cast of characters, some of which get fan content made about them to this day as well as still be relevant in the series (BrambleSquirrel for better or worse but mostly worse). On the topic of why I like it, a lot of childhood nostalgia is involved for sure (I read most of the arc while on a vacation in Portugal). But I also love the concept of a group of cats, made up of ones from different Clans having to work together to save their home (though this series certainly did not invent the trope lol). While I do think the second half was messier than the first for the most part, it still had plenty of fun moments. As for the tribe, there's a whole document on the way they were written being rather problematic, even in TNP. And I personally never really had much interest in them.

DotC has such memorable characters. Gray Wing and clear Sky are such great protagonists and I think the blazing star handles clear Sky perfectly. His redemption arc shouldn’t have been ruined by MV and RH because it was really good. TPB is a close second, but I don’t think Firestar goes through as much of a character change as these two characters. I still think that Firestar went through a lot of character development, but clear Sky turning from a good guy to brutal all the way back to a good person and gray wing going from a happy guy to absolutely unsure about himself and then finally finding peace before his death that was lurking over him since Thunder rising.

We can throw a TNP lover party haha. Oh yeah I'm 100% aware of it's flaws and ngl as frustrating as they are, it kinda makes it fun as well- even the messy second part. And Hawkfrost's death scene is kinda iconic to me tbh! Yeah the Tribe absolutely has issues. but I really liked the idea that there were other groups of cats out there with their own culture and beliefs....... even if they get changed by the Clans in the end. I've heard that some people think the Tribe is lifeless but I think it made sense in Moonrise thatthey would be like that because they are living in constant fear and are unsafe even in their very own home. It would have been much better if the Tribe had stayed in TNP and maybe had their own exclusive SE that had no involvement from the Clans, from the perspective from a Tribe cat

Going strong with my only vote for AVOS. I just really liked it, I don't have any specific reason for it. I liked everything about it, and the super editions that relate to it are pretty good (or atleast the ones I've read). The other arcs didn't stuck out to me that much, maybe POT and ASC

It would have been much better if the Tribe had stayed in TNP and maybe had their own exclusive SE that had no involvement from the Clans, from the perspective from a Tribe cat Heck yeah, party for two (though I could've sworn there were more TNP enjoyers on here at some point)! The second half of it did have some neat plotlines and character moments but also quite a few annoying ones (mainly the LeafCrow and BrambleSquirrelAsh drama in book five, the unnecessary BrightheartCloudtailDaisy bs). And Brambleclaw training with his dad and brother in the DF, granted that last one gave us the iconic Hawkfrost death scene but also did not make that much sense in terms of Brambleclaw's established previous characterization of having already rejected Tigerstar I as an apprentice at the end of arc one and initially distrusting Hawkfrost in the first half of TNP. Tawnypelt would've kinda made more sense in Brambleclaw's canon role there seeing how she rejects her father at the end of TNP in canon which could've worked up to that/fit into her initially training with him. Brambleclaw still could've gotten his own storyline of standing against his dad in a different way, in my opinion. As for the tribe, the problem most people have with them is that they are either boring at best or use stereotypes of Native Americans in the writing at worst. I'm moreso inclined towards the former, and know that's subjective, since some people do enjoy the tribe. As for the latter, there have been multiple docs made by native people regarding how the tribe is written in a not so respectful way and those concerns are certainly valid to consider as well. I like the idea of other groups of cats outside of the Clans as well. But the tribe is just not one of them for me.

TPB and it isnt even close.
TNP and DOTC were boring AVOS and TBC were just badly plotted, the pacing was everywhere, and there were so many misses with characters PO3 and OOTS were good but they were pretty soapy and the plot was a little lackluster at the ends
