Kayla flinched at Ruby's scream, but she stayed where she was. "It's like it's alive..." she whispered, not noticing the root at all. Her focus was entirely on this odd kind of slime, or whatever it was. She shined her light on it and grabbed a different stick then pocked it, watching the slime creep to her fingers. She let go of the stick before it touched her, though, and watched the stick kind of just disappear into the substance. "Cool..."

(Yes!!! Come!)
Ruby frowned. The blood seemed old. Why hadn't it been washed away? She thought for a moment. It hadn't rained since the night before Charlie disappeared. "Kayla..." Her voice was wary. "Kayla... there's blood." She grimaced. Were people right? Had Charlie been killed? The cops never mentioned a bloody coat. What if they'd not shared that detail for the sake of the community?

Josh kind of just ran and Shane ran then stopped when she disappeared, but he could keep going if you'd like :3 He's way taller than Josh, so he could pass him and get to Ghost to keep things moving a bit, if you'd like. I do hope our friend comes back, though)
Kayla had to practically force her eyes away from the good, the strangeness of it all was so unique and alien, and it fascinated her so much. She shined her flashlight on the root and crouched closer to it, getting on her hands even to inspect it. "It's old, but probably around the time your friend went missing," she reported after a moment of examination. "There's not much here, though. It could easily be from a small wound, or even an animal. No proof it's Charlie's yet, but look for more around here."

True, but it does give us a little bit of rp time.)
Shane started running again, wondering if this thing they saw was even real. It had to be, though, right? They had both seen it, after all. He passed Josh on the way to the spot where the glowing girl, if it was a girl, was last seen. Once there, he stopped and looked around, then dug out a small flashlight he kept in his pocket just in case; he kept a lot of things in his pockets just in case. "Alright, let's see if you left any trail at all," he said quietly, shining the light on the ground around the are. The way he grew up, if anything left a trail, be it animal or human, he could find it. All if had to do was touch the ground. He was forced to be a master tracker, basically, but now it was coming in handy.

Ruby examined it thoroughly, poking around the area with a stick. There were more droplets under some leaves. She turned over more leaves. More blood. ''There's a trail," she said grimly. That meant more blood. She poked around more leaves. Foot prints...

"Then let's follow it," Kayla said without hesitation. She took the lead this time, having been tracking since she was, like, two. Her dad was so weird, but things were coming in handy right now. She shined the light on the small trial, using a stick to over turn leaves if needed. "Looks like whatever was here was definitely injured, probably a bullet wound or deep cut, but it shouldn't have been fatal judging by how much blood is here... And they were in a hurry, running from something most likely." Of course, there was still more trail to follow, and more to discover, which meant more questions.

Rubys mind swirled with questions and what if scenarios. She couldn't bear the thought of something happening to Charlie. What would she do? She'd be completely alone in the world...something she hadn't experienced since after kindergarten. She felt tears burning her eyes. Charlie...

Kayla stopped after a bit and frowned, then turned over more leaves with her stick, spinning in circles in the same general area. "It just stops," she reported, so very confused. How did a trail just stop? There were absolutely no signs of someone else coming to maybe drag the victim off or carry them, or that they climbed a tree, or anything. Whatever had made this trial just...vanished. A sudden sense of dread and unease, something Kayla was not used to feeling like this, began to swell in her stomach as her mind spun. "Um, maybe we should head back to the goop," she suggested. "There's nothing here..."

Not even her glow was showing as she looked around and stood up to go off running again. Her pace was slow and her head was getting dizzy as she was almost at her limit. Finding another tree she leaned against it as she became visible and slowly slid down to a sitting position. [sorry its short I'm in the middle of hw

Shane's ear instantly trained in to the sound of the footsteps. No matter how stealthy one tried to be, they could never help but crunch the leaves below; even he wasn't that good. He listened but still saw nothing. Cautiously, he walked closer towards it, knife still in hand. Maybe it was a wandering spirit? The paranormal was very real to him, and it would explain a lot, except for the fact that it did indeed leave a trail. "Show yourself," he demanded. "Come out, and I won't hurt you, but if I find you first, there will be trouble."
No prob ^^)

Ruby frowned. "Turn back? But what about the good and the blood?" She moved her flashlight around the forest floor. No more blood. It disappeared. Did he stop bleeding? She froze when she realized that aside from more goo there was nothing else. No foot prints anymore. As she approached the goo slowly she noticed it seemed to be bubbling. She focused her light on it watching it carefully. Suddenly her flashlight began to flicker.
(Not gonna lie yall I was in my car last night and my Stranger Things score Playlist was playing and street lamps began to flicker. I alost peed myself.)

Holy crud. It's becoming real! Seriously, though, I'll admit I would have been a little uneasy, too, but I also find this very cool)
"Look, I have a really bad feeling about all of this right now, and my gut isn't ever wrong anymore," Kayla said with a worried frown. Even she didn't understand why, but she felt like if they didn't leave now, something horrible was going to happen to them. It was her instincts from growing up paranoid and prepared, and right now, they were telling her to get the heck out of there. "Come on, we can look again some other time. I need to analyze the goo sample I got anyway, if I can sneak it under a microscope." She grabbed Ruby's arm and tugged it gently, a large pit in her stomach.

Ruby hesitated then nodded. "Okay," she agreed. "My flashlight is acting up anyway.'' She booked it a few times but it kept flickering. "Good grief!" She began walking forward until a noise froze her in her tracks. Some weird...growling...clicking sound. "Do you hear that?'' she whispered

Her gut, something, told her to shut keep moving and not look back. "Come on. we need to leave, now." She had very mc in heard the noise, and the fact that it wasn't anything she recognized scared the heck out of her. She even waved the flashlight around as she went but saw nothing, which made the whole situation worse. And I have to go to bed now...)

She sat there against the tree breathing heavily as the voice grew closer and closer. The tone was demanding and she was afraid the speaker would do something to her. She could tell they were male but she couldn't tell much more than that. Perhaps she should run, but then they might do something terrible to her. Her body was too worn out to do anything though she perhaps she should just sit there and maybe he won't find her.

She swallowed and kept walking, making her footsteps as quiet as she could on the leafy forest.floor. suddenly our of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of movement. She gasped and dropped her flashlight, now flickering rapidly. As her eyes adjusted to the flickering light she saw a tall shiny figure, dark in color and odd in stature. Trembling she tapped Kayla shoulder. (Aww bummer.)

I think we should just try to move things along a little bit, I mean, Shane could find her and question here. Strange, not sure what else to call them, hasn't been on in a while)
Shane glanced around but saw nothing move and nothing move. He thought a moment. Even if it was glowing, it may still, somehow, have been an actual girl. He knew that didn't really make any sense, but he had no idea what else to go on besides it being some creature that wanted to kill him; if it was, it probably would have killed him by now, though. His voice softened a bit. "Please come out. I don't want to hurt you, but if you scare me because I found you first, then I don't know I'll do something on reflex. Just come out slowly, and you'll be okay." His eyes scanned the trees again, and he took a few more careful steps forward.
Kayla stopped and looked over from the tapping. "What?" But her question was answered instantly. Her eyes grew huge and mouth hung open. Never in her life had she ever seen anything like this. Even her father had never once mentioned a creature looking like this! That very fact frightened her to the bone, and she went even paler than her already white skin was. Fight or flight kicked in then. Since the thing was way bigger and totally unknown, the best option was to run, as fighting it could have horrible consequences. She grabbed Ruby's hand and took off.

Ruby felt it touch her hand as Kayla yanked her away. She screamed. What if this is what happened to Charlie? She felt sick. The thing screamed after her, touching the back of her neck. She ducked and grabbed onto a tree limb as she ran, bending it and letting it go as she ran so it would hit the creature. It let out an unearthly yell.

Kayla said nothing nor screamed as she fumbled in the darkness, over roots and branches. Nothing was going to slow her down, though. With a tight grip, she held onto Ruby's hand, her backpack flopping against her back with each hurried step. That thing...what the heck was it?! Her heart pounded in her chest, slamming into her ribs and sending blood pounding in her ears until it, their footsteps, and that gosh-awful scream was all that she heard.

Ruby ran as fast as she could. Suddenly she didn't hear it anymore. But she didn't stop running. She didn't even know where they were going. She didn't care. Her thoughts swirled with hurricane force. Charlie? Did he get hurt by this...thing? What IS that thing?! What is even going on?!

Kayla felt her heart jump when she saw street lamps up ahead, nonflickering street lamps. She didn't stop running until both girls were directly under the yellow light. Finally, letting go of Ruby's hand, Kayla bent over and out her hands on her knees, panting. She was used to running and all that from training and was very fit, but that kind of fear-filled sprint would make even an Olympic runner gasp for breath. "What the...heck...was that?" the red-head asked in gasps.

Ruby was doubled over wheezing. "I...don't...know..." She wiped sweat from her face and tried to push away the image of it. "What if...it got...them?'' She reached into her bag and shook up an inhaler before puffing on it.

Kayla shook her head, not even wanting to believe that thing was real, but it had to be if they both saw it. At the sound of the inhaler, she looked up. "You have asthma?" she asked, trying to force her breathing back to normal. That run could have been seriously bad for Ruby then, and that made Kayla feel a little bad even though she did nothing wrong. it was either run or get possibly eaten by...a monster. She didn't even want to think about her father getting attacked by that thing either, so she disregarded that question.

Ruby nodded. "It's okay," she said hoarsely. (EYYO I get hoarse after my asthma attacks too). She tried to catch her breath. "I used to never carry my inhaler because I never thought I'd have to run enough to get an attack. Charlie started to make me keep one on me at all times...'' She shrugged.
