What was your first Warrior cats book you read and what makes you keep reading it if you do?

Because personally I first read Graystripe's Adventure which I was given by my older sister back when she read it. Maybe 3 or 4 years after that, I was in advisory at school and needed a book to read. A book with a cat on the cover caught my eye in the teacher's bookshelf and I picked it up and looked at the cover and spine. It was labeled as the first book in a series called "Warriors : The New Prophecy". The reason I decided to read it? It was because, and I kid you not, I remember all of my friends reading a book called Upside-Down Magic in elementary school that had a cat on the cover. I was considering reading that in middle school. Anyway I sadly ended up reading all of TNP and POT before even starting Into the Wild. Hope to see people as talkative as me tell some fun stories.

I had to check out a book during maybe the first week of 5th grade, and I found Seekers. And on the back of the book it would always advertise Warriors but my school didn’t have any warriors copies so I asked my mom to take me to the library and I was hooked after that.

I see most people say they began with TNP and some are like I read PoT first and are like 'I was so lost!', I think I win the award from being farthest from Into the Wild. I found Shattered Sky in a library a long time ago, and just kept finding more Warriors books. And the first book I owned didn't get closer to the OG arc, it was Long Shadows. Why did little me always find the books with the most conflict???
Now that I think about it, these books might have something to do with my strange curiosity with death...hmmm.

I’ve always loved cats. One day, I saw my friend Sophia reading Forest of Secrets, and I thought the cover looked cool. So I asked her what book it was, and skipping the discussion, I went down to the library to get Into the Wild. Thing is, I read the whole thing in a day, Fire And Ice the next, and so on. I finished the first arc in under a week and surpassed my friend in two days. I’ve been reading ever since and am looking forward to my ASC books coming in the mail!

@swaggycassie thankfully a friend told me which book was the first one so no problems there, but another friend of mine wasn't as lucky and started on freaking LOST STARS.

I got a German copy of Into the Wild as a gift from my dad back in 2007 who in turn got it from a coworker of his that thought I might enjoy a series about religious battle cats (she was right). Weirdly enough, the German copies of ItW only started coming out officially in Germany in 2008 so that coworker either had great connections or I just remember the date wrong (which I doubt since I clear remember reading that book with my cat beside me, who died in 2007).
In terms of my first English book(s), it was the entire OotS arc (due to the German translation of it taking too long/still at PoT and teen me was getting impatient by that time because I desperately wanted to know what happened since having read some interesting spoilers in a comment section on Youtube underneath an old Warrior Cats video). I remember that all of the six books arrived together and that my mom (who ordered it) said that the last one (which was The Last Hope) was only available as a hardcover edition, meaning that it was most likely in 2012/13 (since paperback editions for new books typically only get released later and I lost my interest in the series/stopped reading in 2014/15).
Graystripe's Adventure was the first book that got me into reading manga though (both in but moreso outside the series) and will thus always have a special place in my heart.
Got back into the series (and finally joined the fandom) in 2020 (while being trapped and bored inside my home like so many others due to the pandemic). I'm still glad to be back and know I'll never leave again.

My friend in fourth grade always was reading these cat books, and I thought I might as well give it a whirl. That didn’t really work out, since I borrowed Dark River from the school library and was super confused so I stopped reading. Moving on to fifth grade, I actually attempted to read the series in the correct order. Boom. I’ve been trapped in the Erins’ grasp ever since.
I haven’t seen that friend for a while now - I hope she’s doing all right.

Come to think of it I had a completely different idea of Graystripes personality because he is presented with a totally different one than in the main series books in his "manga" graphic novel

I picked up Dark River in a bookstore as a kid. My parents bought it for me and I've been addicted ever since. Funnily enough I don't know how I read The prophecies begin because I only ever owned the last book... and my school library had Warriors in the high school section which I at 9 years old was not allowed in. TNP was the first arc I owned and was my favourite because Brambleclaw is my fav <3 I did have a 'recovering warrior cats kid' phase from about 16-20 but now I've fully embraced my 'unapologetic adult lover of religious battle cats' phase. Never been happier lol

I haven't read his manga. I think he changes quite a bit over the arcs

I liked cats alot so seeing a book with a cat on it immediately had me interested. My classroom had The sight, dark river and outcast which I ended up reading backwards so that was fun. I don't remember ever being confused by anything, just being happy that I found something to read with cats.

I actually never got into Warrior Cats at a young age despite seeing it everywhere in the fantasy section of the school library; I was more of a dog person, and I wasn't exactly a connoisseur when it came to fantasy genres. I even saw a bit of SSS Warrior Cats and thought to myself "is this indicative of the teenager phase?" Years later, someone posted a video of "Firestar Doesn't Like Waffles" in a Discord server I was in, but it was playing "God, Syria and Bashar" in the background. This piqued my interest in Warrior Cats, and I realized just how much I missed out on in the past. I now find enjoyment in this goofy franchise.

A friend of mine wrote a trilogy inspired by the first series, before even hitting high school. I read her books, then I picked up Warriors.
No, really. She's pretty cool.

My first book was Midnight, as my parents got me the New Prophecy book set for Christmas, not knowing that it was the second arc lol. That's why I feel a soft spot for Bramblestar- he made me fall in love with the books from his POV.

Yeah same lol, no matter how much of a jerk he is later he will always be my first Warriors main character perspective also (Not including me reading the Graystripe graphic novel a few years before knowing what Warriors even was)

I remember this as clear as day- it was second grade, and I was walking with one of my friends. I noticed that there was a book poking out of his backpack with a cat on it- The Fourth Apprentice, with Dovewing's green eyes staring at me. Curious, I asked what the book was. He said, Oh this? It's called Warriors. The next day, I went to the library and checked out Thunder Rising, Sign of the Moon, and The First Battle.
The rest is, as they say, history.

A friend gave me "Into the Wild" the first book. I read the prologue and it was really boring. (The prologue's don't say any character names so I wasn't that interested.) Later I decided I should try reading it again and I skipped past the prologue. After that I was hooked. But the Into the Wild prologue does state multiple character names though? It's first from Tigerclaw's PoV during the night battle at sunningrocks with ThunderClan vs. RiverClan and then from Bluestar's perspective back in ThunderClan's camp where Spottedleaf is also mentioned by name and then receives the fire prophecy. Oakheart is the first name to be uttered in it (by Tigerclaw) and Mousefur as well as Redtail get mentioned too.

I used to read Wings of Fire a lot, and looked at a lot of YouTube videos. One of my favorite WoF creators also did Warriors videos as well, and I was always a cat person. So I went on a Warriors pdf site and skimmed SEs and main series books. Then I saw Into the Wild at a bookstore and decided to actually read it. I vividly remember hiding in this one part of the kitchen store while my mom shopped. And now I’ve read to Darkest Night and I love this series.
