Wila »
Wila hadn’t even imagined what the forest would look like without snow until Flame had brought it up. Her whiskers quivered as she allowed her mind to wander, trying to picture just how green and lively the woods would look once the snow had melted and warmth fluttered back into the breeze. She envisioned the trees to be surrounded by a myriad of colorful flowers, all bloomed and reaching out for the sun to set gentle rays of warmth upon them. Bees would buzz to drink nectar from the flowers while the air filled with the songs of birds. Her twolegs’ yard always looked so lively once spring came around. She loved seeing the grass go from dead and stubbly to a succulent green that was plush with new life. Flowers would spring forth from the ground after a long season of hibernation. ”I bet it’s beautiful out here when it’s springtime,” the Burmese molly breathed, awe still lacing her words as she spoke. Already the forest was beautiful with its snow covered branches and frostbitten leaves, but Wila could only imagine what beauty awaited the woodland once life was brought back.
While the molly kept a somewhat slow pace to take in all the scenery that was around her, she made sure to stay side-by-side with Flame, her brown pelt brushing against his ginger one from time to time. Already she felt comfortable enough to be so close to the tom, almost completely unaware that she was even touching him every so often. It was as if subconsciously she wanted to be closer to him.
While she felt as at ease as she did with him, she also realized that she didn’t know much about him still. She listened intently every time he spoke up, soaking in all the information that he had to give about the forest. ”You already know so much about the woods,” she mewed, surprised of his knowledge when she had been under the impression that all he knew about the woods had come from his friend Shadow. ”Is this from what Shadow has told you, or have you actually been into the woods without me?” There was nothing accusatory in her words, just a playful tease that jilted her words and gave them a bounce as she spoke.
For all the fun she was having, she did realize that Flame was giving her the chance to make a decision. Her tail twitched, eyes narrowing deep in thought. She was curious about the river Flame had mentioned, but there was always the risk of falling in. Getting wet in this weather could prove disastrous. Perhaps the river was somewhere they could visit another time. ”Let’s go to the pines,” Wila decided. ”I’d like to have the highest chance possible of catching something. Not that it would be hard for me to catch prey.” Again there was a tone of teasing that danced in her words, and as she looked over at Flame, it was clear in the quiver of her whiskers and the light in her eyes that she was merely playing with him. Wila was confident in the fact that she’d give prey hunting her all, but she wasn’t so cocky that she was certain she would end the day with her first kill. She could give it her all, and prey or not, doing her best was all that mattered.
Alice »
As soon as Binx asked her question, Alice paused in her grooming and looked up at the other molly with a steady gaze. She took a note of the question that had been posed - this cat had had troubles with twolegs before. Humans had done something to her. Cats who didn’t interact with humans wouldn’t have worded their question the way Binx had, or they wouldn’t have asked the question about twolegs causing damage in general. Alice was not going to ask any questions about this, but she did want to know what had happened to Binx in her past. The tortoiseshell knew she wouldn’t get any answers - they had only just met and would more than likely never run into one another again after this - but the curiosity was still there.
”If one of us gets really sick or hurt, we’ll go up to the twolegs’ den if they don’t see us struggling before then. Sometimes even the dogs will get the twolegs for us if we need them,” the tortoiseshell explained simply, all of this normal to her whereas she was sure this all sounded insane to Binx. Alice doubted Binx had a positive opinion on canines, but the dogs at the barn were rather well behaved and respected the cats. A few times Confetti had to be reminded not to press the cats. A few scratches to the Heeler’s nose had been enough to get her to pull away. Beyond that Alice had never had a problem with the canines. They were just a part of her day to day life, welcomed company even on good days. ”A lot of times they’ll give us something that they keep in their own den, but every now and then if one of us is really hurt or sick, they’ll bring us to another twoleg that has even more resources. That’s how they heal us.” Again her words were level and simple.
Alice enjoyed her life on the barn. She had a nice group of cats she lived with, and for the most part she was allowed to do whatever she pleased. She could leave when she wanted and return when she wanted, if she was hungry she could hunt and not have to worry about eating too much. Prey was always plentiful at the barn, though it was mostly mice. That could get boring from time to time - it was the whole reason why Alice had come out to the mountains today. The barn cat had been fortunate that a hawk had been in the area and that she had been lucky enough to catch the raptor.
Before long it would be time to head back to the barn if she wanted to make it back before the sun set. The clouds outside were also growing thicker with more snowfall on the way, and the last thing Alice wanted was to be stuck in the mountain crags for the night. She could handle it, but she didn’t want to.
The tortoiseshell pushed herself up on her paws with a fluid stretch. ”You were not a bother. I don’t shy away from unannounced company.” If anything, Alice had found it quite interesting that fate had placed this black cat in front of her, especially when she had expected to see nobody else up in the mountains during a snowy day. Before the two could part ways Alice spoke to Binx once more, this time a flash of amusement entering her gaze. ”Ya know, if you ever wanted, the barn isn’t far from here, and no cat there would say no if you stopped by.” It wasn’t a full out invitation, but it was more than nothing, and if Binx ever did decide to visit, then perhaps eventually Alice could learn more about this black cat and her history.

Flame Location: Forest With: Wila ( Feathertalon) “What Shadow’s told me, and like I said, I like to walk the fence line. I have since I first came to my house.”, he said. “So it’s been a few seaosn cycles. I’ve walked all along the fence line, from the end past the pines to the tip near the mountains.”, he said. “Some places more than others, but everywhere at least once.” Flame had always been curious about the forest and moor beyond. Like he’d told Wila, something had always seemed to pull him towards the wild, but fear of loneliness had kept him home. He glanced at Wila, his tail flicking. He could handle living in the forest if he had her by his side, but he wasn’t sure he could ever ask her to leave her housefolk. She seemed hesitant to leave, but maybe if it came down to it, she would come with him. He didn’t want to fool himself though. This was only the second time they’d met. Why would she leave her comfortable home to live in the forest with him? His mind was pulled from its wandering by her request to go to the pines. Flame nodded at her mention of wanting the best luck for hunting. “Sounds good. We can work as a team, we’re bound to catch something.”, he said. He turned, leading the way parallel to the fence, towards the pines. He kept close to Wila, liking the occasional brush of her fur against his. Her fur was very soft, and it was a nice to know she felt comfortable enough around him to be that close. Spark Location: Farm With: Bo ( Myst) While Spark’s belly fur would be a bit damp after their walk, he didn’t mind. He wasn’t some pampered house pet who fainted at the first minor inconvenience. Spark turned when Bo called his name, standing partially facing the larger dog, grinning slightly when he suggested a race, his tail wagging. “Sure, you’re on.”, he said. He didn’t give Bo any warning, turning and taking off, knowing Bo would expect as much. While he rarely had to go all out with their small herd of sheep, he’d been trained with a herd five times the size of theirs, and as such, had learned how to get ahead of them without completely tiring himself. The snow made it easier too, the powder conforming to his paws, dry enough that it wasn’t slippery.

(Gonna post a starter for River)
Padding through the undergrowth, River made his way to his usual fishing spot, hoping that it hasn’t frozen over yet. True to his name, River loved the water, relied on it. He had been hunting and fishing around the same river for moons now. As he approached his spot, River let out a breath of relief. He could hear it before he could see it. The water was still flowing. His paws may freeze, but he’ll live. He sniffed the air, no one around right now.
The silver and gray tabby tom hurried towards the river, keeping himself alert for anything that may surprise him.

Lada.
With: River (Junospower)
Lada shook off the remaining snow on her pelt after leaving her make shift den. Next objective, prey.
After her night in the den, she was already hungry when she went to sleep, now she was ravenous. Thankfully her rest had helped stave it off for now, but Lada knew it would start to get to her soon. She's hoping, even if her paws freeze, that there might be some prey down near the stream. They need water just as much as she does.. and Lada's also thirsty.
Without much thought, she took a quick look around and made her way towards where the stream is.
Keeping her paw steps quiet and light, she ducked under the bushes, hoping to catch a scent or sound of something as she approached the stream.
The sound of the light stream, thankfully not frozen over, and look of its curious depths reminds her of a certain cat. Spackle- she hadn't seen him in a while. He's always so busy trying to keep himself acquainted with the town cats or keeping himself fed. So Lada hasn't seen him in moons- for his long fur, he'd always been a fan of water.
Hopefully the old(Not really) tom is keeping his flesh and bones alive, she'd rather her.. father? If you could call him that, kept himself alive.
Shaking her head of the thoughts, Lada pads just a bit more forward in the bushes, ignoring the twigs poking her pelt a tad uncomfortably.
Lada freezes in her steps when she catches the sound of hurried pawsteps. She lowers herself down more, ears tilting as she tries to keep quiet, incase its prey. She can only count so much on shear luck this winter, so she scoots a bit more forward, just a bit, hoping to catch a scent, or sight of whatever it might be.
Fluffing up, and flattening her fur, she waits patiently. Maybe it'll be a rabbit- or maybe a fox. Her yellow eyes are wide, but hidden in the undergrowth of the forest, tail low to the ground.
Lada might resort to dipping her paws in the stream, if it comes down to it.

Singularly focused on getting to the river, the silver and gray tabby tom had no idea that he may be being watched. On light paws he crept up to the water’s edge, peering into it, searching for any signs of movement. Though not as badly as land prey, the fish do sometimes tend to be scarce during leaf-bare from time to time. It’s rare, but it’s always a gamble. In the corner of his eye he saw movement in the water swimming towards him and River raised his paw, ready to strike once the fish was close enough.

Wila »
Wila couldn’t hide the awe that sparkled in her eyes as Flame told her of his fence walking journeys. Why she had never thought of doing that she had no idea, but now it was something she was going to think about for the rest of her days. Perhaps she’d start doing that, exploring more of the area just along the fence line. The molly wondered if she could get her other friends to join her little fence expeditions at times. Fran probably would, she was always willing to do out there stuff to make the others happy. Quinn probably wouldn’t say no, either, and surely Frazzle would be up for something like that if Wila asked. And of course, she’d have Flame. Wila looked at the ginger tom with warmth, smiling as she gazed upon his ginger pelt. This tom was going to change her entire worldview, she just knew it, and honestly, she was excited for that.
As the topic switched back to hunting, the brown feline puffed her chest out proudly and nodded. ”For sure! Those mice or whatever else lives in the pines won’t know what hit ‘em,” she mused, speeding her pace up in excitement. The snow underpaw did not deter her one bit as she continued on, all the more eager to get to their destination

Lada!
With: River (Junospower)
Lada's eyes widened as what she had hoped to be prey, came into view.
It was a cat.
A gray cat. A gray and silver cat, obviously not having taken notice of her presence, and from the looks of it they were.. fishing! Lada resisted letting out an excited sound as she observed the feline. Maybe..- well, probably not. They could hypothetically be a sharing cat- but she'd understand why they'd rather not. Like everycat knows, prey is scarce, so why share with a cat they have no care for?
Just because she understands it, doesn't mean she's ever been a fan of the system. While.. somewhat reasonable, lacked morals. One's Lada generally tries her best to keep in her sight as she goes about her rickety life.
Giving a curious tilt of her head as she watched the cat, Lada figured, maybe if not sharing, she can atleast learn from the cat. They've obviously done this more than her, Lada's better at catching birds than fish, even if she does favor the taste of the scaly creatures.
They look like they know what they're doing, so as she's about to settle on her stomach for the long hall to watch-
She missteps, a twig cracking, and snapping under her paw. She looks down to it with wide eyes, flinching away from it and- causing even more of a racket as she shakes the bush she'd taken residence under.
Well.
Lada's head snaps up, to look at where the cat had been, with zero hope of her not having been heard.

Binx -- The Mountains | With Alice - Feathertalon It hadn’t yet dawned on her how far out of her element she was. She was slipping, asking questions that gave away more than what she would typically desire. While her ultimate goal was not to be a mysterious entity in the pine woods, she wanted to protect herself the only way she knew how, and that was with privacy. She just couldn’t help it – between her curiosity and embarrassment of an unknown source, the black molly just couldn’t keep her emotions under wraps. No matter, she probably wouldn’t see her again anyway. After all, she had no reason to visit the barn again any time soon, and she doubted the other would make her way around the abandoned twoleg nest.
She listened as Alice went on about how the healing actually worked. Simply approaching the building with the expectation that the twoleg would simple handle whatever their ailment was unheard to her. To be further told the dogs, the same dogs that had surely removed a year of her life, would alert the humans on their behalf was somehow more wild. This, of course, relied on the concept that the dogs actually cared for the cats in the barn. It was something she couldn’t entirely process – while her single interaction with this wasn’t necessarily pleasant, she held less of a strong opinion on them. After all, a dog had never done anything directly to her – everything else she’d heard about them was in passing from other cats.
Then she talked about how the twolegs had resources for healing on hand, and there were other ones that had more than that. Binx didn’t know too much about healing to begin with, so this idea left her in a bit of awe. It had never occurred to her that twolegs with animal would know how to heal them. “Wow – I never would’ve thought it worked that way,” she murmured. It certainly sounded like a much easier life than the one she led currently.
When the molly assured her she hadn’t been a nuisance, Binx only offered a slight nod of confirmation. She couldn’t help but to feel like one still, but it would just have to pass. With that, it felt it was time for them to part ways if she wanted to stand a chance in this weather. Finally orange eyes risked a glance back up to the other in time to catch a glimpse of the amusement in her eyes. That was… she hadn’t expected that. What was she supposed to make of that alongside the open offer to the visit? “Thanks for the offer.”
It was an offer, right? It couldn’t possibly be anything else. Turning her gaze to the land she could see from their perch, she tossed the idea around in her head. She had a long trip home and judging by how dark the sky was, the storm would be especially unforgiving today. “You, uh… you may see me sooner than you think,” she mewed a bit sheepishly. If the storm got too bad, she’d have to assess her distance between her home and the barn and make a choice. If it were to be the barn, she only hoped the dogs would leave her be.
Bo -- The Farm | With Spark - runningsky123 Spark took off nearly as soon as the challenge had been issued, as he always did. He couldn’t help the gleeful barks that left his maw as he took off after him. The shepherd was built for his power and temperament – while speed was useful, it was just slightly less important than in the other canine’s line of work. Even still, Bo kept a good pace himself, but the collie was always just out of his reach. That didn’t stop him from enjoying the feeling of the wind in his fur and the snow crunching under his weight with each stride. Before long they were reaching the far end of the pasture, and he was essentially prancing to a stop before shaking out his fur. “You ever get tired of beating me out here?” he mused.
(sorry this is short, I wasn’t super sure where to take them)

Flame Location: Forest With: Wila ( Feathertalon) Flame had yet to meet Chai, but part of him would have to refrain from immediately thanking the tom for being set in his ways. If he wasn’t, Flame may have never met Wila. It had only been a few days, and two meetings, and he already knew Wila would be a great friend. Flame led the way towards the pines, his tail held high as he walked beside Wila. “Who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky and get a squirrel. Though, they may taste good, but there’s a lot of fur to them.”, he said with an amused purr. “Shadow’s always complaining about fur in his teeth when he catches squirrels.” He really hoped Shadow was okay, because talking to Wila had made him realize the old tom was a friend. Flame had always seen him as more of an acquaintance that just happened to live nearby, but the more he talked to Wila, the more he mentioned Shadow, and the more he realized how much he enjoyed the old tom’s company. He knew Wila would like him too. Shadow had a way of teasing that was warm and kind, always ending up closer to a compliment than causing any hurt feelings. He glanced up when they finally made it to the sparse line between the pines and the rest of the forest, the canopy stretching up farther and darkening the forest a bit more, as they stepped out onto snow-covered pine needles, Flame able to feel the difference. He purred softly, looking down at the ground. “If the snow wasn’t so cold, I could sleep here. It feels so comfortable.”, he said, the needles providing cushioning, the snow doing the same to an extent. Spark Location: Farm With: Bo ( Myst) Spark let out a few barks himself, racing ahead of Bo. The bigger dog was fast, no doubt, but he was built for going head-to-head with predators to protect his sheep, not for outpacing them like Spark was. But they both knew what the outcome would be of their race. It would be the same as it always was. That wasn’t the point. It was fun, racing along the field together, and it was friendly competition, even if the outcome was always the same. Bo was a good sport, and always had been. That was one of the reasons their little pack worked so well together. He never tried to be the star of the show or show up anyone, and Spark appreciated it. He’d grown up with very pushy littermates, and he was glad he wasn’t stuck with a pushy guard dog for a packmate. He finally came to a stop at the end of the field, panting slightly from the exertion, but grinned nonetheless. “Depends on if you’ll ever tire of losing.”, he teased warmly, his tail wagging. They usually had some form of this exchange after their runs, like a part of the ritual. (No worries! My brain was dead and then I took an (ill-advised) nap and it seems to have rebooted, so that’s a mood 😅 we’re currently trying to reformat how we work in my department at work (which is literally two of us on the floor and our manager who does office stuff), so it’s been a bit hectic coming up with ideas and talking them over. My brain was fried by the end of the work day.)

River watched as the fish frustratingly swam further away from him. He lowered his paw with an annoyed huff. Why did they always do that? Fish seemed to have a strange sixth-sense when he’s out hunting. Suddenly the fish, a trout from the look of it, darts back in his direction. River prepares himself again as the trout inched closer and closer within striking range, his long feathery tail twitching with anticipation.
The silver tom finally saw his moment and slammed his paw hard into the water, pulling out the trout from the river. He purred with pride and was was just about to eat when he heard it. A twig snapped. River’s head shot up and he frantically searched for the source of the sound. His pale blue eyes huge.
“Hello? Who’s there?”

Lada!
With: River, (Junospower)
Lada hesitated when she heard the tom's voice, ears flattening further. Perhaps it'd be better to.. introduce herself? She hasn't talked to any cat in- in what feels like moons. With a mind desperate for a bit of interaction, she carefully steps forward, making sure she's heard so they know she's coming.
Lada's head peaks out of the bushes, her yellow eyes meeting pale blue.
She can't resist the tinge of anxiety as she steps out further, ears still pinned as her light blue fur comes out into the light. Dutifully ignoring the want to hide away, though.. she's still crouched as she comes out further.
Lada, again hesitates before speaking with eyes as wide as the tom's.
"Hello.. I'm- eh- just hunting in the area. I'm sorry if I- I didn't mean to startle you." She pauses for a moment, debating whether or not to continue.
"I just- spotted you.. and figured it best to leave it be but.. well." She stops, getting up from her crouch, her ears swiveling as she gazed at the tom.

CottonLocation: Moor (Cotton’s Den) With: Creamsicle ( Feathertalon ) At the corner of her den Cotton had begun to shake off and lick the snow from her side and back. Her side that had been facing the brunt of the wind had become somewhat numb in their travels. It tingled and stung as warmth came back into it. It was uncomfortable, but Cotton knew it was all part of the process. Her ears twitched when Creamsicle spoke. "Yes. It is," she replied, glancing at the kit as she meowed. She turned away from the corner. "How are you feeling tiny one?" she inquired, coming toward her and nosing the white and cream kitten. She knocked away any snow and licked the spots that felt especially cold to her nose. Cotton was much more at ease now that she was in her den. Now that her concerns for their survival and the den had been addressed, she felt better able to pay more attention to Creamsicle. (Sorry if it's short. ^^')

River started bit at the approaching she-cat and stood slightly protectively above his catch. He had a few run-in with aggressive rouges stealing his hard earned prey before, it’s only natural he was a little defensive. Then he got a good look of her as she grew nearer. She was smaller than him and her body language and anxious tone suggested she was no threat. He felt himself relax, fur he didn’t know was raised settled back down on his back. “Oh, um… It’s alright,” he mewed to her, then nodded towards his trout, “I don’t mind sharing.”

Lada felt immense relief hit her at the tom's words, ears perking up as she listened to his reassurance. Glancing with a tinge of ravenousness to the trout he had.
With wide, and thankful yellow eyes, she approached a bit more eagerly this time, tail sweeping as she got closer to the gray and silver tom. Her callused paw pads easily ignoring anything poking her, though.. her paws might just be numb from the cold. Where she had slept hadn't been as warm as she'd liked, and the dirt, mud, and mixture of snow left her as cold as last night. As thick as Lada's pelt may be, she's not quite as resistant as the long furred tom in front of her. Which Lada is more brutally reminded of when a biting breeze blows lightly by, ruffling her fur.
"Are you- really?" She mewed a tad shakily with the tilt of her head before giving an agreeing chatter. "If you're sure.. I would appreciate it." Lada says, quickly, before he changed his mind. Though.. he doesn't seem like the kind of cat to do it- she's not willing to take the chance. With aching, cold sore joints, frozen paws, and an empty stomach, she glances towards the trout, waiting for the tom's go ahead.
Maybe she can show him somewhere to rest away from the cold, in return for the prey. She knows a few spots, definitely better than that tree. Its usually better when she adds feathers or moss to it.. but Lada doubts there's much of that to spare currently. Feathers- heh, imagine. Unless the tom already has somewhere good to stay- well, she'll make the offer nonetheless.
And maybe ask to tag along, if he does have somewhere safe.

Wila »
”Squirrels do have a lot of fur in them. Especially their tails. I can see how their pelt gets stuck in his teeth.” She had never had squirrel before, and while she knew the furry creatures were a part of a wild cat’s diet, she didn’t think she would care much for them. As Flame had already said, there was too much fur on them. She supposed the taste made up for the inconvenience, and if they caught one she would try it without a doubt, but she was wary of the idea of eating a squirrel. Wila was never one to back away from something new, so she’d try it, but she had low expectations. Her owners already fed her a raw diet so she wasn’t scared of the thought of raw meat, but she never had to deal with the fur that came with catching her own prey. Mice didn’t seem to have that much fur on their bodies to get through, but squirrels were a totally different story.
As the two cats walked through the snow covered woods, birdsong echoed throughout the air. Every now and then Wila would catch glimpses of songbirds fluttering from branch to branch, and once she spotted a brown feathered bird perched among a patch of dark green leaves that stood out among the bareness of the woods. Everything here was so magical, so wonderful. She could see why cats would want to live outside rather than inside, but despite her awe at the scenery, Wila could still feel the cold that was brought by the wind. She was lucky to have Flame by her side, their pelts touching and creating a center of warmth for one another, but a lot of cats that lived out here probably didn’t have that. From what Wila understood most forest cats lived alone. They may take a mate and stay with a mate for some time, but eventually they would drift apart and go back to living a solitary lifestyle. If a queen had kits she would raise her kits until they were old enough to be sent out on their own. It sounded like a lonely life. Wila thought back to Quinn for a moment. No wonder the brown tabby had given up her life to live with twolegs. Frazzle came to mind next. He still lived on his own, but he had Wila, Fran, and Quinn as friends. He never had to worry about being lonely, but Frazzle was an exception. Most wild cats would never dare to get as close to humans as Frazzle did.
After some walking the landscape began to change. Snow still covered the ground and everything around the two cats, but deciduous trees gave way to coniferous trees. Sharp scents of pine and cedar drifted alongside the breeze. Pine needles peeked out from blankets of snow, and in some places the ground was completely free from snow, the canopy of trees too thick for the precipitation to have fallen through. ”It is really comfortable,” Wila agreed, having not noticed just how cushioned her paws were due to the pine needles. ”It’s almost like my bed back home.” The Burmese stepped away from Flame for a moment, scanning the pine forest with her round yellow eyes. ”Should we start the hunt here?” She asked, turning to look over at Flame, excitement and wonder decorating her features as she stood there in the snow blanketed pine forest.
Alice »
Alice knew she couldn’t be considered completely feral, but she also couldn’t be considered as a house cat, either. She was somewhere in between, tolerant of humans and sometimes requiring their help. If they came into the barn where her and her barnmates lived she might let them pet her a few times before walking off. Beyond that she did everything for herself - she hunted, granted the twolegs did throw out pellets of food for them almost every day but Alice preferred the taste of mouse over what the twolegs gave them, she came and went as she pleased, she patrolled her territory to look out for any other cats that could be coming through. She was both wild and tame, a fair mix of the two. Not many other cats understood that, though. A lot of cats believed it was one way or the other with nothing in-between. Alice scoffed at cats with such closed mindsets. This was the first time she had run into a cat who lived outside the barn’s borders that didn’t seem disgusted by her way of life. If anything, Binx seemed interested despite her reaction over the humans. It had been clear to Alice that Binx did not have the best opinion of humans, but she at least wasn’t being rude about it. That helped her earn points with the tortoiseshell.
”Humans can be rather beneficial. They help me and my cats out when we need it, but otherwise they leave us alone. It’s the perfect relationship to have if you ask me.” Permanently living with humans sounded exhausting. Being confined in a den all day every day had Alice’s fur crawling. How any cat could live comfortably like that Alice had no idea. But thanks to the twolegs at the farm, she and her barnmates were cared for when they needed to be and they were always well fed. It was never a struggle to survive like it was for cats who lived permanently outside.
It wasn’t often that new cats came to the barn. Most of the cats that lived there now had been born there. From time to time a cat would stay the night or be offered a meal as they were passing through, but it wasn’t as common of an occurrence as one might think. Most cats veered away from the barn because of the farm dogs. Why they always assumed dogs trained to herd and protect livestock would viciously attack cats on the spot would always be a mystery to Alice. But going back on track, Alice’s invitation was not a common one. But Binx seemed like the type of cat that would take Alice up on her offer. Binx had listened to what Alice had to say and had only seemed intrigued rather than disgusted by the idea of barn life.
Silently Alice padded toward the edge of the crag. Her eyes scanned the sky ahead. Dark gray, thick clouds covered the sky, a silent warning that more snow was on the way. If she wanted to get back home before the storm got too bad then she needed to leave now.
Before leaping down to head back into the moors, Alice waved a goodbye with her tail toward Binx. ”You can tag along if you wish. Just bring the rest of the hawk with you if you do.” Without waiting for an answer the tortoiseshell jumped down, starting her descent back to flat ground.

Creamsicle »
Safe from the wind and no longer exposed to the cloudy sky where a hawk could swoop down and get her, Creamsicle felt a lot better. Muscles that had been tense relaxed. A source of warmth began to creep underneath her pelt, warming her up after having been exposed to harsh winds and falling snow moments before. The kit shook out her pelt, droplets of melted snow falling from her pelt. ”Much better,” she mewed in response to Cotton’s question. Creamsicle looked up at the older cat, the tiniest of purrs rumbling deep from within her chest. She stretched up on her toes, leaning into Cotton’s touch as the old molly lapped at Creamsicle’s pelt.
Creamsicle allowed herself to be groomed a while longer, warmth coming back to her body. The fears from earlier melted away along with the snow in her pelt, and after a few moments, she found herself leaping forward, playfully grabbing at Cotton’s muzzle. ”The moor is kinda scary. How big is it? Why do you like living here?” Now that she was no longer cold, scared, and hungry, Creamsicle was acting more like an average kit - inquisitive and playful. Questions buzzed in her head, demanding answers. Poor Cotton was soon to have her paws full thanks to the white and cream kitten.

Leo Farm // with Lillith 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑢
Leo prepared himself to counteract the calico molly's attack. Getting his muscles ready to spring into the air. Instead he was hit with a different impact. Losing his footing at the sudden force in his back. Falling into the snow giving a muffled yowl. His pelt burned with irritation as he got up to his paws, shaking out his ginger fur. What was that about. The tom thought, twisting himself around to smooth down his now damp fur. Mild pain radiating throughout his haunches from Lillith's uncoordinated attack- Where was she anyway?
The tabby jumped to his paws, amber eyes ricocheting frantically for the dappled molly. Finding her not too far away laying down. Hurriedly, Leo made his way towards her. "Lillith!" He called, standing over the she-cat and looking over her worriedly. All his previous frustrations melting away like the snow stuck to his fur. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Worry tinged his meow. Leo was all about himself, that was no doubt. But he cared about just as much for the well-being of the others and the farm. Especially a cat he had such fond feelings for. A cat that needed his protecting so desperately- her lack of precision had proven that much to him. A cat like Lillith. Of course the youngins needed him just as much, but they had the protection of every adult. Lillith was different. Naive. Graceless. Kits had room to grow and learn, but the calico she-cat was an adult. It was a wonder how she'd even made it thus far.
With a sigh, Leo reached down to help her to her paws. Purring gently, "Quiet a tumble you took there. I'd thought I'd been attacked by some half blind rat." ✧✧✧
Smoke had never been anywhere other than his den. The den he'd grown up in and learned everything he'd known. He hardly shared it with anyone since his mother's departure. Unless you counted his patients but they stayed in entirely different quarters. He lived a lonely, yet busy life. Never giving himself the time to settle down. To meet a cat that he bonded with on a different level than being their doctor. The closest thing to affection was the bond that he shared with Cinder. Nothing more. A healer had to focus on his duties right?
Maybe deep down a part of him longed for a companion. Someone who could be more than a friend. Someone who he could go to after a long day of collecting herbs or tending to cats. A cat he could confide in with all his problems. Share meals with every morning and evening. A cat that wasn't going to leave as soon as they felt better. They would stay forever and spend the rest of their days with Smoke. Never having to do anything alone again. But that longing was deep down, buried beneath his priorities. But this time, he'd given in to that longing. Smoke had agreed, for the first time in his life, to take a break. To put himself first. With Percy, this strange yet comforting new cat he'd only met that very morning. A cat that had ruined his hunt but made up for afterwards just out of the kindness in his heart. You didn't run into cats like that everyday. Surely this one sacrifice was worth it because it was Percy.
Besides, Percy was going to help him gain more information. They were going to be spending time together anyway, what hurt would it do to start now?
"Nonsense. If this is messy, I would have hated for you to see my den." He purred flashing the ginger tom a toothy grin. Rising to his paws and padding over to join him, taking in the den. His green eyes glimmered with excitement as they landed on the nest that was to be his. "Ah, keeping a nest ready because you knew I'd make my nest eventually, eh?" Smoke added, a mischievous glimmer in his eye. Soon to be replaced with embarrassment, the tabby ducking his head to lick the fur on his chest. "Or any other cat! It's a good thing to be prepared." Smoke was not a flirtatious cat. He didn't know the first thing about romance! Of course the bed hadn't been for him. How would Percy have known? Percy was just being kind that was all.
The gray tabby then dipped his head graciously at Percy's thanks. "No, thank you for inviting me. We both probably could have used the company, and the break." There was no way he could have been sure any cat would have come seeking his den for refuge. He could have been spending this snowstorm in his home alone. For now it was best to be appreciative to have this opportunity. "I hardly ever spend time with cats that aren't my patients."

[ hopefully yesterday wasn't too bad for ya, whisper! but glad to see you back today c': soot - i do have solomon and comet still open, and whisper offered quinn if you wanna do something with her ^^ ] Percy »
The sight of Smoke’s toothy grin brought Percy’s own smile to his face. Playfully he rolled his eyes, chuffing at the gray tom as he shook his head in an attempt to hold back the laughter bubbling up from inside his chest. ”Alright, but how many cats come into your den? It’s probably hard to keep up with all the messes they make sometimes.” For all Percy knew Smoke had a new visitor in his den every other day. Between hunting, preparing nests, and healing injured cats Smoke surely had little to no time to clean up his den. There was probably time to tidy up nests for the injured and sick, but beyond that, Percy didn’t think Smoke had time to make his den spotless. Whereas with Percy, all he had to do was worry about his next meal. The ginger and white tabby had plenty of spare time to keep his den tidy.
Smoke’s next comment caught Percy off guard. He paused momentarily, eyeing the gray tabby with surprise in his green gaze. Was Smoke trying to flirt with him? Percy hadn’t thought of Smoke as the flirtatious type.
The laughter that he had hid earlier came out unbidden, hearty and unstoppable. The loner’s body shook with the sound, his tail curling up high in the air over his back. ”Wh…why Smoke…!” Percy’s head shook as he tried to speak, laughter tumbling over his words. ”I never…never took you as th-the type to be a flirt!” When it came to romance Percy didn’t have much experience. He had had crushes on cats before, mostly just fleeting emotions of longing that spurned from loneliness. There had been a time when Lavender had still been living with him that he wondered if they could one day become something more than denmates, that perhaps Lavender would stay with him forever and they could settle down together, maybe even raise a litter or two of kits. That dream had been crushed when the molly had left him without a word, but she had not been the first cat he had yearned for in such a way, and she would most certainly not be the last. Percy had a lot of love to give. Some could even call him a hopeless romantic, the type of cat to fall for another that gave him attention for more than just a day or two, but Percy would never outright admit to that. He just liked companionship, there was nothing wrong with that.
Eventually the laughter died, Percy rubbing his face with a paw to wipe away the water that had formed in his eyes. He took a moment to recollect himself, breathing deeply. He managed to gather himself after a second, yet amusement still crackled off of him like tiny sparks. ”I’m glad I could offer you a break from work, then. And thanks for sticking around. It’s not often I get cats who do that,” he added with a genuine appreciation in his voice. Recovered from his bout of laughter earlier, Percy could now speak levelly and truthfully, and he had to say he was honestly thankful that Smoke had chosen to spend time, and the night, with him.

”Honest, it’s alright,” he mewed, pushing the trout closer to the she-cat. He was much more relaxed now that he saw that she wasn’t a threat.
“It’s actually just nice to talk to someone every now and then. I may be a loner, but I enjoy good company,” River purred as he sat down on the frost covered ground, letting the newcomer have the first bite. A cool breeze blew by for a moment and River’s long tabby coat puffed up in an attempt to stay warm.
