!! PLEASE DM ME FOR A LINK TO THE GOOGLE SHEETS !!
Throughout the next few weeks, I'll try my best to get all 45 pages of 'fics available here on the wff into the database. This should allow for easy sorting and searching by author, date, and word count if you're looking for new content to read, as well as dividing the content into "finished" "unfinished" and "short story" catagories.
Note: not all fanfiction will be shown in the database.
ALL short stories/one shots/poems included ALL completed fics included; there also may be some older completed 'fics that were on the old forum and saved to google drives that may also be included in the database. I'll be working to try and get my hands on more titles so I can host a larger library of wff "classics" INCOMPLETE FICS will only be included if they are at least 10k words or are currently updating (posted on within the last year). 'Fics that are only prologues + a few chapters before being abandoned will not be included in the database.
If you have any old, saved fanfiction that you would like me to host & include, please DM me a list of the titles and authors. If you would like me to remove your fanfiction from the database, please let me know! I'm including everything by default, as they are all still publicly available on the forums, but I'm happy to remove entries if you do not want your 'fic easily referenced in the database.
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT NECROPOST! Some 'fic in the database are on old, dead thread and should NOT be posted on! If the user is still active, you should find another way to contact them to comment on their fic. If they are not, please allow those threads to remain a memorial to these old members and their creative content. If the last comment in the thread is made BEFORE 2021, do NOT comment on the thread as this is necroposting. Thank you!

All this will be so helpful future readers! I currently have, my own tracker for personal things, but I'll maybe look at this from time to time!

thanks I've been meaning to do this for a while and the longer I put it off, the more I have to do (even if this place is hella dead)
I'm 6 pages in. I can do about 3 pages in one sitting before getting tired.

I have my own fan fiction. It's called Warriors: The Shadows Within. I haven't made it past Chapter 1. I got the prologue and Chapter 1.

I haven't abandoned it but I need help on it. I'm willing for someone else to take the idea and finish it so it can be included on here eventually, just DM me. Here: wcrpforums.com/thread/84843/warriors-shadows-preview-chapter-1

it'll be at least a few weeks before I get to the 2020's lmao but I'll make sure to note it as active
And you should just write it! I know that sounds like dumb advice but just keep writing the characters doing things and eventually it will come to you. It's fanfiction, the plot pacing doesn't have to be perfect; indeed, it shouldn't be, because people are usually more invested in the mundane interactions between characters (esp canon ones) than they care about plot. So just have characters talk to each other and you'll be most of the way there

I've had a hard time with dialogue and writing the story. here's my two cents: The important thing is simply to write Something. Anything. It doesn't matter if it's good, or bad, or doesn't sound right. Simply writing Something is the important part. You can worry about making the characters stay in character or good dialogue later. Really, the point of fanfiction is to write the scenes you can see in your head between those two characters that wasn't in the books. So choose two characters, choose an argument or something they'd talk about, and then write what you think they'd say. There's no wrong answers.

Also you really need to embrace the fact that your first time writing in any new genre is probably going to suck. But that's okay, because you're learning and you have to have that bad first draft over with to get to the better ones. So just do it. Embrace it.

I have not read canon in over a decade. And again, the important part is that you write it how you see it. Don't try and think about if the plot is good or bad; it's all good because its yours and you're the one writing it. You can focus on other projects being "good". This one will always be great, because it's your first and that means you were determined enough to actually put your thoughts onto paper and finish a project, yeah?

Like my first finished fic, Safe Haven. Was it good? Hell no, the prose was awkward, the pacing was awful, I only kept the premise in my head for like, maybe half the plotline, and my characters were flat af.
BUT was it important? Yes, because I needed to make those mistakes. I would have never learned to make good writing if I didn't first create that slightly cringe 'fic in 2013. And there were lots of great elements to it! Because I really VIBED with the characters. I let them do cool shit just to see how it would go. I had fun making dialogue that I had vivid ideas for in my head.
And now, if I ever rewrite it, it could be great because I had so many vibrant ideas to build from in that first draft.

You can read it if you want. Thanks for the advise. I really appreciate it.

I was browsing old threads from like early 2018 in Warriors General and stumbled across someone's predictions for A Vision of Shadows #5: River of Fire. I thought it was a good prediction and we all know how RoF actually turned out. So I took the predictions and began writing from it.

I'm currently in the middle of upgrading computers so everything has been in utter disarray for the last few weeks. When I figure out the passwords to all my accounts I will slowly get back into doing projects like this.

I thought fan fiction was exempt from necroposting. It kinda is? there's more wiggle room and authors are allowed to bump up their own old projects whenever they want, but bringing back abandoned projects to the front page is not ideal either, if that's pushing new and active works off the front page. I'd trust some of the older members' judgement on what should and shouldn't be bumped back up, but I don't want this database to cause a slew of posts from new members commenting on someone's old forum one-shot, or asking if a two-chapter project abandoned in 2016 if they're coming back if that makes sense? I do agree that authors should get that feedback that people are reading, which is why--under the warning--I encouraged people to dm the author or perhaps comment on a more active thread of theirs instead of the original post.

Fan Fiction is exempt from necroposting, yes. More of a social guideline than me breathing down your neck, heh heh. I won't do anything if someone bumps up old works. If it becomes spammy I may ask - with a regular user hat on, as it were - to maybe consider not burying the front page in 14 one-shots from 2017. XD But so would just about any other WFF user in this case.

Thanks for the clarification, Minted. It makes sense. I agree on abandoned works, but finished works need the love, too. :-) I went back to NEW BLOOD after doing edits on my 700 page Book III (yikes) and found a lot of typos! Sheesh so I had to go in and correct them. Then did some minor edits. Then bumped it.
Brownie, I get what you're saying. If the author abandoned the work or even left the forums, those should probably left unbumped.
I don't have as much time as I used to, so not creating much new stuff but still dabbling with Rising Stars, and am still waiting for the characters to tell me what they have up their big fuzzy paws. So updates may be further apart than I used to post. I do update my Phantomstar's Corner on occasion, too. Pretty soon, in about 7 moons, I'll be posting an age update. Dang-goes so fast.
Anyway this whole idea of a database is really awesome. Feel free to use whatever I have, including one shots, and collaborations that tie to NEW BLOOD, and any contest entry I may have entered.
