This isn't an announcement that is too important. Recently, members have been experiencing slowness and bad gateway on the forums. I posted a thread to PB about 2 months ago, asking about it and they asked me to provide links to threads, posts, etc. where bad gateway or slowness occurs. Thing is... it's almost all of the threads I access along with posts. If anyone is experiencing slowness and/or bad gateway, please me know! I'd like to report it to PB in hopes of it being fixed. As of 26/10/2023, ProBoards informed me that: "we've made some changes at the start of this week which should address those. When was the most recent error message? Also, if it happens again can you please provide a recent screenshot. Thanks." Update #1:
If any of you can answer these questions, you can DM them to me or post them. Up to you.
- Are you and the members who are experiencing the problem all from the same geographic location?
- Are you all using a VPN?
- Are you experiencing this only a certain times of day?
- Is it happening right now?
Update #2:
If you experience slow loading time or get the bad gateway error, please screenshot it. Update #3: Post Link Info
Please answer the questions to Update #1 as I have to gather data from those of us who experience slow loading and/or bad gateway. You will need to do the following:
- If/when it happens again, can you please screenshot the error page/error message (only need this once).
- Also keep a list of the date and times you are experiencing the gateway errors/slow loading. You can include additional notes on how long it took to load or how long the slow loading lasts. Other members that are experiencing this please have them keep list of dates and times as well. (Note, for any member submitting a list I'll need to know their region, and username.)
Update 4 & 5: As of 20/8/2023, ProBoards has "made a change to hopefully provide more overhead and reduce or eliminate the errors. Please let me know if the frequency of err bears changes for you." |

All the time. Proboards is kind of slow but for the past few months it's been even slower than usual.

Bad gateway has been my training arc for deleting double posts and I am now faster than a ninja
I cannot be stopped.
Anyways, yeah it happens about every fifth or sixth time I post. It's particularly bad when I try and edit or update a page with images on it; the lag with that happens probably every other edit.
E- Ironically, it happened just now! Nice!

Hilarious that there isnt a single vote for no.
If you were hoping to prove that pb staff is oblivious to the issues of their own platform then congrats youve done it.
Though part of me also wonders if it might have something to do with like the sheer amount of threads & posts?? Im not sure how other pb forum communities are but the ones I have seen have all ranged from incredibly small to maybe half the size/post count we have here at best and I can't help but wonder if pb was just woefully unprepared for the great warrior cats forum migration.

I’ve got enough proof at this point, but the issue for me is gathering all of it. Like. Do you expect me to spent 2+ hours copying and pasting 84,000+ threads and 3 million posts ? I need an army for this. It could be possible. I will check on the PB support board to see how many posts & threads they have and compare it to ours. I’ll start in the afternoon today and then ask them for help. We are a very strong force. Just look at us. |

I still voted no, since I don’t really encounter any slowness. Bad Gateway does occur sometimes but it’s pretty rare on my end.

I check in on the forums on and off throughout the day, there doesn't really seem to be a pattern to when it happens or why. I just got here so let me click around and I'll edit this lol. EDIT: 1:04 cst, it seems to not be happening right this minute after making a few replies and also clicking around on pc. I will scope out the mobile situation momentarily EDIT 2: Mobile is actually working smoothly too, even though its usually the thing that struggles every single time instead of only occasionally. Like... REALLY smooth. I'm so confused because it hasn't worked this well in months.🧍 Also this information wasn't asked for: but my internet is google fiber and firefox. |

Midwest US No but I do have an ad-on that blocks ads and trackers Happens all the time, but maybe worse at high-traffic hours a bit slow updating a few posts but no gateway errors today (yet) |

I would say which state but then it would become kinda obvious which city I live in - No VPN for me - I haven't noticed it's worse at any particular time, but I'll keep an eye out from now on - Not at the moment, it's pretty good |

- Nope, but much like another user, I have Ad-Block on. Let me go whitelist and see if that does anything. Was meaning to anyway.
- It appears to be all day and it was happening in Germany two months ago at the same frequency and that's a 9 hour difference, so I doubt there's a pattern.
- It's a little slow right now (7:50 PST).

It is currently being slow for me as well. Not as bad as it gets sometimes but noticeable decline from yesterday.

The instructions I received from PB are confusing me. Like, I understand the first part of it, but by the second part, nothing make any sense. I've asked Felix for help.
like, I understand how some part of Dev Tools work with internet browsers, but... not this part.

Just happened to me now while trying to like another member’s post on the Omen of the Stars thread. I couldn’t like their post due to a slow loading error, and then bad gateway happened (this is on the mobile desktop version). ibb.co/MsY177Jibb.co/hYGytJTThis is great! Well, not in the aspect of slow loading & bad gateway errors, but thank you for the screenshots. I've finally figured out what I did wrong with the instructions I was given. Had to ask Felix (again, I'm sorry btw) and I got an error request from the bad gateway 502 script. I sent it to PB, so hopefully this time it'll make sense. If not, I'm kinda dumb. |

So far no response today because PB doesn't work on Saturday & Sundays, so I'll be waiting until Monday from 9am to 5pm (pacific time). Hopefully I'll catch them when they're online so I can provide a faster reply.

Update #3:
A PB admin has responded to me with what we/I have to do next. I'm gonna have to gather data from my own time on this site as well as your data (e.g. slow loading times, bad gateway errors, etc.). If you don't feel comfortable with this, it's okay.
Anyways, here's what I've been told:
Time to start testing around threads I guess. Will put an Excel sheet together and see what I can add.
Other Instructions
pre warning: if you know how to use DevTools on your browser, you can try this out. Don't feel inclined to do it.
- If this is a frequent issue we can try to diagnose what is causing the slow loading by hitting F12 on your keyboard and then opening the Network tab.
- Refresh the page and then let us know what is taking a long time to load.
- Check the Time column (which you can click to sort by time) and see if any particular file or object stands out as taking super long or erroring.
- Take a screenshot of that item or copy the text for that item and then post it here.
