EDIT sorry wrong quote. BrokentailKit stealing was going to other clans and adoption centers and "stealing" kits via roleplay. It was a way of growing your clan and having fun. Some well known kit stealing roleplays were/are Megaboneclan, The Sisterhood, Brambleclan, etc. Being successful is the same as any other clan - lots of members, lots of fun, plots, etc. MBC and The Sisterhood kept getting deleted and The Sisterhood eventually died away. Kit stealing was really popular in the WCF's old days. Some people took kit stealing too far and would steal without permission (which was considered spam). And it took on new forms: kit steaking, hugging, dressing, anything like that. It was also considered spam. That is how the "No kit-_____ing" rule developed. There was also a counter-kit stealing group called the Kit Savers that would "fight" (roleplay with kit stealing roleplays) to return kits to their clans or give them a better home. That was so long ago though. I think the last person who ran it was Silverbreeze. imo, kit stealing was a lot of fun. I was a kit stealer myself and I really miss it, too bad people did it tastelessly, now it's pretty much universally banned across fanclans.

I don't know a whole lot about it, but there was a huge attack by a troll called Hai that people were still talking about years after it happened. Maybe an older member knows more about it. Also, there was the Umadpelt Uprising. OOTS-local, but warranted its own TV Tropes page. FINALLY SOMEONE REMEMBERS HAI. Ahem. Yeah, I remember the whole thing. I wasn't online, but basically she posted these threads with really nasty, derogatory comments about this one member, and made claims that they'd seen them nude and had pics to prove it. She started a bunch of flame wars and actually drove that one member to quit the forums for (I think) forever. Right before she was banned she promised to come back, so for the next few days everyone was coming up with plans for what to do if she returned. Basically the agreement was that everyone would spam every thread with a certain word, and then everyone would leave the forums for several hours. Good times, good times. Good god, I remember this. I had just joined when Hai "attacked". There was also this rumor that Dan got banned because he was Hai, but not sure if that is any true or not.

This is the kind of thing we need for this to be a proper "history" thread. Actual historical retellings and explanations, not just... naming stuff.

The Waffle-Pancake war. When Purplee003 tried to kill Cheesypopcorncat out of nowhere. The breakfast wars. When a bunch of forumers made breakfast food-related armies and tried to attack one another. The notable ones were the Waffle army. The Pancake army. And the Fruit Assassins. The Great Avatar war which was when the forums divided into several sections. The Yellowfang army, the Hawkfrost army and the Brambleclaw army. There was also the Sol assassin(Brooksie). Plus, there was refuges and shelters spread all across the forums.

It wasn't that long ago, but the Pingupocalypse was when everyone started posting Pingu, Pingu quotes, Pingu images, Pingu OCs and Pingu Ascii Art. This is the time when Bluerain achieved the status of 'Pingu'. I'm pretty sure I started it, too, because 5 mins after I referenced the episode where Pingu peed himself suddenly everyone is posting Pingu too? Nah man I helped out too, making approx. 15 Pingu threads in under an hour

A lot of people reported people they didn't like saying that they were Hai on an alt. account in an attempt to get them banned. The mods didn't fall for it, however, since Hai was IP banned and thus couldn't even view the forums.

*Pokes Wild* Hi!!!! Anyways, lets see.. I've been on here since year one as well, actually month one ^^. I kinda stayed out of the fray for the kit stealing/saving thing, but my character got apprentice stolen once. That was... Interesting haha. Anyways the forums was my home for seven years so I hope I can do it some justice with memories... 1. Snailmailing this was for quite a bit of the first few months of the forums. The mods went through every post to clear it before putting it online. Tedious, right? Eventually they implemented the quick reply, to the delight of the fans 2. Hawkerstar She was our first troll, I think. She came around 2010/2011 and caused like complete havoc. She went to all of the well to do role-plays and posted a bunch of cussing and inflammatory remarks in order to have the threads shut down. She was banned, then she came back. Upon her return the forumers fought back, which was beautiful. 3. Mogwai Mogwai was a a fellow forumer who was diagnosed with cancer (Leukemia? I think I could be wrong. This was back in 2012ish I think. My memories not all that great when it comes to dates) anyways she actually started up a blog, keeping everyone posted on what was going on with her, and was fairly popular on the forums because of how nice she was. She ended up passing away, and (again this part may not be 100% accurate this is just what I saw) the forumers who knew her all emailed Erin Hunter and she actually put her warrior name in the Allegiances for one of the series 4. The Forum Mom! Okay, can't remember her name because this was back in 2009/2010 but there was a mom who joined the forums along with her daughter and she had an advice column so I just called her the forum mom. She was really neat and gave out great advice, but ended up leaving because she didn't want the younger users feeling uncomfortable with her being on here. EbonyClaws comic eh, deserved a shoutout, was a heck popular comic for a while there. Not sure what happened to it.
Anyways thats what I can remember for now... will probably post more later

OH I remember the stage fight on that furry roleplay and everyone freaked out because they thought someone had been hacked? I don't really remember all the details, though. It seems like the thread was deleted; I had it bookmarked and it didn't show up, so I'm guessing it doesn't exist anymore. Some members, like PrinecssDovewing, I think, were really scared, and they actually logged out for quite a while before they fessed up?

In all my time on the forums (since 2010), I never understood kit-stealing. What was the point? And what would make someone "successful" at it? Same, and I'm sad that I can't add more to this thread. I pretty much stuck to my own corner of the forums and didn't come up to surface. Kit-stealing sounds almost like you were some rogue assassins, now retired. Hi, Sweet!
Leopardfur was the mom's name. And i was told that the mods banned her for her being over the age of 18. Freaked me out a good bit. Thought when I turned 18, I would be banned. Does anyone remember before Off Topics? We didn't have a place to do anything other than Warrior/Seekers. So they opened up Off Topics. It half full of those RPs and half of actually conversations. People were getting mad at the other so the mods split it off again. I once had an RP I was in be moved to Off Topics because we drifted from the RP and just started talking for a bit. We had to start over again on a new page.

Kit Caves became the big things after that. Where you had to earn the kits love by how difficult it was to get along with. Those were so weird to understand.
I think they were going to? But they decided not to because it would have split the art forum too much. They were going to split it between graphic shops and fan art but everything went into a lull for a while so they left it alone. I think that was also around the time they switched to the hoop.la forums.

I remember kit stealers used to have pages that listed all the kits they'd stolen. I may not be remembering this correctly, but sometimes other kit stealers would come along and re-steal the kits. xD

Kit-Stealers would steal from other kit-stealers and kit-savers would try to take them back. It got a little crazy at one point because someone's actually character got stolen and they didn't want that. So when they told the person that stole them they wanted their character back, they said no. So a kit that was RPed by someone was stolen without permission and then wasn't given back to the original owner who RPed the character that never wanted to be stolen in the first place.
Kit-Caves, Sky Kits, the love for kits we all had! I liked this one Kit Generator. It was fairly interesting. You "put" somethings inside and it "gave" you a kit. It could be any kind: clan, tribe, ancient, rouge, kittypet, magical, fly, etc. Very nicely done.
