oh that's cool, my dad does airplane models and the painting always takes forever cause he's super specific about it lol
and yay for more yarn crafts Lizard. I don't actually do much with granny squares, though I recently bought a skein of this specialty granny square yarn that's striped so you don't have to switch yarn colors between rings and I wanna try to make something with it, maybe one of those granny square drawstring bags :>

less of a craft but i need to patch some of my work shirts. the collars are tearing and its a bit of an awkward spot to fix so i keep putting it off. one of them i feel like i could embroider over for decoration though so that could be fun.

Good luck! I’ve actually done a bit of that myself. I have some uniforms that I’ve had to sew insignia onto. And sew buttons back on/secure them! Always makes me feel accomplished fixing my stuff up!

That sounds so cool! I’ve decorated tote bags, but I’ve never made one! Are you sewing it together? How does that process work?

I knit as well, I recently got done knitting coasters for everyone in my household, and a pot holder for my sister using the garter/basic knit stitch, now I'm knitting a scarf for my nephew using the seed stitch, and after that I'm going to knit a blanket for my niece using the moss stitch. How did you learn to knit?

I've made several bags before its like my one area in sewing where i'm decently knowledgeable. One is going to be like a super simple sling tote bc I rlly just want to showcase the fabric (super cute print of little dragons!), so that one's gonna be like three pieces that i'll line and then seam together. The other one is going to be a quilted tote, so that one's a little tougher bc I have to cut a bunch of squares and stitch them back together into a block pattern, and then i'll have to line it separately and add a strap.

How did you learn to knit? I love moss stitch! it looks so pretty as a larger piece of knit material. what color is the blanket going to be? My mom taught me my basic knit stitches when I was about six (...good grief this made me realize i've been knitting for like twenty years) bc I'd seen my grandma knitting and I really wanted to learn, and then when I turned eight I started going to a yarn group at my local library and the women there taught me more stitches (and how to bind off properly bc i'd never quite grasped that until then lol) and how to read patterns and stuff, and they introduced me to crochet! a lot of more advanced stuff i've also picked up from the internet as I got older, there really is a tutorial out there for everything.

It's going to be this bright yellow color, once I finish the seed stitch scarf I'm working on, I'm going to practice starting a row with the purl stitch, because that's my weak point with moss stitching, then I'm going to start the blanket. 20 years is a long time, what's the biggest project you've ever done? I started learning about two weeks ago, so I'm still a beginner pretty much, how I learned was from watching a tutorial videos, then I looked up different knit stiches, and watched a tutorial video, or read a how to on how to do it, what I really like about knitting, is how your hands look like they're doing a dance when you thread the yarn, I find the fluidity of motions and stuff really cool. What's your favorite pattern to do?

Mostly little bags. The first time I tried it ended up looking like a weird ass shoe, and so I decided to put it on my water bottle and it looked like a mullet XD.

What's your favorite pattern to do? that sounds cute, yellow is my fave color. biggest project i've ever done was the queen size blanket i mentioned in the first post of this thread lol. i was suffocating under it as it got bigger. My favorite patterns are probably fingerless gloves, i've done a ton of those. there's enough technique/variation in them to keep things interesting but they also work up really fast which is nice.

That's so cool, how long did it take you to make fingerless gloves? depends on the pattern, some of the more simple ones i could knock out a pair in 4-6 hours, for ones with patterns/longer sets bc i've done some that were basically arm warmers it could be 8-10. my knitting speed is also just super variable if i'm distracted so sometimes very easy patterns still take me ages lol
