Finally finished the second Chibi plushie I have been working on with my mom. He turned out decent with the exception of an overstuffed head which leads to his eyes being a bit too far apart and his mismatching feet size. His hair took a lot of work with all of those spikes! Here is the second character of mine, after Harmony. Meet Elijah! One picture of his front, one of his back, one of his size compared to my hand, one beside Harmony, and one beside all the plushies I have ever made alongside my mom. There's also a separate thread about this, just thought I'd post it here as well.

Currently undertaking the big Task of sorting and organizing my craft materials + throwing out/donating the stuff I will probably not use. Hoping if I declutter it'll be less overwhelming and I'll actually be able to do more.
I have an offensive amount of yarn :')

Bleak yay fellow knitter! I have a block blanket pattern saved for the future, but don't wanna start it till I've finished my current nightmare blanket :') are the blocks on yours like different stitch patterns or color patterns?
volchitsa4 cosplay definitely counts! this is for any and all crafting c: what kind of cosplays have you made?

At the start of cosplaying I bought the clothes and made the props but I quickly wanted to start sewing myself so at the start I made: -Ryuko's scissorblade from KILL la KILL (bought the clothes) -Attack on Titan ODM gear - fem! Loki -Inuyasha (did the ears myself. attaching them to the wig took me like 2 hours I was so annoyed haha)
Then as I learnt to sew I made:
-Princess Monooke (my first ever sewing project. Had more fun making her mask though lol) - X-23 Wolverine- (Second sewing project and decided tackling stretch fabric was appropriate and I struggled so much but it's amazing and I love it) -Tumnus (still kinda a crowning achievement for me I made his legs and hooves in a week for my sister's birthday) -Prince Zuko - Catra (The Gem in my crown tbh! I made her wig myself and while her suit was a bit messy I am going to be making 2.0 soon)

And in the future I want to do Titan Luz from The Owl House <3 I'm really excited to give it a go because I want to try upcycling some Harry Potter stuff that was given to me but I don't really use. I think it would be a really cool project to tackle within the parameters of only using stuff I already have!

I'm the opposite lol I've sewn some cosplay/costume pieces but haven't done much prop work so far, I'd like to get more into it. The Mononoke cosplay sounds cool that was always my fave Ghibli movie! Tumnus rlly is impressive tho I've seen people do satyr legs for ren fairs and stuff like that before and they seem super complicated.

Tumnus rlly is impressive tho I've seen people do satyr legs for ren fairs and stuff like that before and they seem super complicated. Awesome! What cosplays have you done? I love prop stuff, to me it's a lot easier than sewing haha. It's a lot washer if you pick characters you can find tutorials for until you get the hang of the processes. Tumnus was certainly a challenge. He's definitely not the most well put together seeing as how quickly I had to make him and in the end I actually had to sew the legs to the pants I wore underneath xD I actually found a really lovely tutorial and opted out of a lot of the "shaping" that the legs would need due to time constraints but I'm still happy with the end result. Also clay foam was my best friend in this costume! It's how I made the hooves and literally built and shaped them onto a pair of cheap heels- which again I opted not to cut the heel off of but that was mostly because the heels would have been VERY difficult to walk in without the heel as the toe part wasn't quite flat with the floor and had a very small balance area without the heel

lol I haven't done much I work slow, but I made Wirt from Over the Garden Wall and Renfri from The Witcher (which was my only piece of prop work actually, I made her brooch from clay, was pretty happy with how it turned out). Also have a partial Alicent Hightower (from House of the Dragon) costume sewed, but I never got around to finishing it.
i've seen the stuff people make with clay foam and like eva foam it gets crazy. it's just kinda pricy so i've never had a chance to work with it. your mention of the heel makes me wonder how people make the hoof legs i've seen before actually. how do they balance them on just the toes? it makes sense you'd need extra support in the back.

Ohhhh an Alicent Hightower cosplay is so freaking cool!
Oh hell yeah eva foam builds can get insane. One of my favourite thing I've seen (online, not irl) is a Reinhart cosplay. It's crazy what people can do. The tutorial that I got she actually made the hooves from resin, which is pretty sturdy and that is what you actually walk around on it as long as it's attached properly. I think one thing that the resin base does is widen the base so the surface is bigger than the shoe if that makes sense? and there was only a couple of eva foam inserts around just above the knee to create the illusion of a different leg shape.
But I have seen on youtube someone who completely built a leg structure out of wood and it look great but as they said it was very heavy and their legs were in it a bit awkwardly but holy hell it was amazing and looked so supernatural

dragging this thread back before it passes into necroposting territory
i've been working on the nightmare blanket, and also got some jeans w/ holes in them that I patched from the inside so the patch fabric shows through the hole which was an interesting sewing experiment. I'm not one for distressed jeans but I think the patchwork makes it kinda cute.

I recently went up to a friends house for help with remaking my Catra costume. I'm happy so far, the quality is much better and hopefully the crotch pf the costume will work out better this time haha

lol i am returning to my plans of cosplaying the entire otgw cast, in this case attempting a Lorna outfit. the only annoying thing is that I went to spirit halloween hoping i could at least get some fake bones to put in my apron and a set of fangs, but they didn't have either of those and without them her outfit's basically just a 1600s puritan costume. but i'm already in the process of making it so we're rolling with it.
currently finagling my way around making it as a separate skirt and top bc skirt fabric was expensive and I want to make it a skirt I can wear in my normal wardrobe as well as part of the costume.

current crafting is mostly just designing gingerbread houses lol
it's been a while and i never updated but the halloween costume ended up unfinished bc i was intimidated about putting in a zipper. so it joins the pile of mostly done sewing projects that i need to find the courage to finish.
anybody else working on anything fun esp as we head into the holidays?

I have done a little (very messy) whittling in the past, i might try it again at some point. stone carving is also fun though you need some more specialized tools for it.

i used a round knitting loom to make a beanie !! it kind of ended up looking really goofy in the end though, like it literally looked like goofy's hat
i like crocheting!! i only really know how to make granny squares right now, but soon i'm gonna try and learn how to crochet circles and balls so i can start making plushies for my friends.
i'm also re-learning how to sew right now, i used to sew when i was younger but haven't sewn anything in a long long time
