Little meow meow“Agreed,” Crowpaw nodded, “We can only hope it’s a GaleClan patrol looking for you Firepaw, but perhaps it’s best if we try to get back home as fast as we can.”He stood on his hind legs, as tall as he had the strength to do so, just enough to see over the heather. In the distance he could see some movement within the flowers heading in their direction. He sat back down and told the group what he had seen. “If either of you know the quickest way back, now would be the time to lead.”

✸✸❣✸✸
Panic and fear clouded the long-haired molly's mind. Her two children were all that was keeping Wisteriaflower going each and every day. Her heart seized at the idea that they might be taken from her. The idea that they may have been killed filled her with barely contained rage, and the she-cat felt her body start to tremble, a mixture of fear and anger taking hold of her. Her breathing quickened, and her claws sank into the ground below her. It was the sound of the clan's medicine cat, Amberleaf, that brought her back. Her claws retracted and she felt her body slump forwards slightly, a whimper leaving her. "I can't find my children. They are missing!" The tracker whispered. She looked up at the medicine cat, fear taking hold of her once more. "What if they are hurt. I could not bear it if something happened to them!"
✸✸❣✸✸
Snaketongue rumbled out a laugh at her apprentice's enthusiasm. "Indeed, you will make a fine warrior one day." The molly flicked her apprentice softly on the ears with her tail, before she padded past the white and grey apprentice, flicking her tail quickly to motion Swiftpaw to follow her. "I want you to stick close to me. With what has happened, I do not wish for you to separate from me in case something were to happen."

Kestreltalon (on the heather beds, with Birchheart): The ginger tom smirked, feeling a little silly at his lack of understanding. When he was that age all he ever wanted to do was sneak off to run the length of the moors, the cool breeze rippling in his fur. "I suppose you're right," he said, shaking his head in mock disappointment. "I'm becoming more and more of a stickler in my old age. At this rate I'll be harassing the apprentice's for delousing by newleaf." Directing his attention to where Birchheart spotted movement, Kestreltalon held his tail erect and his jaws parted. "If they're scents are anything to go off, the youngins are nearby, I'd bet you just spotted one. Let's show them a thing or two about duty before they try to run off again."

Featherpaw♀ and Firepaw♂ With all three apprentices in agreement that returning home would be ideal, the siblings nodded in agreement with the younger apprentice, though equally unsure how they were going to escape fully grown cats. If a tracker were among the cats, they were very likely doomed but now sure wasn't the time for pessimism. Firepaw, however had absolutely no idea how to return home at this point, though he was reluctant to mention he'd gotten lost among the plants. Thankfulyl for him, he didn't need to share his shame as Featherpaw initially looked thoughtful, then suddenly perked up.
"I can't say if it's a shortcut, but I do know how to navigate the Heather Beds. The southern end, just before the steep cliffs, open up fsirly close to the camp." Featherpaw explained while Firepaw looked on silently and anxiously. "Depending on who is after us, maybe the scents will confuse them long enough for us to get down there, then we can make a run for camp." Surely it was still a fair distance, but this time they weren't trying to find someone either. Amberleaf♂ Location; Galeclan Camp With Wisteriaflower
daydreams Amberleaf gently pressed against the panicked mother in a gentle attempt to calm her as he heard her woes, though he were no more pleased to hear confirmation he'd heard her right. Both apprentices were certainly gone. "They are clever little things, I'm sure they are alright." he reassured at first, though he would surely not leave her with empty words of comfort among the hysteria of their dead clanmates, "But, if they're missing, Reedwing may have already sent someone after them. In fact, I saw Kestreltalon and Birchheart flying out of camp just as I returned."
Granted, he hadn't caught exactly what they were off doing, but it was as good a guess as any under the circumstance and he hoped that knowing Kestreltalon might be on tracking duty just might give her reason to feel more at ease. Relying on family could surely be more comforting than the words of a simple clanmate, even the Medicine Cat.
Of course, he knew the irrational fear one might feel for the safety of their children might dilute the effectiveness of reasoning but any means of calming the she-cat even a little was a step in the right direction. "Now, now, you wouldn't want them to come home and see you frazzled out of your mind, would you?" He added in a gentle tone, hoping to assuage her worries with thoughts of what she'd do when they returned rather than the current fear of what if they didn't. Redirection was at times the best medicine. Birchheart♂ Location; Moorlands With Kestreltalon
Dawnrise Birchheart was relieved to see the tracker taking his comments all in good humor, after all, he always believed there was a healthy balance between the code and an understanding for one's own clanmates and he didn't truly see Kestreltalon as unreasonable by any means. If anything, he admired the tracker's dedication to the clan and could hardly fault him for wanting better for the clan as well. "The elder's den has been quiet lately, I think Haretooth would be glad for your company." The large ginger teased as playfully as his former comments had been, though he seemed to straighten up with purpose as Kestreltalon confirmed they were likely on the trail of the apprentices.
"A good idea, I'll have to join the Haretooth myself if I have to make it a habit to chase after wandering apprentices." he added with a smile that betrayed how unoffended he was by the job. With Kestreltalons confirmation of what was likely the apprentices, Birchheart broke into a sprint towards the heather beds, slowing down only when they were approaching the thick flora.

Little meow meow DawnriseCrowpaw stood up for another look above the flower bed, he could see the heather moving, but whoever was tracking the three apprentices down was still a good distance away. Hopefully enough time for them to reach the south end without being spotted. StarClan forbid there's not a tracker following us. "If you think it's fast enough, then what do we have to lose? Lead the way," he mewed, taking up the rear, trusting the young medicine cat apprentice with everything he had in him to get them out there.

Featherpaw♀ Location; Meather Beds border With Crowpaw and Firepaw
Junospower Featherpaw nodded in acknowledgement to the dark colored cat before turning in the southern direction, and scampering forward, though she was more careful to stay somewhat aware of her companions. She was most used to the southern patches anyways, that often being the direction she'd come from camp when joining one of the Medicine Cat's for herb collection. After all, they'd only gone such a round about way when leaving camp due to looking for her brother, of whom seemed to be keeping pace fairly well behind her, thankfully. Perhaps if they'd come the shorter way from the beginning, they'd have found Firepaw sooner and been back to camp, but there was litle reason to think about what ifs at this point. When the pale ginger finally came to a stop, she was peeking into the moorlands from the heather, hoping that she wouldn't see other cats, though she was grateful to see the hills in the distance that sheltered the camp. It would be a heck of a sprint, especially if someone was close enough to see them, and in that case she hardly thought they'd make it before being jumped but they had come this far... They didn' have much choice.

(Sorry all! Work and life has been busy! I feel like I've missed so much!) Palewhisker -- Middle of Galeclan Camp -- With Gorseleap, 🐦silvermoon2🐦
Palewhisker felt as though she could sense some of her own anxiety over the arrangement reflected in Gorseleap's reply. But Greystar is right, she reminded herself again. She studied the light brown she cat for a moment, then, flicked her eyes to the ground, cautious. "Say, Gorseleap..." She began slowly. She looked over towards where Shadowstep was, wondering how to word her question without giving away too much of her true feelings. "Have you heard anything about where Shadowstep was earlier? I thought he was on this same patrol and I just don't know if maybe he had seen anything for not... I mean, thank Starclan he was okay." She tacked on the last sentence, covering her tracks. She didn't want to let Gorseleap know how suspicious she was of the tom's involvment in her clanmates' murder, but she could had to ask around. Morbid curiosity was gnawing at her like a rat.
Thorneyes -- Middle of Galeclan Camp -- With Amberleaf, Little meow meow
Thorneyes felt the fur on his back slowly settle back into place. Amberleaf's words had the intended effect- he was comforted. He had been right about his summation of Stormstar. Thorneyes had always found the Mossclan leader to be respectable, if a little bland and matter of fact during gatherings. Not the type of cat that Thorneyes himself would go out of the way to befriend, but one that he felt like he could trust, if he weren't from another clan. And more than that was the comfort from Amberleaf's suggestion of a possible advantage, should battle be in the cards. Thorneyes had no desire for war, and hated the idea of his sister being on the frontlines. But he couldn't help but be relieved to hear there may be a contingency plan. "Yeah... I think you're right." He flicked his ears in goodbye as Amberleaf excused himself. For a moment he watched, seeing if perhaps he and the queen needed some help, but soon realized the medicine cat was using his relaxed demeanor once more, his words smoother than any medicine to try to calm his clanmate. Even still, he listened, his ears perked up to hear from his position several tail lengths away, in case there was something that needed to be done that he could busy his paws with. He would welcome a distraction.

Swiftpaw(with Snaketounge, leaving camp) daydreams Swiftpaw swelled with pride at her mentors praise. Then she followed her mentor out of camp, the cool breeze felt good on her fur and she relished all the scents of the forest. Swiftpaw nodded fervently at her mentor's warning' I will' she responded. Cold unease crawled through her pelt, what if MossClan did choose to attack now, was anywhere safe from them? She pushed the uneasy thoughts away and focused on the joy of being out in the forest with her mentor. Gorseleap(with Palewhisker, in camp) bluewonder 'No, I haven't heard anything' Gorseleap replied, 'why was Palewhisker so interested in Shadowstep', Gorseleap thought. 'I'm glad he was ok,too' she continued' Why do you ask?' Gorseleap flicked her gaze over to where Shadowstep was, eyeing him intently, 'I wonder...' she thought. Gorseleap had never really trusted the tom, who had left MossClan for GaleClan. 'Which clan is he really loyal to' she thought suspiciously 'Perhaps Palewhisker had doubts about him too' she thought, sensing the unease in the she-cat's voice as she spoke about the withdrawn warrior.

Little meow meowCrowpaw came to a stop next to Featherpaw, relieved to see distant hills that marked the camp. If they all made one final push for camp, they’ll probably make it back home unnoticed. He felt his dark pelt bristle a bit, even if they managed to get back unseen, there was probably no avoiding punishment. It was against the rules to leave camp without a mentor and he would be surprised if Greystar was particularly harsher on him. But still, what did they have to lose? “One more push forward and we can probably make it.”

(Depending on what happens, I'm already thinking about punishments cause Greystar would be ticked cause cats are not listening to him lol)
Briarnose slowly makes her way over to Brindlestorm and presses her nose into the striped cat's fur. She didn't really know what to say or feel in this moment. She They would often go on patrol and chat about whatever came to their minds. "I'll see you in Starclan my friend." She muttered under her breath her voice cracking slightly.

Kestreltalon (on heather beds, with Birchheart):
Smirking as he stared out across the rolling fields, pale purple in the brisk air of leaf-bare, Kestreltalon was sure he was on the apprentice's trail. Even with a nearly overpowering floral aroma surrounding him, their scents were fresh and it was obvious they hadn't taken the precaution to hide their trails. "Birchheart, I think they're nearby now, possibly just over the next hill. Stay low to the ground and move quickly and we should be able to overtake them," he said, locking eyes with Birchheart to make sure he heard every word. "After all, they're only apprentices."

Shadowstep♂ The grieving may not have completely subsided, but with the leader's address completed, Shadowstep pushed himself to his paws, gaze drifting to the forms of the dead cats with an unspoken sadness. If nothing else, he felt he could slip away for the time being and escape the looks that, although beginning to die away, still remained to a lesser degree. It wasn't as if he had room to defend himself, nor would he have if asked; he hadn't been there and even to him that made him just as guilty. Whether or not his presence would have changed anything mattered not, nor did the fact they'd told him to go on home ahead, for him it was the principle itself that he had left them at all.
Offering an unspoken prayer to starclan, the long-limbed tom made his way along the side of camp, his attempt to remain out of the way, towards the Warrior's den. He only wished it was not almost directly across from where he'd been sitting previously. Even that small walk felt like it took so much longer. Shadowstep continued passed Palewhisker and Gorseleap, unaware that he was their current topic of discussion, and soon had leapt up the short ledge and slipped into the darkness of the warrior's den. Featherpaw♀ Location; Moorlands With Crowpaw and Firepaw
Junospower Featherpaw glanced back towards Crowpaw and Firepaw with a nod, agreeing that they just might be able to make it. "I don't think we have any other option anyways." She added before turning her eyes back to the Moors, taking comfort in the knowledge that at least free from the heather beds she didn't have to worry about losing her companions. Even so, that was equally bad for them should someone be behind them... However, even if it was danger, chances were they'd get close enough to camp for help to arrive, although that would hardly look good for them either.
She only hoped she could at least lessen the trouble for Crowpaw, mostly because it was her fault he was out here in the first place. Firepaw, on the other hand, deserved whatever he got and Featherpaw would accept her punishment. Not that she was too sure what could be done to her, Amberleaf wasn't exactly the strictest cat either but this was a very serious time to be vanishing. "Alright, let's go..." the pale ginger replied before making a dash for it. Firepaw♂ Location; Moorlands With Crowpaw and Featherpaw
Junospower The look on Firepaw's face told everything it needed to, the young tom very aware he was going to be in big trouble, but it still paled against the grief of knowing he'd picked such a poor time to go against his own moral compass. Honestly, he felt like he'd be lucky if he was promoted to senior apprentice after this stunt, his paws feeling like led under the tragic reality he might have been assigned a mentor any day now but instead... well, he couldn't begin to say for sure what Greystar would do and he didn't think his previously pristine track record was going to save him.
Pulling himself from his dreary thoughts at the words of the other two apprentices, he gave a light nod, though his gaze fell back to his paws soon after. This wasn't the time to be moping and yet.. Shaking away his thoughts again as Featherpaw took off, he followed behind as fast as he could go. Birchheart♂ Once again, Birchheart couldn't help but be amazed by the Tracker's skill, his own nose only catching the barest traces once in a while through the scent of heather and lavender. He was simply glad, at this point, that he'd chosen to accompany Kestreltalon. It'd surely turned what could have been a difficult search into a quick and efficient one, and he looked forward to returning to the camp safely with the three young cats. As the tracker spoke, he slowed his step, doing as he was directed with an affirmative nod, "I'll just have to be careful not to run them over." he replied in a joking manner, as aware as anyone that he was a fairly large cat, but his size had hardly been an issue in the past. Well, aside from anything including small spaces. "But right, they sure aren't runner apprentices so it shouldn't be an issue." he added agreeably, though he doubted even a runner apprentice could have out run the two warriors at that age.
Once they'd both confirmed they were ready, and perhaps out of time to debate it, Birchheart swiftly dove forward after the fleeing apprentices alongside Kestreltalon. Tragically for the younger cats, Their small legs hardly had the speed and power to outrun a fully grown cat and although it may have felt longer, it was but minutes before Birchheart was able to move ahead and swerve in front of the young cats to forceably bring them to a skidding stop. "You three have sure kept us busy." Featherpaw♀ and Firepaw♂ Featherpaw and Firepaw both came to a skidding halt, practically crashing into the thick ginger fur of the warriors where they would immediately share looks of horror. For a moment they weren't sure if being found by clanmates was a better option to being gobbled up by non-clan cats. "Uh.. F-Fancy seeing you two here..." Featherpaw murmured out awkwardly, avoiding making eye contact with either of them while Firepaw stared down at his paws guiltily.

Little meow meow Dawnrise Crowpaw stood wide-eyed and shocked at the sudden appearance of the two warriors. Instead of cowering in fear like he so desperately wanted to do, instincts from his time at twoleg place took over and assumed his respectful position. His back so straight it almost looked painful, his head bowed low and his amber eyes staring at his feet as to not look at the warriors in the eye. He was sure this looked strange to the clan cats, but it was how he was raised. Old habits die hard.

Kestreltalon: Kestreltalon tried to stifle his deep satisfaction as he and Birchheart leapt out in front of the stunned apprentices. As much as he would like to gloat at outsmarting them, he had to put on a serious, senior-warrior glower to match the solemnity of the situation. "I truly can't express how disappointed I am in the three of you right now. Especially you, Firepaw," he snapped through gritted teeth, turning to address the ringleader of the affair directly. "It may surprise you to learn that while you were off gallivanting about the moors, three of our clan members lay dead back at camp. Not only was your sister worried sick, she risked her pelt out here trying to find you." He grimaced as he thought of the bloodshed of the days events, and then shook his head, forcing the feelings and grief and heartbreak away until a better time.
"Crowpaw and your sister were out here risking their hides for you, not because they wanted to frolick and play, but because they were worried. You forsook your duty to stay put of pure self-interest. For that, I think you deserve to spend the next moon caring for someone beside yourself," he growled, his voice filled now with somber dismay, letting the young cat sit with the weight of his misbehavior. "You may not be entertained by the day to day bustle about camp, but I can assure you you'll be twice as bored by scouring Haretooth's pelt for ticks the next moon. Maybe helping the cats who once put food in the mouths of your parents as kits will help you learn something about responsibility." "And don't think you're getting out of this scot-free, either," he continued, raising his voice to address the two other apprentices. "You knew our clan was in crisis, and yet you still chose to worry the rest of us and cause an even bigger commotion than was needed. You may think that you're perfectly capable of fending for yourselves, but neither one of you are properly trained to be out alone like this. You could've gotten seriously hurt or worse," he scolded, the disapproval in his voice hiding his true concerns these cats, his kin. "I expect the three of you to spend the night sitting vigil with our fallen comrades. These brave warriors gave up their lives fullfilling their duty to our clan. I think the least you all could do is share tongues with them and reflect upon your actions, hopefully it will keep you out of Starclan's ranks a little while longer."

Little meow meow Dawnrise “Yes Kestreltalon…” Crowpaw mewed, still in his position. There were no words to describe the utter shame he had felt. Kestreltalon may have been light on him and Featherpaw, be he knew there was only the worst to come when Greystar got ahold of him. Crowpaw dared to look up at the warrior’s stern and disappointed face, a waiting his next order while remaining perfectly still.

Firepaw♂ Although Crowpaw had already informed the dark ginger apprentice of the deaths that had occured that morning, it certainly felt more real coming from Kestreltalon, Firepaw sinking lower in guilt and shame. Of course he didn't think the other apprentice had been lying in that regard, but he'd hardly the time to process it and part of him had hoped it had just been an exaggeration. That maybe they'd only been injured and just seemed like they were dying, though that was childishly naive and improbable. He knew, however, that his uncle would make no such mistake. It was certainly worse it was Kestreltalon, though, the young apprentice looking up to his uncle, and Firepaw couldn't say he was being treated unfairly over the incident, even if he didn't like it. He may not have necessarily broken the warrior code, but he had caused distress among his clanmates and leaving without a word was certainly not the correct option.
"I understand, Kestreltalon." he replied simply, offering no excuses for his actions as more petulant apprentices might have. It wasn't as if he could even say his little romp through the Moorlands had anything to show, he'd completely failed at catching anything amongst the scarcity. Although he might have liked to leap to Featherpaw and Crowpaw's defense, he had no legs to stand on in that regard and simply cast apologetic glances their way in silence. Featherpaw♀ Featherpaw briefly wondered if perhaps asking the Warrior for help first had been a mistake, knowing that had probably put him on their trails that much faster, but knew they'd have been found out one way or another. She had only wished it wasn't out here like this where she absolutely didn't have a paw to stand on against the valid accusations. She doubted her own mentor would oppose her uncle's punishments, though, so perhaps it was a pointless endeavor regardless.
However despite the hot shame burning into her coat, she stood tall with an indignant gaze at the older cat, "Me and Firepaw deserve to be punished, certainly, but I would say Crowpaw did nothing but follow the ill-conceived notions of a Medicine Cat's apprentice." She stated sharply, though she felt as though her legs might give out from the sheer nerves she was stirring up by actively speaking against not only her uncle but a full-fledged warrior. She wasn't even sure her words would hold up but she would have said them to Greystar himself if it even had the smallest chance to absolve Crowpaw of misdeeds, after all, he was going to have a hard enough time fitting into a clan that despised outsiders without a negative mark on his figurative record so early. Birchheart♂ Birchheart observed silently initially, allowing Kestreltalon to make his point, and perhaps he also did not wish to step where he had no right to. After all, Firepaw and Featherpaw WERE Kestreltalon's kin and Birchheart could only imagine how upset the cat had been despite putting on a strong face this whole experience. The large ginger also knew his own weakness for his clanmates and wouldn't wish to risk his own softness downplaying the severity of what had transpired, although ultimately Greystar would be the one to dole out more extensive punishment. Their leader was fair, but he was certain that Kestreltalon was letting them off easy compared to what awaited them back at camp.
He almost pitied Featherpaw, though, her defense of the new apprentice was admirable, but to talk back.. well.. he certainly didn't envy that. Perhaps it was to prevent further discourse that he suddenly spoke up, "We should return to camp." he began, "If nothing else, Greystar will want to follow up with all this, and Wisteriaflower will want to know these two are alright." he explained, glancing over to Kestreltalon as if hoping the tom could ignore the apprentice's disrespect for the time being.

(( Just to initiate all this daydreams Just so you know Wisteriaflower's brother is back with her dumb kids LOL)) Birchheart♂ With the conflict concluded for the time being, Birchheart led the apprentices back to camp along side Kestreltalon, taking up the rear as they funneled into the camp tunnel. As they made their way inside, the ginger tom was able to step into the clearing and soon passed the others as he made his way towards the Leader's den. He paused, glancing towards the distraught Wisteriaflower in unspoken pity before flicking his tail in her direction, as if signalling to Kestreltalon where his sister was -- hoping the tom would see to letting her know the young apprentices were safe.
With that out of the way, he lept onto the ledge where the den's opening sat and calmly called out for the leader. "Greystar, do you have a moment? Kestreltalon and I need to speak with you." He wasn't sure if the leader even knew the apprentices had disappeared by now, although he had assumed Reedwing would have let him know at the earliest convenience of them both. However, he couldn't exactly blame her if she hadn't, with everything going on, he imagined Reedwing and Greystar alike were simply trying to keep the peace.

Crowpaw sat in the camp clearing close by to the high rock, awaiting his inevitable punishment. He kept close to the other apprentices, his head hung low. His thoughts started to race with all the possible punishments Greystar could give them. Maybe his training would be delayed, or he would never be a warrior. Maybe Greystar would throw him out of the Clan! The dark colored tom's claws dug in and out of the dirt in anxiety.

Kestreltalon (in camp, with Wisteriaflower): Padding up to his sister behind Firepaw and Featherpaw, he addressed her with a sympathetic nod. "I'm sure you're glad to see these two back again," he said, looming over the apprentices with a grave air. "I hope you weren't too worried, and I am truly sorry nobody told you about the situation. You were asleep when we left and I didn't want to worry you." Kestreltalon chastized himself for the lack of communication, a thoughtless mistake at a time like this. In the frenzy of the search he must have gotten carried away. The two apprentices were home safe, now, though, but he couldn't help but beat himself up over it.

Featherpaw♀ Location; Galeclan Camp With Kestreltalon, Crowpaw, Wisteriaflower & Firepaw
Dawnrise daydreams @junospawer Like Crowpaw, Featherpaw had made her way quietly into the clearing, no longer with the confidence she'd displayed against her uncle's punishment for the dark grey apprentice. After all, it was one thing to talk big in front of her kin but she'd never really had any particular closeness with the leader himself. Respect? Yes, but one-sided respect would earn her no favors. The pale ginger certainly couldn't meet the gaze of her mother or her mentor as she took a seat, eyes flicking nervously between her paws and the direction of the Leader's den. Even so, she had her hopes that Greystar would be lenient to some degree, he was a fair leader, after all, but then again she doubted he was immune to the stress this whole situation with the border patrol had caused. She doubted he'd prevent any of them from ever becoming warrior or Medicine Cat respectively over something as small as leaving camp without permission. The more she considered that, the calmer she felt over the situation. Firepaw♂ Location; Galeclan Camp With Kestreltalon, Crowpaw, Wisteriaflower & Featherpaw
Dawnrise daydreams @junospawer Firepaw, on the other hand had stared wide-eyed into the center of the camp clearing for several moments, the horror clear on his face as his gaze remained fixated on the bodies of their clanmates. It certainly took him a long moment befor he could make his way over towards his mother at Kestreltalon's guidence, and by the time he'd settled, the apprentice looked absolutely defeated and twice as miserable, unable to do more than silently stare down at his paws in a mix of grief and shame.
To think he'd spent that morning complaining that Robinflame hadn't prepared an initiate training lesson before going out on dawn patrol but not he'd simply never see the deputy do anything ever again. Firepaw couldn't even apologize for his stupid selfish thoughts and perhaps that was what made it worse. The dark ginger apprentice almost wondered if he even deserved to be a warrior after this, and worried that the leader himself might have the same thoughts. It may not have been his fault that the other warriors died, and perhaps it was dramatic of him to be so torn up over his actions to this degree, but some part of him really felt he'd done something unforgiveable.
