Shadowstep♂ Location; Galeclan Territory With Bristlethorn
lunapaw🐾 Despite his previous hostility, perhaps part of Shadowstep had enjoyed the company more than he'd like to admit, and certainly far more than he would think he deserved. Yet, even he was not without weakness and with exhaustion looming over him and the sun high in the sky, he felt a desperate need for some rest. It truly wouldn't do for Bristlethorn to risk missing a hunting patrol on his account either, assuming she was assigned for one. He hardly paid attention to hunting patrol assignments on a good day, but it wasn't as if he imagined Reedwing had prepared further hunting patrols yet anyway.
"Perhaps you'll even get sent out with a cat who actually slept this morning." he snorted, his tone almost bordering on playful but ever subdued by his grumpier disposition. "And I might not be opposed to your company again in the future." with those words, Shadowstep returned the direction they came, heading for the few kills they'd managed that morning. Birchheart♂ Location; Galeclan Camp With Reedwing
blu Birchheart had remained quiet after the leader had left, observing the bodies with a silent vigilance, defeat weighing down his broad shoulders. To see those who grieved for the loss as well made his heart sink further, knowing well enough there was little anyone could do to ease the pain -- least of all the pain of unjustified deaths. The large ginger wasn't exactly a fan of violence as it was, but he certainly couldn't blame his clanmates for their anger and their desire for vengeance, even he was not immune to the desire to see justice done. Especially after being one of those that had brought the bodies back from the scene of the massacre. Perhaps it was with kindness he was pulled from his thoughts by the approach of the clan's deputy, his dear friend Reedwing, pressing against her gently as she sat beside him. Whether it was him offering comfort or seeking it was anyone's guess, but maybe he hoped it came acrossed as both.
The tom nodded softly in response to Reedwing's words, "Indeed, they will.. and let their courage grant us the strength and wisdom to see to it their sacrifices weren't made in vain." Although he couldn't say he'd had a particularly strong bond with any of those that lay before them, Birchheart was no less affected by the deaths of his clanmates. After all, he still had known them, and it was painfully easy to imagine those he was closer to among the bodies of the fallen. His eyes moved from the bodies to his companion, sympathy in his gaze, "How are you holding up, though? I can't imagine this being any easier for you." BristlethornGaleclan Territory with Shadowstep, Little meow meow She had enjoyed hunting with the tom, though above all she was grateful for his company. She thought quietly for a moment, wondering if what she was feeling for the tom was something a bit more complicated than she had thought. They had been pretty successful, and she was ready to return to camp by now. Though she wasn't exhausted, she was ready to rest up a bit. She chuckled at his comment. "Perhaps." She said, though she would've rather spent more time with him. She smiled at his next words, feeling a bit proud of herself for making a good impression. She followed behind him eagerly, ready to gather their kills.

Kestreltalon (in camp, with Featherpaw, Birchheart, and Reedwing): The ginger tom shook his head in disappointment. "No, sorry I haven't," he said disappointingly. Kestreltalon frowned, registering the look of worry on her face. I'm sure she's upset, her only brother and with all this going on... "Look, I'm sure he's fine, Featherpaw. He's a new apprentice, he probably just got lost on his way to the dirtplace." Come to think of it, he hadn't seen Firepaw all day. It wasn't usual for that apprentice in particular to be missing without reason. Firepaw was usually so reliable and Kestreltalon had to admit that he was worried too. Of course, today nothing was as usual. All the peace and security the clan took for granted seemed turned on its head, and everything seemed disordered and wrong. Standing up from the dead cat's vigil, he brushed himself off. "Let me see if he's around here before we panic. You can check the apprentices den and I'll check around the warriors and elders." He turned away from the ginger tabby to search the dens, but hesitated, wheeling around to face her again. "And Featherpaw, please, don't worry about your brother. We'll find him, I promise." Sniffing around in the warrior's cave he couldn't find a trace of the young tabby tom. The elder's hadn't heard anything either, themselves being more upset about their unplucked ticks. Kestreltalon nodded to the senior cats as he left their den, running into a spiderweb on his way out. Fox-dung! On a day like this he has to go and disappear? This generation of apprentices has no respect!
With his search expended, he approached Birchheart and Reedwing, two senior warriors who would know what to do. He nodded respectfully to the two cats, first Reedwing and then Birchheart. "Deputy," he began, addressing his superior first, "I don't want to worry anyone but I think we might have a situation." He went on to explain Firepaw's disappearance, making sure not to embellish or draw conclusions that weren't there. "I'm sure it's nothing, but...with all that's going on we need every cat we can safe in camp."

Shadowstep♂ Location; Galeclan Camp With Bristlethorn, Clanmates
lunapaw🐾 As oblivious as ever to the thoughts of the she-cat, shadowstep followed through with his intentions, making his way back towards their previous kills and aiding in carrying what he could back to camp. He couldn't say their haul was impressive by natural standards but for leafbare it would have to suffice. There was also leniency to be had in this being an informal hunt in the spare time of a few warriors compared to a hunting patrol, thus he used that knowledge to assuage any discontent he might have felt for giving in so early.
It was a bit of a trip back, but soon enough the mound that concealed the camp appeared before them and the long limbed cat slipped around to the tunnel opening that led inside, grateful when it opened up into the small cavern. Pushing through was normally not that big a deal but it always seemed more complicated when one had to shove prey along the tunnel as well. However, that relief faded as the gloominess of the camp reached him, the sight of the bodies stretched alogn the center of camp causing his fur to bristle immediately. He managed to calm himself enough to deposit the prey in the freshkill pile before slowly stepping forward to witness the casualties. His blood ran cold and his muscles stiffened as he recognized the lifeless bodies, each from the patrol he'd been among that morning. They'd all been perfectly okay when he'd departed that morning, what could have happened?
Despite his thoughts, he was very aware of the eyes that had moved to him, and the murmurs that erupted in hushed accusatory tones. It was no secret Shadowstep had been among that patrol and yet he stood here alive and well, while the patrol did not. All save Thistleheart who he could barely make out off to the side with another cat. He suddenly had a feeling he wasn't going to have a very restful encounter. Featherpaw♀ Featherpaw initially looked very unconvinced by the warrior's words, unable to believe Firepaw would simply have gotten mildly lost, after all, she hadn't seen him since early that morning. She recalled how frustrated he had seemed about their deputy, who now lay dead among the row of cats, having not set up the initiate training patrol before leaving for Dawn patrol. It was not incorrect to say training had been falling a bit behind between the struggles of Leafbare and the comforts of extended peace, but it was no less frustrating to consider her brother might have acted foolishly in his desperation. He was so strict about following the Warrior code himself that she had doubted he'd run off on his own initially, but the more she'd thought about the loop holes he could expoit, the more she'd grown worried. It was with relief that she gazed upon her uncle as he seemed to grow more concerned as well, and she eagerly nodded in anxiety at his suggestion. "Okay, I'll check the apprentice's den.. maybe one of the other apprentices have seen him if he's not there." the latter half of her statement was more hopefulness for her benefit that even if she couldn't find him, maybe one of the others had.
Despite her worries, the additional words of comfort from Kestreltalon seemed to at least be landing now, the tense fear seeming to dwindle under his gaze, "Y-Yes, Uncle.." she had replied softly but hopefully before making a run for the Apprentice's den. It was nearby but she felt no less in a rush to search, desperately wishing she'd find him curled up in grumpy sleep. Despite these hopes, all she saw was the near empty den, only a few bodies curled among the moss and none of them the ginger form of her brother. "Has anyone seen Firepaw?" she called out softly into the darkness, hoping anyone awake might be able to offer some idea to his wherabouts. . ((Ill post for Birchheart once Reedwing has responded))

He still didn’t know everyone in the clan yet, yet the panic and desperation in her voice drew him to her to lend aid. “Hello? Is everything alright?” The dark gray tom asked cautiously. He hadn’t seen her in the den before, but judging by the scent of herbs on her pelt answered the question of why before he asked.

Featherpaw♀ Featherpaw seemed all the more distressed when it seemed she would receive no response from within the den. She'd thought for sure Toadpaw might have been awake after fleeing so suddenly from the clearing and yet she could only assume his silence meant he had already fallen asleep. It was easy to imagine given how unmotivated and lazy that particular apprentice could be. She was drawn from the stressful reality she had found no answer by the sound of another voice. It wasn't familiar to her but as she turned her wide eyes in the direction of it, she could make out the dark gray form she had seen only from a distance. "Oh, you..! You're Crowpaw, right?" she exclaimed in a rushed voice, remembering the name mentioned to her by her own mentor not but a day or so ago. Despite Galeclan's known harshness on outsiders, she was not all that surprised to see a younger cat accepted into their ranks and with her own age and rank, she hardly saw a reason to view any cat in a negative light.
"I, well, I'm looking for my brother, Firepaw. I haven't seen him since this morning... and with everything going on right now..." the ginger explained somewhat frantically but seemingly unwilling to fully delve into unexpected chaos of the day. "It's just not like him to vanish like this.. Have you seen him by any chance? Kinda small-ish, dark ginger fur, white chest, really doesn't look a lot like me... Usually a real stickler for the rules..." She did her best to hurriedly explain give a general explanation of the ginger tabby, though she felt it hopeless and unlikely that the newcomer would actually know who in Galeclan she was even talking about. Granted, he was fairly distinct among the apprentices but even so...

“No, not since this morning I haven’t,” Crowpaw confessed, remembering seeing the tom leave the den earlier that day. He turned his amber gaze away in thought, trying to think back if he had seen Firepaw at any point during his wanders around camp.
He turned his gaze back, eyes kind, “But I’d be happy to help you search for him. I’ve been stuck in camp without a mentor, so it’d be great to occupy my time for a bit,” he purred, laughter in his voice, “where did you se him last?”

Featherpaw♀ The young pale ginger couldn't disguise her disappointment upon the news she'd already suspected, Firepaw really must have just left without leting anyone know. After all, if he hadn't shared his secrets with Featherpaw herself, she couldn't imagine he'd told just anyone else either. "I was afraid of that.." she murmured softly with a sigh. She trusted her uncle to speak with the other warriors about the apprentice, but she had a feeling he would have no luck there either unless someone had caught him leaving and just said nothing. Unlikely at best. However she did seem to perk up a bit at the offer of help, eyes brightening briefly with gratitude, "Help would be nice, Kestreltalon is already checking with the adults but, well, I'm pretty sure Firepaw wouldn't still be in camp if no one's seen him yet." She explained, more than subtly hinting that she was fairly sure he'd probably left on his own. "He was pretty upset about our deputy not having prepared initiate training lessons before dawn patrol so he's in the same boat as you in that regard." she added, guiltily recalling Firepaw's frustrated venting that morning.
She knew it wasn't her fault that Medicine Cat Apprentices operated outside of the usual age groups, nor did she think he had blamed her, but she still couldn't help feeling that she'd let her brother down. Shaking herself from her own thoughts, Featherpaw knew that moping wouldn't help, "Last time I saw him was this morning as well, we'd eaten and were talking for a bit but then I was called back to the Medicine Cat's den... that was the last I saw of him..." She explained, wrinkling her nose as she tried to remember who all had been in camp around that time. "Maybe Toadpaw or Oakpaw might have seen if he was doing anything after I left. I know those two were in camp when I departed." she explained, shooting a glance towards the supposedly sleeping form of Toadpaw who'd flinched suddenly as if hearing his own name, but if Featherpaw noticed she didn't seem interested in following up on it. (( lunapaw🐾 Since Featherpaw mentions Oakpaw, I thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to join apprentices being apprentices lol ))

(Down for apprentice shenanigans haha)
Crowpaw nodded, "Perhaps Oakpaw would know."
He glanced at sleeping apprentice, Toadpaw if he remembered right. As much as he had thought the more paws the better, something told him the tabby would rather be alone at the moment. He prepared to leave the apprentices' den, when something caught the dark gray tom's attention. His eyes drifted across the camp, landing on the bodies the patrol had brought. Shame crept across his spine at the thought of not knowing their names. How long had they been their? How had he not noticed? He wanted to help medicine cat apprentice find her brother, but he was sure it was going to eat him up inside if he didn't find out.
"Forgive me, but do you know what happened?" He asked cautiously, flicking his eyes over to the bodies in the clearing.

Featherpaw♀ Featherpaw knew Toadpaw well enough she would have surely agreed with Crowpaw, albeit it was less out of kindness and more the knowledge the long legged tom was about as helpful as a tick and twice as stubborn. They'd certainly have better luck with Oakpaw, well, she hoped. The young she-cat moved out of the den as not to further block the entrance, offering a sympathetic glance to the gray and black tom with the realization perhaps he hadn't known yet what had occured. "From what I was hearing while looking for Firepaw, the Dawn patrol was attacked and killed. Greystar only recently returned with a few of the warriors carrying them." She paused, glancing somberly over the bodies as the nagging futility of her skills resurfaced and she could only repeat to herself once more in her head that a Medicine cat could not bring back the dead.
"Sounded like some are blaming Mossclan and others are blaming some loners, but Greystar hasn't made an official response yet." she added somewhat nervously, glancing toward the bodies once more with a certain foreboding. "That's the deputy who was on Dawn patrol this morning, Robinflame..." she whispered, tilting her head towards a particular broad-shouldered cat laying unmoving among the line of cats. Anxiety pricked at her paws once more as she worried for Firepaw but she also couldn't help worrying for her mentor as well, too. If Mossclan would kill a patrol, would they still abide by the warrior code not to kill a Medicine Cat? Would they do the same to a simple apprentice? If she couldn't even guarantee that, could she trust cats outside the clan to spare them..?

A frown deepened on the gray and black tom's face at the sight. He stare a good moment longer, wishing he had had the chance to get to know his fallen clanmates more. He had overheard the cats of GaleClan talk about a place after death, StarClan they called it. Eyes flicking quickly to the sky, it was still day time and no stars had began to show, but he still wondered if Robinflame and the other warrior were already there now. He doesn't know much about StarClan yet, but he hopes in time he will. It seemed to bring the clan cats comfort, and it did the same to him.
"I guess it makes sense that Greystar is holding off. There's always the chance that it could have been something else..." Crowpaw trailed off, falling into step with Featherpaw.

((Gonna post later today, but just droppin' some minor info regarding the super mega dead patrol so that ya'll have names to reference in roleplay. The Second deputy was among the bodies, his name was Robinflame. The other two warriors found dead at the scene were Snowtooth and Brindlestream. As for available characters on my end, all I have completely free/not interacting with others are Toadpaw (who's sulking in the Apprentice's den) and Firepaw (Who's gotten his dumb self lost in the Heather Beds). I don't think anyone would mind if you hopped in on their characters, though. ))

Featherpaw♀ Featherpaw nodded quietly at first, "If nothing else, I imagine he wants to give everyone the chance to grieve... Although I hope he doesn't wait until someone reacts rashly before addressing everyone.." she responded tentatively. Although her attention was divided, she wasn't unaware of suspicious murmurings around camp and she hoped it wouldn't lead to unfair treatment of their Non-Galeclan born members. Nevertheless, she scanned the clearing with little sign of anyone she was looking for and felt more pressed to search out Firepaw herself. Being hasty at this time probably wasn't ideal, but... well, she was not above her own hasty behaviors. That and she felt fairly sure no one in camp knew about her brother's whereabouts. She also had no idea where Oakpaw might have been.
"For now, we can only wish them a safe journey on their way to starclan." she replied finally regarding their fallen clanmates, "But I'll not risk Firepaw joining them, I'm going to try checking outside camp." she added in a low whisper, taking note of the attention of the warriors in the clearing. Perhaps this was no better than Firepaw running off on his own but, she was hoping he'd be nearby and she sure wasn't forcing Crowpaw out with her. With those words, she slunk towards the camp's exit and vanished into the tunnel leading out of camp.

He was without a mentor and it was against the rules for him to leave without one. He wanted to do his best to follow the rules, but at that moment; Featherpaw needed him right now. Perhaps Greystar and Reedwing would be more forgiving that he was helping to find a wayward apprentice. And maybe Featherpaw would count. He looked back and forth between the entrance and the camp clearing one more time before crawling through the opening then raced to catch up with Featherpaw. "Where should we start? I don't know this territory as well as you," he mewed.

Featherpaw♀ Location; Galeclan Territory With Crowpaw
Junospower The young ginger knew the risk well enough but, well, she'd be lying if she said she was without reprehension herself. Not that she wouldn't do everything in her limited power to prevent Crowpaw from suffering the punishments of her actions, she only hoped the words of a Medicine Cat's apprentice carried even a fraction of that which a full Medicine cat's did. Featherpaw knew they'd only gotten this far due to the distraction within the camp but hoped they'd be quick enough to return before the warriors grew more alert again, after all, who could punish them if they were never noticed to have been missing.
"Well, honestly, I've only been to a few specific locations relative to my training." she admitted with some embarrassment, knowing she hadn't exactly been out of camp by herself in, well, ever. She was, after all, hardly older than Crowpaw, and Firepaw probably had more experience than either of them. "We can probably rule out the Mountains and the Twoleg place, Apprentices aren't even allowed out that way. I can't imagine Firepaw justifying either location even in frustration." Featherpaw explained, although she was mostly relieved simply because she didn't know those areas at all yet. She also doubted he'd be that way if he hadn't been noticed by the patrols and hunting parties. The wide expansiveness of the Moorlands were the most likely, but that was a lot of territory in and of itself -- however, it was fairly easy to spot things long distances. "Maybe we should try... this way..." She sounded unconvinced by her own words but began heading clockwise around the massive hill that concealed their camp, intending to head for the center of the Moors. If nothing else, they could cut through their and make their way towards the Heather beds in the unlikely event her brother had made it to one of the few places she was familiar with. Maybe she'd catch his scent along the way...

Little meow meowCrowpaw nodded and followed Featherpaw toward the vast expanse of heather. As the pair headed into the huge flower field, he caught a scent of a cat. "I think I've found something," the dark gray tom called, sniffing the air. The scent was unfamiliar to him, but he thought it smelled like GaleClan. He scanned the area a bit more, spotting what he thought are paw prints in the ground leading into the heather. The were small, about the size of a cat around their age, but he couldn't be sure. It could easily be just an unrelated small cat. "What do you think? Could be Firepaw?" He offered. (Don't mind me, just experimenting with my formatting to make it more readable haha. (( Haha, No worries. I don't expect anything fancy from anyone so do what's best for you! I do it primarily for my own benefit, can easily distinguish my own replies from other folks' and whatnot in case I need to review a previous post from myself or need to check if I've posted recently for one character or another. )) Featherpaw♀ Location; Galeclan Moorlands With Crowpaw
Junospower Featherpaw seemed to brighten both from the possibility they'd already landed on a clue to Firepaw's location and in part simply being impressed Crowpaw even untrained and so new to the clan was already picking up on the scent of Galeclan. If nothing else, that said good things for his future, it was almost sad they couldn't mention this later without the risk of trouble. Assuming they got off scott-free in the first place.
She paused to scent the air, searching for what her companion had so deftly noted, a curious look flashing across her eyes. "Huh..." The apprentice seemed briefly distracted before shaking herself free from her thoughts. There were certainly some cat scents on the breeze, including some that had left her more confused than before, but there was no mistaking Firepaw among them. "Yeah, I think so." she soon replied, choosing to leave her curiosity about the other scents at the wayside for the time being. "Not that I know what that mouse-brain would be doing this far out." she huffed, though there was no mistaking the relief in her tone. "That said, we should keep close to each other, it's easy to lose one's place among the flowers and herbs. Scents can get overpowered by the lavender especially."
(And just for some context where this gremlin is) Firepaw♂ There was little doubt Firepaw had indeed been in the Heather beds, though the expansive nature of it had surely sent him towards the far end away from the Moors. Even so, he felt as though he were getting a better grasp of where he was by the time the flowers thinned and he found himself facing the sheer incline of a cliff, vaguely recognizing it as the natural border between the area occupied by the Twoleg farm and the Moors itself. If nothing else, he knew following it's length would lead him back into the Moors, albeit close to the mountains, even if it were significantly north of the Clan camp.
He'd only hoped none of the adults had realized he was absent, the fear of being incredibly lost fading away to the reality he was in for some trouble when he got home as he became aware of his surroundings. It wasn't as if he had anything to show for the trip, either. Well, that may have been untrue, he had a message for his mother, Wisteriaflower, from some weird cat but that was hardly something he could share with the clan. After all, he'd promised not to and going back on ones word was certainly against the warrior's code! At least he thought so.

(I’m about to hop on in about an hour! I read up on what’s going on. Anyone got open characters? If not, I’ll just plop my cats in and see what happens. I have two warriors and an elder.)

(( Since I've waited a bit for Reedwing, I'll just respond to Kestreltalon now and Blu can catch up when they can )) Birchheart♂ Location; Galeclan Camp With Reedwing, Kestreltalon
blu Dawnrise Birchheart's ears perked as he noticed the approaching slim form of a ginger cat he recognized as Kestreltalon, green eyes regarding the tom initially with silent curiosity. Having not been the first addressed, he remained quiet, listening to the concerns that had been brought forth to Reedwing, though he felt pity for the deputy in that moment. With everything else going on, he hardly believed she'd be thrilled to hear they had a missing apprentice among everything else going on. Even more was the anxiety that pricked in the broad ginger's paws as he recalled the last event of that day had already revealed only the death of their warriors, he hardly wanted to imagine the though of an apprentice among that count.
As if trying to carry some hopefulness, the tom spoke thoughtfully, "If nothing else we can be sure he wasn't among the border patrol..." He took no joy in reminding himself, let along the rest of them, of the massacre but at the same time, it seemed unlikely that there would be multiple instances of unjust slaughter in one day. "And I assume the camp has already been ruled out?" he inquired, though he was fairly sure Kestreltalon wouldn't have brought a missing cat to them if he had been so easy to find. He briefly considered they'd need a tracker, though it occured to him just as quickly that Kestreltalon was in fact a tracker. "Reedwing, if you'd like, Kestreltalon and I could head out to look for the apprentice." He suggested, though certainly not wishing to over extend his limited power in decision making on the already stressed deputy. Even so, with a Tracker and a Fighter, he imagined they'd be quick and fairly undisturbed even if danger still lurked in their territory.

Little meow meow ("gremlin" love it! Think I might have Crowpaw be a tracker in his future, but we'll see!) Slowing his pace to let Featherpaw lead, he pushed through the flowers. The medicine cat apprentice was right, the many scents of flowers and herbs were indeed overwhelming! He had to stop in his tracks to get his bearing and may have had a few sneezing fits from the petals brushing his noses one too many time. The dark gray tom shook his head, knowing he'll have to get used to it eventually as a warrior. He trudged on after clearing his head for the third time, suddenly realizing he had fallen behind and had lost Featherpaw. "Featherpaw? Featherpaw, where are you?" He called out. The dark gray tom ran forward blindly, eventually finding a set of paw prints. Just under the scent of heather and lavender, he could detect GaleClan's scent and followed. (I'll let you decide which sibling he runs into)

Haretooth stared down at the lifeless bodies of her clanmates, her long calico fur twitching as her body gave an involuntary shudder. "Starclan above, how could this happen?" She whispered to herself. As an elder, she had seen her fair share of death. But so many lives claimed all at once... And for what? There hadn't been a clan-wide battle. Could all of this death come from a simple border skirmish? She had been resting peacefully in the elder's den until this point, pulling at a particularly stubborn mat of fur in an attempt to untangle it. It had been a peaceful day. Clan politics, battle... all of this had been so far from her mind. Then, though her hearing was failing, she couldn't mistake the low, haunting cries of her clanmates in mourning... she shuddered again. Those cries were going to echo in her dreams for nights to come, she was sure. "So young..." she whispered, touching her nose to the fur of Brindlestream. She was old enough to remember the kithood of every single one of these noble warriors... and now they were gone. She then stooped to nose Robinflame's cold body in grief. She had never been certain she would get to see him become leader, but only because she thought that she would be the one to die first, not him. Suddenly, the stench of Mossclan hit her nose. She whirled around, her green eyes flashing a challenge to no one in particular. "Mossclan?? Did Mossclan do this?!?" Without waiting for an answer she raised her voice even louder, whipping around to look for Greystar in the crowd. "They MUST pay for their actions! What are we going to do about this... this horror?!?" She openly challenged him, her voice choked and shrill.
---
Thorneyes pinned his ears tightly against his head, feeling sick to his stomach. Before him lay several of his clanmates, dead. Clanmates who had left for a border patrol. Just like every day. He remembered joking around with several of these warriors just before they had headed out . His mind couldn't wrap around the reality of the situation, he felt as though he were watching through someone else's eyes. He slowly, involuntarily almost, stepped a few pawsteps away from the scene and turned away, locking eyes instead with Palewhisker, his sister. He searched her gaze, pupils large with fear, feeling like a kit again and desperately looking for an exit to this new reality... one that seemed so much darker than it had been mere moments before.
---
Palewhisker caught her brother's gaze, steadying him with her own. Her pale green eyes tried to communicate some comfort, some level-headed reassurance to him, but came up short. Her paws trembled wildly and she had to steady her breathing. Killing was against the warrior code, and for all three cats to be dead? It almost seemed like an intentional killing spree. She stiffened as the old she-cat Haretooth yowled her demanding question to Greystar. She had never heard the elder sound so harsh in her life. Giving a small lick to Thorneyes's ear, she stepped away from him to get a better look at her leader, eager to have a direction after such an upsetting turn of events. What would Greystar say? Surely Mossclan needed some sort of recompense. Suddenly, she stiffened. Mossclan? She whirled around to where she had seen Shadowstep enter camp. If she remembered correctly, the tom was originally assigned with this very same patrol. Where had he been this whole time? Her eyes narrowed as her fur began to rise. She had never trusted the tom... how could she? What type of warrior left one clan for another, whatever reasons he said he had? He had no loyalty to the code or his previous clan, and though she couldn't prove it, she suspected he had no true loyalty to Galeclan either, especially after Rainstorm's death. He was too unapproachable, too quiet. Her claws unsheathed silently, digging into the ground below. She wouldn't openly challenge a more senior warrior nor her leader's choice to take him in, but she couldn't bother to hide her suspicion, not after this.
(Thank you Little Meow meow! I forgot that I saw those posts. I think I'll have Haretooth try for Greystar, and my two warriors are up for whoever interacts with them first! They're standing enough apart now to be interacted with as a duo or singularly. )

Kestreltalon (in camp, with Birchheart): Kestroltalon nodded, looking to Reedwing for confirmation. "Yes, I think the two of us should be able to track down the little troublemaker, he couldn't have gotten far," he said, grateful for the added comfort of another warrior amidst all madness and confusion of the day's events. The deputy nodded affirmatively, and Kestreltalon waved his tail for Birchheart to follow as he slinked past the camp entrance onto the moors. Breathing in the. "It's been a while since I've had to actually use my tracking skills on another cat, let's hope I'm not too rusty," he said, half-jokingly. The truth was he never got rusty--at least not in his own estimation--and Kestreltalon felt highly confident, almost intending to show off to the tabby tom. Proceeding to the moors, Kestreltalon kept his nose low to the ground, hoping to pick up a clear scent trail for the apprentice. He wasn't entirely certain when the cat actually left camp though, meaning there was no guarantee he'd have a strong lead to go off of in that regard. Still, as the cats distanced themselves more from camp, a number of competing scents faded. Nevertheless, Firepaw's scent seemed muddled and vague. Kestreltalon thought he might've caught something, but it was weak, probably owing to the breeze across the plains that day.
"Wait!", he called, skidding to a halt as a spotted a broken branch across one of the deer trails leading northeast from camp. "Stop here, what does that look like to you?", he asked, turning to the ginger tom for advice.

(This works out cause I wasn't sure if Greystar should call a clan meeting now or wait lol)
Greystar snapped out of his thoughts when he hears Haretooth. Her words seemed to cause a few cats to look at each other in agreement. He needed to address this now and calm the nerves of his clanmates, or else a riot may erupt. "What we are going to do is increase the number of fighters on patrol, and have it only be warriors and senior apprentices are allowed out until further notice." He takes a moment to look around at his clanmates before speaking again. "This is a terrible tragedy for everyone, but right now we must remain calm. Mossclan may or may not have had something to do with this; but we can't go rushing in demanding answers. I plan on addressing this at the next gathering. Until then, we will keep an extra eye out just in case." He leaves his gaze on Haretooth hoping his little speech would

Firepaw♂ Location; Edge of Heather beds With Crowpaw
Junospower The dark ginger tabby froze as a rustling caught his attention, hios amber eyes wide and fixated on the direction of the noise and horrified to find it seemed to be among the flora. With the strong-scented nature of it, he could hardly make out who or what lay within the tall stalks from this distance and that fear caused him to go rigid, claws unsheathed and fur bristling as if he was prepared to tear whatever it was to pieces on first glance. However, his hostility dwindled away to shock then curiosity as the small gray and black form of a fellow apprentice broke through the plant life. He didn't know Crowpaw particularly well, no one did, but he could at least recognize the cat that had shared the den with him and his fellow apprentices.
His fur seem to lay flat thought his confusion at the sight of the cat did not fade, as if he somehow was in a position to have suspicions to why another apprentice was out this far. "You're Crowpaw, right?" Firepaw stated simply, though there remained a wariness in his tone. The other tom was still coming into the scent of Galeclan, his loner origins still easily detectable even by the ginger apprentice, but there was no mistaking that the scent of Galeclan clung to him to some degree nevertheless. Nevertheless, it was common of Galeclan to feel distrust of outsiders even after being accepted into the clan and although Firepaw wanted to believe him above such negative sentiment, he could help eyeing his fellow apprentice with all the uncertain suspicion of his clanmates as he asked, "What are you doing out here?" Featherpaw♀ By the time Featherpaw had realized she'd lost he companion, he was well and surely out of her sight, having paused to look back and ask something only to be met with silence. She flattened her ears in minor dread, all too late recalling her own first experience had included many a stop to adjust to the sickly sweet scents of herbs even though she resided commonly within the herb addled Medicine Cat's den. She really should have stopped to check on the young black cat when she'd heard his sneezing, unfortunately that realization wouldn't help now. Although she could hear his voice, it had fallen behind quite a bit and she couldn't immediately pick up on the location.
Concerned about drawing extra attention to themselves, however, she withheld calling back initially, simply turning tail to head back the way she came in hopes of running into Crowpaw if he hadn't moved. Despite this hope, her path ended right back out the other side, the she-cat's wide eyes glancing defeated at the Moors just beyond Heather's bed. He'd absolutely not stayed where they'd parted and she had no doubt she'd passed him whichever way he'd chosen to go, oh dear. ((I'm always down to hearing what people would like for their characters, if Tracker's what you'd ultimately like lmk, you've got time to decide for sure ))
