Eagletalon has to move to the nursery, so she gives up her deputy position. Roseleap becomes the new deputy. Eagletalon ends up giving birth to five kits- Snowkit, Songkit, Spotkit, Stagkit and Stoatkit. Only three survive. Chaoskit and Nightmarekit become apprentices. Their mentors are Froststar and Snailnose.
