Russetstar gets mad at him for saying this and he doesn’t get to eat prey for the day. The clan is outraged at this, especially Acornwatcher. He then accuses Fireclan of taking Whisperpaw and Wolfpaw.

The clan has had enough. They decide to chase off Russetstar, just like they did with Wolfstar. Rowangrass decides to let Duskspring be leader since he was the original deputy. Duskstar then sends out search parties to find the cats that left and after many days, they finally found them. (Hope I didn’t miss any cats!)

Now a StarClan-approved leader, the first thing on Duskstar's agenda is to rescue his children Whisperpaw and Wolfpaw from the clutches of FireClan's cruel leader. He teams up with ValleyClan who also had kits stolen. The two send many small border patrol ambushes as distractions while a large patrol charges straight into their camp. It is a success and they get the apprentices back although Spotcloud gets a nasty wound on his throat and needs to recover. Wolfpaw's training is handles by Dewskip while he recovers.
