With Cherry and Creek accounted for, Waspstar hoped that it would discourage their remaining siblings from continuing their kills. However, it had not been very successful. Smokepetal was attacked on the border by another carrion-smelling stranger but he was saved when a patrol was alerted and ran to help. They didn't quite catch whoever it was but Smokepetal's ears had been torn off. When their prisoners were both questioned, they only smirked and said that nothing would stop the clan's downfall.

In an uncontrollable fit of rage, Cloverflower ends up killing Creek out of no where. She was supposed to guard the prisoners that day but she just jumps him and rips out his throat before anyone could drag her away. She said it was revenge at the death of her mother, sister, former mate, and for attacking her son. Cherry is speechless, clearly thinking that they were not going to be harmed as prisoners.

Oscar is frightened at the actions of Cloverflower. Although he did his best to separate himself from Fishtide's kits, they were still kin, and watching Creek die in front of his eyes did little to quell the paranoia he was experiencing. He warns that the others would not hold back now and he wishes to not be apart of the fight when it does come. Cherry however was more willing to talk, fearing for her own life. She let it slip that they took turns to kill and the next cat to try and attack would be Bubblingblaze.

Waspstar decides to place a guard in front of the nursery, heeding Cherry’s warning. In the middle of the night, a loud commotion could be heard in the nursery which turned out to be Bubblingblaze attacking the kits. Poppyshade, Batpool, and Darkbee, who was guarding, rush to stop the cat, but Bubbingblaze runs away, leaving the kits unharmed, luckily.

A patrol led by Beeflight spots two strangers on their borders and, after spotting crow feathers, they attack with no questions asked as Wishpaw runs back to camp for reinforcements. When Feathercall and more warriors arrive, they find that Beeflight had killed Bubblingblaze at the cost of his eyes, blinding the warrior completely in the fight. The other cat who everyone assumed was Cinder had gotten away but was heavily wounded.

Asking Cherry for more information on the others, she shakes her head. Cherry states that all of them had mates and kits. It just depended on whether the mates and kits were willing to fight with them. From what she knew, her mate and kits weren't willing and neither were Cinder's mate and kits. Creek's mate ran away from him, so she wouldn't be willing, but Cherry wasn't sure about Creek's two kits. As for Bubblingblaze and Cinnamonbloom, both their mates and kits were willing, Bubblingblaze having four kits and Cinnamonbloom having three.
Palewing had fallen pregnant.

When Cinnamonbloom attacks their camp, aiming once again to attack the nursery, the clan manages to capture her but not before Dustkit dies. Only Cinder was left unaccounted for although she was injured still from their past battle. Unlike Cherry, Cinnamonbloom was not talking no matter what they tried so Waspstar just leaves them prisoners until Cinder could be caught.

Waspstar decides to have the clan undergo rigorous battle training. If they were attacked again, they would be prepared and hopefully overpower their remaining foes. Meanwhile, Cherry and Cinnamonbloom were getting antsy at their prolonged imprisonment. They were given food, although only the saddest pickings from the fresh kill pile, and the clan generally did not talk to them or if they did, address them with disdain. Many had lost loved ones due to them and it was unsurprising that they were shown very little kindness.

This time, the clan was ready for the attack. With all their training, they manage to hold their own against the four intruders. Their rage had made them sloppy and without the element of surprise on their size, they were outnumbered. Beeflight however had yet to fully adjust to his blindness and it gave him a serious disadvantage when Downface had cornered him. In the end, Beeflight had been dealt a lethal blow and a panicked Oscar had been struck down when he tried to flee midbattle. Fallow and Flame had sustained too many injuries and could not flee, Finfall had been killed by Waspstar, leaving Downface trying to escape. Feathercall chases him down but the two both end up dead when they get hit by a monster while Downface tried to escape to the twolegplace.

Wolfmoon talks to Dustsnout about having Driftkit as a medicine cat apprentice. Dustsnout agrees, since there have been times where two medicine cats weren't enough, or one dies so suddenly. A third would be safe for the clan.
Waspstar wasn't sure what to do with Cherry and Cinnamonbloom. After the death of Bubbleblaze's line, Cherry and Cinnamonbloom decided to tell them where they lived. It was an abandoned house quite far away. The cats camped near the territory every so often, which is why there were so many breaks in between murders.
