Darkpaw and Palepaw were wanting to go out for a walk, but Webseed and Shadowwolf refused to allow them. Instead, the two elders went for a walk themselves, and were murdered. They weren't found until the next day.

Darkpaw is reasonably terrified after the death of his parents and debates on whether he should become a kittypet and remain in a nice, warm, Twoleg nest like his father had spoken of. His sister is more angry, wishing to kill whoever harmed her parents, her anger is also turned on Feathercall and Dustsnout.
“According to your stupid dreams, he’s supposed to be dead, right? Then how comes it’s my dads that are lying dead right now?” The she-cat spats angrily.

Dustsnout had no answers for Palepaw's questions, all he could tell her, was that sometimes the murderer changes targets. It's happened before, that while hunting after a specific target, others will still end up dead along the way.
Poppyshade becomes mates with Sunpad, and Ruddypelt becomes mates with Batpool.

Waspstar was eager to finally hunt down the murderer that had plagued their clan for moons now. She surprised the clan by asking help from FireClan - after all, the murderer had targeted Leopardeye and Nightkit long ago and a good number of FireClan did share some blood with DarkClan now. With two clans now helping, they regularly patrol at night and look for anything suspicious, especially crow feathers.

(So i'm not sure who the murderer is but the only one feather related is Feathercall so I'm gonna roll with this lol)
After some investigating, the fur on Puddlepeak's claws was blue-gray and the scent was distinctly DarkClan. Although Waspstar hated to think ill of her deputy, Feathercall wasn't at camp when Puddlepeak had gone missing and he had yet to return to camp. When he did return later that evening saying he'd gone on a solo hunt, Waspstar put him under watch by both DarkClan warriors and FireClan volunteers in her own den. Feathercall was angry that they suspected him but he could offer no alibi for himself.

The Clan is divided on the recent accusation with Feathercall, some still considering him a loyal deputy. Cloverflower remarks that he probably couldn’t have killed anyone as effectively as the murderer has, due to his limp.

Although Feathercall was suspicious, there was the problem of the murders happening before Feathercall was born, and so if Feathercall was involved, there would most likely be more than one killer. Even if Feathercall was brought up by Fireclan, she highly doubted he would be able to kill his own brother and mother. Still, he was the only one with that pelt colour in Darkclan.
(Why don't we make the murderers Fishtide and any kits he's had?)

In the following days, FireClan angrily announces that one of their own died, kin to Leopardeye. There had been crow feathers found at the scene of the crime but with tracks leading towards the twolegplace. This proves Feathercall's innocence as he had been under watch the whole tike. Dustsnout has another dream and although she has had her accuracy questioned recently, this dream was far more vivid than the others. All the victims thus far had been surroubded in crow feathers and they all swarmed together until the feathers formed a cat she did not recognize. That cat fled to the twolegplace but not before leaping over a pond with a fish on it.

After knowing of Dustcloud's dream, Waspstar made a guess she'd never thought of before. After the battle against Wolfstar and his rogues, both Wolfstar and Wolfclaw died, but Wolfstar's son Fishtide was left alive. Out of the currently living cats, probably only she and Ferretpurr would remember the bitter tom. With fish being a part of Dustcloud's dream, Fishtide was the first cat to pop into Waspstar's mind.

(When I went back a bit, I realized just how old Fishtide was. It would be almost impossible for him to survive this long according to the books, unless if he was taken in by Twolegs.)
Waspstar sends out a large patrol of cats each day to try to track down Fishtide and his kin. The size of the patrols prevent cats from getting murdered when they go out, but Waspstar can only afford to send out one at a time. So far they have been unsuccessful.

Waspstar was concerned now that it was revealed that there could be five possible murderers, maybe even them as a team which would explain how difficult to catch they all were. On one of the large patrols, they manage to catch a stranger about to enter the territory. They chase them down but they get lost in the maze of the twolegplace. Waspstar asks Oscar to be their guide next time, hoping that with his help, they could capture and interrogate them.

The next they spot the same intruder, the clan was more prepared. With Oscar's help, they manage to corner them in an alleyway. Creek put up a fight but was overpowered and brought back to camp as a prisoner. They note the crow feathers that clung on to their messy fur.

(Creek, Cinder and Bubblingblaze, though Bubblingblaze is a mix of blue and orange. Cherry and Cinnamonbloom are orange.)

Upon examination, Creek matched the fur found in Pebblefire's claws, even more so than Feathercall who had been blamed for it. Creek was very aggressive and refused to give any actual information. All he would say is how much he hated DarkClan and that they deserved everything they went through. He was especially angry at Oscar and denounced him from being his kin. Everyone can see that he must have been one of the murderers but without any more information, tehy were all unsure on how to track the rest of them.
