Coconutfall »
Ask the ocean for guidance. Sandheart was right. Why Coconutfall hadn’t thought of that he had no idea. Perhaps his frayed nerves had kept him from coming to that conclusion on his own. It made sense to him, enough sense that he decided that was the reason why.
He nodded his approval. ”You’re right, Sandheart. Surely the Ocean will know what to do, or at least be able to give us a place to start.” The Ocean was never wrong. In all of HibiscusClan history cats had followed what the water had to say. Tradition told the cats to be true to the Ocean, and true they had stayed. Even with everything he had done, Coconutfall believed in the Ocean and never wanted his connection to it ruined. He had fallen in love with another cat outside tradition’s wishes, but his heart had belonged to the ginger molly at his side ever since he could remember. That had to mean something. If they were not destined to be together then why had their love been able to blossom all those moons ago? If they had not meant to be together then why had the Ocean chosen Tigerpaw, his son from his litter with Sandheart, rather than any of his kits he had had with Vanillabloom?
Thoughts tugged at him in the back of his mind. The Ocean was always right, it wouldn’t have made a mistake as grave as this, of that he was certain. So maybe instead of pointing accusatory paws at the water, perhaps this was a mistake made by some other cat. An idea came to him, running cold claws down his spine. Had Palmshade been the cat in the wrong? Had his mother heard the wrong molly’s name when the Ocean told her who should be with her son? How she could have gotten the names Vanillabloom and Sandheart mixed up was beyond Coconutfall. Unless she purposefully meant to go against what the Ocean had told her. But Coconutfall doubted that. His mother had been completely devoted to the Ocean. He also couldn’t think of any reasons as to why Palmshade would be so against Sandheart that she’d lie and say some other molly was meant to be with her son. It made no sense to the oracle. Somewhere something had gone wrong, he just needed to figure out where.
Lost in his reverie, Coconutfall was caught off guard by MIntsong and Basiltail’s arrival. Visibly he was startled. With eyes going wide he turned his attention on the two other felines, pulling away from Sandheart’s touch as if embarrassed to be so close to her under the fiery gaze of her sister. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t afraid of the molly. Her demeanor around him told Coconutfall everything he needed to know - she was not at all pleased with the current oracle and his actions.
Verbally Mintsong was civil. Nothing in her voice spoke of disdain, instead that was all in her posture, in her actions. Even if her words were level, Coconutfall still felt small under her gaze. ”A boa?” He questioned. His voice stuttered, weak under the two cats’ presence. ”They aren’t -” He was going to say that they weren’t usually dangerous, but upon hearing that a scout had already been bitten, he knew that wasn’t the case with this particular boa. Logically he would have told the two that he’d gather a scouting patrol and send them out to get rid of the boa in any way the scouts thought fit, but Basiltail’s interjection made the oracle pause.
”Bugs?” What was a snake doing with bugs? It made no sense to the tabby. Never had he heard of bugs scuttling about on the scales of a boa. But this brought up a challenge. If this boa had insects, and if Basiltail was on to something about these bugs transferring over to their own cats, then this wasn’t as simple as getting scouts out there.
Coconutfall glanced at Sandheart. She gave him strength when he needed it, and, remembering what she had just said, he replied, ”I’m going to speak with the Ocean.” It was then that he was finally able to meet Mintsong’s gaze with a steady one of his own. Her venomous question deflected off of him, the tom unnerved. He had a plan, he was in charge. ”Have the healers check over any cat who might have been in contact with these bugs. We can’t let anything start spreading. As for the boa,” he paused and glanced toward Basiltail, ”we can’t let it stay, but if it’s infested with something we don’t know about, sending cats out there to get close to it may be worse than letting it stay. I don’t want any cats going to Gecko Ravine for now. I doubt the boa will leave from the area. We have other areas that can be used for hunting until we get more details on these bugs.” Coconutfall looked between Basiltail and then to Mintsong. Briefly he glanced toward Sandheart, silently wanting to know what she thought of his plans, but his gaze only lingered for a few seconds before he looked back to Mintsong. She was his greatest contender right now, so if any cat had a problem with what he had just said, it would be the scout standing before him.
Tigerpaw »
Why would a mother not love her kit? It made no sense to Tigerpaw, and as he looked at Ripplepaw, knowing that she needed comfort and just some cat there to help her through whatever turmoil was going on in her mind, he knew that her mother loved her. ”Parents do a lot of weird things,” he started nonchalantly. He shrugged as he looked upward. He knew better than any other cat that parents did some crazy things, but from his experience they did crazy things out of love. Coconutfall had been crazy to go against the Ocean like he had, but it was because he loved Sandheart that he did it. Even though he had been with Ripplepaw, he had noticed his mother and father together; Coconutfall had finally released himself from the grips of his den, and the first cat he had gone to had been Sandheart. Tigerpaw had never seen his parents together so openly, he had only noticed them around one another when he and his sisters had still been in the nursery. It was odd, in a way, seeing the two together, nestled into one another’s presence, but that was enough for Tigerpaw to know that they loved each other immensely, and even if Coconutfall had been distant for the past few days, Tigerpaw felt like his father loved him deeply, and that he loved Whitepaw and Lionpaw just as much. It was enough for him to not lose hope.
”Without the weird things, though, we wouldn’t be where we are. I wouldn’t be here, and who knows if you would have come to the Clan at all.” He looked back to Ripplepaw with the faintest of smiles crossing his muzzle. ”Me not being alive and you not being in the Clan sounds pretty boring, doesn’t it?” Life was complicated, but Tigerpaw still enjoyed it. Life was worth it even with the ups and downs.
At Ripplepaw’s apology he shook his head. ”It’s alright. Every cat gets upset from time to time. I’m just glad I got to help, and I’m glad it wasn’t anything I did,” he added with a chuff of laughter. ”I’d be upset if I had upset you, but I didn’t, so it’s all okay!” He nodded once more, firm and with conviction. It was all okay. Things would be okay. Things would be okay for both him and Ripplepaw.

Lilypool »
Water sprayed all over her from ear-tip to tail-tip, but Lilypool didn’t care. She didn’t care if her tabby calico pelt was skin tight over her body now, what little excess fur she had hanging down like moss falling off a log. She was sure she looked like a drowned bat, but none of that mattered to her right now. What mattered was spending time with her sister and enjoying the simple things in life just as they had as kits. If Redwave were here it would make this all the better, but the mollies’ brother was off skulking somewhere, Lilypool was sure of that. He had barely spoken to any cat since Tigerpaw had been announced as the neophyte. From the brief glimpses Lilypool had caught of him in the last few days, she had noticed the anger that hunched his posture, the disbelief that made his pace heavy. He was riddled with hurt. Lilypool wanted to reach out and help him, but how could she when he was hardly in camp? Now more than ever they needed to all come together as a family, but Lilypool had no idea when that would happen, not with Redwave acting the way he was.
Cold water splashed her directly in the face, quickly snapping her out of her thoughts. Lilypool gasped, taking in a deep breath of air as the world around her came back. No longer was she stuck thinking about her brother, but instead she was face to face with Algaewing, bright with laughter and beaming with glee.
More splashes hit the healer. Lilypool shook her head, water dripping from her ears and rolling down her face. She jumped back, trying to avoid Algaewing’s splashes. That’s when an idea came to her, a mischievous grin crossing her features.
Drawing in a deep breath, Lilypool pushed off with her back feet, lunging out of the water only to dive right back in, her whole body submerging itself. She drew her front limbs back, forcefully propelling herself through the water until she was right in front of her sister’s legs. The tabico lunged, circling her paws around her sister’s front legs before enclosing them. She then pulled back sharply, Algaewing’s limbs still in her grip, hoping to knock her littermate off balance and pull her down into the water with her.

Rookfall
With - [ Cliffstorm ]
Location - [ Calm Fall ]
Glad that he seemingly didn't make it obvious that he'd been distracted - at least, that's what he thought - Rookfall pulled himself back into his current conversation. He chuckled at Cliffstorm's story, remembering the times when he'd seen the rambunctious apprentice battling with his littermates. During his own apprenticeship, Rookfall had shared the den with only Drizzlefur and Bluepool; it had been quiet and peaceful. He was always close with his sister but Bluepool was more introverted and trained to be a hunter, meaning Rookfall didn't spend much time with her. Altogether, his apprenticeship had been rather lonesome. It was nice to hear stories from someone who had plenty to tell.
"Sounds like fun to me!" He smirked, knowing how it felt to be a scout playing with a hunter sibling. The sounds of splashing caught his attention again and Rookfall glanced over his shoulder, this time he purred loudly with amusement. "Looks like they are having fun over there," his voice was filled with warmth. He let out a small sigh, "I guess I'd better get back to camp, I came out for a bit of fresh air and to clear my mind. I feel much better though!" Looking to back to Cliffstorm, he gave a characteristic smile, "I'm sure there's something I can be doing; I swear the counselors sometimes wait for me to bring them prey instead of getting it themselves!" He laughed, not an ounce of annoyance to his tone. Despite it being a job for apprentices, he often reveled in the attention that came from the counselors when he delivered their prey.
Drizzlefur
With - [ Hootpaw, Tutlestream, Risingbrook ]
Location - [ Gecko Ravine ]
Drizzlefur watched Risingbrook momentarily, her green eyes glimmering as she thought curiously to herself, he seems flustered today... it's nice that seems to have cheered up. "I'd like to see you try!" She challenged, unable to hold her bubbly laughter as she did so. Looking to Hootpaw, Drizzlefur sniffed playfully, "You think you can keep up, apprentice?" Her teasing tone lingered on the word.
Hootpaw's eyes flared like a wave preparing to crash on the shore, her pelt bristled instinctively, the sensation of adrenaline bringing it to stand on end. "If I catch more then you have to clean the counselors nests!" The molly did not wait for a response. Instead, she bounded to after her mentor, pausing to rub her black pelt back and forth over a frilly fern. It was a trick she'd learned from her mentor who had done the same thing only a heartbeat before. Hootpaw darted into the undergrowth, her black pelt quickly becoming impossible to see under the shadows of the forest.
Moving slower, Drizzlefur did not use the tactic of masking her scent. She trekked quietly, moving as light as a breeze until she caught sight of a gecko sunning itself on a rock. Stepping lightly, Drizzlefur circled the creature, then pounced; landing on target and swiftly killing it. She quickly buried it and sniffed the air - if she was going to win this competition, she needed to be quick.
Sandheart
With - [ Coconutfall, Mintsong, Basiltail]
Location - [ Camp ]
Sandheart felt whatever pressure that had been constricting her chest suddenly lift as Coconutfall seemed to find comfort and agree with her idea. The next breath she took was cool and fulfilling; it had been some time since a breath had satisfied her lungs.
And yet, on the exhale, her lungs tightened once more. M-Mintsong! She stiffened, moving in-sync with the tabby oracle as he pulled away. It was half instinct and half fear. She'd grown so familiar with avoiding acting close with Coconutfall over the moons, to express such affection with him under the watchful gaze of the clan felt embarrassing. To do so under the gaze of Mintsong felt as though a wave from the ocean would swallow her. Perhaps that would not be so bad... it would mean she could be anywhere but in the presence of her ginger tabby sibling. It ached her heart knowing that her sister who she had been so close to only sunrises ago had now become one of her biggest criticizers.
Remaining tense and silent during the interaction, Sandheart only moved her green eyes as they flicked between Mintsong, Coconutfall, and Basiltail. In the back of her mind she considered her options for escape: melt into the earth, grow wings and fly away, move backwards and hope nobody would notice, or stand so still that perhaps they would forget she was even there. It wasn't until she heard her mate looked at her that her mind ceased overreacting and she was able to give him the smallest of encouraging nods. A spark of pride glowed in her heart as he clearly and concisely detailed his plan - even if he sounded somewhat daunted.
She didn't interject into the conversation, but she did nod firmly.

im sorry if this rp is bad because I do support Tigerpaw and can't think of any reasons not to trust him XD) Coastdawnwith Duskflight - thejadestorm, Geckotail - ☾ ☯♢ Ivyeyes ♢☯ ☽ Coastdawn looked at Geckotail. Her face showed no signs of frustration or exasperation, nor any signs of doubt or regret at Geckotail's statement. She still thought Tigerpaw was not worthy for the position of Neophyte. She looked scornful. Heritage didn't matter? The whole clan was torn apart because Tigerpaw didn't have the right heritage! The survival of the whole clan depended on the trust in the oracle, and one of the important factors for trust is heritage! How could Geckotail not see that? However angry she was on the inside, she hid it, saying coldly to Geckotail," If you do not agree, so be it. I will confront Coconutfall myself or with Duskflight without your help."

Ripplepaw
Ripplepaw smiled at the tabby tom's optimism, her heart skipping a beat as she realized Tigerpaw was absolutely right. What would she do without the Clan, without Tigerpaw, and all the other apprentices? Her life would be so much different, and she would never taste the salty sea water in her mouth, the soft feathers of a bird in her mouth or the joy of laughing with other cats during a blissful Flower Night. She smiled widely, her mind blurring together. She wanted this serene happiness to follow her throughout the rest of her life, but with all of the disagreements rushing in and out of the Clan, she knew all her happiness would wash away quickly.
"Don't worry about upsetting cats too much, Tigerpaw," she meowed, her voice steady and silvery. His company had lifted her mood significantly, if not completely. "Whether you like it or not, somecat will always dislike your views, personality or decisions." Her ears perked up, and she was feeling particularly hyper. "Perhaps we could go hunting? If it doesn't interfere with your training or other duties, that is," she added sheepishly. I don't think it does, she thought, focusing all of her anger on Coconutfall, because he's so busy with his Oracle duties. She quickly fixed her mood, as if not to worry Tigerpaw any further. It doesn't matter, she realized, he'll eventually get back to his senses. Deep in her heart, she knew she'd have to wait longer for the Clan to carry out as they usually do, especially because their Oracle didn't seem eager to solve things.

Tigerpaw »
Seeing Ripplepaw once again happy made Tigerpaw swell with joy. His earlier sorrows had been thrown out of his mind, replaced with an inflated sense of happiness. His muzzle was wide with a smile, his icy blue eyes as bright as the ocean's water. He could forget all about his own misgivings if it meant seeing a Clanmate happy. That's what mattered to him in the long run, his Clanmates, his friends, being happy. What was the reason for living if not for joy? Purrs shook the young tom's body. Feeling like he had been rejected by his very own father was but a past memory to him, something that no longer occupied the front of his mind. He had Ripplepaw to thank for that. Even if she hadn't outright helped Tigerpaw with his problem, she still helped, directly or indirectly, and that's what mattered to Tigerpaw.
"Yeah, I know," he breathed out in response to her words. Ripplepaw was right. No matter what he did some cat would always be against him. He wasn't born from the Oracle's Chosen, he knew that. He wasn't the cat that tradition needed to rule the Clan, yet here he was, stuck in the position of neophyte for all to see. Everything about him went against the Clan's beliefs. There was no way he would have every cat in HibiscusClan on his side. "It still hurts, though, knowing you've upset your Clanmates." He stared out wistfully into camp, glancing over all he could see. Again he lingered on the sight of his parents, who were now speaking with Mintsong and Basiltail. His tail twitched in wonder. No telling what sort of conversation they were having.
His attention swiftly changed back to Ripplepaw. "Hunting?" Head tilted to the side, he eyed the molly curiously. "I don't have any plans that I know of." While Coconutfall had finally exited his den, he looked much too busy with whatever he was dealing with to even think about training his son. "But wouldn't we need a scout with us, or your mentor? And..." He turned away sheepishly, paws scuffling at the ground as his ears went warm. "I don't really have much hunter training..."

Ripplepaw
The black furred apprentice laughed, her eyes narrowing in amusement. "Even better! I'll help you out, don't worry," she said, lifting herself from the ground and turning towards Tigerpaw, "I think we should go to the Palm Coast, if you haven't any other ideas," said the molly, her ocean blue gaze shifting towards the camp exit.
She began listing other available hunting areas in her mind, tilting her head every few moments. She realized with a pang of dread that Tigerpaw's father was far more interested in spending time with Sandheart or sulking in his den then he was in training his son. Unfortunately for Tigerpaw, it meant he wasn't too good at hunting or other Neophyte duties. "I wonder where Swiftsplash was bitten. Was it the Gecko Ravine, or some other place?" she questioned. The Gecko Ravine was one of her favorite places to hunt, and she'd hoped that wasn't the location at which the white tom was bitten, although she was fairly aware that there have been stories of boas lingering there.
She then remembered Tigerpaw asked who they were taking with them. "About my mentor... I'm not quite sure where Specklepool is at the moment, heh," she said, her paws suddenly warm from embarrassment. "We could ask around," she suggested.

Geckotail She finally snapped, every hair on her body bristling. "Fine! I'll confront him myself," she replied, perfectly aware of the coldness in Coastdawn's voice. "You two can do whatever you want. I'm not going to help you in any way, as there should be no such thing as dividing cats based off of their blood all because a body of water told you to do so!"
Muttering curses under her breath, Geckotail turned around and, her posture hunched, she stalked off to the southest area of the territory. Most of the time, no cats were found in that part of it, and she knew that very well. She felt the need to rip out Coastdawn's throat, and she just then realized how horrible the Ocean's Spirits are.
Lost in her thoughts, her paws instinctively guided her to the water. Once she realized what had happened, a wave of fury and hate washed over her. "You," she spat at the crystal clear water. "You are the reason our Clan is falling apart. You," she continued, her voice raising, "You are the reason both young and old are suffering!"
She clawed at the water, her tail puffed up and her eyes glowing like an emerald fire. She would do something herself, and she'd do whatever it takes.

Tigerpaw »
Tigerpaw perked right back up when Ripplepaw told him not to worry about his lack of hunting training. Truth be told, he had been on the path of a hunter right before he was named as the next neophyte, but considering he was only two moons into his apprenticeship, his hunting training had not gone very far. He knew the basics, but putting all that into practice was still foreign for the young tomcat. He smiled, glad to know that he had Ripplepaw willing to teach him some things and to be patient with him while he figured it all out. "Palm Coast sounds fun!" He exclaimed, whiskers twitching. He had always loved the Ocean, and it had been some time since he had actually gotten out of camp to see the vast expanse of water that his Clan worshipped. He remembered when he went on his Ocean Wade ceremony, basking in the waters of the sea. He had felt a deep connection during that time, something telling him that the Ocean would play a huge role in his life, but he had no idea what they had meant. Even now he wasn't entirely sure what it meant, but he was starting to realize that maybe his wade had been much different than his own sisters' had been.
He shook his head to rid himself of going deeper down that path. He focused in on Ripplepaw once more, listening to her intently as she went on. "I don't think a boa would go to the coast, yeah?" He sure it was possible for one or two to slither on down to the beach every now and then, but surely they'd stay mostly in the security of the forest. "Specklepool might know, but I also haven't seen him around." Not that Tigerpaw had been specifically looking for the tomcat. "Should we find somebody else? Or...I mean, we're just going to Palm Coast. Could it really be that dangerous?" Perhaps it was because he had been cooped up inside camp for so long that was making him suggest they go out on their own, but whatever it was, Tigerpaw was willing to head out without an adult at their side; they could easily slip away thanks to the commotion going on in camp.

Duskflight had nodded to Coastdawn, and looked towards Geckotail with understanding in his eyes. "Two for one," he'd said.
He was taken aback by Geckotail's outburst, still reeling even as the elderly molly strode away. "Geckotail, wait!" he called, but she was gone before he could say another word. He stared after her with a crease between his brows. You or I may believe in Tigerpaw's abilities, Geckotail, but will the whole clan?
Dread began sinking in his belly as he reconsidered his options. He'd hoped to confront Coconutfall as a united front, but now, who knows what Geckotail's plans were. Duskflight had an inkling what her deeper reservations lied, but he wasn't going to chase after her and try to convince his angered counselor that blood and tradition does matter, at least for the sake of keeping a clan together. It was all for the clan's unity. Wasn't it?
Duskflight looked to Coastdawn. "Do you believe," he said, "that the Ocean can be wrong?" He gazed out to where the ocean rests, brow still locked in worry.

Ripplepaw The black molly grinned, a mischievous glint making its way into her blue eyes. "We could sneak out," she whispered, her ears twisting and turning in every direction as if to hear anycat who could possibly be near. "No harm in a little fun, yeah?"
Her tail tip quivered in excitement; she reckoned she hadn't seen Tigerpaw out of camp for a while. This would be a fun experience for both her and him, and it would be a great break from all the commotion spreading out. She shuffled her paws in an excited manner and eagerly waited for the tom's response. She wasn't sure how he felt about breaking some rules, but if he felt bad, she'd teach him how to become a true, so-called "rulebreaker" and have some fun once in a while.

Tigerpaw »
Never in his life had he thought about breaking such an important rule. As a kit he had most certainly had moments where he didn't listen to Sandheart, times where he had tried begging her to let him stay up just a few more moments longer, or overall instances where he just pretended that he hadn't heard her telling him it was time for something else. But sneaking out of camp was different than all that. Back then he had been a stubborn kit just wanting to play. He had stayed within the nursery or inside camp with cats watching him in some way or another, but sneaking out of camp was a whole new level of rule breaking. His heart sped up in his chest. Adrenaline had his whiskers trembling. He looked at Ripplepaw. "You want to?" It was like he needed one more push. He was on the edge, all he needed was that one push that would throw him over. All they were going to do was head out to Palm Coast. It would be okay. No cat would notice that they were missing, and it had been so long since Tigerpaw had gotten out of camp, this was something he needed.

Mintsong held Coconutfall's gaze as he rattled off his plan. She continued to hold it, unflinching for a long moment, though this time it was purely for intimidation purposes.
"Good to see you still got a spine," she said, finally breaking it. "What should we do about the infested boa in the meantime? I don't suppose you plan on keeping Gecko Ravine closed off for all eternity."
Mintsong turned, still giving her sister the very icy shoulder. "Basiltail, can you inform the healers? Those who are in camp, anyway." Her eyes darted to Coconutfall. "Your kits haven't been in for this whole snake debacle. Guess not doing your job runs in the family."

Alaewing sucked in a deep breath once she felt Lilypool's grab on her front legs, fully expecting the plunge back into the water. Bubbles swirled and danced, and she grinned playfully at Lilypool underwater as she lingered there, floating oh so gently in the water's tender grasp. Did time last longer while you're underwater? The seconds stretch out, the moments inch by as water pressed against your eardrums and your heart pulsed in your chest? Algaewing blew bubbles and watched them drift to the surface.
When her lungs couldn't handle it anymore she resurfaced, gasping for breath. "Sneaky!" she praised with a light-hearted splash at Lilypool. Energy expended now, Algaewing took a break and drifted in the water, riding the turbulence from their playfight.
"Don't suppose we still have time to go hibiscus hunting?" she said, opening her eyes.

Ripplepaw Ripplepaw blinked a few times, ears twitching. "Sheesh. Looks like I really have to drag you out of camp," she mumbled, rolling her eyes in a joking manner. She then chuckled, casting a friendly glance at the tomcat, "Listen, you don't have to if you don't want to. I'm going though, that's for sure," she added, grinning widely. Despite her offering him a choice, deep down in her heart she hoped Tigerpaw would come with her. She ignored it, but she felt most cats acted coldly towards her, and the tabby tom's kindness was a refreshing breath of air for the blue-eyed molly.
Adrenaline coursed through her veins like a river; her eyes glimmering in anticipation, she waited for his response once more.
