Webpaw accompanied by Ravenswoop & Goldensong & Coldpaw | CrowClan camp Webpaw couldn't help but feel responsible for their tardiness. It was their own fault, considering they hadn't woken up on time either. The apprentice held their shoulders still, despite wanting to shrink away. "I'm sorry for being late, Ravenswoop. It won't happen again," they mewed sincerely before bumping their dark pink nose to Ravenswoop's nose.
Most of Webpaw's stress ebbed from their thoughts and left them to think about Ravenswoop and Coldpaw's words. "You're both right," they commented with a small smile, glancing at both cats. They then turned to Coldpaw, who was clearly excited for their training session. "Evasive moves sound specific. I think you're onto something, Coldpaw, maybe they are a way of getting away from an opponent? Maybe they are defensive," the young cat replied, rambling on while they faced their fellow denmate.
The spotted tabby cat was quick enough to keep up with Coldpaw's strange way of leaving camp. It didn't bother Webpaw at all, considering they almost wandered out of line with the patrol. It wouldn't be surprising if they ran into another feline at this point.
Hearing the young tom bring up the eagle piqued Webpaw's interest. They loved theorizing and the eagle situation, or rather, how eagles live, had their full attention. "Well, eagles are birds, right? I think they have huge nests!" they meowed eagerly, padding rapidly next to Coldpaw. "Yeah, but they would have more than one egg! Like, two really huge eggs in their big nests!" Ivyshine accompanied by Sunclaw & Lynxspots & Larchember | leaving camp Ivyshine dipped her head in response to Lynxspots as Larchember emerged behind her. She turned and meowed a greeting towards Larchember. "Thanks, Lynxspots. Hopefully this patrol will go smoothly," she mewed in response to the younger tom. It seemed that it would be quite a full patrol with an interesting patrol leader, to say the least. Although she was a head shorter than Sunclaw, Ivyshine could make up in fluff. Lynxspots and Larchember felt similar in size to her, so if any battle were provoke by Sunclaw, the patrol had enough claws to fight. She wasn't fond of Sunclaw's speech, acting as if he were Ferncurl or even Cardinalstar. He sounded so entitled that it made her stomach twisted with slight disgust. Maybe she shouldn't have joined the patrol. Regardless, Lynxspots and Larchember would have to put up with him just like her. The three of them were royally screwed.
As Sunclaw pelted off, Ivyshine decided she would keep up with their "patrol leader." She turned out of the camp's entrance carefully, preparing to build up speed. She then broke out into a sprint, following the yellow tabby's path. "Hey, Sunclaw!" she called out, coming to a halt. She had finally caught up to Sunclaw. "Lovely speech back there. It was so enlightening too!"
Of course, the molly's voice dripped with sarcasm. "Do you think you're leading a battle patrol as a warrior or as Ferncurl?" she asked blatantly.[ image credit - chris froome on flickr | tags: Tealraven & Tiri & Yacinthe ]

LYNXSPOTS heading to owlclan border / with sunclaw, ivyshine & larchember The golden-brown bengal laughed weakly at Ivyshine's greeting. "One can hope." Then Sunclaw opened his mouth.
Lynxspots, rooted to the floor, could do nothing but listen and nod silently along to Sunclaw's speech. He couldn't bring himself to meet the massive golden tabby's gaze, knowing full well that he'd find nothing but disappointment there. Sunclaw was clearly one of the victors who thought using one's brain was a weakness and if you couldn't -- or chose not -- to fight you were a personal failure and a burden on all the Clan.
And he was probably right.
Sighing, Lynxspots followed suit, struggling to match the bigger cat's long strides. Ivyshine had no trouble keeping pace with Sunclaw. Her voice was just loud enough to carry back to Lynxspots and Larchember. Lynxspots ducked his head and hid a smile at her sarcasm. He was glad the older warrior was here to keep Sunclaw in check.
RAVENSWOOP leaving crowclan camp / with goldensong, webpaw & coldpaw Ravenswoop dipped her head, accepting Webpaw's apology, and let out a quiet purr at Coldpaw's enthusiasm. So full of questions was he; if Coldpaw ever ran out of things to ask, she thought, it would mean something was wrong, and it would be a tragic day indeed. He was bright young cat, one whom she was sure would go far under Goldensong's warm tutelage.
Webpaw she was less certain about. The spotted tabby apprentice was hard to read, but observant and keen, pursuing their training with a focus that at times was a little disconcerting for their young age. Ravenswoop was impressed with the quick progress they had made, but felt she didn't really know the little cat at all.
Ravenswoop fell in behind the group, guarding the rear of patrol while Goldensong led them into the tunnel. She was determined not to be caught off guard again. She swiveled her ears forward, listening to the apprentices' speculation, their voices echoing back down the tunnel to her. She could practically feel Coldpaw's frustration at having to fall silent as they left the camp behind. Patience. Her whiskers twitched in amusement. We'll be there soon enough. Once they reached the safety of the Clan's training grounds they could speak again.
Soon they were out in the territory proper and heading for the Echo Ravine. Ravenswoop found herself paying more attention to the sky than usual as they walked.

Sunclaw, really making a solid effort to be murdered by Ivyshine:
Sunclaw with Lynxspots, Ivyshine, and Larchember Crowclan camp, headed to Owlclan border @ Tealraven , Sand , Yacinthe
The smile dropped from his face, but he plastered it back on before he turned around. "Why thank you," Sunclaw purred, taking a careful step closer until he was juuust close enough to Ivyshine to force her to tilt her head, just the slightest, slightest bit, to meet his eyes. "It's so sweet of you to say, but I don't think I would ever be leader, or deputy." He dropped his voice. "I just don't think I'm that good at following the rules. But I didn't know you had trouble with them!" He glanced around them, emphasizing the forest. "Still, maybe we should wait until we get to Echo Ravine, yes? I know you might think me boring, and maybe I'm just not as experienced as you, worrying about strategy when the Owlclan border is such a safe place. but, well... the vow of silence and all. We get to Echo, then by all means, you tell me how we should do things, Ivyshine."
Sunclaw turned, letting his tail brush across Iyshine's paws, and took off again. If she wanted to sling mud, she should've stayed out of the dirt-place herself.

Ivyshine is plotting Sunclaw's murder as we speak: (let me know if I need to edit my post in case Yacinthe replies first) Ivyshine accompanied by Sunclaw & Lynxspots & Larchember | leaving camp -> echo ravine You're such a mousebrain, Ivyshine thought, chiding her own actions. She could have kept her mouth shut about Sunclaw's entitled speech while they were in the forest. She knew better as she was an older warrior with more experience and, supposedly, respect for her clan. Clearly she had disobeyed all of that within seconds.
Still, she was just as upset, if not even more with Sunclaw. He was too close for comfort and she wanted to refuse to look at his ugly, golden tabby mug. Her head was tilted slightly and her blue eyes flared with animosity. She wouldn't dare say a word again, considering she had already crossed that line. A feeling in the pit of her stomach made her think that Sunclaw would be quite pleased with that. Ivyshine hissed beneath her breath and glared at the tom as soon as his tail brushed across her paws. You'll get a mouthful later, Sunclaw, she thought.
The long-furred warrior glanced around, knowing that Lynxspots and Larchember were witnesses to their altercation. She didn't care and she surely wouldn't find much interest in their opinions of the fight. With that, she padded forward in hopes of reaching the Echo Ravine sooner than later.[ image credit - chris froome on flickr | tags: Tealraven & Tiri & Yacinthe ]

(my other cats are open if anyone wants ~ )
Myrtlepaw with Ferncurl, mentions Pipitpaw in camp @ Yacinthe Squirrel or shrew? Myrtlepaw debated, looking from the skinny gray furred squirrel to the dark brown shrew, which had more meat on it's bones but smaller in size. Either would be a good, hardy meal for Pipitpaw. Did it really matter? The medicine cat apprentice let out a quiet huff, shaking her head at herself. Prey was prey. Snatching up the shrew, she nudged the squirrel back into the pile and turned to head back to the medicine den.
Her paws carried her a few steps before her round blue eyes fell on the black curly fur of their deputy. Ferncurl appeared to be a cat on a mission and the goldenrod clenched in her jaws meant that the mission probably included Myrtlepaw. The seal-point flattened her ears, the gold-colored petals reminding her of their herb shortage. Hazelpool had mentioned something to her and Ebonypaw earlier about collecting some more herbs today. She'd been so distracted with taking care of Shadepelt and Pipitpaw...
Taking a calming breath, Myrtlepaw padded over to Ferncurl and placed the prey down beside her. "Ferncurl? Were you looking to form an herb gathering patrol?" she asked, thanking StarClan above that her voice came out calm and steady. She wasn't afraid of her deputy, merely intimidated. As one should be, the older molly was an impressive warrior and a victor! "I was just going to bring this prey to Pipitpaw. He's still resting in the medicine den today," she explained, embarrassment causing her to lick at her chest fur.

(Larchember is like "nope not getting in-between that!")
Larchember Outside Camp - To: Lynxspots, Ivyshine, & Sunclaw Sand , Tiri , Tealraven
Larchember trotted alongside Lynxspots, tail high. He opened his mouth to begin speaking to his friend but quickly snapped it shut when he recalled where he was. Instead he let out a small purr of greeting and signalled with his whiskers. How are you doing? When Ivyshine spoke out to Sunclaw he tried not to pay them any mind, assuming whatever Sunclaw said back was a scolding. FerncurlCamp - To: Myrtlepawlittle blu ♥
Ferncurl dipped her head ever so slightly at the apprentice. How is he doing? She signalled with her whiskers, before proceeding with far more complex movements with her paws and ears, a mixture of the sign language all three of the clans knew and the simplified signals Crowclan used for their vow of silence. Hazelpool told me you are out of Goldenrod. Afterwards I want you to find at least two others to go with you to collect it. Both still a bit wary of the eagle and wanting to make sure the medicine cat was safe to carry her herbs. She accompanied the apprenticed back into the medicine den.

LYNXSPOTS heading to owlclan border / with sunclaw, ivyshine & larchember Lynxspots watched the cutting remarks fly between the two warriors with growing apprehension. The tension was palpable. He kept his head down and hung back a bit, not wanting to get caught in the middle. He took comfort in his friend's presence. He turned his head at Larchember's purr and managed a rather unconvincing smile. About as well as can be expected, I suppose.
He twitched his shoulders in a shrug, flattening his ears and motioning with his eyes toward the two warriors up ahead. I hope this is over soon. He quickened his pace to catch up, never quite leaving Larchember's side, as they descended to the ravine.

Yacinthe I love the way Ferncurl speaks!
Sunclaw: Wow it's so relaxing beating another clan mate in a test of wills. Examining your own feelings is for suckers
Sunclaw with Lynxspots, Ivyshine, Larchember, and Flutterpaw Echo Ravine, headed to Owlclan border @ Tealraven , Sand , Yacinthe , @certifiedhoodclassic
With Ivyshine apparently, if temporarily, cowed, a great deal of the tension bled out of Sunclaw's shoulders. His pelting run became more bounding, not any less quick, but with far more flair, bouncing straight off tree trunk and rock as the ground dropped under the patrol and the cool light of the forest was taken over by the harsher sunlight of the exposed, but safe, ravine. Sunclaw leapt down off the edge in several bounding steps to land, in a great fluffy ginger coil of cat, in the ravine proper. "We might return here later." He called back over his shoulder to Flutterpaw, in the soft, careful but carrying tone cats often used here. Normally he'd just, y'know, talk, but at the moment proper warrior behaviour was unusually hilarious, given Ivyshine's slip.
"But before we move on, does anyone have any suggestions for the border?" While it was maybe slightly snarky, he was also being genuine. Duskbreeze hadn't been his best friend or anything, but she'd been a clan mate. An apprentice he'd trained with, one who had lost their practice fights again and again without losing her cheer or goodwill. And she hadn't been stupid, either. And, grudgingly, neither were any of the cats on this patrol. Very begrudgingly, in some cases, he thought, eyeing up Ivyshine.

(👉👈 im really glad you think so uwu) (i would murder for coldpaw, he deserves the world)
Goldensong with Ravenswoop, Coldpaw, & Webpaw en route to echo ravine @ Tealraven , Sand , & Tiri For once Goldensong didn't feel the need to answer Coldpaw's many questions, only because Webpaw was so quick to reply in her stead. She looks back over her shoulder at the two chatty apprentices as she takes up lead. Their voices bouncing off the tunnel and back at them. It was always a little humorous to watch the ever vocal Coldpaw nearly bristle right before he had to keep his mouth shut. When he would finally turn right around, Goldensong would tickle his nose with the tip of her tail, just to keep his attention forward as they finally exited the tunnel.
Having Coldpaw as an apprentice really reminded the golden molly of herself when she was that age. How frustrated she would get when she couldn't speak. Poor Lynxspots would have to hear her endless complaints back in the apprentices den, because the younger Goldensong felt like she would explode if her words were too backed up. Now she was older, and knew the importance of the vow, leaving her to be empathetic of her apprentices own struggles.
Her blue eyes blink against the sudden brightness, sensitive to the light at first. Are we all here? She thought as her head swiveled back once more to watch the rest of the training patrol pool out of the tunnel, with Ravenswoop taking the rear and keeping her eyes on the skies. Goldensong smiles again and starts down the familiar path towards the training grounds.
It was a bit of a trek to get there, but traveling to Echo Ravine was always easier than going back to camp. The uphill hike always left her muscles burning, so she allows herself to enjoy the slow incline down the side of their mountain, giving the occasional look over her shoulder before jumping over rocks and fallen logs.
Almost there. Goldensong silently signals the others as they approach the ravine.

ebonypaw -- the tumbling falls -- with briarnose (𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 )
Noticing the warrior catching up swiftly, Ebonypaw doubled his efforts, bouncing off a tree's trunk to take a sharp turn. The thrill of the speed and the ferns slapping his sides delighted him, only encouraging him to go even faster, make even shorter cuts!
Unfortunately this meant, when he tried to jump a stump, he misjudged the distance and, upon his back paw snagging on the edge, went for a mighty tumble into the undergrowth. His head popped up some fox-lengths away, crowned by falling debris as he looked around in bewilderment. Mousedung! he thought, very seriously considering breaking the vow of silence just to yowl his curses to the forest. Ebony shook off his pelt, hot with embarrassment, and leapt back into the fray, hoping desperately Briarnose didn't see all that. (What was he thinking. Of course she saw all that. He could only hope she didn't chide his ears off afterwards. Or notice his following limp.)
Luckily the Tumbling Falls burst into view, and Ebonypaw panted as he drew closer to its rushing waters. He lapped gratefully, the cool waters soothing his dry tongue. He waved his tail, assuming Briarnose had made her arrival. I totally got here first, his posture boasted.

( 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 I love the vibe he's got with Goldensong! It's so sweet and wholesome, and she's so patient and understanding with him!) An eagle next would have to be massive! Coldpaw nodded eagerly to Webpaw, but felt the touch of Goldensong's tail and twisted around in the tunnel instead. He'd bring it back up once they'd finished training then, it was an interesting idea, thinking about how the terrifying predators and the silly songbirds on the fresh kill pile both nested, and what that would look like.
He trotted along in the middle of their little patrol, secure with both mentors on the look out, and resoundingly not thinking about the voices he could hear briefly from warriors in the border patrol. Coldpaw knew that not everyone took the Vow extremely seriously, but, as much as he hated containing himself, the Vow was Important. When he'd been a kit, complaining about it, Ferncurl had explained why it had been put in place. She'd gotten Shadepelt to back her up too, firmly impressing the seriousness of it on her kit. His grandmother had been alive during the end of Needlestar's leadership, and her stories of a clan clawing it's way out of being hunted nearly to extinction had, well, they'd had an effect. Yes, the Vow was annoying, but it was also sensible, and effective, and that was what mattered.
Coldpaw suddenly saw a small whippy branch headed towards his face, and ducked under it, abandoning dignity. He needed to be better at staying grounded, outside of his thoughts, he decided. That was, firstly, embarrassing, and secondly, he wouldn't always have Goldensong and Ravenswoop watching to keep him safe as he walked. But they were nearly at the Ravine! New moves, new things to learn, ideas to connect and examine and pick apart! His tail shot up excitedly, and he picked up his pace as they clambered down into it.
Maybe they'd be practicing something like darting, something that let them move quickly and change directions on a whim, that sounded evasive! Or maybe something to get out of a hold, to escape another cat's jaws or the talons of an eagle, that'd be fantastic!

Ivyshine: refusing to give in despite wanting to yet, at the same time, preparing an alibi for Sunclaw's murder: Ivyshine accompanied by Sunclaw, Lynxspots, Larchember & Flutterpaw | Echo Ravine, onto the OwlClan border Ivyshine squinted as the patrol reached the ravine. They were no longer under the safety of the trees and now out in the open. She forced herself to be quiet as Sunclaw leapt and bounded around like a small apprentice. The seal point rolled her blue eyes and took her time landing in the ravine. She once had high hopes for this patrol, but now? She'd rather be elsewhere, even stuck in camp despite how much she disliked that.
Sunclaw's snarky comment was one that caused the warrior's pelt to prickle with annoyance. She usually wasn't so short tempered, but something about the fluffy ginger tom set her off. Her cream and seal brown tail glided across the smooth ground beneath them. She finally mustered up the courage to give her opinion to their patrol "leader." Shaking her head, Ivyshine declined to make any suggestions. Of course she had one, but she wasn't going to play Sunclaw's game. She was a bit fed up with him right now.
With her whiskers and tail moving simultaneously, she looked towards Larchember and Lynxspots. "No suggestions here. What about you two?" [ image credit - chris froome on flickr | tags: Tealraven & Tiri & Yacinthe & @certifiedhoodclassic ]

Webpaw accompanied by Ravenswoop & Goldensong & Coldpaw | heading to Echo Ravine Webpaw had always liked Ravenswoop, there was no doubt about that. They trusted their mentor and thought that Ravenswoop was great because of how much they had learned so far. The only problem was Webpaw's way of focusing; they were always dialed in and rarely broke their own focus. They were nothing like Coldpaw, a cute, enthusiastic apprentice. Maybe that's why they found connecting with their mentor and others to be difficult. They weren't enthusiastic and cute. They were too observant and keen for their own good. Could it be the way they approached situations? Webpaw didn't know.
The silver spotted tabby didn't mind the Vow; in actuality, it calmed their senses. They padded next to Coldpaw with Ravenswoop on their left side as the patrol navigated the territory. Passing large clusters of trees reminded the apprentice that they would soon reach their destination. It was easy for Webpaw to stay quiet, but she wondered if Coldpaw struggled with it. After all, he was quite the talkative cat which they didn't mind one bit. At least it was some socialization that brought some solace. It made them feel soothed, like a mother caring for her kit.
Blinking, the feline's eyes were set towards the training area. Ambition made their paws tingle rapidly which made Webpaw want to dart ahead of the group and get to the training spot first. The brief thought of the eagle was no more since they had left camp. What matter to the silver cat now was training and training hard.[ image credit - soon koon on flickr (cc0 license) | tags: Tealraven , 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 , Tiri ]

The trees were left behind and the world opened to a shallow ravine. Flutterpaw felt better in the safe comfort of trees covering the sky, but the ravine was well-protected, so it wasn’t all that bad. The black and white she-cat stayed primarily in the back alongside Lynxspots and Larchember, all because Ivyshine and Sunclaw wouldn’t stop bickering. She could understand why Ivyshine probably was annoyed with him. The young she-cat was his apprentice after all.
The bright sunlight made it a little difficult for Flutterpaw to see, but she still managed to leap down several steps before landing. They were getting closer and closer to the OwlClan border. Sunclaw had asked for suggestions, but Flutterpaw didn’t have any. This was her first border patrol in a while after all, she didn’t know that much. Surely nothing could go wrong?

- - - ( Sunclaw and Foxblaze are starting a "punch your feelings out" club instead of talking about their emotions, who wants to join do we move to the border page at this point? ) - - - LYNXSPOTS echo ravine, en route to owlclan border / with sunclaw, ivyshine, larchember & flutterpaw Lynxspots scurried after Sunclaw as he leaped and bounded from boulder to boulder down the side of the ravine. His paws slipped on a few loose pebbles and he skittered forward uncontrollably for several feet before catching himself on a fallen branch. Sunclaw's tail bobbed ahead of him, just out of reach. He coughed, choking on the dust kicked up by the fluffy golden warrior, and pulled himself upright. There was no point in trying to keep up. Sunclaw was just showing off now.
Lynxspots slowed and descended at his own pace, picking his way carefully down a narrow, old trail worn by countless pawsteps. He paused now and then to look back, waiting for Flutterpaw and Larchember to catch up. He noticed that Flutterpaw seemed to be sticking to the rear of the patrol, keeping Lynxspots and Larchember between her and her mentor, and felt a pinch of pity for the apprentice.
At last they emerged from the evergreen canopy into the shallow ravine. High above them a single crow called out, drifting in lazy circles against the bright blue backdrop of the sky. Lynxspots squinted upward. He felt uncomfortably exposed here, even though the Echo Ravine was one of the safer places in CrowClan territory.
He stopped not far behind Ivyshine and peered out from behind the senior warrior. He was surprised Sunclaw had asked for input. "Uh, nope, no suggestions," he blurted when Ivyshine turned her intense blue gaze on him. "Let's just keep moving." The sooner they got to the border the better.
RAVENSWOOP echo ravine / with goldensong, webpaw & coldpaw Ravenswoop remained alert for danger all the way to the ravine. She was constantly scanning the undergrowth around them and the sky above them, ears forward and nose twitching as she sifted through the many scents of the forest. She deliberately did not notice Coldpaw nearly slapping his face on a thin branch. A tiny smile tugged at the corner of her muzzle.
"Here we are," Ravenswoop announced. She nimbly made her way down into the ravine and came to a stop beside Goldensong. The afternoon sun was hot on her all-black fur. She swiped her tongue around her jaws to moisten them. A cold drink would be in order once they finished training.
When the apprentices had assembled themselves in front of her, Ravenswoop said, "Alright, you may speak now." Her dark green eyes twinkled with rare amusement. "We are safe here as long as we stick to the training area. We'll hear any predators coming long before we see them."
The tall warrior turned and tilted her head slightly down to look Webpaw and Coldpaw in the eye. "Now, what can you tell me about evasive moves? It’s alright if you don’t know, but give it your best guess."

(we do have a border page) LarchemberEcho Ravine - To: Sunclaw, Lynxspots, Ivyshine, FlutterpawSand , Tiri , Tealraven , @certifiedhoodclassic
Larchember gave Lynxspots a happy nod. They crowed their neck over the others as they descended into the ravine, then twitched their ears. Check both, maybe? It would take a while, but why not? They all had plenty of energy and it meant more time working together with their clanmates. Although, some cats did look rather tense...

(I've moved Sunclaw to the border page for now! @certifiedhoodclassic no credit needed for me, I learnt this formatting from Rainy, she was kind enough to let me use it!) Oh thank starclan, finally! Coldpaw felt like he could exist again, dancing on his paws as his thoughts came spilling out. "Evasion must mean to get away, or to not be caught in the first place? Maybe we have to practice darting around, to confuse other cats, or maybe that wouldn't work for eagles, or maybe you climb trees to get away from dogs, does that sound right?" He met Webpaw's eyes for a moment, but his thoughts and words continued. "Do we have to bunch up small, to be a harder target? Or maybe we kick out to get people to drop us, that'd be cool, we could pretend to be eagles for each other!" Cocking his head to think about it, he flopped heavily onto the ground and bunched up his hind legs, then kicked them out, violently and not in time with each other. "Would this work?"

Webpaw accompanied by Ravenswoop & Goldensong & Coldpaw | Echo Ravine Holding their words and thoughts in wasn't much trouble for Webpaw today. They let out a sigh and listened to Coldpaw's theory first. "I think it means to not get caught in the first place or maybe it's a type of defensive move," the silver tabby meowed, meeting Coldpaw's green eyes.
They weren't too sure, but seeing Coldpaw's enthusiasm had Webpaw purring in amusement. "How much smaller can we be? It's kind of hard to become a small ball of fur again," they mewed, watching the dark colored tom as he flopped onto the ground. His timing appeared inconsistent and too violent. Did he want to injure himself? Plus, it looked painful. "Does it hurt to kick your hind legs out like... that?" the young cat asked, tipping their head to one side. Their green eyes flickered with confusion and then even more amusement. "And eagles? Should I be the eagle and you're the cat I'm trying to catch for breakfast?"
Webpaw decided to stand by Coldpaw before leaning a bit over him and stretching their legs out unevenly. "Do I try to land on you now? Maybe if I'm the eagle... I grab you by your scruff," they mewed, pivoting around the other apprentice. Their mimicking of a bird in flight was not... accurate at all. It looked, frankly, bizarre and too slow if Webpaw was an eagle.[ image credit - soon koon on flickr (cc0 license) | tags: Tealraven , 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 , Tiri ]

- - - ( rainy gave me permission to let ravenswoop lead and pilot goldensong until she can get back ^^ ) - - - RAVENSWOOP echo ravine / with goldensong, webpaw & coldpaw Ravenswoop, otherwise motionless, flicked her ears forward as she tried to listen, process, and absorb the flurry of words spilling out of Coldpaw's mouth all at once. The tom spoke so quickly it was hard to tell where one sentence ended and the next began. At that moment, she was glad she had been assigned to Webpaw. The other apprentice was watching Coldpaw attentively even as he demonstrated his rather unique idea of an evasive maneuver.
Ravenswoop side-eyed Goldensong, eyebrows raised in an arch look. After giving the apprentices a moment to speculate, she said, "Well, you've both got the definition right, more or less. In light of--" she hesitated, cheeks growing hot with embarrassment. "--well, recent events, Lightningstar wanted all apprentices to familiarize themselves with how to get out of a large bird's clutches. If we have time after that, we can go over some basic moves to get out of another warrior's grip, too."
She studied them both with forest-green eyes. "Goldensong and I will demonstrate for you. Goldensong will play the cat, and I..." She sighed, steadfastly not looking at the gleeful expression spreading across Goldensong's face. "I will play the bird swooping down upon her. Because of-- you know." She heard Goldensong giggle and managed not to roll her eyes.
Ravenswoop went and pulled herself to the top of a nearby boulder jutting out of the ravine wall. She waited for Goldensong to get in position. When the molly signaled that she was ready, Ravenswoop checked to be sure the apprentices were watching. Then Ravenswoop crouched, muscles bunching in her back legs, and leaped with forepaws outstretched. Just before she struck Goldensong, the other warrior jumped and flipped over, twisting in the air to swipe her paws across Ravenswoop's belly and knock her aside. Ravenswoop hit the ground, loosing a cloud of dust, and rolled to her feet, while Goldensong landed neatly on her paws. She nodded at Goldensong with a surge of satisfaction. Just as we practiced.
She turned to face Webpaw and Coldpaw. "Did you get that?"

"Ooooo," his tail lashed excitedly as he watched the adults, brain working hard. That swipe, he hadn't been completely off target with his kicking idea, that was sort of what he'd been working towards, but so much more refined, and incorporated into a single action that would get a cat out of and eagles clutches and hit back simultaneously.
"So you dodge out and then give it a claw swipe to tell it to stay away! Webpaw, can we take a couple turns at it? I'm not sure how much force needs to go into claws - not that I'll have them out with you," he reassured, "I'm not that fleabrained! But I'm not sure how much force needs to go into claw vs shoving the bird away?" He jumped up on the rock, claiming the first shot at eagling, though he knew they'd both get plenty of each in this practice session. "I'm going to be a pretty small eagle, huh? maybe I'm a baby one!" Webpaw might only be two moons older than him, but at their age in the middle of the apprentice growth spurts, it made a difference, and he was noticeably the smallest cat in the group. He hoped it wouldn't matter for this sort of practice.

- - - ( myrtlewhisper and hickoryshade are both open for interaction if anyone needs a way to jump-in ~ ) - - - MYRTLEWHISPER crowclan camp / alone "You're going to do what?"
"You heard me."
"That's ridiculous. Nobody, not even Ferncurl, would do that."
"Exactly! No one will ever expect it."
"Because it's a terrible idea. ...Do it."
"Ha! Aren't you supposed to be setting a good role model as a responsible, mature senior warrior?"
"Ah, but where is the fun in that?"
"Fair. But if I die it's your fault for encouraging my reckless behavior."
"Bah."
. . .
Myrtlewhisper lay stretched out in a patch of warm sunshine beaming through an opening in the cavern ceiling. The afternoon light brought out the warm hues in her tortoiseshell coat, turning her dark ginger patches a shade of brilliant, fiery orange. She twitched her whiskers and flicked her wispy, long-haired tail in evident satisfaction. The molly rose to her paws, stretched, and eyed the entrance tunnel.
Hickoryshade had been gone for awhile. StarClan knows what her mousebrained kin was getting up to. Perhaps she ought to swing by and check on their latest venture. Or perhaps she ought to go out and see what mischief found its way to her, instead. She strolled across the floor, pausing by the entrance and gazing thoughtfully at the off-duty warriors who remained in the camp, undecided about her next move.

HICKORYSHADE hemlock grove / with a clanmate Hickoryshade was up a tree.
A third of the way up the trunk, the small tabby-and-white cat clung to the bark, claws sunk deep into the wood. Their muscles burned from the effort of hanging on. The next branch hadn't looked that far away from the ground. They risked a glance down and felt their stomach churn. In reality, they hadn't gotten very high up, but from this dizzying vantage the grassy clearing below seemed as distant as the sun.
Perhaps they should've taken their discomfort with heights into consideration before setting out.
Nevertheless, Hickoryshade was determined to at least try, even if they weren't successful. It was better than saying they'd chickened out and given up halfway through. Somewhere high in the branches above, they were pretty certain, was the eagle that had been plaguing CrowClan for the last week or so. If they managed to smash the nest to smithereens, they reasoned, the eagle would have no excuse to return and would need to find a new home elsewhere. Maybe in SwanClan or OwlClan territory if they were lucky. Oh, now that would be entertaining.
"You know we'll be legends if this works," Hickoryshade called down to their companion, heedless of the Vow of Silence. Their aunt had insisted they use the buddy system, and the predator dens in the area did make it dangerous to approach the Hemlock Grove without backup, so they had not come alone. "Are you going to help or just keep standing there?"
