Resting in the shade of a large stone, Brindlebrook sleepily watched the patrols come and go. She had gone out early that morning and wouldn't be expected to go on another patrol until later in the evening.
She could have asked a fellow warrior to go hunting, but she felt excruciatingly tired. So much so, that even the loudest conversation didn't bother her. Her eyelids fluttered as she tried to prevent falling asleep, but the poor she-cat could not overcome this battle. Soon enough, she drifted into slumber.
Brindlebrook opened her eyes to see the Odd Brook in front of her. The slow currents bubbled, but the warrior could see past them to spot a fish or two making their way to and fro. Instinctively, the she-cat moved into position and hid her shadow. Her bi-colored eyes stared at the water for a couple of heartbeats, waiting for the most opportune moment to strike. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf

(I hope I’m doing this right! ) flickerflame - with *open* at swan lake @/tag
Flickerflame hated being trapped inside SwanClan’s camp. Her favorite area to relax was at Swan Lake. She enjoyed the immense beauty it held, and the Newleaf breeze only seemed to make it better. Flickerflame looked for a spot to sit to watch the swans and ducks from afar. Tall, thick, luscious reeds crossed her path. The perfect spot, all to myself…
Maybe snoozing away in a bed of reeds wasn’t as fun as getting some OwlClan cats or CrowClan cats angry, but it was the perfect area for her to think about herself, and her wonders. They’re always yapping about StarClan and what-not back at camp…what have they ever done for us?
Eventually, Flickerflame’s thoughts whirled to her old friendship with Sleetpuddle, an OwlClan tom. He had been the one to cut ties with her. She knew it was her fault, but it didn’t matter to her. She needed someone to tell her what was going on in OwlClan, and the only way to do that was to be buddy-buddy with one of those mouse-brains. How else was she supposed to make sure SwanClan came out victorious? He was stupid enough to fall for it. What was the point of dwelling over the past when she could always find some other OwlClan cat to be friends with? Closing her eyes, she could feel herself being dragged away by sleep.

Irispaw couldn't help but flinch at Willowpaw's loud voice, not expecting her to get so noisy when they were literally right in front of each other. She tries to push her irritation down, knowing the she-cat didn't do it on purpose. "It was, but it's fine." She responds quickly, letting out a sigh.
As if sensing her self-doubt, the darker gray molly looked over the other apprentice. "The turning part can be tricky, I know Reedpaw is still struggling with it, too. He literally couldn't complain louder about it." Her head turns and she narrows her eyes at her brother, noticing that he had parted from Shellpaw and was now talking to his mentor. She wonders if she should seek out her mentor soon, her yellow and blue eyes trying to find the familiar pelt of Silverdawn.
Her search doesn't last long, the movement of Willowpaw finally giving her space is what catches her attention. Irispaw seems to have missed her comment from a few moments earlier, suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious for being asked to demonstrate in camp. Maybe if they were training, but they were right in the clearing, anyone could come over and look if they wanted. However, she did tell Willowpaw she would help out, so backing out wasn't an option. "Of course."
"The key is to use the momentum and actually let yourself fall on your side. Your problem is that you're not fully committing. Watch closely." She says before backing up a couple of paces as well, giving herself a moment to breathe before making her move. Irispaw pushes off of her back paws, twisting her body and letting herself slide underneath Willowpaw. With her claws sheathed, she pats her paw down the length of her denmate's underbelly, then twists again to pop back up onto all fours. "See? you actually have to slide under your opponent and try to hit their weak spot. Now, you try."

Otterfrost shook his head, resisting the urge to sigh. The mentor in him wanted to get on Laketail's case about lazing around when there's work to be done, but the tom wasn't an apprentice and it wasn't the older tom's place. "At least we don't have thick coats," he replied instead, his tail-tip twitching behind him. Thank StarClan for small miracles. Long fur must make Greenleaf miserable... unless you lived up in the mountains like CrowClan, he supposed.
He sat up, gaze turning to the newcomers, the previous alarm fading to familiarity. "Ah, Sootfall, Tanglesplash. Have you two come to do some fishing?" Otterfrost asked, tilting his head slightly to the left. The sun had risen higher in the sky, dawn patrol must be out and about now, which meant other patrols were likely being organized. The tom felt his paws itch to get moving, to begin working. Maybe he'd join in the hunting.
The gasp was a bit much, as was the dramatic paw to the chest. Tanglesplash snorted at the other tom's antics, weaving up the hill, around gorse and heather. "Alas, that's my burden to bear," he mewed, briefly wondering why he even bothered to play along. At least he couldn't be bored with the spontaneous Sootfall around. A lone birch tree loomed ahead, one of the familiar landmarks that signaled the duo were growing close to the Odd Brook.
High grass tickled the tom's flanks, the faint buzz of insect wings mingled with the soft gurgle of rushing water. Tanglesplash loved nothing more than being out in SwanClan territory, the views were astonishing and usually peaceful. A rare sigh of content escaped on an exhale, his shoulders visibly losing tension the further they traveled. He'd almost forgotten his company until Sootfall's words of gratitude reached his ears. "Oh," the star touched struggled to find proper words, "sure." Yep. Gifted with the gift of gab, this tom was not.
Once they'd crested the rise, the wide brook curled below them. He caught the scent of his other clanmates only moments before the gray tom next to him pointed the two out. The idea of being around more cats wasn't exactly appealing to Tanglesplash but he supposed ignoring them would be rude. "Yeah, okay," he agreed, eyes narrowing a bit in the glare of the sun that was reflected off the water. Quietly, the tom padded down the bank, enjoying the cool sand and pebbles beneath his paw-pads.

SOOTFALL odd brook / with tanglesplash, otterfrost & laketail "Splendid! The more the merrier, right?" Sootfall hopped down from his perch on the stone and trotted after the black-and-white tom. He was not entirely oblivious to Tanglesplash's discomfort at being around other cats, but he thought it would be good for the grouchy tom. He could do most of the talking, anyway, until Tanglesplash warmed up to the idea of jumping into the conversation. Sometimes quiet cats just needed a friendly nudge.
Otterfrost called out to them in greeting as the pair drew closer. Laketail was stretched out on the grass beside him, fluffy silver fur lit with a soft glow from the sun overhead. Laketail, like Tanglesplash, was another quiet soul; Sootfall had fond memories of dragging the other tom out to play or practice-fight with him when the two had been apprentices together. Sootfall waved his tail to return the greeting. "We certainly are! Beautiful day for it, is it not?"
Sootfall strolled down the bank with a confident air and settled himself near the water's edge. The stream lapped lazily at his paws and tail-tip. He whisked his tail back so it wouldn't get wet, swiping a gentle crescent-shaped swathe in the sand around him. "How's the fishing today? Caught anything yet?"
WILLOWPAW swanclan camp / with irispaw
Willowpaw suppressed a giggle at the idea of Reedpaw complaining about the move. At least she wasn't alone. "When he's not mooning around after Shellpaw, you mean?" Her light green eyes glowed with amusement.
She managed to stand still long enough for Irispaw to demonstrate the move. Her fur prickled with nervous anticipation as the other molly backed up. She blinked and suddenly Irispaw was gone, darting towards her with one paw outstretched. She executed a deft twist and grazed Willowpaw's belly fur with one paw before turning and popping back up. The light touch on her belly tickled slightly; it was a little unnerving to think that if this were a real fight, Irispaw's claws would've been buried in that vulnerable spot before she had a chance to leap out of the way. She shivered involuntarily.
"You're so quick!" Willowpaw exclaimed. "But I think I see what you mean. It's hard to find the perfect way to turn without either starting the twist too soon or hitting the ground." She sighed. "I guess I'll just have to keep practicing until I can time it right. But you seem to have a natural talent for it!" She leaned forward and stage-whispered, "Is it because you're star-touched?"

»»————- ❄ ————-«« Asterfrost Camp Open
Recently, days went by without a thought for Asterfrost. It was the same old thing repeating itself every single day. Without an apprentice, there wasn't really anything for Asterfrost to do other than hunt and go on patrols, just as she had described it, life repeated itself.
Despite her undying and unwavering loyalty to SwanClan, Asterfrost couldn't help but wonder what life in the other Clans was like. She had always questioned why OwlClan had put in place the teams system, she knew that maybe it would help keep the Clan more organized, but why would they need that to begin with? Surely their leader could keep the Clan in balance and stop it from breaking into chaos, right?
When it came to CrowClan, Asterfrost was never particularly fond of them as a whole. They never interested her, maybe she just didn't know much about their lifestyle, but it still seemed like a relatively basic Clan. Not one Asterfrost would like to live in, that's for sure.
Asterfrost stretched and yawned. "Now, what to do, what to do?" (Behold, Asterfrost being overly judgemental for this entire post. It's been a while since I've posted something for a roleplay, now that I think of it lol)

Swiftcreek stretched as he entered the camp with a minnow in his jaws. He had woken up early and was unable to go back to sleep. In fact, his fur was ruffled due to his tossing and turning the previous night. He knew his appearance would cause some gossip, especially since he had time to groom before leaving. The tom instead chose to hunt for the Clan, now it was time to find his apprentice.
He plopped his catch on the pile and immediately turned to the apprentices den. "Shellpaw? I hope you're awake." he mewed. He couldn't help but yawn. The mottled tom knew that today would be long and hard. Hopefully, he could wake up with a battle training session or maybe a swim in the Odd Brook. In fact, the water seemed to be a nice idea to him.

Dustclaw: Camp Open Dustclaw slowly opens his eyes and peers around the den. Aside from a few cats still asleep, most of the nests were empty. He considers just staying in until Sunhigh but what if he was called for a patrol? He lets out a groan and decides to just get up. If anything, he could find a quiet spot in camp to take a nap. He rises to his paws and walks out of the den. He shakes his fur and looks around to see what everyone was up too. Most seemed to be either gone out hunting or just chatting with each other. "Okay, today is going to be a good day." He muttered to himself. He didn't quite believe it, but this was a motto that he would say everyday. I should just go hunting before I talk myself out of it.

Softpaw || in camp || open!
Softpaw gasped awake, sides heaving as their eyes darted left and right. Their fur puffed up even more so than usual, they slowly took stock of their surroundings - quiet den, cool rock, scent of their fellow apprentices around them - and had to stay still in sheer terror before their heart rate began to slow down.
Once they realized they were no longer running (or rather, failing to run) from some mysterious threat they never actually saw in the midst of a terrible dream, they continued lying there for maybe another half an hour before they trusted their reality enough to sit up.
They felt terrible. They shook as much moss out of their fur as they could before pulling themselves outside, wishing for once they had been put on dawn patrol just so that they had something to do to drag their mind out of the nightmare - heck, they couldn't even remember details anymore, they just remembered the final image plastered in the forefront in their mind that just stressed them out the longer they thought about it. They desperately looked around camp, hoping to find someone, anyone that was awake who could distract them.
"Hey, ladybug," Softpaw mewed weakly to the little red lady crawling on an errant blade of grass. "Where're you off to? Can you take me with you?"

Silverdawn: Camp Open
Silverdawn stood outside of the warriors den and enjoys the cool morning breeze. She turns her gaze to the apprentice den wondering how the apprentices were feeling. She had really pushed them, but that was for their own good. They needed to get the moves down in case a Owlclan cat tried anything. She had been pushed hard by her former mentor, and she turned out just fine!
Glancing up at the sky, she allowed her mind to wander and just think about everything that happened. She hadn't been on the patrol because she wouldn't have been able to let things be peaceful.
Dustclaw: Rabbit Tunnel Open
Dustclaw leaves the tunnel dusty and frustrated. He nearly had one of the rabbit before the creature did a quick turn and caused Dustclaw to smash his head into the wall. He decided to turn around and make his way back to get his bearings. He had a love hate relationship with rabbits, One wrong move and those little ones were gone before you could blink. I should have just tried to catch some fish! But nooo let's go get the rabbits, they tend to feed more cats! I'm such an idiot! He winced knowing he shouldn't be so hard on himself, but he couldn't help it.

flickerflame - with *open* at swanclan camp @/tag
It had been two sunrises since a border dispute between SwanClan and OwlClan had occurred. Flickerflame‘s pelt was still somewhat ruffled from the encounter, but that didn’t stop her from reflecting back on every single second of it. Oh, if only I could relive it.
Unfortunately for her, no real fight broke out no matter how hard she tried to get one of them to claw her face off. She wished she could have done something to seriously get it going. Feeling quite hungry, she dragged herself towards the fresh-kill pile.
She picked out a rabbit. As she was about to dig in, a thought crossed her mind. She could easily drag this right across the OwlClan border, framing them for prey-stealing. Perhaps she could wait until a patrol comes by, just so she can eat it there and show it off. If there was anything she really wanted to do today, it was to get some cat angry. Especially an OwlClan cat. The thrill of the recent dispute could only make her long for a fight. Maybe if I could convince someone to come with. Surely they’ll understand. OwlClan has no right to act like a piece of territory we rightfully won is somehow theirs.

SOOTFALL odd brook / open Sootfall paddled across the stream with long, powerful strokes of his legs. His paws brushed against the stony creekbed and he stood, splashing into the shallows and onto the shore, leaving small impressions in the damp sand. He shook himself vigorously and stretched, enjoying the warm sun on his back. Nothing like a dip in a cold brook to wake you up and start your day off right, he thought with satisfaction. Refreshed and alert, he padded downstream to his usual fishing spot.
The silver tabby leaped gracefully to the top of a large, flat stone, already warm from the sun. He settled himself into a comfortable seated position, tail wrapped neatly around his rear legs. He sat up tall and took a deep breath, chest puffing out slightly, and admired his reflection for a moment. He liked to think he cut a striking and dramatic figure, poised so elegantly as he was upon his rock. With a pleased toss of his head, he leaned forward, careful not to let his shadow fall across the water, and waited with one paw raised and ready to strike at the first sign of flashing scales.

WILLOWPAW swanclan camp / with softpaw; mentions flickerflame Willowpaw stumbled across the camp with a wad of bedding almost as big as herself clamped in her jaws. The tangled moss obscured the lower half of her vision and she almost tripped over her own paws. She bumped into something warm and furry and glanced up, cheeks hot with embarrassment. "Ope, sorry. Pardon me, sorry!" She skirted around the blue-eyed tortoiseshell. "Didn't see you there, sorry, Flickerflame!"
She hurried toward the camp entrance. Almost there, she thought with a flash of triumph.
Then she collided with a smaller warm-and-furry something.
Willowpaw's breath rushed out in an "oof!" and the mossy bedding went flying. The world tipped sideways for a dizzying moment before she righted herself, glancing around to see what she'd run into. She found herself staring into the wide eyes of Softpaw. "Oh, hey!" She smiled sheepishly. She stood and hastily scraped what remained of the foul bedding towards her, wrinkling her nose. "Just changing out the bedding for, uh-- for the elders, you know. What are you up to this morning?"

Littlefin had spent the whole time that Sootfall was wading in the water trying to catch fish just a little ways down the brook. She reeled back when her face was splashed after a failed attempt at swiping a trout out of the water. Her tail-tip flickered in frustration, her mossy green eyes narrowed at the glittering and slow rushing water. The black and white molly never considered herself a great fisher, but that never discouraged her enough to give up.
She exhaled heavily through her nose, shifting in her spot before raising her paw once again. Her gaze trained on several sleek bodied fish, waiting until she spotted one close to the surface of the water. Her patience was paid off when her paw strikes the water, hooking a perch out of the water and bringing it to her awaiting jaws. She grunted as it wriggled about before she was able to bite into it, killing it quickly.
Her chest swelled with pride, her self-esteem shooting up as she looked around for silver tabby companion. The small she-cat spotted him on a flat rock, noticing his poised placement and raised paw, but her words were already leaving her full mouth as she trotted over to him. "Sootfall, look! I caught a big one!"

SOOTFALL odd brook / with littlefin Startled, Sootfall overbalanced and nearly toppled off his rock. He dug his claws into the stone and awkwardly flung his tail out for counterbalance, but recovered quickly. The silver tabby felt a prickle of irritation as the fish he'd been eyeing darted away. Careful not to let it show on his face, he assumed a more relaxed posture and turned to Littlefin with an easygoing smile, eyes twinkling. "Did you, now?"
He leaned over to get a closer look at her fish. "Indeed you did! Is that a perch? I do love those," He mewed pleasantly. Truth be told, perch wasn't his favorite (it was trout), but the molly was clearly pleased with herself: her eyes gleamed and her meow was bright with pride. His irritation with her ebbed. "Nice catch, Littlefin!" He said, and meant it. "Someday you must teach me your ways." His eyes darted from Littlefin to the water and back. He surreptitiously edged towards the lip of the stone, still hoping to catch something before heading back.

Heat prickled Littlefin's pelt when she realized that she must've interrupted him after watching the tom nearly lose his balance. An apologetic look immediately crossed her features after she'd set her catch on the ground, getting ready to apologize when he flashes her that relaxed smile. A soft purr rises in her throat and her remorseful expression melts into a sheepish one.
Littlefin was starting to feel a bit silly now, like she was an apprentice seeking approval from her mentor, something had done often at that young age. "It is! I hope it tastes good to whoever eats it. I'm honestly not a huge fan of perch, but we're hunting for a clan and not ourselves, right?" Fish in general wasn't her favorite kind of prey. Too many small bones for her liking. Her embarrassment never really goes away, but Sootfall's genuineness helped ease her. "Oh! Well, I'm sure there are better fishers in the clan, but I'm always happy to help."
The molly followed his gaze back to the water and she gives another small smile. "Sorry, I'll just wait over there." She nodded to some grassy patch before picking her perch back up. "Good luck!"

Softpaw -- in camp -- with Willowpaw (Tealraven )
Softpaw yelped as something sent them tilting at a terrifying speed towards the ground. They flopped harmlessly onto their side, fur poofed out all over again. "Hi, Willowpaw," they mumbled into the ground, watching sadly as their ladybug friend fluttered off into the air. "I'm just, you know. Talking to bugs."
They managed to pull themselves together to look at the bedding behind their fellow apprentice. "That's, uh, nice of you. Do you need help?" They felt a little bad for being the reason the bedding's now scattered.

SOOTFALL odd brook / with littlefin Sootfall nodded. "True, true. I've never cared for lizards or frogs -- too slimy and scaly." He shuddered dramatically. "But there must be someone in the Clan who likes them." He puffed out his chest and pressed a paw to his forehead, hoping to make her laugh. "Such is the burden we must carry. At least we know that if we catch something we don't like it won't go to waste."
He stepped up to the edge of his fishing rock again and crouched with one paw lifted. His tail whisked slowly across the stone behind him. He focused on the water, all signs of his previous mirth gone, expression replaced by one of deep concentration. One heartbeat stretched into ten. Then into thirty. He narrowed his eyes as silver scales flashed in the sun. With a swift strike of his paw, he hooked the wriggling fish out of the water and slapped it on the stone to daze it. Then he delivered a bite to the gills to finish it off. It was a little dramatic, sure, but he had an audience to perform for. Looking good and fishing were two things he excelled in.
"And that," he said, tossing the fish to Littlefin and hopping down to join her, "is how it's done." He grinned. "Your turn! Demonstrate for me the ways of Littlefin!"
WILLOWPAW swanclan camp / with softpaw
Willowpaw rolled the bits of dirty bedding back into a mossy clump and tried not to inhale too deeply. "Oh, bugs! I like bugs. The pretty ones, anyway. Like ladybugs and dragonflies! Those are good bugs. But not the crawly ones." She gave the clump of moss a reproachful look, then reluctantly picked it up. The moss fibers tickled her nose and she bit back a sneeze.
She brightened at Softpaw's offer to help. "Sure!" She dropped the bedding and parsed some out for the other apprentice to carry. "I just need to dump this stuff and gather some fresh moss for the elders' nests. Otterfrost told me it was okay to leave the camp without a warrior as long as I don't go too far, but if you're with me, then it's probably okay, right?" She grabbed a bundle of moss and trotted toward the camp entrance.

Softpaw -- in camp, going outside -- with Willowpaw (Tealraven )
Softpaw carefully collected their bundle of moss. "Aw, I like the crawlies," they said. "Their little legs are so small and adorable. Even butterflies started out as crawly caterpillars once." They followed Willowpaw off towards the entrance, trying to keep the smelly bits of the bedding away from their fur best they could.
When they left the camp entrance behind Softpaw dropped the unraveling moss to bundle it more tightly. "Two is better than one," they agreed, nodding as they peeked out towards the rolling hills. They still couldn't shake the nervousness that ran rampant through their chest whenever they left camp, as if something was going to dive out of the air at any moment. "It's not like our luck is so bad something's going to attack... right when we're out without a warrior..."
A shadow passed overhead, and Softpaw squeaked and jumped behind Willowpaw. When they poked their head back up, there was nothing in the sky. Probably just... a really thick cloud...? they hoped desperately before becoming very, very self-conscious at the fact that they were hiding behind their fellow apprentice. "... You don't see anything, do you?" they whispered, just in case.

IvytangleCamp - To: flickerflame @certifiedhoodclassic
Ivytangle walked up from the entrance to the fresh-kill pile, a small trout hanging proudly from his jaw. The calm of the past few days had allowed him to focus on hunting, and the young tom thought he was improving quite a bit. With everything that happened with his foolish sister and the last six moons, for Owlclan to start another fight right when life was getting back to normal was just his luck. When he spotted Flickerflame he quickly placed the trout in the pile and dipped his head to her. "Greetings Flickerflame. Are you okay? You look..." Like that rabbit insulted your mother. He could not say it out loud, so he left the sentence incomplete and prayed Flickerflame filled it in with something nicer. She hardly seems in a 'nicer' mood, though. "Is there something I can do?" He added quickly, trying to be polite. LavenderpawCamp - To: SilverdawnHawkeyes258
Lavenderpaw carefully bit down and snapped the protruding branch from the apprentice den wall. It had been quite a literally pain in her side for several days since she moved to the back of the den farther from her fellow apprentices, but someone had broken it while she was last out training to where it now sat in her nest. It was big and awkward, getting caught on everything else. With great effort she dragged the branch to the entrance. Just as she thought she was in the clear, however, the thing ceased to budge. She tugged and tugged, but it was no use. Something inside must have snagged it.
Lavenderpaw backed up to assess the damage. To her horror, not only had it torn parts of the entrance out of place, but the silly thing now completely blocked it off for everyone but the smallest kit. Lavenderpaw swiftly looked around camp, hoping to find Goosemask, or maybe a sharp stone, but instead her eyes locked on Silverdawn. Oh no, of course someone was looking! She shrunk down, tail and ears tucked in, and prayed to starclan the much older she-cat did not punish her.

Sootfall's dramatics succeed in getting the little molly to laugh, her whiskers twitching with interest to what he would do next. Some of her favorite patrols involved the silvery tom, just because he always found time to be a bit silly. So, when he asked if she wanted to go hunting early, Littlefin meowed a quick and eager yes. "Right? I think Lilacwing likes fish, so maybe I'll bring this right to her!"
Then he's off and perched on his rock again, leaving her to watch in awe as he sat poised to kill. Starclan forgive her if she disturbed his concentration again. So, Littlefin sat still and held her breath, not even letting her ears or tail twitch, afraid that she might mess Sootfall up. She can feel the heavy beat of her heart hammering against her chest, slowing down some while her lungs burned for air. Maybe she was overdoing it, but she'd felt so guilty before.
Littlefin's reaction is slow, and she flinches at the incoming fish after it's already landed at her paws. She's far too busy trying to catch her breath while hoping that her companion doesn't notice. "Wow! Sootfall that was amazing! You're such a great fisher," the black and white she-cat praisesdearnestly, sounding honestly impressed. Then her enthusiasm drops when he challenges her.
"Wait, really? Are you sure? I don't know if anyone wants to see a demonstration from me," and yet her paws are leading her towards the rock he was just sitting on. Tentatively, of course.

flickerflame - with *ivytangle* ->mentions of willowpaw at swanclan camp Yacinthe
Thump!
Willowpaw had stumbled right into Flickerflame. The clumsy apprentice had been carrying some bedding. Skirting around the blue-eyed tortoiseshell, the young apprentice apologized in embarrassment.
“It’s all good.” Flickerflame meowed. She couldn’t blame the pale gray she-cat. She should’ve been eating, instead of daydreaming about brawling with OwlClan. A few moments later, Ivytangle approached Flickerflame. The tortoiseshell barely noticed, only just after he greeted her. The tom must’ve just come back from hunting.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Willowpaw had tripped over me, but she’s just an apprentice, so it didn’t hurt or anything like that.” Did her daydreaming make her look funny? The tom looked as if something was wrong with her. “No, don’t mind me. I was just about to eat my rabbit. Do you want some?” The most she could do is invite him to eat with her. She didn’t want to seem rude, after all.

- - - ( littlefin has my entire heart rn ) - - - SOOTFALL odd brook / with littlefin The black and white molly burst into giggles at his dramatics, earning a pleased look from Sootfall. He appreciated it when his Clanmates humored him; even more so when they genuinely enjoyed his company. He flipped his tail and examined a paw, preening, at her compliment. "I try." Fishing was one of the few things he took seriously. Hooking the perfect catch was something he took great satisfaction in, and, well... he was one of the best fishers in the Clan, wasn't he? Of course he was.
He noticed the flame of enthusiasm in Littlefin's eyes gutter. He didn't care to boast at the expense of others. "I do!" He said earnestly. "Perhaps I might learn a technique from you I had never considered! Perhaps you will find you're an even better fisher than you knew." He trotted after her, his steps light. When they reached the rock he'd been sitting on, he rose up on his back legs, leaning his front paws against the warm stone surface so he could give her space and watch all the same. He gave her an encouraging nod.
WILLOWPAW swanclan territory / with softpaw
Willowpaw shuddered at the image of crawly insect legs. She couldn't imagine finding anything so creepy to be adorable. "You say that, until you wake up with one in your nest! Ew!" She considered the origin of butterflies for a moment, then added, "But caterpillars are okay, I guess."
Together they padded through the entrance and carefully descended the steep hill. The golden hills and wheat fields unrolled before them, the sky never-ending above them, and she suddenly felt very small. A gust of wind ruffled her pale grey fur, pushing her sideways. She caught Softpaw's eye and tried to smile reassuringly. "Exactly! Warriors come and go from camp all the time. What are the odds of, like, a giant eagle swooping down on us just because we're not with a grown-up?"
A dark shadow passed over them and Softpaw let out a startled squeak, which startled Willowpaw, as the other apprentice darted behind her. She could feel them peering out over her shoulder. Willowpaw cast her gaze up to the sky. "Uh, no...?" She turned to Softpaw with a cheerful shrug, though the fluffy cat's nervousness was beginning to rub off on her. "Just a cloud. See? We'll be fine!"
Still, she kept her eyes wide open and remained far more tense and alert as they neared the bottom of the slope. Soon the ground evened out beneath their paws. Willowpaw looked around, trying to remember all the landmarks they'd learned during their first tour of the territory. "I think there's a stream close to the camp. We can find moss on the rocks there. Do you remember which direction it is, Softpaw?"

Silverdawn: Camp with Lavenderpaw ( Yacinthe) Silverdawn blinks a few times before getting to her paws and walking over to Lavenderpaw. Seemed like the young apprentice might need a bit of help. Once she was close enough, Silverdawn opens her mouth to speak. "Need some help moving that branch?" She questioned and waits for Lavendpaw to speak. She often noticed that the apprentices always seemed to be up to something. She thought back to the few times where Goosemask got in trouble for sneaking out. One time had ended in a injury and she had been furious. Still, she couldn't stay to mad at him. She did a few dumb things as an apprentice though she wouldn't admit that to anyone.

( my other cats are open as well, if anyone is interested ~ )
Lilacwing with open in camp @ Tag
Lilacwing had waddled out of the nursery relatively early this morning, leaving her sleeping mate behind in the nest they’d shared. She had wanted to stay curled up against Goosemask but her bladder and the light pains in her stomach had expressed other plans. The light brown and white tabby now settled carefully beside the fresh-kill pile, peering at the options curiously. Her stomach rumbled but the queen was mostly worried about her nest. She didn’t know if it was soft enough for her coming newborns.
In times like these, Lilacwing wished her mother was still around. She could ask Silverdawn, she supposed, or even Dapplepounce. Her paws worked at the sandy grass beneath her paws indecisively, head tilted to one side. A sharp throb spread through her abdomen and she let out a little gasp before the pain faded. Cloudberry had warned her about some pain in the days leading up to the birth, so she didn’t worry about it too much. There was a small dove on the pile and she pulled it toward herself, tucking in.

IvytangleCamp - To: Flickerflame@certifiedhoodclassic
Ivytangle hesitated for a moment, but then nodded. "If you don't mind." he sat down beside the she-cat. He still felt a bit skittish around his clanmates, particularly those he had once trained with. "How have you been? It's been a while since we last talked." He started awkwardly as he bit into the rabbit. The last time they truly chatted was back when he was a much more reckless cat. Even then, he was so caught up in his sister's strange ideas that it almost felt like talking to strangers with all he knew about what was going on in his clanmate's lives. I wish I knew enough to at least ask about something more specific, so I didn't just sound like a Crowclan cat at a gathering stuck sitting beside her. "How is, um, Sleetstreak?" They were friends, right? He thought he heard her mention someone named Sleet at some point. LavenderpawCamp - To: SilverdawnHawkeyes258 "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to." Lavenderpaw preemptively squeaked as the warrior approached. When she offered to help the apprentice kneaded her paws against the earth in embarrassment. "Oh, um, yes please. It, uh, it got caught on the walls I think." She pushed her nose against one of the twigs which pulled more f the entrance loose. "I didn't realize how big it was when I pulled it out, I'm sorry."

(aint she just a precious little thing? lol) And Littlefin did, genuinely enjoy his company that is. His confidence was something she coveted, and if she couldn't share even an ounce of it, then she would resign herself to be content just sharing Sootfall's companionship. She silently hoped that he liked her friendship just as much, knowing how popular the tom was.
Her heart was hammering against her chest and she could feel the thrum of it in the tips of her ears as she peered over the water. Littlefin's murky green eyes flicker over to Sootfall as he leaned against the rock. Now she really felt like an apprentice being told to show off their skills, but his encouragement does help soften her. She nods, tentatively, and turns her attention back to the brook.
Taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart, Littlefin leans over and raises a white-tipped paw. She carefully scans the water, watching as fish skitter by unaware of the impending danger. As her focus clouds her anxiety, she finds herself no longer concerned with Sootfall's watchful eye.
Right before striking, Littlefin gives a small wiggle in her haunches, her paws fidgeting against the smooth rock. Then her forepaw breaks the surface of the water, hooking around a slender fish and tossing it on to the bank. She always forgets her strength, and the fish goes flying towards Sootfall's head. Fortunately, it lands just at his perched paws. Which, she goes racing towards to sink her teeth into it's scaly skin before the fish has the chance to flop back into the safety of the brook.
After a successful kill, her head raises with a grin, only for it to falter as the small she-cat leaps back upon noticing just how close their faces were. "W-Well?"
